I'm wondering what rom is the best for battery life in your opinions. My battery sucks on some of the roms I've tried, I can't even go through a full day without charging my phone again.

I've been seeing a couple of posts that say that the battery life is noticeably better.
I love reading all this stuff about battery life.
Reality of it People is you probably just use your phone to much.
it's normal HIGH drain devices + small batteries = Wall Charger
If we want longer battery life we need higher .mah sure it would have been nice had it came with a 2200mah battery but you would be carrying a brick.
Found this... make wifi charge your phone.
http://www.ohgizmo.com/2010/01/09/ces2010-rca-airnergy-charger-harvests-electricity-from-wifi/
And the kicker is that they will still charge the phone atleast once a day regardless of a better "battery saving kernel" LOL
Uninstall everything from your device, it helps a lot. Or go buy Nokia 3210, you can use it 2 weeks without charge with stock kernel.

Hi i'd like to know how battery compares on the DS.
I hear many ppl say that on custom ROMs the battery is better, but by what margin?
There is a person saying he had his DS approxiametly in standby for 200hrs (stock)
then with a custom ROM 400hrs...
is that an accurate prediction... do the custom ROMs increase battery by that large margin?
i would have thought that having all the newer sense 3.0 , overclocked ROMs etc, would make the phones battery life worse than stock, but it seems not so....
Anyone can share their expierences please?
i dont know about stand by but if u ask about usage stock rom battery life sux.I'm on cm7 (right now) and must say that this rom is the best one for battery life...tried miui, lbc, virtuous and now cm7 so far and in cm7 is no drain at all...7-9mA on idle ..all roms drain fast if u use wifi ..if u really use ur phone whatever u use stock or custom rom u will must charge every day thats for sure
in some lines, when screen off i get use of:
Stock: 14-15ma
Custom 6-8ma
Meaning that custom rom uses half of current... means better battery life
yeah just like that

on standby you can see a huge increase in battery life if you use a custom ROM
but when you are actually using the device the battery life isn't changed that much as the display causes most of the battery drain & so reduction in battery consumption of most other processes does not affect the battery life much, but it definitely is a lot better
& also most custom ROMs underclock the device when the device is sleeping so that also helps the battery life
AOSP roms had battery drain issues, but the devs are working on it & it should be fixed soon(im not sure if its fixed yet)
Thanks everyone for your input!
Will be considering rooting my phone and installing a custom ROM , once i'm fully settled in with it

would just agree with what @kartkk said above.
Would also say that you are correct to delay, as there are a decent number of guides and weeks worth of reading material here in the forum to keep you busy and help you along the way.plus lots of us here willing to answer any questions you may have as you should be fairly confident what you are up to before you start flashing.

I haven't noticed a difference really, but then again I am over clocking now by about 400Mhz. Custom roms are just better all round.

interesting question, since sense is quite often blamed for its exessive battery drain.

Battery life is a very subjective matter.
Everyone uses their phones differently,so , judging battery life between people is hard.
Yes , some ROMS are better than others.
Yes, some kernels are better than others.
It is the combination of the right ROM and kernel for you that is going to matter.
And no one can tell you what that is.
Experiment for a couple of days to see how they work.

I installed ViperS 3.1.2 (which is now available as 3.1.4) and have found that to be excellent. On stock ROM with stock battery i couldn't last a day, now have an Anker 1900 mAh with ViperS and I get 2 days worth out of it.
Hope that helps

Battery life varies from devise to devise and is as per usage... its better to try different roms and see which ROM is giving best battery life, for some its SVHD for some its fallout.

But for better battery life it's recommended Stock Sense ROM.

I got a decent battery life out of an old CoreDroid ROM but that decreased over time to a point where the phone was not usable further away from a charging point so I switched to Cyanogenmod and have a decent battery life again.
Question
OK then.
I've got a question: How long you own Desire S?
Maybe, you've an old battery which have worse battery life...
Use a sense ROM usually you will get better battery life, also check your battery if it has started to phisically change (in the middle of battery you may have a discrete bump) if this is the situation than don't use that battery because that may physically damage your phone, sorry for my bad English

Hello,
it's been two years where I used my HTC Sensation the last time (I'm on M7 now) and now my mother want to use it.
Because I have absolutely no idea which ROM I should use for her I'm asking here.
At the moment ViperS 5.3.0 is installed, but my mother complains about the bad battery life.
So I'm searching for a ROM with the best battery life.
She is just using a weather app and whatsapp sometimes + telephone app, so no performance is needed and I think a ROM with Sense and a lot of customization like ViperS isn't needed ^^.
Which ROM/kernel would you recommened?
She did not use it very often, most of the time the display is turned off (for days), but the battery is still empty after 1-2 days.
Android 4.x or 5.x? CM or Sense?
Thanks in advance.

Okay, thanks for your answer.
I thought Cyanogenmod is easier to use and more battery friendly than a Sense ROM?
ViperS will give you the best battery life. Check if there is any application eating the battery. If the phone has been without use for long time also the battery may be damaged.

Okay, that was unexpected.
I thought a ROM without Sense is more battery friendly.
I will have a look at this when I have time.
