What the heck is this? The owl only shows on the lock screen while in portrait mode. It will disappear in landscape. And it is not a shortcut to anything.
Looks to me like the logo for TripAdvisor.
Where it came from... probably your wallpaper.
Samsung prepackages some of that stuff in Stock, and if I recall one of either the Live or Static wallpaper sources is from TripAdvisor.
As for why it only shows in portrait, I guess that's because of the size of the wallpaper. The logo probably gets clipped in landscape.
That was it. I knew it looked like TripAdvisor but it isn't installed. But I am using the "Travel Wallpaper" on my lock screen. Sneaky bastards are getting free advertising as there is nothing else saying it is from trip advisor.

I just had a quick question in regards to screen rotation on the Transformer and wanted to see if everyone else is having the same result.
On my home screen I have both icons and widgets. When I rotate the tablet to go from landscape to portrait, or vice versa, it successfully changes the screen orientation; however, it causes the icons to take a second to reload and the widgets take a bit longer, almost as if they have to "boot up" again. Is this normal for Honeycomb and is everyone else seeing this happen?
The widgets I have that I am referring to in particular are the gmail and mail widgets, alongside the calendar widget.
I am un-rooted and running stock honeycomb with no custom launchers or anything. I just wanted to see if this was normal behavior, or something that only I am experiencing. Thanks.
Yep, it's normal. Mine does it also.
Originally my lockscreen had the same wallpaper as the phone desktop. This weekend I thought I'd try the youtube casting function to our Vizio TV (which worked fine btw). I watched the Captain America - Civil War trailer. Now my lockscreen shows a screen cap of Iron Man/Tony Stark!
I cannot find any method to change the lockscreen back to my default wallpaper. Any advice? I searched through this forum and on Google and I cannot find any method that allows for changing the lock screen back to the same as my home wall paper.
I'm running full stock, locked bootloader, no root on 5.0.2-7SRA-UEA2.
thanks...
Well it somehow reverted back to my home wallpaper. I did nothing on my end.
I love the tablet and am fine with the stock launcher and everything, but I'm having issues setting a good wallpaper.
The one I want to use looks great if I align the top-right corner of it to the top right of the display, both in portrait and landscape mode. However, if I try to set it to that in either mode, it seems to crop the image to fit just that mode and when I rotate the display it keeps the image's new center point and just scales it up to keep the screen filled, cutting off the wrong edges and looking terrible.
Is there any way to fix this? Am I stuck trying to use a 3rd-party launcher if I want to use this wallpaper?
Thanks
Hi,
I have a quite anoing issue with any of a animated wallpappers that I would like to set on my phone.
The issue is, that when i set a live wallpaper (stock or Zedge), when I tap the screen when it is on, the wallpapper pause. When I tap again it starts animating again.
The big question here is, if it is possible to somehow turn the live wallpapper on, that my taping on screen won't make it pause, and the animation will work continuosly?
I am looking for a thread like this over the internet but can't find any answer.
I will just add that the phone is not rooted or no other things had bean made with it.
Crossing fingers for a solution form You!
Just noticed that when I apply a wallpaper it gets cropped on my home screen but not on my lock screen. Is this normal? Anything I can do about this?
Really annoying losing part of the image.
apply with stock wallpaper picker and turn off wallpaper scroll. use "set both" option
Tried every way possible. Lock screen shows properly but home screen gets cropped every time
Update, rebooting seems to fix it.
