I need something that has some kind of control over volume of what my niki's mic pics up. Recording my band practices or gigs results in inaudable distortion.
Anything with a fader or some kind and some sort of monitoring to see if its the sound wave is peaking.
Is there anything out there, i'm having a hard time finding something. Ive tried resco audio recorder 4 but theres no control over input volume.
bump......
ALWAYS check out the Wiki first, it has a dedicated subpage: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Audio and call recording, answering machines
Start with http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Sound Recorder Bible if you need a full overview; otherwise, I recommend either VITO's app or Resco's.
thanks a lot, i look through there and must have missed vitos soundexplorer.
it has exactly what i was looking for thanks a lot.
I am trying to test the microphone on the GTab. I sideloaded fring and tried to make a test call. The microphone was all crackly. Not useable. Is there another app to try to test the mic? What I want to know is if it is the device or fring. I tried to get Yahoo Messenger with the Video app but I haven't been able to find the apk anywhere that is the current version.
how about the sound recorder that's included in the GAPPs file?

I was also going to suggest as the quickest check... or Rehersal Assistant from the Market if you want to really test sound quality better saving a raw uncompressed audio file for playback on tab or elsewhere...
Microphone Sucks
I purchased this in part to perhaps do video conferencing. I tried the sound recorder with the unit at arms length distance and tried to record my voice. It was so faint through the speakers with my normal speaking voice I could hardly tell that I had recorded anything. This is not a good sign. Even talking way loud (shooting), it was barely audible through the speakers with the volume at 100 percent. Now that may not be how someone would perceive it in a video chat application but I don't have high hopes.
Anyone else record anything through the microphone? Is there any other approach that would work (Bluetooth Headset)?
i have Talking Tom open at my desk while im at work because it entertains me when i yell at my employees
i notice no issues with volume or quality
Dear all,
I did the most silly thing I've ever done in my life with trying to reset my transformer by setting a pin in the... microphone entry. I've had to many wmobile phones and I hadn't read the manual.
Hopefully I didn't push like a donkey and the microphone is still working.
But I'm quite a paranoid and I'd like to check if my microphone has been damaged because now that I'm paying attention to its quality, I noticed that the sss sounds look more like "sh" sounds.
Could someone please kindly upload a microphone sample with some speaking with some "sss" in order for me to compare?
Thank you!

Boy,
nobody wants to take 30 secs to help? I posted here the sound sample I take when speaking really low.
I just cant send you the file because I'm too new on this website.

Please tell me if you see a similar problem on your device and send a sample from it.
Yours has a kind of background whirring noise to it, don't know if thats a pc fan in the background or the mic broken, but mine isnt like that.
And you also sound very quiet, but you may just be further away from your device than I was from mine when I tested it.
I couldnt find where the default recording app saved the files so I used an app called PCM recorder to record it at 48000Hz. Whatever app you used to record your clip, created it in a very poor audio quality. It has a kind of 'underwater' sound quality, which is common with low bitrate recordings.
Oh and you'll have to take my word for it as I'm not posting an audio clip.
Ok thank you.
And there,

do you still hear an anormal buzzing sound? You really can't send me a recording without speaking just to hear your sound?
And the shh are present with you too?
Thanks

Does anybody know if HTC has acknowledged the problem with poor sound quality when recording video on the Sensation? As in -- it's super loud and distorted even when recording in a relatively quiet environment? This has been the single most disappointing thing about this phone for me.
I have seen a couple of threads started about this but there is not much info out there that I've been able to dig up.
Does anybody have more information about the problem or know of anything that can be done to alleviate it? Even if there's a different video recording app someone can recommend, I'd be happy. (From what I've read it sounds like a software issue -- something with the default codec or volume level being borked. Hopefully it doesn't actually have anything to do with the mic itself.)
Hello,
As you should have noticed the sound is recorded with to high gain on camcorder.
I want to ask if anyone was able to fix this.
Every time I use the camcorder to record something noisy, like a concert or something, it gets impossible to understand the music because the camera records with to much gain.
Is there any way to reduce that gain, or some way to cover the camcorder microphones in order to record with a lower volume??
This happens with every ROM I tried, so I think it's an hardware problem and not a ROM's problem.
Did anyone tried to fix that and wants to share how to do it?!?!
Thank you
