[Q] mxplayer - show interface (play/pause/timebar) always, no dissappear ~ how ?? - MX Player

---
1) How do you make the play/pause buttons and time bar not dissappear? ... (or rather: show all the time)
(all I have found is show for : 2sec-10sec)
I want to always know how far in video I am.
---
2) Also... anyone happen to know any good file explorers(with folders)/video player(that decodes&plays multiple types), and IMG previews? (to play multiple folders worth of video, organized by folder, with image preview)
I like folder player, but can't organize folders (hierarchy) or play many types videos
Gplayer won't show folder hierarchy, or expand floating videoscreen)
Searching for: video player that shows folder structure/hierarchy, and possibly a preview IMG of each video. .... help...
---

Wow, cant really understand why dont you want buttons interface to not dissapear but yes this always show should be avaliable.
You can have shown folder structure on this player and also view an img of each video.
Did you try new VIEW option in menu?

Thank you much for responding
( i've had few to no responses so far on this forum)
I can not find what you are talking about.
In the folders/files section, The menu includes 'view', but I don't see anything about play/pause/timebar.
In the video player section, there is no 'view', but 'tools' then 'settings' and i think have been through most of it.
yes I found the thumbnails for the vids, (thank-you,) they're just not so in you face like gplayer and folder video, lol,
and folder structure, I guess this is the only player so far to have that.. (or do you know others... )

If you look at the first three options under view menu
1. All folders - it will show the exact folder which has videos
2. Folders - hierarchical view (folders without videos won't be shown)
3. List all videos regardless of location

Thank you, I have folder hierarchy already,
(my question about play/pause/timebar)
(I was, overlooking thumbnails too bc small compared to gplayer, folder video, etc)
I would like the time/play/pause thing to not dissapear,
(maybe even modify shape, I like the one in 'folder video', is less awkward, for lots of skipping around..)
(also, in search of perfect player: one that you can view folder/file hierarchy at same time as videos, (to always know which one you're on/how far through folder, constantly see file names for other vids, titles etc, ideal for lots of shorter vids, not movies so much)

here's a link to MediaMonkey. I have been using it since 2006 and never needed anything else (except itunes of course). There are many apps out there that will allow you to get the cover art automatically on the Xoom. Many are listed here.
no luck for that. any elase suggestion? thx =)

Maybe you can specify more clearly what exactly you want to do? Cubed from the market lets you fetch album art from the internet on the Xoom.
Out of interest does it rely on album art being embedded in mp3's or is there a naming convention for a jpeg image in the same folder?

I was curious how it set the album art myself. I have a lot of random tracks that were just assigned a random album art image from one of my other albums. It has nothing to do with the other tracks and they are named in no way similarly.
personally i put tracks ina folder by album and put the pic in the folder. works for me, so yes that means if i have a single it goes in its own folder
Very often programs will use the picture from "cover.jpg" or "folder.jpg" (substitute jpg with gif if necessary) when placed in the appropriate folder with the music files. I haven't tried it though since my files have the covers in the tags...
Try MP3tag.
Browse to your music folder > Select all the files by pressing Crtla + A > Right click on the the empty white box on the left panel and select add cover > Select the .jpg cover and click save on the top left hand corner.

mediascanner issue? my music is invisible

So I installed jelly bean when it came out. (Codename Android 3.6.0 at the time of writing, but the problem persists regardless of the specific rom I'm using). I noticed that none of the music players available in the play store can find my music on my sd card. They are all in a folder named mp3, but I even tried renaming it to music - no luck. Also, the only pictures I can see in my gallery are the ones that have been made since the installation of the current rom. Does anyone have an idea how to force the mediascanner to actually scan my media? Damn, I want my media so bad

I have no idea why your music isn't being picked up. That's usually never an issue. Maybe someone else can chime in.
As for the gallery pictures not showing up. Just download Quick Pic from the Play Store. The default Android Gallery has been crying to be put of out of its misery for awhile now. It's terrible and slow. Yes, you can transfer pictures to your device and the gallery will take 5 minutes to eventually display them. Quick Pic is superior and will instantly pick up any pictures you add. No waiting involved.

Thank you for the tip, QuickPic actually solved my gallery issue, what still remains is the music list not showing up in any of the players I have tried... (Winamp, Google Play Music, Apollo, just to name a few)
check if one of the apps in use is the media scanner in a constant state of reboot.
media scanner problems often are caused by malformed jpeg file, the bug usually lies in the Exif information, you can use this tool (http://www.digitalconfidence.com/BatchPurifier.html) to remove Exif information from the file, 95% chance that everything returns to work including music and video because the media scanner is shared and if it hangs on jpeg images then can not catalog other multimedia files.
you will lose data such GPS position but the photo itself will remain intact, many have pointed at Camera360 as one of the sources of these corrupted files and I can confirm that.
I got a similar issue before and is solved by copy all media to a pc, delete the files in the phone, then move them back, see if it can help you

That's an old issue that happened to some when they updated to JB back in July. So, welcome to July.

@madd0g you had better stay off the forums, you are completely useless...
If it's not fixed completely, run a search on your sdcard for files named ".nomedia" and delete them.

Alrighty. Just make sure there are none at the root of the SDcard or in folders where you want pictures to appear. Clockworkmod ROM Manager had a bug back a lil while ago where it put some .nomedia files in wrong folders, making people unable to find their music/picture.

This tip helped me and my Note. Thanks a lot. There were a lot of useless .nomedia files in my SD card.
I already had similar question posted. Got no resolution....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1882847
Anybody have the solution? I am able to see pictures in gallery and videos on my MX player but no music?
I deleted nomedia (found one) and got rid of rom manager but still my music files don't show up with all the players. I can go directly to media/music via root explorer and play it though.
Go to your apps, find Media Storage, and then clear data & cache.
Download Rescan Media from the play store and run it. Wait for a bit (5 minutes should be good) and if you check in your music player(s) you should be able to see your music.
database or cache that the media scan builds is gone

I have done that and everything works fine. BUT! after a battery change or charge (plug in USB cable) the database or cache that the media scan builds is gone. Deleted or corrupted by something. Its back to the same state, no music, video, added ringtones or pics show until a rescan. What could be deleting it?

You might want to try certain media apps like a gallery app. QuickPic for example allow you to choose the location in which the app should search and show pictures from. This can be a general base location. And when you have found a picture you can go to the details and find out the exact location. Unlike the default gallery app (or how it used to be?) QuickPic shows images categorised on folders there in. For video files tr MX Player or another app that will play most formats. MX Player for example should also show all your video files on your phone in folders and the locations in detail view.
Storage analyser apps are also available. they scan your phone storage and show you how much of your storage is filled with audio/video/pics and where that is placed. A less visually attractive but in my opinion a great tool to get a clear view of where you have a lot of MB/GB's you have store is using "Storage analyser" But for finding specific file types this is not the one you need.

ShadowPlay doesn't save video files to Gallery folder

So, as we all know, the K1 tablet (both versions, I have the newest revision), comes with nVidia ShadowPlay built into for video recording, and when you activate manual recording, the videos are saved to the photo/gallery photo on the main tablet's storage and not to an external SD card. Well, it came to my attention that when I record a video, as in starting and stopping when I'm done, the OSD states "recording saved", I look in all the folders and there is no video saved to the tablet. Am I doing something wrong? Is there no way for me to find out if it actually captures and records a video file or am I screwed?

That doesn't really help though, as I'm trying to locate the files so I can upload them to YouTube, or extract them and keep them on my PC so I don't run out of space as the files with ShadowPlay can get quite large, depending on the settings I use. The other problem is that the files are nowhere to be found on the SD card or internal storage, like, at all. I looked in all the folders, not a single MP4 file has been found, what am I doing wrong? What can I do to ensure that a file is actually written to the internal storage? Is there an actual way I can see where it stores the file? I'm getting kinda desperate here, because no matter how many times the app says "recording saved" it doesn't actually save a bloody thing. I must be doing something wrong.
I don't care about seeing the recordings on my tablet, I only care about being able to extract them from the tablet and uploading the files to YouTube from my PC after I copy them. Of course though, no one seems to ever reply to the threads I make anyway, so chances are, you'll be the only one to reply to them, which means this issue will get me nowhere after I reply.

So, does that mean that the files are in fact being recorded and saved, but are just "hidden" in some fashion? I'm just confused as to why they wouldn't give an option to show file in folder or the path, anyways, I installed the app and I do hope it works, that and I hope there's no weird writing permissions lol and thank you. Sorry for bothering ya.

No worries, things like that can get frustrating lol As long as MX Player can find the video (might have to hit the little refresh button) you should be able to locate it

Just tried that program and worked like a charm, it copied the video file to a folder I made in ES Explorer, thank you so much!
Though I do wonder though, where it's storing the videos beforehand, the file explorer shows a folder but cannot be accessed by normal means, I'm thinking it's hidden, and this thing is rooted, so I don't know lol.

Random Video Playback Order?

I'd love a (hopefully simple) feature that simply lets MX Player list the contents of a standard video folder in a random order (which changes every time I start the app) :good:
I've got a fairly large folder of videos that I often watch, but I currently have to scroll down & randomly stop & select one to watch, which is a pain as I'm sure I miss many, but if they were displayed in a totally random order, selecting one from near the top would make my life so much easier!
I've currently got it to display by frame rate as opposed by name, which gives a different (but fixed) order, but this is not really what I want.
Have I missed something & my request is already in the latest MX Player Pro (on Android) ??

You can achieve the same by following.
Just open any video, then ooen menu > Play & enable shuffle. Now just long press the video folder that you want to play randomly & tap on play from the top toolbar. It will play a random file for you.
