No OTA Updates for Indian Users .. A serious Concern? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I heard that there is not going to be any OTA updates for users in India buying through Amazon.in.
I have certain doubts on whether can I buy one now. Can any of you please answer me to the below queries with whatever information you have.
1. It was said that only for those who buy through Amazon.in will not be getting an OTA update. So, I wanted to know is there any other way through which we can buy this mobile and use them in India? If so please help me knowing how to buy one International phone from India.
2. They also keep mentioning about Only Indian users will have such treatment. So if that is the case, as soon as i buy and flash a International Cyanogen ROM will i get this problem fixed; from then will I be able to get OTA updates directly from them even if i bought the product through amazon.in?
3. If above options cannot be a solution, can I atleast have the luxury of downloading each version of Official ROM from this XDA forum and flash it directly to my device? (Is there anything like having various editions for the same model ; For ex. Galaxy S5 G900H is different from S5 G900F hence we cannot use one ROM to the other).
Also is there anyother way to get the updates at par with International version phones if not then I will have to seriously think twice again about buying this phone now.. Please Clarify.

That's a dedicated Indian thread in the General section, you're probably better off asking in there.

Can a different region firmware be flashed on another Note 5 variant?

Hey, what's up guys?
Need some info please....please don't bash me...lol
I will be getting my Note 5 soon and would like to start tinkering with it, I would like to know if i can install another firmware on the device? I did some research and to my understanding, only corresponding firmware can be flashed. e.g. any other country N920i firmware can be flashed on a N920i variant.
I will be getting a T-Mobile variant soon and would like to know if i could somehow wipe the device and flash another variant's firmware?
I know it could be done with the HTC M8 so i'm a bit curious if it can be done with the Note 5 device too.....
p.s. I chose the t-mobile variant because of all the attention and development its been receiving compared to the other models. International variants usually have the most developments, roms and especially faster software updates....but t-mobile seems to have the lead for now with roms etc. Feel free to enlighten/correct me please......

G930F users, Which country?

Planning to try converting GS7 G930FD-Dual SIM to G930F-Single SIM by simply flashing the firmware of G930F.
FYI both are EXYNOS Version
Maybe flashing the right firmware will get the trick working. Will there be any issues with flashing except losing Dual SIM?
Will be good to know in which country is the G930F official sold so as to flash the appropriate firmware from here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G930F/
PS: Bought the Duos version because my country only sells it.
Thanks
I would say keep the Duos version. I'd to buy the duos as my country also sells only that version (yes there are other places to get but without warranty) and the best part for me was no bloatware. None at all.
Things that came pre-installed was general google stuff, MS word/excel/onedrive etc, facebook/whatsapp/intagram and the Samsung's own stuff.

The Global version single sim Exynos(G930F) also comes with minimal bloat.

930U on other US variants, but what about on F?

So I've seen that it's possible to flash the US firmware between the carrier firmware and US international firmware (U). I'm wondering how that is possible since there were problems with the S6 international variants flashing US carrier firmware onto the phones. Does the U use the Snapdragon processor and that's what allows it to be flashed?
The reason I ask is because I know someone with the S6 international (G920I) on T-mobile and wishes to enable WiFi Calling but they don't have that option. I know that this isn't the S6 forum but I noticed people flashing U firmware onto their carrier branded phones and vise versa and figured that those who figured it out would have some understanding as to how it works. I just want to expand my knowledge of why he can't seem to find a solution even though there seems to be some compatibility there.
Thanks for the replies.

Well, it could be possible.. But since this is the forum for the international version of the s7, I think you might have better luck asking that same at the US s7 forums.

I thought this was the general S7 forum, covering all S7's?

Nope, this is only for the international version. For the US version there are four different forums, for all of the carriers. Here's a link to the T-mobile forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s7

a6000/a6003

Guys may I know which version u have? This is the first time I'm going to try op phone so I don't want to make any unnecessary mistake.
Is there any difference between the two in terms of custom rom and rooting availability(such as samsung's exynos is easier to get custom rom and root than other version) ? Or any custom rom will fit to either version?
BTW I'm living in Indonesia, do both will work just fine on my country or do I need a specific version in order to use it here?
Thanks people.
need the answer too, some people said using A6000 outside india or china the 4g network may not working.

I have a6003 here in the u.s..
I have A6003 here in the UK
6003 here in Australia - this is the official International version.. There is a 6000 version going around, which seems to be India based - but is being sold as a "flashed OS" version and sold internationally. I would highly suggest getting the 6003 - it seems the most compatible
6003 is for europe/us.
6000 is for chinese/india.
The difference is just the supported bands (6003 supports much more) and the rom, the rom can be replaced easily.
6003 for US/EU/GLOBAL
6000 is for China/India (no play services, few bands missing etc)
this information was received from oneplus directly.

Depends a little on what is happening.
If you don't get an OTA download, but you see on SamFirm that there is an new firmware for your phone. This can sometimes happen, in that case one way to resolve it is to download the new firmware from a reliable source and flash the phone with Odin. Once done it generally resolves itself, and the next OTA just works normally.
If there aint a new firmware for your phone like its a carrier specific version for your phone, then your out of luck, as you will have to wait for your carrier to make it available. Now in this case there are sometimes options, like i had one phone with a carrier software, but i could also flash the regions general firmware that was available, or one from an other european country. But how this works for your country, you will have to look that up.

Thanks bro i usually download with friza and never encountered any issues but il take your suggestion...my device is open and unlocked we in india dont get carrier locked devices bro...also can u share a valid and reliable link for sm-s908e with ins as region...thanks bro
For unlocked devices the upgrades usually take longer because they need to be sure that it will work with all possible carriers. As an example, I have a carrier unlocked device in Argentina and only 2 days ago I finally received the Android 13 update. So, did you checked in the official pages that there is a new version for your phone?

That is where i get my firmware. In case i need it for my own or somebody else.
Maybe handy to look up on YouTube to see how the process goes, if you dont feel confident in doing this, maybe they can do it at some phone repair shop or something similar.
There should also be a lot of Indian people who wrote about flashing the rom of you phone in your own language.
