All Messed Up after Switching From F2FS (Lollipop) - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't backup any of my apps on titaniumbackup without get an error: Backup Failed: Insufficient Storage...
It all started when I switched my file system from F2FS to EXT4.
I've tried clean wiping.. different roms.. still getting the same results.
Any help
*Edit* I think its a bigger problem. When taking pictures, they don't save. I can't save macro's. I can't backup anything.. WTF!!

Bump...

Be patient my friend...

Can you see the contents of your "SD Card" (Internal Storage) in any file manager?
If not, try changing your SELinux policy to "Permissive" - use the app "SELinux Mode Changer" from the Play Store (requires root). This fixed the issue for me.

Thanks for replying.. I flashed the file system back to F2FS and everything is fine now.
Has this same thing happened to you or just something similar? I still would like to be able to flash back to EXT4 if need be.

I found myself unable to access the Internal Storage from any app after clean flashing the 7/12 build, after previously having no issues on the 2/12 build.
This caused the same sort of errors as you got - couldn't save photos, couldn't download languages for Swiftkey etc.

[Q] Hybrid Data2Sd not working?? [Solved]

I installed the Kyrillos rom agian after switching to ics. I had already partioned my sd card before and hybrid data 2 sd was working fine. Now when i have reflashed the rom, and i started to install my 72 apps via titanium back. After installing some 10 app, it says that i have low system memory and the annoying pop up comes. What should i do?
I have even removed the partion and re-partioned it. Still no help! Please somebody help. I even flashed the rom four times.
Thanks in advance!
P.S. I had posted this is Kyrillos Rom page but no answer from them.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20396589&postcount=11027
I have solved the problem. I forgot to put the sdfiles in the memory card and also forgotten to change titanium back's system prefs
Well check again if you have HD2SD enabled properly or not. Whether you have those files in SDcard or not to enable it. Wipe data again in recovery and try again.

Need to format SD card...

My ROM does not have a format button in the settings, is there another way to format the internal SD space within Android itself?

Quite possibly, kinda. Are you rooted? If so, what recovery are you using? Most recoveries allow you to do this.
Why do u need to format within android? Why not just format from your pc?
Using SeanZ's SkyICS 4.2F r2 v6B ROM / XDA Premium
Boot into recovery, select Mounts and storage then format sdcard/ or emmc whichever one you are wanting to format

this is correct, or as an alternative u could either a) hook it up to a computer, mount it and format, or b) use adb, but I recommend either a or the method gs2usr suggested
im gonna post in this thread instead of making a new one since im having a similar issue.
In CW recovery it'll tell me it cant mount my sd-ext and as well give me an error when trying to install a custom rom from my emmc, so do i need to do a format of both of those in order to get a custom rom to finally install again?
i've had this error ever since i switched back to rogers stock 4.0.4 to try it out
I'm getting errors in cwm too. How can I do it in ADB? Macs don't do fat32 correctly and I don't have a Windows machine.

Figured it out. Please try this and see if it fixes your internal aswell.
So go ahead if you don't have it, ADB install a copy of Root Explorer.
Go into the emmc folder and give it read and write permissions.
Now, in the settings, under storage, it should let you reformat the disk again and you should be okay.
I have no idea what's up with CWR, but we were told not to use it anymore on our Kindles due to it messing with partitions. But this is how I just fixed my Skyrocket, just in time for the fireworks tonight.
when in cwm, mount the emmc first

[Q] Ooops - Tab's funked. Help!

P6800 running Zeta
I was browsing facebook the other night when... shaboom - everything froze. No biggie I thought, I'll just do a little reset (I was getting a few FCs here and there anyway lately) and I'll be good to go...
NOPE. It started bootlooping at the initial Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 screen. I'm able to enter CWM recovery and even wipe the cache and flash ZIP files, but when I try to wipe data/factory reset, wipe the Dalvik cache or restore a Nandroid backupI get a System Error. It doesn't look good.
Is there a way to fix my seemingly funked /system without losing all my internal SD card data (where my Titanium backups reside) or to recover it before a full Odin flash?
Just tried again - it reboots and goes into a loop when I try to wipe data and dalvik, and when I try to restore a previous backup it gives me "Error while restoring /system!"
Any help greatly appreciated before it becomes a $600 door stop
Do you dare to wipe the system folder and follow by flashing another ROM?

Do you mean via Odin? Will I lose the data on my internal SD card by doing that? Is there any way of mounting the device in its current state as external storage on my PC to copy all data before a wipe?
ZhenMing: I'm not sure what you mean, but as I wrote above I am not able to wipe the system folder.
yes you will loose your data... i can give you another advice... but do this one carefully... the reason why your device cant wipe any /system or /data is because the corrupted partition... you need to check it... follow the guide in this thread...
USE ONLY PART 3... follow the guide start from this para to check your device...
Code:
Now we are going to use e2fsck to check our new partitions for errors, but not only, it also fixes some erros and it will even for example create lost & found in /data
So let's go, we'll begin with /system. If you're still in the (parted) shell, use ctrl+c and type "adb shell", then issue the following :

Since you can go into cwm, you can mount your storage and then connect to PC to copy all you want.

But won't it downsize the int sd size, if OP tab still under warranty, better to get it fix by samsung for free and not lost any space.
Just reading the 1st post of the ZETA rom thread.
He says he is using stock Kernel.
He says every 5 lines, that you should full wipe...
without giving any sort of warning that it will eventually brick your device.

Tried that one, but it won't mount unfortunately. The external will no problem, but when I try with the internal it just... well it does nothing. It's a bummer cause all my most recent backups are on the internal. Any other way of retrieving my data short of extracting the chip?
Giving it back to Samsung sounds like the best option, but I'm worried cause it has a custom ROM and it's rooted. Anyone has experience doing that?
Also I thought full wipes were good, but you're saying they eventually brick the device? How come? I thought having a custom recovery meant it would be virtually impossible to brick my device... and the weird thing is that it happened during normal usage, not while flashing.
Anyway, my priority is obviously to get my tab working again, but retrieving my internal data is second highest. Isn't there a flashable ZIP that would copy the contents of the internal SD into an external SD card? Surely this has happened to someone before me?
Thanks for all the answers, really appreciated!

nope it wont... the 3rd stage on that thread command for just check and fix the corrupted partition... its like when we force boot windows... it will run on a little diagnostic software to check the drive... same concept.

Gotcha! Will try that one and post result - thanks!
how did your partition check go?
i'm annoyed that some partitions can be corrupted randomly even doing some mundane stuffs
even on stock ICS fw, i encountered DATA corruption by just deleting a contact
i guess you have softbrick..
here is what i did:
-flash stock Honeycomb firmware using Odin
-forced tablet into stock recovery mode
-wipe Cache/Data/Factory Reset
- reboot
when your tab is working again you could backup files from your internal EMMC and you could flash ROMS from there

Thanks for that. I haven't tried anything yet as I'm away till Weds, but I will then and let you know. So you're saying by flashing stock HC via Odin and wiping/resetting everything through stock recovery I won't lose my internal storage data?
that's what i experienced..but i could not guarantee that it will be the same for your device
i noticed that because old folder are not deleted when i rebooted, but i haven't checked if the system folders are cleared
to have a clean reflash i also format/sdcard on recovery..but don't do this on stocl ICS recovery since you might risk increasing the damage
try to format via odin the Honeycomb fw first [don't put PIT file neither enable Repartion, just normal flash]
then force it to enter recovery mode when it bootloops after reset
you might fix your device this way if it has softbrick
just resort to using PIT/repartition as your last option
Again I would not recommend repartition when tab still under warranty. Repartition the last resort only if the tab is without warranty after failing all other alternatives.

There's an xposed module to give access to the external sd. Also on the forum are instructions on how to modify your platform.xml to do the same thing. Did you search?
Not really, because it work it with application sdcard fix

After each reboot the system go to read only. Because of that I can use the SD card...

If your sdcard is being mounted read only it's failed stability checks...you should copy your data off and reformat it (preferably on a pc and tell it to do a full format...try using fat32 instead of exfat also)....you may have some bad areas on it.
The idol 3 can be very picky about sd cards...I ended up having to go out and buy a samsung because it hated my sandisk one which has been rock steady in all other devices...the sandisk would randomly not mount at all and have to be reformatted.

SM-G930F SDCard write only

I have just bought an S7 (SM-G930F) after years and years with my trusty S3 9-9300...
I have rooted it and installed TWRP. Otherwise stock. Added most of my trusty apps and 64Gb SD Card.
I have an odd senario. I can access the card and I can andd and make changes to content, BUT there are some things I can not do, such as change ownership and permissions, but more importantly, I can not back up using Titanium Backup. TB says the card is fuill, but further investigation it won't allow it to store to the card. It says it is read only.
How do I fix this very annoying delema, any one, please?

Hi
did you do all the steps posted in the TWRP page , specially Wipe Data?
Well I didn't follow those steps, but I did wipe the data partition just by chance.
What do you think ithe problem is and do you think it can be fixed without yet another rebuild - I have done so many to get the phone working.

Hi
I think that the data partition is still encrypted or not totally decripted that is why you do not have full access
TWRP Op step 10
Only if you want internal storage or data to work in TWRP:
Go to [Wipe] -> [Format Data] (not advanced wipe) -> type "yes".
WARNING: This will wipe your internal storage, disable encryption, and factory reset your phone!
Go to [Reboot] -> [Recovery].
You need to format data ( no just wipe) to get full access
I would try to install again TWRP ( all steps) but of course the problem is your data will be gone
OK, but how does that help the SDCard?????
I ask as I want to make absolutly sure as I now have no backup as I had deleted all the TB files.

Hi
Did you see @*Detection* comments , FAT is not the same as FAT32 , format the sd card in your PC and make sure you select FAT32
SO using my rooted file explorers, the issue seems to be that SDcard is owned by root and is rwxr-xr-x and I can't change it...

Take the card out of the phone, put it in a reader and connect to PC USB
Use something like minitool partition wizard free to delete all the partitions on the card, create a new primary partition, format to FAT32
Put it back in the phone and see how you get on

Hi
+1 @*Detection*
Also you are 100% you are root ? check with something like Root Checker to make sure
I had using gParted - I use Linux machines, still the same and I re rooted several times. and via other rooted S3s. Same.
I think that this is an ownership/group issue. The mount directory is "storage" owned by root, and it is interesting the two of my root file managers see it and the card as rwx-rwx-rwx and others as rwx-r_x-r__
and I suspect that apps like TB, parted (partition manager), Apps to SD, etc. are seeing the same. However, even with the file manager apps that see full access I can not change ownership or rw privileges..... REALLY ODD!!!!!!
SOLVED!!!! Hope this helps others.
In TWRP, Advanced, File Manager.... Find the SD Card, the change the permisions to 0015 This is the SDCard Group/ownership. It all works great now.
To tidy up I need to create a new mount point in / or storage and then a line in fstab. Know how to do that in Linux/Ubuntu, but not in Android even though it is one the same.
Any helps Please?????
