Im using the beanstalk 4.4.2 rom and im trying to change the bootanination to the s5 bootanimation when i try the copy and past method it doesnt work it just leaves me with the blueish green android word animation. Is there something specific that needs to be done with a kitkat rom to make the bootanimation stick?

I am trying to get the Nexus Prime Boot Animation to work on my rooted I727 stock rom and kernel.
I have tried placing the bootanimation.zip in both these locations and it doesn't work.
/data/local
/system/media
I just want to get rid of the ATT animation any help would be great.
AT&T has the worst boot animation ever! It would be nice to get that leaked Galaxy Nexus animation on there.
Confirming the locations in the OP doesn't change the boot animation. I've also tried all of the free apps in the market. Ugghh..
This is what happens when Samsung decides to use their own customized boot animation instead of the standard Android method. I'm sure there will be a workaround soon enough...
ace plus on standard 2.3.6 rom build number gingerbread.xxlc3 . rooted, busybox. cant get bootanimation working , i removed the shutdown.qmg file and replaced it with stock galaxy s111 qmg file. that runs fine no problem, have also replaced the bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg files in system/media. but when i boot phone up there is just black screen were the original animation was but sound is still working, have i missed something.. phone was on virgin network and had virgin boot animation. also i cant flash clockworkmod rom as it dont list my phone , please help i had the same problem with a s5830 and completely bricked my phone when i accidentally made wrong phone choice when flashing recovery. making the phone completely unrecoverable even tried usb jig.
You should not delete these files rather use custom rom's for boot animation.... find one in my signature.... and help me if you know something about usb otg... link below...

unfortunately dont know what otg means, but good news my phone all sorted , couldn't download your rom but did manage to dowload and install the alacritous v3 rom , which works brill, and gives an ics flavour to the settings, status bar etc, i have removed some system apps and replaced the tw launcher with holo launcher pro which converts nicely to a system app and have integrated it into the rom, along with ics messaging and exdialer pro and a few other apps (leaving me with 280mb free rom system memory)... also managed to flash clockworkmod 5.5.04 which works very well and dosent suffer from bootloop problems, and the trebon kernel update using cwm, phone running great and i am very happy with the results many thanks to everyone and keep up the good work:laugh:
I know it's been asked before and there's been no answer. So I'll ask again. I'm running Bean's v6 and while it's a great ROM (I think SD Card usage is high because of my Nandroid blobs) I wanted to tweak the boot animation to that of a regular Verizon Galaxy S3. From a stock OTA install of a Galaxy S3, I transferred bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg to System/Media on my phone while renaming bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.bac. Thing is now I only get the default ANDROID boot animation. When I check Data/Local (the other boot animation location) I find nothing in the folder. I am using the kernel from here. So while the kernel supports boot animations, where can I find a working zip of the original boot animation for the Verizon Galaxy S3?
I believe Clean ROM thread has the stock one meant for your kernel. Look in the op

Thanks for the response! However, after flashing the zip found in the second post here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832070 I only have a blank screen after the 'Samsung Galaxy S III' static screen. On the plus side I think my phone is booting a bit faster. On the negative side it isn't the original (or any) boot animation that came with my phone. I'm cool with this too... any other recommendations on how to get the original animation back? At this point, at the very least, I'm thinking I'll need to reflash the kernel to get back custom animation support.
ok so i had an og droid then got a droid 3 now i have an amazing gs3. im not used to samsung phones but on my moto phones i had custom boot audio to go along with a custom boot animation and splash screen. custom splash screen and boot animation no problem. im on pacman rom gapps 4.2.1 and i have a copy of system/media/ from stock firmware with poweron.ogg and poweroff.ogg etc some of the sounds from the ui folder work but i can not figure out how to get the power on sound to work. i tried placing boot_audio.mp3 in system/media i have an .ogg version as well i just dont know what im doing wrong or what i can do to enable the power on sound because it seems to be disabled on this rom lack of system/media/ui files i replaced the files with stock. permissions something like that rw-rw-r-. what can i do help please?
Sorry don't know much about boot audio, but how did you get custom splash on 4.2 ROM mine is plain black screen after I flashed with zip from splash screen creator in themes and mods section

I'm looking to put the original Verizon 4G/LTE boot animation with the music and all back into my phone that's using CleanROM 6 r2. I'm looking for either a flashable zip file, or a bootanimation.zip file that I can put in /system/media with permissions 644. I tried working with the one from here that looked like a good bet, and all I got was a blank page during boot:
http://www.scottsroms.com/showthread.php?2668-Kernel-Request&
Did anyone else have any luck with flashing the above boot animation, or have a source for one that might work? I've been looking for some time, and haven't found anything that works yet.
Really like CleanROM, and really liked the original Galaxy S3 boot animation as well...no accounting for taste, I guess *smile*.
Thanks very much.
