Moto G Re-Locked Sim - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there i have a 1st Gen Moto G that i have had a while. It was sold to me as unlocked but never actually used another sim.
I recently sold it on and the buyer cannot use it with another sim and is asking for network unlock code
Purchased one off ebay but told its not correct and all other codes come back the same
he has then tried a sim from the same network as me....this now leads me to believe something really wrong has somehow gone on
When i sold it i reflashed the original Rom onto it. Have i done something in doing this??

Be careful with that one!
The version sold by Meteor is marked "EURetailSL". The device is unlocked when you take it out of the box, but it will be locked to the network of the first SIM inserted.

Yeah i would definitely like someone with a bit more know how to have a look at this
How can a sim card write to the phone to lock it? I dont understand how it can do that.....i

It must coded into the smartphone not the SIM card. I wonder whether flashing the phone to retail UK firmware prior to inserting a SIM for the first time would eliminate said feature or not.

There was same situation with crApple's iPhones from CPW. First inserted SIM locked the iThing to SIM provider.
But you had to be fast and "don't " let the sales monkey insert the purchased SIM into the phone
I bought a Moto G from Meteor before Christmas, chucked my Vodafone SIM into it, worked fine, put my Meteor SIM in after and no go. Just bought an unlock after rather than trying to deal with Meteor, but still strange that they've done this at all.
I do wonder if I had flashed another retail ROM like the UK one or something, would it have still locked.

[Q] Switch to Straight Talk?

Is it possible to switch either of these phones
http://www.amazon.com/Moto-Boost-Mobile-Prepaid-Phone/dp/B00HPP3VW2
http://www.amazon.com/Moto-Verizon-Prepaid-Phone-Only/dp/B00HPP3QD6
to Straight Talk Wireless? I know switching them to Republic or a few other CDMA-based networks won't work, but since Straight Talk has a Bring-Your-Own-Phone option, is there any way to switch it over to them? Rooting/flashing custom stuff is fine, as I will likely flash either CM or AOSP soon after I get it.
Thank you so much!

I have Boost and called them yesterday about getting a carrier unlock code for the Moto G and they acted like they had no clue what so ever about what a carrier unlock code is and since motorola told me the phone is locked to boost then using it on ST will probably not happen. Verizon is probably just as bad about locking the phone to their network and refusing to give out the code. Now you may be able to get a unlock key from some one online which was what Motorola also was one of my options. Now with that being said ST does have a GSM version of the Moto G and you may just want to check into that.

Verizon currently has all devices esn on their network kind of blacklisted. If you attempt to flash to page plus you will receive an error saying esn isnt clean. After 6 months of service verizon releases you form the black list, so i guess after 6 months the moto g can be flashed to companies that accept BYOP.

SIM unlock AT&T XT1045
eBay vendors are reporting they can't find unlock code for AT&T XT1045. Doe anyone know reliable place for unlock code?
TIA
Sorry, I appreciate this is a really old thread, but I wanted to share my experience of trying to SIM unlock a Moto G 4G locked to Tesco. I unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone to use TB and AdAway. I tried to get a SIM unlock code from various vendors on eBay but all gave refunds as they couldn't find an unlock code.
I paid £10 to Tesco but they couldn't get a code and said they passed it on to Motorola. I heard nothing so went direct to Motorola Support. They confirmed my IMEI was correct but said they did not have an unlock code, a subsidy code they called it. They were polite but constantly said they had no code. I pressed them and eventually they told me they couldn't help as I had rooted my phone and they couldn't access my SIM unlock code. I said I had applied to unlock the bootloader and asked had my phone told them what I had done to it? Did they not have records of each code for each IMEI? They ignored that and repeated they didn't have a code for me.
Now, call me cynical, but I suggest Motorola are refusing to help or deleted the SIM unlock code when I applied to unlock my bootloader, as to my understanding the two are not linked on the phone and unlocking the bootloader has no effect on the SIM lock. I have passed the matter back to Tesco but am not going to hold my breath.
My advice would be to look at SIM unlocking your Moto G first before anything else, then unlock the bootloader after that.
hey.
just a quick message for anyone else that runs into this issue. i also had problems unlocking my moto g 4g (xt1039) locked to tesco mobile. i had rooted and unlocked bootloader, and was buying unlock codes from various sellers on ebay, but each one said code not found for my imei and they refunded me.
eventually a seller messaged me saying that the regular server had rejected my imei, but that an unlock code could be obtained from 'motorola not found server' for £2.99. so i paid the cash and got the code about 1-2 days later. can't post a link as this is a new account, but seller is mnz technologies.
IMEI 355488060966817 Globe Telecoms Motorola Moto G. Thanks. Can you still unlock it?

[Q] at&t locked motorola moto g xt1045 peregrine

so i bought this motorola moto g for around $200(225 after case and screen protector) im on a plan my mom pays for, we have been on the same plan for quite some time (8+yrs) ive been looking everywhere and i cant get the bootloader unlocked ive tried multiple times on the motorola site it keeps coming back as unavailible for unlocking, if i was to sim unlock this phone, seeing as i qualify for a new 2 year contract upgrade in 2 months, would i be able to unlock the bootloader after i free my phone from at&ts deathgrip? or am i just out of luck at this point? also is there any suggestions as to which model i should choose next that has alot of customizable/root options thats at&t

one plus 7 pro tmobile dual sim tray and same imei for both slots

I bought a oneplus 7 pro from someone through offerup
i had an old samsung j7 that had dual sim functionality that i need for work and productivity so when it came time for an upgrade i bought the oneplus as it was advertised as a dual sim phone by the guy who sold it to me.
at the time of purchase, i just opened the settings and saw that it had two sim settings (sim 1 and sim2) and i naturally assumed that it was a dual sim phone.
i also plugged my att sim and figured that it is unlocked. i also did a factory reset and there was no branding for any carrier when i started the device.
therefore i just assumed that this is the unlocked dual sim version.
however, once i got home and tried to put the two sim cards in it and i quickly realized that the sim tray can only fit one sim.
when i called oneplus support about this, they said the phone is designed as single sim and that it was a tmobile phone and thats about all the info they gave me.
i went to tmobile store and they confirmed the phone is unlocked and paid off but they wouldnt help
me any further with the dual sim functionality.
upon quick google search i found a dual sim tray for the phone and ordered it. it is arriving today. I am thinking that all i have to do is just install the new dual sim tray and have dual sims working.
however now that I am looking at the settings more clearly i see that the imei for both sim slot settings are the same.
i checked the firmware on the phone and it seems that guy who sold it to me installed the nonbranded firmware but i am not sure if it is still the tmobile branded firmware. Does the Tmobile firmware startup with the Tmobile logo? how can i know i am running the latest international firmware ?
are the imei numbers the same because it is still on the tmobile firmware?
the build number it reads is 9.5.11.GM21AA
Also, if i pop the two tmobile sims in it, will the device be blacklisted simce they both will have the same imei?

You are running international firmware.
The software is strange and just like the 6T it reports only one IMEID.
If you put in two SIMS they will have different IMEID.
Look in the forums for threads on T-Mobile converted to dual sim.
Thank you for the quick reply. The dual sim trey will arrive today so I will try it and report back.
Thank you.

If he is running a T-Mobile op7 that has been converted to International then he only has one IMEI. That same IMEI can be used in both Sim slots but you were wanting to be careful if you're using the same provider for example and an mvno that is on T-Mobile and then a second Sim that is also on T-Mobile although T-Mobile is one of the few that is pretty relaxed about duplicates. If you're on something like AT&T you'll want to pay a lot more attention.
If you are using two completely different Networks then you should not have an issue.
I know this works because I am using a T-Mobile version that was converted to International myself with a dual SIM tray.
If when the phone boots up you see that T-Mobile logo then you were still on the T-Mobile software. On the international version you'll see a little Android droid logo at the bottom and a OnePlus logo.

Hi,
New around here...
Any idea on how to unlock a T-mobile locked One Plus 7 Pro?
T-Mobile says I don't qualify for unlocking as I'm the 3rd owner and not having a T-Mobile account and SIM.
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated as I'm going to inEurope for a while and need to insert local SIM cards for better rates.
Many thanks
Cris
