[Bug Report] wtv files not played via Paragon USB stick Plugin for Total Commander - MX Player

Have an external USB harddrive connected via the "Paragon USB stick plugin" for Total commander.
Mplayer plays all movies with one exception: Recorded TV in wtv format files.
The same files play fine when I copy them to the SD card, they play fine also via the "LAN plugin" for Total commander.
They even play with VLC player even via this "Paragon USB stick plugin" for Total commander.
So the problem is only the combination of MX-Player and this specific plugin. I will report this problem also to them if you suggest this.
I attached a zip with the log files.
With kind regards

Wow, that is a unique issue. @bleu8888 if you have any insight into this.

Look like a network related issue
Total commander forwards a local host address to mx player i.e video url is like http://127.0.01:port/****
According to the logs, H/W decoder reverted with error since it's unsupported format. But, I can't find any error from ffmpeg (which will appear when S/W fails to decode).
So, in my view logs look like incomplete. But, developer may get some clue from your logs
Can you reproduce the issue & collect the logs again?

Yes sure. I attached again a log. But it will not make much difference. MX Player - after asking if the file should be started from begin or where I left it off - is just showing the round hour glass - and this forever. However I can click on the screen, I see that the SW Decoder is running. Then I click to create the LOG file. HW decoder is not available for these "wtv" files.
I uploaded such a wtv file to my google drive. Here is the link for you:

it's 2022 and im running android 12 on google pixel 3, having a similar issue with this 'exfat/ntfs for usb' plugin, but it's worse than yours because with whatever video file type total commander doesnt recognize mx player as a media player at all, i tried mp4, mkv, mov none of them can be open both via total commander and within mx player interface, meanwhile other available players like google photos, mixplorer, f-stop gallery, etc. all appeared in pop-up menu to choose which one to play video with;
anyone has idea how to make this thing get recognized by total commander? i would really appreciate your help, thank you

TCMP and youtube - flv plugin

i didn't see anyone posting this before - i just found out about this plugin, i tried it and it works! for all of you who are tired of converting flv to avi in order to watch it on your ppc, theres a solution. it also comes with utilities to ease the downloading of video from youtube.com, i tried, also works a charm. good luck, and thanks to the creators!
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=196939
I don't able to play the video:
I put the 3 files in the tcmp folder (in sd card)
I don't able to play the video on the you-tube page
and I don't able to play the video flv (downloaded by youtubedownload.exe) on the player
I run O.72 version with the plugin of 0.81
How you get it successfully?
thanks
Enough only to put the two files .flv in the root TCPMP.
With the others files you are able to download the tape directly on ppc, enough to launch YouTube Download on device..

you mean .plg files i assume. but right, that's what you should do. then also you can edit options>preferences>file associations in tcpmp so then you can launch tcpmp doubleclicking flv file (it is called flash video in options)
uvz: i don't know what's wrong - it works with tcpmp v. 0.71 - my plugin version is 0.2, have no idea how can i help :/
ok, I found the reason..
The 3 files I downloaded was all exe file (??)
I download the zip folder in other place and I found the correctly .plg files.
So now I can play the video on tcpmp, by downloading with the exe.
But I'm not able to stream video directly from you-tube page: it's normal?
I can only download the video and then play with tcpmp, or there are a possibility to open and play directly from the you-tube page by streaming with tcpmp?
Finnaly... I'm now able to play .flv files... horray!!!
I've copied the flv plugin to the TCMP folder and I think they're correctly installed. However when playing youtube vids, it connects to HTC Streaming Media which unfortunately doesn't run vids on my Kaisser.
Do I have to remove streaming Media so that youtube would connect to TCMP when vids are selected? How can I select streaming media into my TCMP?
Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.
TCPMP streaming problems with WM6
I have an HTC touch cruise with wm6 and I am unable to stream flv files.
I have installed the TCPMP program and I think I installed tcpmp plugin 0.4.2.
When I install the plug in, do the files automatically install themselves in the TCPMP root file??? and how are they identified.
It shows in my settings/system/Remove programs , the TCPMP and TCPMP plugin are both installed Could some one please post step by step install instruction or direct me to one .
Thanks

Save in a different video format?

I absolutely hate that the phone saves video's in ".mp4" and have some weird sort of "amr" audio codec involved? I can view these video's just fine on the phone, but if I pull them over to my computer, they play without sound. I have tried VLC, Quicktime, WMP, etc.
Now, I can rename the file extension to ".3gp" and it plays without any problems in Quicktime. But if I try to play it in VLC with the pre-defined extension, it says it doesn't have "SAMR" support, and only plays the video. I Googled it, found out all the reasons why (proprietary), and why it wouldn't ever be supported in VLC.
But is there any way to change the format the phone saves it in? It would be nice to able to send these video's from your phone to a friend and know that they could view it just fine.
I looked in Settings under the Camera....and nada.
Thanks!

From the video camera screen, go to Menu/Advanced/Capture Format and change it to H.263.
You are correct about changing the .mp4 extension to .3gp to allow it to play in Quicktime. But you should be able to play H.263 files on your computer without any changes.
I left mine in .mp4 and just downloaded the Klite codec pack, which lets you play .mp4 videos in classic win media on your laptop/PC. Works well on my laptop. Just make sure you choose custom install and deselect all the video options except for mp4 format. Otherwise it will conflict with other existing codecs such as divx.

Absolutely agree with Klite. All the time I install Windows,I don't use anything else than Klite codec pack in combination with very old(but really rocking) player ViPlay on all PCs/Ntbs in my surround. I can play almost everything without any problem.

Thank you, that worked. I had to actually make sure I was in video mode FIRST, then go to settings and the option to change the format was there.
Thank you!
And to others, I'm not complaining about not being able to watch the video on my own soo much...but I'd like to know that I could send the video out to friends and have a higher success rate in them being able to play the video.

Copy avi files to tf700t

Hello.
I tried to look this up but I cannot find an answer. This is my problem:
I do not have a dock. I connect USB to my PC. I try to copy an avi file to the tabled SD. I get a warning that the avi file will not play once copied.... and yes, it does not play.
I share a folder on my PC and I connect using the same program (Archos) on the tablet to the share. The same avi file plays no problem over wifi. I try to copy over wifi from PC to tablet, same problem.
I tried both the SD and the internal memory.
I took the SD out and used it with a data writer on the PC.
One time, a few months ago, but I do not remember what I did, I was successful. Those 3 movies are on the SD card and they play, so it should not be the SD card.
If anybody has any idea, I would much appreciate. Thank you.
I've played avi videos with BSplayer free without any issues. I also use AirDroid to transfer files from my computer to my tablet.
I'm it familiar with the software you are using but perhaps it's time to try something different
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk 2
I am sure that the tf700 can handle avi files easily. Have you tried the following players (available for free on Google Play Store): Dice Player, MX Player, BS Player? All of these video players can handle almost anything.

Thanks for responding. Considering that I can play anything with the same player, on the tablet, from a share on the PC, I think the player has nothing to do with it. Also, the message that it will not play is given by Windows explorer, which should not know what player I am going to use.
What are you guys using to copy the files from PC to tablet? Windows Explorer or something else?
Thank you.

I seriously believe that there is something wrong with your Windows driver for the tablet. I just simply follow a very standard procedure:
1. Connect the tablet to a PC with Windows Vista or later (which fully support MTP) using the USB cable.
2. Navigate to the tablet's internal storage using Windows Explorer and paste the videos you want to play. The warning saying that your device may not be able to play the files is really irrelevant, you can ignore it and proceed to copy. The reason for that warning is because MTP assumes that your tablet cannot play avi files, and all Android devices using MTP will have this annoying alert.
3. Use the player suggested in previous posts to play. I must disagree with you regarding the role of players, especially when certain players have better support for Tegra 3 SoCs than others, hence the need for different video players. More importantly, avi is just a container, the important thing is the codec being used (h.264, MPEG-4, etc...). For example, a h.264 high profile video at 40 Mbps in an mp4 container is unplayable on my HTC Sensation even though mp4 is officially supported by my phone.
In all seriousness, it should be as simple as that. If it still doesn't work, you should try using a different Windows machine.
I get that message for literaly everything I copy to my TF700 and my SGS3 through Windows Explorer: .avi, .jpg, .bmp, .png, .mp4, .mp3, .srt, .doc, .txt, .wmv....
I use MXplayer (primary), BSplayer(secondary) and Diceplayer(tertiary) : They all play it fine. You get that error message in Windows because Android's stock player doesn't recognise the file when it's placed in the file manager. (duh, it's incomplete during transfer). Just hit 'yes to all'.
Try playing it with another app. Frankly other videoplayers are also far more advanced than the rather crappy stock app. Those three ^ play everything.

[Q] Cm 11, Moto G, no Media shown or played by Apollo and VLC

Hello Sirs.
trying since a while.
Apollo does not show any media files. It states (in German) something like "use an USB cable to download media files from your computer"
VLC shows the files with index picture, however crashes when I try to play them. Sometimes it ends with no message, sometimes it just shows (again in German) "VLC stopped".
The media files are flv and mp4 format. I copied them from my linux machine via USB in MTP modus.
The target folder was Music or Movies
The Galery App (Google Video Player) can at least play those mp4 files, so i believe, this is not an issue of file format and/or codec.
My phone runs the falcon M6 snapshot and has no google apps installed.
This problem occured for me in the earlier Snapshots as well.
is there a dedicated log directory on android and CM like /var/log/ that I could check for relatetd errors?
Any hint?
best regards

Cannot play video from ES file explorer smb share.

Hi,
I have a NAS that share video file with smb, I used to open these files in ES file explorer and it will give me the option to open it in MX player. Recently I got my Nexus 6P with Android 6.0.1, and there is no such option anymore. The video will always default to use es file explorer video play. Anyway I can fix this?
Update:
I noticed in the app details page on the phone there is a "Open by default" option and inside there is "supported links" which has the value "*" . Maybe this is the cause? I used to developed an app that forwards intent to mx player and if I use "*" it will not work. I had to provide mime type so mx play show in the open list. Another thing I noticed is the problem is not only for MX player but for all other video streaming supported players. So it must be something changed in Marshmallow.
Thanks.

Is this a empty answer?
@ktsamy seems your post got posted blank.
Regarding the OP, hmm, I wonder if instead the problem is on ES's side. I don't know much about this area, though.
Same here, I can't get to make mx player appear in the list of players capable of playing a video from a smb share or a local dlna renderer
Issue still exists.
@zhumingvictor
@obladi64
@TeoLinuX
@CDB-Man
The issue is from the android itself.
There are 2 major issues.
1. Android 6 has a issue which will lead to disappearance of Apps. If you set app as default & Then clearing the defaults, many apps including MX, BS, VLC have disappeared from open with list. There is no way to bring them back other than uninstalling/disabling the app which you have set as default earlier in order to bring the missing apps back to list. The issue was reproducible even in Stock Nexus devices. But, it was fixed in 6.0.1
2. Pathpattern no longer works with many third party apps in newer android versions when host is set to *. This is one of the major issue. But, When you remove the host entry as you suggested, some apps will list MX Player incorrectly for unknown contents for a unknown reason. One more thing is that Google Chrome & Stock brower doesn't list the app for video files when it's removed. So, it can't be removed straight away.
BTW, after lot of test & trails I have found the solution for the issue. I have forwarded the same to the MX Player developer as well. It's now fixed on MX Player code base. Next update will bring the fix to both issues.
Thanks for your effort. My workround is to make MX player default for all required file types by opening files from local storage. Than MX Player will be default for smb files too.
