I recently bought one of these for 9.99 from Kroger I-Wireless when they were on sale.
I was just wondering if anyone had managed to find the firmware for it.
I'd like to root my phone, but none of the current roots (towelroot, etc) work for the Android version/patchset the phone comes default on, so I want to find the firmware to install a custom recovery and flash my phone.
I've already looked on the yulong site, the firmware is nowhere to be found.
Thanks for the help,
- Droplion

You may ask the vendor, check the manufacturer site, search the internet or ask in the Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > [Ask Any Question][Newbie Friendly] thread.

CWM not compatible and can't find phone in TWRP. Any ideas?
Hello. If I understand you correctly, you are searching for a Recovery for your device. Unfortunately a quick search turned up no Recovery for your Device. I would advice you to post up i the link below.

Thank you. After doing a lot of digging and a couple weeks I got CMW to work. Seems that my phone is a chopped up version of another.
Glad to hear you got it sorted

Hi, I've bought a Chinese tablet; http://www.tabletspecsreview.com/ippo-v12-affordable-10-1-inch-kitkat-tablet-specs-review/
My problem is that it doesn't have root permissions. It came with superSu pre-installed but it updated itself via play store and i cannot update the binaries. I tries both normal method and via recovery but since it has an unknown recovery by the manufacturer it failed to install. I searched for various methods on how to root like vroot, towelroot, and many others but in vain. Could someone direct me on how to proceed.

Okay thanks I'll ask for help there.
well I posted there but nobody seems to care...disappointing
I wouldn't put it that way. You need to remember, the older or less popular a device is, the fewer people who own it. Even fewer that own it and come to XDA. Unanswered threads aren't usually from members not bothering to answer.... It's more likely no one knows how to help.
In these cases, a google search of make and model number would likely be a good idea. ?
Hope you find answers. Thread closed.
Hey, new user here.
Please guys if there is anyone who has found a safe and phone specific rooting method for this phone please help. I recently got it as a gift from China. Changing the language does not get rid of the annoying Chinese text on certain apps i cant even delete. Furthermore, no Google Apps come with the phone (i guess as a result of China hating Google).
Also, is it possible to use other similar Lenovo rooting methods or do i risk bricking my brand new phone?
Hi,
I can't find anything relevant on XDA for your device. You can try one of the generic root methods at the top of the list here,

Hi,
I can't find anything on XDA specific to your device, but you can try one of the generic root methods found here,

And if those don't help, you could ask for help here,

My device caught a bad virus and needs to be removed with a firmware replacement. I tried the root path but it still is stuck there. Any idea where I could find a firmware for a platinum 5.0 phone? Sky devices does not provide any flashing tools or even firmwares on their site. I did check for other threads for the platinum 5.0 edition of sky devices but I didn't see any. So thought I'd just go ahead and post my problem which I have with my phone. Malwarebytes said there was two viruses on the phone. One is Shinymobi funweather app. And the other is like a wsw*.apk which says its a trojan. The other is a PUP. Please help if possible. Thanks. Oh and after reading the thread for what to post. It is running the official firmware from the company itself. Not a custom rom at all.
