Phone stuck after factory reset - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I have a rooted XT1032 and as the 5.0 update is around the corner i thought i'd start from scratch so everything would be as smooth as possible. I backed up all my files and I commenced with the factory reset. The problem is that after turning off, my phone wants to enter CWM, but is not able and keeps on trying(i think this is due to the fact that the factory reset deleted some CWM files). I only see Andro for about half a second every 5-6 seconds.
Do you have any idea what i could do?
I tried pressing the power button and power+volume down, but nothing seems to work..
So i was playing with and i pressed the power button for 20 seconds and it came back to it's initial state. CLOSED

Factory reset is broken when rooted...simply flash your stock image

[Q] AT&T HTC One X Stuck at Viper XL Animation Screen

Hey guys,
I'll apologize in advance, since I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had this problem. I did try to use the search function, google, you name it. Didn't really come across any results that reflected my problem.
That all being said...
Tonight, my phone "died." I've been running Venom Viper XL for sometime now with no issues other than a pretty quick battery drain.
I was logging into 4square to check in tonight and I was getting a GPS error and a Wi-Fi disabled pop up. So I go into settings and check the Location stuff, turn the Google crap back on. Go back into 4square, same thing. I go back to the location settings, they were off again. Turned them back on. Saw that my wi-fi was enabled but "disconnected" so I disabled/enabled. Then my phone drops to the Viper XL splash screen. Tried to hold the power button to recycle it. HTC screen comes up, then to the Viper XL splash and stops. I tried a hard factory reset (volume down + power), same thing.
I can't get to anything. I plug it into my pc, can't get to anything.
I'm not sure what version of the Venom ROM I'm running. As far as I know, I haven't updated it in several months, even though something came out in September.
Am I stuck?
Firstly, volume down plus power isn't a factory reset, it's a hard reset. A factory reset is a very different thing. Have you tried flashing the ROM again or restoring a backup?

I just now was able to get into recovery. I'm running a back up and will go from there.
Thank you for responding though.
Ok, cool. In future you should probably exhaust possible options before creating a new thread though.

Like I said... I searched for a couple hours, so I thought I had. I can see how nearly every thread in here is pretty much started with "Search more." I didn't want to be one of those guys.
For anyone else reading that may have a similar issue:
As long as your phone turns on, you should be able to get to the bootloader. My problem was ignorance on this part, I didn't think I was able to.
1. Hold the power button + volume down until you get into the bootloader. I found that if I held these down, release when the screen went blank, then immediately pushed them down and held them, it got me into the bootloader.
2. Boot into recovery.
3. Take a back up of your stuff.
4. Re-install your ROM. If you don't have a copy of your ROM saved on your phone, plug your phone into your computer and mount your storage. This should make your phone storage available to your PC. Copy your ROM over to your phone, re-install.
5. Reboot. Though my phone was stuck in a restart loop after this. I initially did a reflash with the latest version of Viper XL without wiping. I went back into recovery and did a new install with a wipe. Problem solved.
6. Once you're sure your phone is back up and running, reboot into recovery and do a restore of your data from the back up you made earlier.
7. Enjoy having a phone again.

So many people are confused about how to get into bootloader. The main reason is that vol down needs to be held and not at any point released, until you get into bootloader. But the power button actually has to be released. The easiest way to accomplish this is:
- If the screen is on at all, hold both the power button and vol down until the capacitive buttons flash several times and the screen turns off. Once the screen is off, release the power button but keep holding vol down until you are in bootloader.
- If the screen is still black (or phone was powered off to begin with) simply keep holding vol down, and press the power button for a few seconds, then release it. But again, always holding vol down until the bootloader comes up.
If the phone boots normally, or goes to the boot splash, its almost always because you pressed vol down too late, or let go of it too early. As long as the screen comes on, failure to get into bootloader is almost always due to this user error.
People will often say "Press power and vol down" for bootloader. But this isn't really a complete and accurate description. And likely the reason why a lot of folks get confused.
Aside from this failure to get into bootloader, the remainder of your issue would have been easily solved if you had just originally had a nandroid on your phone. Recovering would have been as easy as:
1) Bootloader
2) Boot recovery
3) Restore nandroid
4) Keep on trucking
I'm surprised how so many people lately seem to be the practice of flashing ROMs or other mods without first making a nandroid backup. This to me is just a fundamental step in the process, and good basic practice. Failure to do so either signifies lack of knowledge, or doing mods in a careless fashion. Either way, its not good.
If you don't want the nandroid taking up all the space on the SD, I can understand that. In that case, have one on your PC that can be easily moved to your phone's SD in case of an emergency.

I think you have erased system and data partition too if u have done this you must have to flash viper Rom again

Volume and power buttons stop functioning after kernel flash.

I flashed francor 58 through the franco updater on top of mahdi rom 6/70. When I got boot loops I reflashed r57 (had previously worked) and when it came up I no longer had working volume rocker and power buttons. If I hold down power the device DOES power off. I tried flashing other roms as well as stock and the problem persists.
I did an e2fsck on data and a factory reset with the google image and I still have the problem. The power button also fails to activate the screen in recovery. But it allows me to select and enter recovery from the bootloader.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you ever find what the problem was? I'm having the same issue.
Help, same here...
I flashed yesterday latest LaboDJ's Linaro (62v2) over an older version and this morning my power and volume buttons aren't responding at all.
I flashed back system.img and boot.img from latest ota.zip but the problem persists.
Buttons are working fine in bootloader...
Did you guys try other kernel? I never heard this problem before. Try to clean flash any rom and see if it solves.
No luck, even flashed the whole L factory image...
as soon as my screen goes off, my only solution to bring it back alive is to keep power pressed 15s and let it reboot. Proof that the button press is somewhat registered in hardware I guess

Holding down the power button for 10-15 seconds is hard-coded to be a battery pull emulation, not affected by ROM nor kernel.
Did you try running the flash-all.bat? (backup to a PC first)
Do sensors work well?
ok, I'm not 100% sure how but got my buttons back
What I last did before they start working again was to boot into bootloader then recovery which was still default (open Robot with red triangle).
I kept volume up while pressing power as I've read on some post (hard reset?) and the phone rebooted to android with both volume and control buttons working.
Did I reset something extra or is it pure coincidence? Guess time will tell

trouble booting with cyanogenmod

rooted and installed cyanogenmod. but sometimes when i boot up, the screen comes on with nothing on it, or the wording of the cyanogenmod half loads before it just hangs. have to hard reset it by holding down the power button, and after about 5 attempts of so, it loads up normally and then works perfect until of course i have to start or start the tablet again. tried with omnirom as well. same probelm. but when i flash back to stock samsung, i go into a bootloop of the samsung logo (which i solve by just going into stock recovery and factory resetting) and then every thing is back to normal. every bootup after too works smoothly, its only when i install a different rom does the bootup problem start and remains (even when i factory reset). any help would be much appreciated. thanks

Lenovo A916 Boot Loop

Hey there,
I have a Lenovo A916 which was pretty reliable. However, it is currently stuck in a boot loop. It wasn't the average type of bricking where one was trying to flash a new rom or where one was trying to root the phone. It was one where a vital app was deleted (I believe the OS UI, I may be wrong) and thus it won't restart properly. I have searched several forums and researched several processes but I wanted more advice before I tried to unbrick the phone myself.
Unfortunately, the drawbacks are that there isn't much information out there about the particular type of phone, and it makes it hard to apply methods that are made for more popular models.
The phone is rooted but the boot loader is locked. Obviously I cannot go into USB debugging mode but the phone does have a memory card slot. I have both the original and a custom rom downloaded and the relevant drivers. I even have Lenovo's LeTools.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Have you tried factory reset? I have the same phone.
Turn it off, then hold the middle of the volume rocker firmly and keep holding it while you turn on the phone - you will see a green tilted android.
Press on/off button 1 time
use the volume rocker to move down to wipe data/factory reset and press the in the middle of the volume rocker. Then on the next screen move down to Yes and press the middle of the volume rocker.
Your phone will now factory reset - wait until its done.
it will restart by itself - if not, then move to reboot now and press the middle of the volume rocker.
Hopefully this will fix your issue - though now your facing another one - there might be spyware on your phone and you have to re-root it and depending on the method install either superuser or supersu(best), then remove the spyware with malwarebytes, avast, 360 security. Make a list of those that can't be cleaned.
Then disable the offending apps.
BE CAREFUL! I'm not responsible for what you do!
If you by accident choose the wrong thing, then hold the power button for 30 seconds and your phone will restart. Turn if off and try again.
Be advised that you will loose all your apps and files, you should remove your MicroSD card first.
Good luck
Factory reset won't work.
You said you just flashed a new rom right?
If you done factory reset, it wouldn't reset your phone COMPLETELY. It will just reset the settings and the data.
What you need to do is you need to find the stock rom of your device. Then reflash it into your device.

No, I didn't flash a new ROM. Actually, I was using the stock ROM when the UI got deleted. I do have the stock ROM however. What is the best way to flash the ROM to my device?
