Well I just switched to Android and I'm loving it! It's awesome. However I'm really having a problem with my battery. I got this phone on Sunday...and the battery life for me has been horrible for me.
I leave my phone on the charger all night. I have to leave for school, and I take my phone off the charger around 8:00am.
Throughout the school day, I'll check my phone a couple times. I probably send like 10-15 texts, and I take a few pictures at lunch. That's all I do, nothing else. By the end of the day (2:45) the battery is at 50%. I don't understand how a battery can be this bad, when it's in standby almost the whole day.
I have advanced task killer installed, and I have it set so all apps are killed when the screen is off, and it auto-kills apps. I turn off wi-fi at school since I don't get any, and my screen brightness is at auto. No live wallpaper either, just a normal still one. So I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I understand the battery isn't the biggest, but from what I hear everyone else is getting better battery life then me, and they're doing so much more than me.
Any help? Would be appreciate!
First things first, get rid of task killer. Also see what's syncing. Play with the settings a little. Battery is tiny for this phone. But with tweaking it does the job. Best bet is to get a second battery or an extended battery from the desire hd.
Why should I get rid of task killer? Everyone that I speak to that has android told me to get it. When I don't have it, I have all these apps running in the background like Asphalt 5, AT&T Navigator, Maps, and a bunch of crap that shouldn't even be running. I have pretty much everything syncing, does that kill the battery?
Taskiller was ok back in earlier versions of android. The apps aren't actually running they are stored in memory with no impact on CPU. Constant syncing is going to destroy your battery.
Davwman is absolutely correct about the task killer app. Do some googling on this and you will see that it creates more issues than helps.

Alright, thanks a lot! I fixed the syncing, and a message popped up saying that it will extend the battery life. I'm going to assume this is going to help a lot, since Facebook and my email was probably constantly updating during. I'll look into the task killer as well!
You should see an improvements in the following days as well as the battery is settling in.
If not, Id ask AT&T for a replacement of the unit for another one.
If you have any battery widgets I would remove those too. I had batstatt and it was destroying my battery!!!
The battery isn't too great... 1230mAH ... I did send an e-mail to HTC regarding replacement batteries and they said I quote..
Dear Sean,
There's absolutely a chance of extended batteries being made; plenty of our devices have them made for them. At this time I don't know for sure if we're going to have one, as that decision is made by a completely different department and the Inspire 4G has only been available for less than a week. If we are to have one available, you will be able to find it at shopamerica.htc.com. I hope that we have one available as I know how useful they can be.

You really need to turn off auto-brightness as well. That will suck up battery power. Just set your brightness to a reasonable level. I usually keep mine around 35-40%
also auto rotate and data always on could affect it
Look into a widget that will allow you to kill data when you don't need it. Switchpro is a paid app and will allow this but I'm sure there are free ones.
You will still be able to send and receive calls as well as sms.
This should help get more out of the battery life.
As previously stated you might also look into picking up a spare battery for when you need the juice.
Check amazon and ebay. Beware of anything coming from China.

This.
Everytime your screen adjusts, its using CPU. So turn it off, get rid of the task killer,- when you kill them, chances are most of them are starting back up and that's making it worse.
Flash/ or wait for a version with all of this horrendous bloat removed.
It will get better
I'm actually pretty happy with mine.
I'm at 15 hours off charge, exactly 20% battery left, 3 hours screen on time
turn off syncing. dont us gps or navigation programs. no live wallpaper. i use this phone like my old Tilt 2 and i get about the same amount of battery life out of it (1 day) and i charge it at night. now on my phone i have syncs running for email and facebook and what not i send and recieve about 30 - 50 txts a day. lots of email. photos for work, i DO have live wallpaper loaded so i think the battery is just fine. however yes i will want a bigger battery when this one dosnt accomplish a full day without a charge.. oh ya games will eat into your battery as well!
I downloaded a clock widget to put on my home screen, I guess to make it nicer, does that kill battery?
The battery on this phone is so bad right now, I have to worry about every single, minute thing to keep my battery alive!

I've never found a clock widget to effect battery much unless it had a weather widget that went along with it.
As far are your battery have you tried the factory reset, deleting your battery stats, and killing all unnecessary services?
Well I tried it on my first phone, and then exchanged it for bleeding issues. Didn't really see it work, but maybe I didn't give it time? And I don't use a taskkiller, I use Juicedefender. I heard most of the task killers are horrible for the battery, and I use Go Launcher's task manager for killing honestly but not a lot.
Honestly, I went to ebay and bought spare batteries just in case of an emergency. I literally wake up at 8:30 and get really low battery by 1:30, without doing much on the phone. Basically texting, but isn't texting so basic? Why would that kill the battery so easily.

Yeah Rich good point about the 2g/edge but what's the point of a smartphone if this battery is going to die so quickly, I miss my blackberry then without having to charge it at all during the day! Oh well, spare battery is where it's at, plus I might have to get a toggle widget. That'll do hopefully

Well there is def something wrong with either your phone or your battery because I use my phone quite a bit during the day and after 5 hours I'm never under 50% I hope you didnt buy a knock off battery because those are horrid.
Straight from China. Exact same battery almost, my co-worker uses them and they are legit.
Well then I had problems with my phone 3 times then, because this is my 3rd g2x with a battery life so horrible.
Hmmm. Just dont be surprised if you get some funky behavior while using those batteries. They're usually way lower mah than they state and can randomly shut off and such. Just keep an eye out.
LG G2x
Will cm7, or the new update help battery life?
Possibly. No one will know till cm7 matures and oat updates from lg come out.
via LG G2x
Be careful adding Beautiful Widgets on your G2x. I have found a very odd compatibility issue. Causes calls not to go through sporadically. Not sure it is ONLY this application but it definitely does not happen when I uninstall.

Poorly coded clock widgets are often cause for drained batteries, together with default 3minute refresh cycles on twitter clients, together with market killing your battery in 2 hours because you allowed autoupdate on a bad connection, causing it to retry, retry, retry.....
Instead of researching which clock widget didn't drain your battery, just accept not to use one.

OK so I been reading through xda for years now just never really posted. I bought the anker2x battery pack and charger from amazon. First let me say this, ics plus this battery and the stock ics kernel equals amazing battery life with heavy use. Once you understand everything in ics & untick some options in (developer options)needed to save battery you'll see your phones true battery life. I can't think of every option I unticked to get this battery life it wasn't that many. One thing I've noticed personally is Google apps (gapps) uses a sh!t ton of battery. So I just re-flashed build 2 without gapps as build 2 gives me the most battery life and is really stable with my settings. One thing I miss about gapps is the market everything else I can get around. I've went to the Google play market on browser then just added a bookmark to it to the homescreen. The thing is when I try to download a app that way instead of the actual app none of the apps get downloaded to my phone. It says they will be on my device shortly but they never get pushed to the phone. As of right now I can get apps from simply looking up .apks but I wish there was a fix one of you guys may know how. I know that the inverted Google apps (black) takes advantage of the oled screen and saves battery. Ive managed to get (1 day 2 hrs) of battery life with this battery and my settings dont forget to use the green battery calibration app to calibrate your battery read directions within app helps the anker2x get to its full potential. I didn't even undervolt it. Here's screenshots for proof I've spent a good year on a battery fix and I finally figured it out. If your intrestead in my settings I will post them I'm just happy my phone last a day and 2 hours with heavy use, i always use the browser!! & i bookmarked youtube to homescreen and use youtube that way as doing this still gives you the official youtube icon. The app i use for battery is (easy battery saver) and i use super mode with set DNS Hope ths helps any questions just ask!! Cheers good day.

Hello
My One S' battery is dying so much that i now have to charge it twice (!) a day to make it through.
Im therefore searching for a rom, that has the best battery saving features out there.
Can anyone recommend any such rom ?
Thanks !
~D
If the battery is old, change it. That will probably fix a lot of things.
CandyKat+Insanity. Best battery life for me so far.

I have been running CandyKat + Insanity for a few days now with stock brightness settings (which is actually really bright). Along with Greenify.
I still get good battery life. Probably around 3-4 hours screen on, and all day use. To my surprise, I do seem to get long run times with video - I tested 5 percent per half hour. So if it continues - 10 percent per hour. That's a long time - that means the phone can play movies for 9+ hours. I was using the Snap movie viewer.
You need e very slim rom.
Uninstal what you don't need. Stop apps you don't use.
In particular wifi & bluetooth (large consumers).
I've been using the TMO S6 for a couple weeks and my battery life is terrible.
I have used greenery to hibernate everything I can, but as you can see in the attached picture the Android system is running overtime. I am lucky if I get 4 hrs of battery time. I also have the screen brightness set to less than 50%.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I have no idea why google thought it was a good idea to make battery stats less accessible in kitkat and above, so it's hard to find what causes it. It's probably easiest to factory reset and start clean and then start adding a few apps at a time, to see if you have one misbehaving one
Thanks. I am able to see the apps and utilization using gsam battery app, but unable to look at which android system apps are draining/running, as per the picture.
Turn off WiFi calling and voLte

The problem is that when app X hold a wakelock it doesn't show up under app X but under Android System!
I agree, battery life in general is a huge step back from the S5.

Factory reset then do these two. Also, disable T-Mobile bloat then use Greenify or Shut App.
I can get about a day and a half or two days battery with very minimal use. Don't expect to get more than 4 hours screen on time with this phone. Average is probably around 3.5-4.5 hours but you SHOULD get at least a full day's use with it.
Wifi calling pretty important for some of us
