[Q] App to disable NFC actions after unlock - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I use a NFC chip to unlock my phone, but I would like to put contact information on the chip as well. The problem is when I put that data on my phone there is no way to unlock the device and just go the home screen, the device always launches the action (or in this case contacts) Is there someway I can disable NFC actions but still use NFC to unlock my phone? Currently on 5.0 with smart lock but I may be going back to 4.4.4 with xposed very soon.

[Q] Unlock Screen With Lock Pattern Using NFC Tag

Hello
I have a samsung s3 ( i9305) and i have bought a few nfc tags and what i want to write on most of them is the function to unlock/lock the screen that also has a security pattern.
I used nfc task launcher to write them and everything went ok but sometimes the phone won't unlock. For example, i have one next to my door at home that when i "scan" the nfc it will unlock the phone and remove that protection and also turn on wifi. The problem is that sometimes it will only turn on wifi and it doesn't unlock but other times it does unlock but after a while it just returns to the lock pattern.
Anyone know how to make the phone really unlock when i scan the nfc tag? Im using the right app(nfc task launcher) or should i use something else also?
Thanks!

Is Smart Lock (Lollipop) working for you consistently?

Upgraded my N5 to its Lollipop Factory Image, and setup Smart Lock to work with my Moto 360. I'm noticing that my N5 will still prompt me for a passcode half the time, even though my moto 360 shows it's still connected (I can even PROVE it's connected, by doing an "Ok Google" voice search). I even set up face unlock to give it another unlock method, and that didn't seem to increase the success rate for Smart Unlock. It seems that no matter what, smart unlock doesn't work for me a lot of the time. To be more specific, it seems like it doesn't work if I haven't used the phone in awhile. Once I put my passcode in, smart lock seems to work just fine for awhile, but eventually it will stop working again, forcing me to enter my passcode to jumpstart it again.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Yes, this seems to be what I'm experiencing as well.
Same here... really want this to work. I assumed it might be because I dirty flashed, are you running a clean install?
same here...
Same here with a nexus 9. Tried connecting it to a moto and to my nexus 5. The units ARE connected to the nexus9 but in smartlock they have status "not connected". After setting up it works until the units are out of reach for the first time....after that it is back to pincode

got no problem at all since N5 is paired with my LG G watch.
Got problems making NFC tag work. I have a NFC sticker at home, i use it with this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jwsoft.nfcactionlauncher&hl=en making toggle wifi when i enter home (wifi on) and when i walk out (wifi off). I tried to use the same tag for smart unlock, but it simply doesn't works. Tag writing seems to be ok but still have to enter the pin when i pass my phone over it. Should i use another tag?
Mine works but RARELY

Well, I figured out my issue anyway. It seems it's Gravity Screen. I use it to turn off my screen when I put the phone in my pocket (and turn it back on when I take it out). Because of this, I rarely touch the power button anymore. Apparently, when Gravity Screen locks the device, it REALLY locks it, making it so that Smart Lock can't unlock it, and forcing you to enter a passcode. I've left a note in the dev's thread, asking for a fix, but for now, I had to disable that feature.
Now, Smart Lock is working almost all of the time. I still have the occasional need to enter a passcode (like after rebooting), but for the most part, this fixed my issue.
I guess the tl;dr of all this is to make sure you don't have any apps running that lock or power-off your screen. They may be interfering.

I don't use Gravity Screen, but have it installed. Could that cause the problem? I'm currently on 5.1 Cataclysm on my Nexus 5.
I have added Moto 360 as a trusted device. The moment I add it i'm able to unlock without PIN. However, after a few minutes, although the watch is connected, smart lock doesn't seem to work. I had this issue on stock Android 5.0 (no root or bootloader unlock) also with a Sony bluetooth headphones!
My smart lock "trusted places" is not working. I am assuming it is associated with the recent update to the Google Play Services for the "on body detection."
My Google Play Services has been sucking up my battery usage when location services is on. Other users have been experiencing the same issues. Some fixes suggest turning the smart features off then back and another is reinstalling the Google play services (revert then update again.)
I side loaded my Google Play Services but it didn't fix the problem. I am still looking for a fix so trusted places will work.

Having absolutely the same problem. The "on body detection" feature works perfectly, howeve, the "trusted places" - almost never. I find myself entering my PIN at home every time I want to unlock the device, except for the times I slide it out of my pocket. If Google fixes these problems, Smart Lock would be my favourite feature!
I've pretty much given up on Smart Location Unlock. It's been broken for weeks now. I'm on CM12 and made profiles to disable pin/password/pattern when connected to my home Wi-Fi.

Screen Off and Lock + Trusted Device?

I've been using Screen Off and Lock forever to lock my phone using the swipe-up-from-home-nav-button (instead of the default Google Now).
After updating to Lolipop, I started using my Moto 360 as a trusted device and enabled a PIN lock on my phone. When I lock the phone with the power button and my Moto 360 connected, no PIN screen appears when I turn the screen back on.
However, if I lock the phone using the app Screen Off and Lock, the PIN screen always comes on when I go to turn the screen back on. This defeats the whole purpose/convenience of the trusted device bypassing the PIN. Anyone know how to fix this? Or know of an app that will work better?
It hasn't been updated since January so I imagine its just an incompatibility

I'm on stock rooted Lollipop and I'm running into a similar issue, but with face unlock instead of trusted device.
I have double-tap on Nova Launcher set to system lock using Tasker, and when I lock my phone using that, face unlock doesn't activate, and won't until I put in my PIN password and then re-lock using the power button.

I also tried locking my phone using Greenify instead of Screen Off & Lock, sam result. Perhaps there is a way to implement locking the phone that won't trigger the PIN to unlock? Or - and I hope this isn't the case - maybe there is no way to do this in 5.0?

I tried messing around with screen timeout in Tasker, but it doesn't let me set it to 0 seconds (for obvious reasons, I guess haha), since I noticed that letting my screen time out seems to work just fine for triggering face unlock. The lowest I can set it to is 7 seconds though, if I remember right, which is a bit too high for a screen off function.

Not sure this will be "fixed". All apps that are stating to lock the phone will actually do so, whether trusted devices are enabled or not. They act the same way as if you are on the lockscreen with the lock disabled by a trusted device and then press the lock symbol at the bottom, this also locks the device. This has been a problem forever, apps just work differently than the hardware power button.
As a fix you can try the following: Use another app to completely disable the lockscreen or keyguard (whatever your prefer) when a trusted device is connected instead of using the android built in feature.
If you are like me and want to use the new trusted devices feature of lollipop you can use Tasker as a workaround. Create a tasker task with the command "run shell --> input keyevent 26". This also requires root. Then you can use the app Home Button Launcher to set a shortcut to run the new task when swiping up. This is what I'm using and it works without any problem! I hope I could help.

I attached a pic of trying to do what you said in Tasker. When I run the task, nothing happens.

Have you installed the latest superSU beta? The previous versions had problems with the new security features introduced by lollipop. If you're not using this latest version my solution won't work.

It worked! SuperSU beta did the trick.
Also, I didn't need a separate app to make a Home key shortcut, I just made a profile: Event -> UI -> Assistance Request -> add the Task with input keyevent 26.
Thanks!
Nothing against Screen Off and Lock as it's just doing what it's designed to do (and Lock after all) but this is a useful work around, thanks.

Oh yeah I forgot about that. First I tried it that way, but for some reason it didn't work, so thats why I use an external app But I'm glad it works for you!

Thanks you guys. Now I feel more at home with Lollipop with my old habit. I couldn't stand that smart lock was disabled when I used other screen off apps (then again those haven't gotten an update for a while too).

There probably won't be. The app is called "... And Lock". Technically, it's doing what its supposed to.

Was searching for a solution and i found this thread! Thanks a lot!
So no hope for people like me who don't use trusted devices/places but use trusted face? Because I think even tasker can't do that with trusted face unlock.
Also looking for a solution to this with trusted faces on lollipop.

Google Smart Lock

Hi guys. I don't see any Smart Lock options under settings and security. Is there any way to setup Smart Lock with this phone? I do see Smart Lock appear in the notifications when I add a Bluetooth device, but I see no way to go into the Smart Lock options after that. Has anyone been able to get it to work with this phone?
I have the same question. I cant find that setting either. I'll send Blu a tweet (@irishman2020)
They replied and said they don't support it on the PureXL
What the hell, NO Smart Lock on a phone with all these high end features and hardware? I guess Blu never expected anyone with a $349 phone would want to use it with Android Wear or any other Smart Lock feature! How STUPID!!! It must have been an ID10T error.

Have you gotten to the Trusted Devices screen when you tapped the notification? I was able to set my device up from there onwards after pairing (but right now it does nothing and is kind of useless).
I've managed to connect my Pure XL to my laptop with a Startech.com 50m Class 1 USB to BT4.0 adapter (USBBT1EDR4) and was able to setup Smart Lock to unlock my device. It did nothing, but probably because I didn't walk outside of its signal range. Meanwhile, I didn't get a notification to setup Smart Lock when I paired up with my desktop (I'm on a P8P67 PRO mobo with some sort of Atheros BT device built in).
Unfortunately, there's no other way, as far as I see it, to get to the Trusted Devices screen unless you pair with an appropriate BT device for the first time and you tap the notification to setup Smart Lock.

Toggles Don't Work From Lock Screen

Some of the toggles Don't work from the lock screen. For example, the flashlight toggle does work but the WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC toggles only work if I unlock the phone. It's pointless to have those toggles appear in the pull down shade if they don't work.
Is this how all Galaxy models work? This is my first Samsung Android phone so pardon the question is this is obvious to others.

This is a Good Thing. It's a LOCK screen. Anything that changes the device SHOULD be locked out until you get past the lock screen (and whatever security you have in place.)

I asked because this is the first Android device I've had that behaves this way. My Nexus and Sony devices allow toggling those functions from the lock screen. While I appreciate your opinion I'm interested to know if this is a Samsung feature and if there's a way to change it.

This is also the first I've had that does this - including a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (still on lollipop.) It always annoyed me that I had my screen locked with a fingerprint, but anyone could toggle wifi, bluetooth, NFC, and all kinds of other things that impact functionality when my device is supposed to be locked.
This might be something in android 6, or it might be something Samsung is doing for android 6. (I don't have another device with MM, so I can't answer that.)
Edit: one interesting thing is that you CAN turn off wifi, etc from the lock screen pull down IF you don't have a secure lock screen (or if the lock screen is bypassed via smart lock.)

Maybe that's it, I use the fingerprint lock. I am able to work around it by using PowerToggles but it seems redundant to add toggles to a lock screen that already has toggles. Oh well, at least I can do it.
For my work I am constantly turning flight mode on and off, prior to OS update last night, I could toggle flight mode while screen locked. Now when I toggle it on or off, it asks for my finger print/ code, which is very annoying, as I don't want to unlock phone, and I have to re-lock it, even more annoying. Why the change? And how do I get it back to toggle it while locked?
Sorry to reopen this but there is any solution to this?On my wife´s s6 edge plus with latest android 7.0 can on/off toggles without asking about fingerprint/code...

If you are rooted, you can edit the toggles with something like GravityBox (be warned though, Samsung devices don't like when certain SystemUI items are removed or blocked). For some reason, you HAVE to have a minimum number of toggles on 6.0 Samsung phones. You can't remove all of them, but you can change the order in which they appear. I can confirm I can toggle WiFi and etc from my lock screen as well. Though I don't really have an issue with it as I rarely keep anything worth something to me or anyone else on my devices. I don't even have bank accounts or credit cards linked to any device so this really doesn't bother me. I figure if you can lock and or erase your device remotely, if it goes missing, that's good enough for me.
the setting you are looking for is on my S8 in Settings / secure lock settings / lock Network ans security
this allows you to either enable or disable flight mode on the lockscreen
I forgot my password
To recover my password, I have a Samsung account and a Google Account, but I can not connect to Wi-Fi or Data.
Every time I try to turn on Wi-Fi or data, Samsung asks for my password.
How can I turn on Wi-Fi or my data?
