Media problem in lollipop - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have flashed LRX21O build on my nexus 5. The problem is the media present in the phone memory is not getting recognized.
First I have flashed the stock image and then did the setup and all
Next I copied 10 songs from my PC using USB cable. Those 10 songs are recognized the google play music app.
Next I download one song using chrome browser in nexus 5. That downloaded song is not playmusic app. But I can browse to that song using ES file explorer and choose play music app to play that song. Then I the app is able to play the song ( using es file explorer and choose the play music app to play the media we get a small floating type window and play music plays the song) the file is of mp3 format. The problem is not with the song. Its with the media scanner not able to detect songs. Anyone else are facing this problem?. Any solution for this. Please help

DoubleTwist

I installed the DoubleTwist app but it will not see any of the songs on my SD card. When I click on Albums or Songs I get prompted to use the DoubleTwist app on my PC to sync my music but I already have over 4 Gig of music on my SD card. Is there a way to make DoubleTwist see the SD card? I looked through the settings but could not find any way to do it. Interestingly enough I can browse to the songs through ES File Explorer and select a song and the DoubleTwist player is an option and will play the song. Is there a way to get the app to see my songs? All the songs are MP3 format. Thanks...
A new version of Google Music came out yesterday, I upgraded my app to the new version and that fixed the problem. The new version does not have the pause problem when the screen goes out.

[Q] Miui rom music player issues

During Dec I tried MiUi rom and loved it but I was having one major area of troubles, getting music to play.
Most music players could not see any of my music. They could not read the ID3 tags. I could open a file browers (root explorer), select a music file and would then be asked which music player to use to play the track. All players would play the file but as soon as I closed the file explorer the music would stop. Multi tasking was not an option.
I usually use Poweramp for my music player. Poweramp has the option to browse files via folder/filename, so I could browse my music in the amp. The issue with Poweramp was that it would play a track, but then randomly stop, which is a PITA when your riding your bike or don't have quick access to your phone
I posted the above issues in the MiUi rom thread but did not get any response. I'm not sure if this is user error or that the rom has issues with music files. I think it's the former as I could not find any other discussion re music issues.

Can't locate Google music local files

Is anyone able to find it? I'm using root explorer and when I go into sdcard android .com.Google.music files its not in there. As a matter of fact, both files and cache show up ad empty. I want to use n7 player to play the Google music I have marked as offline. Thanks.

Google Music off-line cached music files can only be played by Google Play Music. It's done to protect the music from being copied. I don't have root currently so I can't tell you the exact location, but I know I found them on my last phone but their names are obfuscated and they will not play with any other MP3 player.
The only way to do this for tracks you have bought (but not All Access tracks) is to download them to a computer first and then copy them over to your phone.

That is a good point. I was finally able to find it on the Nexus 5 after looking at every possible folder. It's in data/user/0/com.google.android.music/files/music I can't get any other music play to play when it's in that folder. However, if I copy it over to the typical sdcard/music folder, N7 plays it right away, albeit without the mp3 tags or artworks. But since all my music is in Google Play, and I have a process on my computer to autosync my new songs to google play, I'm just going to stick with the Play Music. I actually really like Play Music, but was just exploring other music players. There's really no point to when we have such a good system with Play music.

Mate 7 Missing Music Files

Hi,
Every time I copy music files (.mp3, etc) from my computer to the internal storage of the Huawei Mate 7, the Music player can't find any of the music files. I tried transferring to the device's Music folder and Audio folder to no avail -- the Music Player still can't find them. Manually tracking it in the file folder reveals all music files are stored though. But the Music player app keeps on saying "0 music files".
Am I just missing something or do I need to sync it first? Or do I need to use the Huawei Desktop Suite software so the music player recognizes all relevant files?
Thanks

Have you try with another player like PowerAmp or Neutron ? Normally in preferences you can specify in which folder your music is stored.

Thank you sir, I downloaded PowerAmp & Neutron and both were able to automatically track the music files. I wonder why the native music player (or even Google Play Music) doesn't do that automatically.

Nubia X - can't listen to music

Hi,
My Nubia X arrived 2 days ago, i didn't check that there was no google play store beforehand so pretty gutted that i can't use my normal apps to listen to music (paid for poweramp) and now just the patient wait for international rom so i can get my apps. I use aptoide at the moment and chrome broswer works so good enough until the international rom.
I transferred 60gb of my music over last night. Attached the Nubia X to my laptop and placed in the music folder that showed up in the root when selecting transmit files.
I have my music in the format of Artist Folder> Album X, Y, Z > Tracks
Ive been "scanning" with the default nubia X music player app and all i get is no results found. Not sure how to select folders with this as there doesn't seem to be an option.
However when i go to the "my files" app all the music is shown there in the music folder, just not when you open the music player app.
I think the solution may be an alternative music player app but not sure why it wont scan the folders? Any guidance?.
Thanks
