hi guys need your help in rooting motorola razr M @Android 4.4.2
have tried running the "Motofail2Go" app but the CMD command always gets stuck at the first step itself .
have also tried unsuccessfully to unlock the bootloader from motorola website (unlocking not possible for your device prompt)
would appreciate if some one can guide me to the right direction .
Hi,
With a locked bootloader, This may be the only chance to Root...
> Motorola Droid RAZR M > Droid RAZR M General > towelroot for Razr M 4.4.2 - Success!
This root will undo any changes in a reboot tho.... So it's only really useful for certain root apps. You can ask more about it after reading a bit if you wish. Or ask about alternatives there too.
Good luck!
thanks

thanks for the info , i was able to root the razr m with your advice and direction , just one more question will i be able to now flash CWM and Custom ROMS . not sure rooting the phone through towelroot will allow for that (though i have gained Super user access to install apps )
No, you need an unlocked bootloader to flash a custom recovery. And to disable write protection to allow full root.

Hello. l am not exactly new to these forums but this is my first post. l have read here for a long time and due to the diligence of you all l have been able to root both my son's phone and my own. (my old phone). And l thank you all for that. l am not a developer or even a 'code head', ln fact l am a log home builder from Montana whom after reading here has learned the value of gaining 'root' on my phones, and how exactly to do it.
Again, thank you all for your tenacity.
Now, l have an XT-1080 that l would like to gain root on. l have been reading here for months and recently tried purchasing the 'unlock code' from the Chinese guy. (TAOBAO). l tried three times with the same results. He is, "out of stock". So after more searching l discovered that Motorola will give you the unlock code at the Motorola website. (l am not allowed to post a link). l have not tried their method, (Motorola), and was wondering why this method has never come up here on these forums? Or maybe it has but l just never caught it? ls there something the matter with going to Motorola directly for an unlock code? What am l missing? Why do we have to bother with Chinese guys? l know l must be missing something here. l know there must be a reason we are all not just going to Motorola for our codes. What's the reason?
Again, before l would ever try something like this on my own, l would have to ask the experts. YOU.
Your feedback here would be most appreciated. l am anxious to gain root on my XT-1080 and after trying the Chinese guy three times l just don't know where else to turn. (other than purchasing a DEV model).
Thanks again,
MTMadman...
Hi,
Motorola will give unlock codes for most their devices... It is actually a well known fact. But verizon, AT&T and Republic wireless don't allow their devices to be unlocked. That is why their are alternate ways, all costing money.
And how ever you do it, your warranty is void . Except the Dev editions.

Thanks KJ. Yes l do have other questions. First of all, how would Verizon know if l had my phone unlocked through Motorola or another source? What's the difference? (l will also take this question to the link you provided.).
Thanks again...

Greetings!
I'm having a hard time with the rooting of my device, been looking for days for all the required apps/data to make it happen but everytime I find something I end up stuck and I don't want to brick my phone since it's the first time I own a phone that runs android and only I use it.
So in my noobish quest to root my device I found out that I'll end up bricking my phone cause I don't know if I have the right software for doing this task.
So if anyone would be so kind to help me out via TeamViewer or providing me the tools and a step by step guide I would appreciate it.
Phone info:
Android 4.1.2
1GB RAM
8GB ROM
32GB MicroSD
Motorola RAZR i XT890
Carrier: Any company, but using Movistar Argentina at the moment. (Would love to keep on using it that's why I don't want to install a brazilian oem cause it would kill me)

Has anybody tried flashing a pre root xt926 image with mofo? I have recently flashed my turbo and was wondering if I could use this to fix my xt907 and xt926. I also just found my old xt907 in my old toolbox and replaced the broken screen. When I powered it up it was still on 183.46.10 Can I still use towel root for this?
Hi there,
Here is some discussion that mach to your request where you can ask:
