What if it bootloops?

Alright, I currently have a HTC Aria running CM9, I was going to purchase an HTC One X from AT&T. However, I have one question. If I root it, and the device begins to bootloop or hangs for any reason, how will I stop it? I wouldn't be able to remove the battery....

How would you go about that? Just power button and down volume button? Sorry, on my current phone the volume is broke, so I have to do it through CWM

also you can push power button for 10 seconds or more, with a bit of luck phone will turn off.
But after that you still need volume button ...
I understand now, I didn't realize that there was a kill switch and that after holding the power button down for 10 seconds, the device turns off.

[Q] Nexus 5 stuck at Google logo

Hey guys,
I just wanted tu install a new ROM with TWRP, but during the System formatting the phone suddenly rebooted and is now stuck in the google logo.
I have no chance to get back to the recovery or to fastboot mode. Help me please
Can you turn off the phone by holding the power button for about 10 seconds? Then you should be able to get into bootloader mode. Power+vol down

Thanks, it worked.
I didn't know, that I first had to hold the power button and then the other two. I just hold volDown and power the entire time.

Phone stuck at Verizon loading screen, can't fastboot

Hi guys,
So my buddy rooted my phone for me and had me on lollipop. Somehow I connected my phone to my friends samsung fast charger and my phone updated normally, and now my phone is stuck at the verizon loading screen on my phone. I can't open the fast boot with the hard commands, (Volume down and holding power button). The only thing I can do is do the soft reboot with the volume up and power button. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would be fine with doing a clean reset or even going back to stock I really just need my phone to be working.

When you do volume up and power you need to time it right to switch to holding vol down in order to enter boot loader. If you wait for the battery to die you can also boot into boot loader by holding vol down when you connect it to the charger and it gets enough of a charge to boot.

So whats the exact combination? You hold down power button and volume up and then switch to volume down when the screen goes black? Thanks for the help.

Yeah it does take a little practice. I've had a lot of practice at it now I seem to have that problem most often when trying to change boot animations, it will get stuck at the Verizon boot image and after about 5 minutes of waiting I end up doing this.

Samsung Galaxy a40 stuck on "powered by android" screen

Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy A40 and yesterday I tried to flash LineageOS (I already have experience flashing gsi's), but when i rebooted the system, it just stuck on the "Powered by Android" screen.
It's not even rebooting, it just stays on that screen until the battery dies. So I've tried to let the battery drain and then booting into download mode after charging it a bit by pressing Vol Up + Vol Down and then plugging it into pc, but for some reason it just won't boot into download mode. What can I do now without having to risk booting into that screen and having to wait another full day again?
Hi,
You probably have to flash the latest firmware for your device.
If the phone freeze on the powered by android screen you can press and hold volume down + power and the phone will force reboot.
To reach download mode you can try this :
Turn off the device
Press and hold Volume UP key + Power Key for a while
Release all key when Samsung logo appears then you will see Android System Recovery
Select Reboot to Bootloader
Use Power key to Confirm

I'd prefer not to boot it up now bc it's turned off, if i have to I'll try. But, is there a way to boot it into download mode when it's already turned off?

The easiest step is the keys but look like it doesnt work for you.
You should try to boot with different key combination get past the bootscreen, otherwise i suggest you to got to a repair center if you can't
