Hi folks, I hope I am in the correct forum ?
Well i am a experienced Moto X user (rooted, boot-loader un blocked, etc.) and never bought a Tablet, but a friend brought me a new Note 10.1 to Argentine and i gladly bought it. So here are some questions.
1. I have a Galaxy Note 10.1 only Wifi, not the 2014 edition?
2. Second my OS is 4.12, is there any official KitKat 4.4.2 available? At least i do not get a OS update when i check.
3. If "no" to Nr. 2 any recommended Roms?
4. Rooting makes sense on a Tablet?
One more.
When trying to launch Google+ i get the message that the software of my device is not actualized. Google+ closes and send me to the configuration to check OTA, but there is no.
Thanks and be patient as i am new to Samsung and tablets.

1. Yes
2. Kitkat is available in a some of countries, you will get update soon. But I recommend you to install official rom via odin, not from kies or system update
4. Yes, if you want to customise UI or delete ads. I think you know what root is it.
Sorry for my English

If it's a GT-N8013, it's not a 2014 but a 2012 edition.

I don't know about each device/country but generally yes there is an official update available. If your tablet doesn't update automatically, the KitKat stock Roms are even linked somewhere in the Note 10.1 forum. sammobile.com also has them. You will probably need to use Odin to flash.

Sure. No difference to a phone. It's more about Samsung Note devices. Rooting makes about as much sense as anywhere else but custom roms only make limited sense since most roms can't include the s-pen stuff. BTW google KNOX if you like your warranty.

I don't know about 8013, but for 8000 is publishing now on over the world. I hope 8013 will have an update soon.
You can delete G+ and download it again. Maybe error will disappear. Stock apps is so stupid.
Thanks,
yes I saw the updates for N8000 all over the place. I hope also that N8013 will get those soon. I saw that some people flashed successful the 8000 UK update on an 8013. Maybe an alternative if 8013 won't get an update to 4.4.x. Any info regarding that?
Ok,so some more questions.
1. What is the recommended way to root the device with 4.1.2?
2. For flashing Roms Odin Pro for Android? I like flashing Roms from inside the device instead via PC, so I would buy Odin Pro.
3. TWRP Recovery is working fine with the device? I would love to use it as I also have it on my Moto X.
Ok, that's all for now, and thanks for helping.

Clarification on what you have and options
To clearify what you have.
you have the us version of the 2012 wifi tablet same as n8010. The 8010 roms with Boot-loader removed will Run on your device. Your play store issue can prob be solved by going into settings and location. fix to your location But i am unsure exactly. or do a Factory reset by going to
settings backup and restore. i think is where its at.
This Device Same as i have has been left behind by Samsung. it has not been upgraded above the version you have. Samsung WILL NOT UPGRADE IT OR they would have by now.
Two best options in my Opinion.
To upgrade and Stay totally stock You can use his Rom. Or Download the Rom for n8010 for your country from Sammobile and follow instructions on the like below to remove boot-loader.

Its a samsung touchwiz rom. So you only loose the Apps he removed from the rom. But you can put them back in the link on second post on his thread. I Been using the rom for over a month. I get a bit less battery life But still does Great for a tablet i have been using everyday for two years.
I MUST HAVE Fully working s-pen snote and i use Office suite 8. I use my tablet for onside Estimates and Billing. as well as Contracts . Get the Customers hooked before they have a chance to think twice.. Hehe . but seriously It works good for me.
Ok,
so as i have a long weekend here in Argentine , Monday is holiday - lucky me - I will root my device, flash a Recovery and flash Gnabo
Last question for now..jajaja
What is the suggested root method and Custom recovery for the device (stock 4.1.2) , to flash the Rom later?

How to Install/Flash Google Apps on Galaxy Note 3 N9002:
http://marrkdaviid.com/2013/10/install-google-play-on-the-samsung-galaxy-note-3-n9002/#.UsRALJYYYuo
** Please note that if you are using windows 7 to root the device using cf autoroot as instructed in the link above, you will encounter an error halfway thru the flashing process. You need to run odin 1.85 as windows xp to remedy this.
** Please note that after rooting and flashing google apps thru cwm, you will still have root access but the super su app may get lost. If that happens, please install super su from the google play store and everything will be back to normal. - thanks bigstuart for pointing that out
To fix the gapps error we see everytime we turn on the sync shortcut from the pulldown notification bar:
After setting up your google account, go to the settings menu and turn off the google bookmarks sync app. This will fix the google services has stopped error message.
To fix the google account dropping out (having to set up your google account again) turn off the google account manager app from the settings menu. Three users have confirmed this has fixed the issue.
BigStuart was able to finally find a way to fix our caller ID issue. Here's how to get it done:
Edit /system/csc/others.xml
change
Code:
<CscFeature_RIL_CallerIdMatchingDigit>11</CscFeature_RIL_CallerIdMatchingDigit>
to
Code:
<CscFeature_RIL_CallerIdMatchingDigit>-1</CscFeature_RIL_CallerIdMatchingDigit>
and add the following line:
Code:
<CscFeature_Contact_EnableDynCallerIdMatchingDigitWithAutoSim>TRUE</CscFeature_Contact_EnableDynCallerIdMatchingDigitWithAutoSim>
I added that line at the end of the file, before the closing </SamsungMobileFeature> tag.
Then reboot the phone and test caller ID
Lastly, enjoy your dual sim flagship device

1. once rooted and google play install do one need to root again if you hard reset your unit?
2. does rooting trip knox?
3. is there much chinese bloatware that you cannot delete?
4. problems encountered the unit being released only in china?
Am in philippines, note 3 dual sim. Without root when i tried install google play knox is tripped. I rooted and running google full service now. Excellent phone buy it

Good thinking on this Thread. The archived thread had some links to removing bloatware and dealing with issues like changing CSC. Wish they didn't delete it. Now we have to re-search and save them all over again.

1. once rooted and google play install do one need to root again if you hard reset your unit?
Shouldn't. I have rooted using RDLV and have reset w/o loosing root.
2. does rooting trip knox?
It did on mine. But there seems to be some who have done it without tripping Knox. Check the forum.
3. is there much chinese bloatware that you cannot delete?
Once you root you can remove almost everything. Search the forum for a list of prog you can safely delete.
4. problems encountered the unit being released only in china?
None really. You can add Google apps, ie Play, Mail, Hangouts, Calendar. If you change the CSC settings, you will be able to set your default search, calender, etc. But read up on how to do that first, you need to back up as it will cause a reboot and loss of data.

Who gives a crap about knox anyway? This is a phone from China, if you will import it to another country, it will not have local warranty. You are not gonna send it to China if ever you need it repaired right? So go ahead and root, flash google apps, and remove all those chinese crapwares.
Im driving right now, but if needed still, i will post a link for a guide on how to do the basics in turning the n9002 to something as close as possible to n9005.

What, the last one got archived!? It was a bit long but got me off to a start and the RIP made it even better. Anyway, I best not mention that.
Well I have checked back because today I just added my 2nd sim. That's 1 Unicom, and 1 China Mobile (some westerners do live in China). It's working and the beauty is: Unicom's data seems good, but China Mobile 's national and international call rates seem better.
I am still interested in getting the best out of my N9002. I am still having a few issues and it's hard to know if they are ROM based or other. Anyway, minor issues, this phone is the best I have owned.

Fellow dual sim note 3 users, now that samsung's 4.4 update is right around the corner, i am starting to look around how we can get the 4.4 update working on our phones.
Im thinking once samsung releases the 4.4 firmware, it will be on sammobile for sure. I will download and flash it on my phone. Naturally, i will lose root, and google apps. I will have to root and flash google apps again. Question is, where are we going to get the 4.4 gapps package? I found this site and it also contains the 4.3 gapps that was listed in mark daviid's method:

What do you guys think?

I will definitely upgrade to 4.4. I think the android runtime is really something to look forward to.

You can't flash this on any other variants as the Korean variant has Snapdragon 800 processor. You may end up bricking your device in the process of flashing incompatible firmwares.

I believe that's the case with most phones, unless they're flagship devices. I'm pretty much done with "romming", though. Changing system fonts was my other pull towards customization/rooting (I absolutely hate Roboto), but thanks to FlipFont and a certain PlayStore application, I can now use whichever font I fancy (without needing to root). I do hope there's a Kitkat update on the horizon, though.
Slowly killing me, seem we are not loved by samsung

N750S is the Note 3 Neo model with Snapdragon 800 processor sold only in Korea so ROM cannot be flashed on any other variant of the Note 3 Neo.

Yes it is worth purchasing. I haven't even tried rooting this tablet because of the lack of custom ROM development for this tablet but the stock ROM works great on this tablet, in my opinion. Haven't had any major issues with it at all. I upgraded to this from the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" WiFi only model and haven't regretted making this purchase at all.
You can go onto sammobile.com to find the stock ROM to download it to your computer and it is flushable via Odin.

Actually that is the wifi version. Sammobile typically lists the US wifi version as Cellular South. No idea why.

I'm assuming its likely ok to install the Canadian version which is T330NUUEU1ANK1, but I'd rather wait for the official US version.. rather than install another functional yet not US version.. This tablet now has an unoffical TWRP port which works well.. So I have a working Nandroid back up which is based on the original T330NUUEUAND4 Firmware....

I flashed many devices with odin and firmware downloaded from SamMobile.com and i never had any problems with it. The provided firmwares are not modified and seem to be 100% official versions.
No need to worry about sammobile as it is safe and clean.
It is all in one resource for Samsung stock roms. I used so many roms for different models from there and never faced any issues.
Can you please describe which link you got additional ??

Nothing important really but there was a link to my carrier's mobile site and SamMobile listed the ROM with the name of my carrier. So I thought it had been modified. But maybe it's just because it's the same version as the one my carrier offers but doesn't come FROM my carrier?

Hello
I was wondering if the Roms available on SamMobile were really safe and clean? Given they're not working FOR Samsung, where do they get those?
I'm wondering because I noticed there was a link that came with my phone originally that wasn't there when I restored a ROM I took from SamMobile.
Thank you!

No it's not official, I read somewhere they were named Samsung Firmware before they had to change to Sam Firmware at Samsung's request (before they were named SamMobile). I can't find where I read this though.

You're probably right, but one thing you can be sure that sammobile is a safe site....
Alright thanks everyone!
Not official, but safe. They make their money by subscription services for "premium" download privileges. Maybe ads too, but I use adblock, so I wouldn't see them.
Yes me too. But I do wonder where they get all those ROM since Samsung doesn't give the out.

Sammobile updates Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005 LTE
Hello,
Next newbie here
Could somebody senior please help me? I am wondering about official updates from Samsung for ROMs downloaded from sammobile, are they possible?
I've just installed Kitkat 4.4.2 on my beloved Note 3 after few days of using Darkera's Note 7 ROM when I'm tapping on "Update" in "Software Update" menu I get "Processing failed" message. Overall phone's responsiveness isn't that great, that's why I wanted to see if update is available.
Will appreciate any answers

You can't do stock updates on rooted devices with custom ROMs and custom recovery.
You have to remove root, you also need to have an UNMODIFIED system partition and you need stock recovery.
If you're using a custom ROM(your note 7 ROM is a ported stock custom ROM) then that means you are rooted and probably have custom recovery which means you need to remove root and undo any system modifications that were done in the custom ROM(including any special themes and Xposed) then flash stock recovery instead of custom recovery.
Then you might be able to do the updates but the system will be looking for your device to have straight stock with no modification, if there is any modification left behind then the update won't work.

Hi!
Thank you for your message.
Here is the list of things I did to my poor note 3 :
- rooted
- installed Darkera's note 7 rom, custom recovery and kernel downloaded also from Darkera
- unrooted with supersu
- using Odin3 I installed kitkat 4.4.2 which I downloaded from sammobile (I was told this process gonna whipe away everything - custom rom, custom recovery and kernel)
- downloaded supersu to make sure root is gone
Because of sammobile's server maintenance happening this weekend I used kitkat file I downloaded from sammobile quite some time ago (N9005XXUEND3_N9005XEOEND2_XEO for Poland) and during flashing everything went ok. But now when I go to 'settings' and 'about device' imei, modem version, baseband version are unknown and when I try to hit 'update' I get "processing failed' message. Oh, and I'm also experiencing random reboots. I'm not sure if all this is a normal thing or perhaps I did something wrong.
I hope I didn't bore you to sleep
Just curious, I have an N8013 2012 edition, can that be upgraded to 4.4 without rooting, I I don't want to have to setup the whole tablet again, but would like to have 4.4 on it because a few 3rd party apps I use require minimum 4.2
If possible can someone guide me, cheers
Wow i guess not possible, 90 plus views and no replies, I guess I have no choice but to root.
Just flash a 4.4.2 ROM from GT-N8010 with Odin. 8010 and 8013 have the same hardware, wifi only...
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-N8010/
Should be possible...

Which country firmware, or does that matter, and would I have to complete reset the device up ?? TIA
Country doesn't matter, you have a No-SIMcard device...and yes, complete reset

If you use the 8010 kitkat version you will have issues with the mobile addons unless you root and remove them. Kitkat will NOT be released for the n8013. Samsung has no intentions of upgrading the wifi only US tablet EVER.
They released 1 update for the tablet and that's it. No security updates or bug fixes. And that is due to Apple suing them. The N8013 is one of the tablets Apple seems to think Samsung copied even though it has a pen.
You might as well root your tablet. The bloat on the stock rom is horrid.
please help me root
