[Q] Convert D6653 to D6603 fot LTE bands - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I have the D6653 model, but I need the LTE bands of the D6603.
If I flash the D6603 rom, can I get the bands LTE 700/800/850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100/2600 (1/2/3/4/5/7/8/13/17/20)?
Thanks!

I've read on this in the past when I used to own the D6653. The answer is no because it is hardware related, not software. Something about the physical antennas they put in here. This was a reason for selling my D6653 with a big loss back then.

[Q] Question about Xperia Z3 models and service

I was curious to find out what is the difference is between the Z3 models?
I was about to purchase this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/221566146447...:MEBIDX:IT
But after further research i saw that different models we having an issue using 4g LTE service.
Basically is there any issue running the D5803? I have AT&T and I didn't want to risk dropping $500 on a cellphone that would be restricted by my carrier to 2G.
Any help would be much appreciated!

I would opt for the D6603 first if you can find it and swing the $ or the dual SIM D6633. D6603 has more support for LTE bands ATT and Tmo but the D6633 will also work. I have the D6633 on US Tmobile and LTE and HSPA+ service is excellent.
Thanks for the info, but what is the real difference between the D6633 and the D5803? What would i need an additional sim slot for?
I guess a better question is what are the disadvantages of the D5803?
Thanks
Looks like I figured it out the D5803 is the 4.6" display. I did not know that. Its a good thing i probed a bit deeper. Id much rather have the 5.2"
Is there any particular model of the 5.2" i should be on the look out for?

Which Z3 model to get for ATT for LTE connectivity

Was trying to track down which model of the Z3 I should buy in order to get LTE access on ATT. I have seen some people say to get the 6603 but I was reading a thread that it wasn't working on ATT. Anyone using this phone on ATT and know exactly which model to get in order to use LTE?
The D6603 and D6633 (Dual) both support all of the needed bands for AT&T support. I use a D6633 and have no issues whatsoever on AT&T.
I also use D6633 and get LTE on ATT
D6603 and D6633 will support AT&T LTE. Whatever you do, do not give AT&T your updated IMEI or their system will register it as "unknown" device and you will get 3G only.
I'm using the D6603 on AT&T with no problems (getting LTE just fine).

[Q] Adding LTE band 12 support to D6603?

I just got a D6603. I'm on T-Mobile and I wanted the phone to be rootable so I got the unlocked version instead of the branded D6616. However, the D6603 doesn't have LTE band 12 support, which means my signal at my desk at work is weak and frequently goes out altogether.
I found this guide on unlocking all LTE bands for a phone with a qualcomm processor. I was wondering if this is actually possible for the D6603 (i.e. band 12 is just blocked by the firmware) or if the D6603 lacks a certain radio necessary for communicating with band 12 towers. Has anyone tried this, or any other similar hack, for enabling a certain band or frequency on a phone that doesn't normally support it?

Check this to see which baseband exactly is you want to unlock and if your device supports that baseband. If the radio is missing, it would be impossible to unlock it. However if it is just the software, maybe following the guide help.
See attachment for your reference.
Or just wait for lollipop update. Just came across it

I am fairly certain it physically does not have the other bands, T-Mobile as far as I know does not disable other bands especially since they have global roaming plans.

I am trying to do this
The bands on the phone should not be locked. Please look up the LTE bands on the phone and see if your carrier supports them:

I am pretty sure it's an exercise in futility as T-Mobile does not block bands, the phone either physically has them or doesn't.
Better return/sell it and get the international version.
