Hello
Yesterday I bought the MI4 from xiaomishop.com and trying to update the phone with MIUI 6 version. While I am trying to connect the Phone to the Laptop (windows 8.1 (64bit)) using the USB, I am receiving the message as "USB device not recognized"
Can someone please help me in resolving the issue?

You should be able to upgrade it without computer.

If you have kies then just install kies on pc then connect your phone;dont need to install driver manually.
Sent from my GT-I5800 using xda premium
I had the same problem long ago
You need to remove all the Samsung drivers and kies if present in your PC and install Samsung USB drivers (find them from xda or Google or install kies)
Connect your phone in download mode and let the system detect your phone

this problem was caused by the last update!

This is a NEW problem that is affecting many thousands of people and it happened after the last update.
I have a GT 19300 v4.1.2 and all was well until I installed the update.
Now when I connect the phone to my PC (W7) the system sees it and tries to install drivers but then gives a message saying the it failed to install them.
Device manager now shows my phone as an unknown device and it didn't before.
I have tried lots of fixes and there are now dozens and dozens of them on different forums and none of them work.
This is not a cable problem and not a Kies problem. Lots of people including me have installed and uninstalled it.
I have the Samsung GS3 Int ToolKit an it installed the latest drivers today 1.5.15.0 and they didn't help.
Many people have tried a reset and all it did was waste their time so don't bother.
It looks like only Samsung or Google can fix the problem but I'd love to here of another fix.
More information

Today I disconnected the internet and plugged the phone into a different USB socket before booting the PC
The message I got this time was,
Samsung_Android X Device unplugged
Unidentified Device X No driver found
The above makes no sense to me but if it does to you then please let me know.
Thanks,
Michael
Some strange stuff going on

I got a message on my cellphone "the software does not exist on your phone to allow it to connect with your phone. You need .. XP with Windows media player ..." I don't remember the exact words". I'm using W7
Then when I unplugged my phone W7 said drivers are being installed and then said successfully installed. I plugged the phone in and it was recognized.
I opened Samsung GS3 Int ToolKit but it didn't show a serial at the top. I attempted to do a back up of all programs but gave up after a message, "waiting for ADB mode" appeared on the screen for over an hour. My phone isn't rooted; is that why?
The phone is no longer being recognize

Greetings,
I have a Nexus S (i9023) and i have been trying to install a new ROM (4.2.2). Seems that my CWM is outdated so i get a Status 7 (as a friend in a previous topic said). My problem is that i cannot connect to my PC (Windows 8.1) for some time now. It didn't really bothered me but now i have only a 4.2.2 rom in my sd (unflashable) and i can't connect it to my pc so that i can install another rom. I have tried any possible solution. My device appears as "unknown (invalid device description)" in device manager. I tryied installing drivers from google, from Samsung, universal drivers, universal naked drivers but everything gives me the same result. "The best drivers for this device is already been installed". I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any idea of what is happening?
Ps1: can I enable wi-fi or bluetooth through CWM?
Ps2: I have also tried to connect it to WinXP with the same results..!

Try mount as USB in mount and storage through CWM...
I think the drivers are not yet compatible to Windows 8.1 as most drivers are not yet since Windows 8.1 is still new. xD

Tried that also. Does nothing. When i mount my sd-card it pops a window saying that device is not recognised (same as with the other solutions). :/ :/ :/

Hello everyone,
I have a Samsung tablet (GT-P3100) running Android 4.4.2 kitkat (3.0.101-mokee-Espresso 10++)-NIGHTLY.The tablet doesn't connect to my laptop..
It gives a "USB not recognised error". I reinstalled Samsung kies twice, downloaded the drivers from other sources and installed but in vain.
The cable i am using is a usb+charging cable that came with the tablet. I would like to mention that the problem came a month after i installed the Mokee rom(in the mean time everything was working fine).
Using the same cable, however, i am able to charge the tablet.
The tablet shows no other error.
The laptop is Dell Latitude E6320 (original windows 7 professional).
Any help and an early response would be highly appreciated.
Thanks!
(Till then i m using connectify hotspot to share fling files which is slow and it also takes time setting up).

If it failed after replacing the cable and you are sure the drivers are working then it's possible that the port is broken and there is nothing you can do about it unless you bring it into a repair shop. At most you can share files through internet, Bluetooth or SDcard if this happens.

Hey. Thanks for the reply! I will give my tab for repair shortly. I just have a couple more questions.
1. My Laptop is running Windows 11 and my PC is running 10. I don't have previous versions of Windows. Is Windows 11/10 responsible for this in any way? i.e. will the device be recognised in computers running older versions of Windows? (I have already tried the fixes mentioned in Windows forums for "USB Device not Recognized" but to no avail).
2. Is there any way to access Download Mode, root, install a custom recovery & ROM without using the USB cable ?

Windows is not at fault. I am using windows 10 myself and everything works as expected. If it was at fault then it didn't manage to find a suitable driver in which case you have to do it manually.
Also from what I know you are not able to flash a custom recovery through the SD card in download mode. I believe it has to be done through the cable. But if you already have a custom recovery installed you can install a custom ROM just fine with an SD card

About no. 2., you may try this method to first root, then install TWRP, and then install custom rom. But please read the instructions and NOTE carefully.
