[Recovery] [D850] [2014-12-14] TWRP 2.8.2.0 - Bump!ed - AT&T LG G3

TWRP 2.8.2.0Team Win Recovery Project 2.x, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
This is not an official TeamWin TWRP build. I used TWRP sources found HERE, device tree that I created for TWRP that can be found HERE along with many trial and error builds that took just as many hours to get it right...
Changelog:
CHANGELOG for 2.8.2.0:
-Pull in all changes from Android 5.0 lollipop into TWRP
-Add decrypt support for Android 5.0 lollipop encrypted partitions including automatic decrypt when the default_password is in use
-Revert some changes to exFAT that were breaking exFAT support on some devices
-Other minor fixes and updates
Note: At this time we do not have a GUI representation for pattern unlock. You can still decrypt patterns though by translating the pattern dots to numbers. The pattern dots correspond to numbers in the following pattern:
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
So an upper-case L would translate to a password of 14789 entered on the keyboard. Eventually we plan to add a proper pattern unlock to TWRP but it is a relatively low priority at this point.
More info and changelog can be found on the official TWRP website HERE
Install Instructions:
You will need root which you can find HERE by @autoprime
With custom recovery already installed.
Download
Place zip file on phone
Reboot into recovery
Flash zip file through recovery

Haha Good job man!:good:

Works great. Great work. Sucks I just formatted my card to FAT less than 24 hours ago.

Where is the option for exfat formatting?

Anyone else when backing up or flashing that the bar doesn't feel up and there's a line to the left that fills up?

He means that SD Cards formatted to ExFat are supported in recovery now. You can backup and install from an SD Card formatted to ExFat.

So can we keep sd card to fat32 or should we switch back?

You can keep it formatted to FAT32 but, there is a 4GB file size limit on the FAT32 file system. I would recommend switching to ExFat as it is a faster file system and doesn't have the file size limitations that FAT32 has.

Ok, I guess what I'm asking is, how do I format the SD card to exfat? I can format it to fst32 with twrp but not the other way that I can see.

So i know nexus devices are encrypted by default now, but are most lollipop roms (like cm12) encrypted too? also, if we reflash another lollipop rom after decrypting will revert back to being encrypted?

Anyone else's twrp status bar not filling up properly and actually in a line to the left??

Thank you very much for this.
Confirmed exfat working.

For some reason my phone doesn't restart into the system. Gets back to TWRP. Power off, battery pull and power on still gets it back to recovery. Backup restore didn't help.
I flashed recovery with Flashify, created backup, got back into the system. And overnight something happened.

Same here. This morning woke up to find my phone in TWRP recovery and would not boot system. Stuck in a loop that takes it straight to TWRP recovery. I have a feeling a system update did this because one showed up from AT&T that even though I did not install it, must have self-installed overnight and caused this. Ideas?

[Recovery] ClockworkMod 3.1.0.1-solarnz-R3 Modded for Internal media

ClockworkMod Recovery - Modified for Asus Transformer
OK, so this recovery will skip /data/media (Internal storage) when performing nandroid backups and also when you perform a factory reset.
This means that we can now perform nandroid backups without backing up our internal media and removing it everytime you want to do a backup.
Thanks to Bigrushdog and MadIndustries for helping out with the concept of the solution for skipping /data/media.
Also thanks to Koush and all the other developers that have contributed to clockworkmod, without you guys the android world would be completely different.
Thanks also to everyone in #xoom & #transformer that tested this.
The source code for all changes etc are available through the github repository. The two other projects that have been modified to make this recovery possible can also be viewed through my github account.
Even though this recovery has been tested, I am not liable for any loss of data or any damages done by this recovery.
==============================================
General Notes
When I refer to /data/media, this is the same as /sdcard when the transformer is booted into honeycomb. So any data that is stored in here should be untouched by this recovery.
Nandroid backups and restores don't touch the boot or recovery partitions.
If you encounter a problem with the filesystem on /data like it has become corrupt, place a blank file called "eraseData" (without the quotes) in the clockworkmod folder on your external sdcard. This will revert to the old way of formatting /data. NOTE: by doing this you will lose everything that you have in /data/media.
Versioning of recovery images:
At the moment I don't have a version number as such, instead each recovery image is timestamped in the format of DDMMYY-HHYY. So the file recovery-solarnz-120511-2030.img was produced on 12 May 2011 at 8:30 PM. This versioning is also shown in recovery when it starts.

Downloads
Recovery Zip (solarnz-R3-240511-1908) FLASHED THROUGH CWM
MD5: 4470bee75f3318f07ec1eb5ddcee1f96
==============================================
Installation Instructions
Method 1 Flashing through CWM
Download the recovery zip file
Place the recovery zip on the sdcard where clockworkmod can read it.
Reboot into recovery using "adb reboot recovery" or any other method
In recovery, select flash zip from sdcard and select the recovery zip you downloaded
Once it has flashed the zip file, be sure to reboot your transformer so it complete the flashing process.

Also, you can grab Rom Manager or QuickBoot from the market for easy access to recovery.

- Initial release for Asus Transformer
- Modified to skip /data/media or /sdcard in nandroid backups.
- Modified formatting /data to remove directories and folders so we can keep media.
- Place a file called eraseData in the clockworkmod directory on your EXTERNAL sdcard to revert to the normal restoration method.

Great work. I've tested extensively and have found no problems. this does exactly what it says on the tin.
I can also confirm that this version works fine with restoring pre-existing nandroid backups from the same device.
AT LAST someones done it! Thank you
Why it's specific to Transformer? What about Xoom? Does it has different data layout? I thought it should be standard to Honeycomb...
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
Will this be compatible with previous backups I have made? Will the previous backups still restore the sdcard folder still?
Also, +1 about why this has to be unique for the TF and can't be honeycomb universal.
anyone install rom manager yet? it says that i don't have CWM recovery installed but i do because i've used it shoudd i reinstall useing ROM manager?

Neither of these methods will work currently to reboot into recovery. However you can use Quickboot to reboot the TF and hold the Vol Down then press Vol Up to get to recovery.

Good to know going to flash this tonite, hopefully they will be able to get this working like we have on the phones. But like ViviDboarder said I can do it old school for now
Great! Def needed this.
Does anyone know if performing a factory reset/wiping deletes the data in this directory?
Yes, that will wipe the data too.
Thanks for the CWM mod, this will save me the headache of having to backup my music and videos for no reason

I'll flash it as soon as another ROM version floats a long.

[RECOVERY] TWRP 2.6.3.0 touch recovery [2013-09-16]

Team Win Recovery Project 2.x, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. It’s a fully touch driven user interface – no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
Phone look:
Tablet look:
CHANGELOG for 2.6.3.0:
-Proper backup and restore of SELinux contexts (thanks to Tassadar)
-Pull in some ROM information for backup name generation
-Merge all recent patches from AOSP bringing TWRP up to date with Android 4.3
-Add 1200x1920 theme (thanks to Tassadar)
-A few other fixes and tweaks
CHANGELOG for 2.6.1.0:
-Initial SELinux support (only a few devices, need testers so come by IRC if your device doesn't have it and needs it)
-Initial support for f2fs file system formatting (Moto X)
-Update SuperSU install for 4.3 ROMs
-Fixed a permissions bug on files created during backup
-Fixed a bug that caused TWRP to not wait for compressed backups to finish causing 0 byte files and md5sums to not match
-Fixed decryption of encrypted data so that both TouchWiz and AOSP decryption are possible
-Ignore lost+found folder during backup and size calculations
-Various other minor bug fixes and tweaks
CHANGELOG for 2.6.0.0:
Special Note: If you are running a custom theme, you will likely need to remove that theme before updating to 2.6.0.0 as your custom theme will likely not have some of the new changes visible (e.g. you won't be able to encrypt a backup)!
-Can encrypt a backup to prevent theft of private data from your backup files
-Updated graphics / icon courtesy of shift
-Updated exFAT to latest commits
-Fixed a problem with Samsung TouchWiz decryption
-Update SuperSU binary
-Fixed saving of backup partitions list
-Fixed saving of last used zip install folder
-Fixed backup of datadata on devices that use a separate partition for datadata
-Fixed some issues with the advanced wipe list (android_secure, can now wipe internal storage on data/media deivces and wipe data on the advanced list no longer formats the entire data partition)
-Fixed some problems with partitioning a SD card
-Various other bug fixes and tweaks
Notes about encrypted backups:
Why encrypt your backups? -- Most people store their backups on the device. Any app that has permission to access storage could potentially read your backup files and try to harvest your data. Encrypted backups also provide an added layer of security if you move your backups to other storage devices or to the cloud. The encryption that we're using is probably not strong enough for enterprise level security, but should be strong enough to make it significantly difficult to get to your data.
Encryption is using OpenAES which uses AES 128-bit cbc encryption. If you happen to use a longer password (over 16 characters) then the encryption strength improves to 192 or 256 bits. Do not forget your password. If you forget your password you will be unable to restore your backup. We don't encrypt the entire backup. Encryption is very CPU intensive and can be fairly slow even when we spread the workload over multiple cores even on the latest high-end devices. To ensure that encrypted backups don't take forever, we don't encrypt any other partitions besides /data and in /data we don't encrypt /data/app (or other app related directories where apks are stored) and we don't encrypt dalvik cache.
DOWNLOAD:
The fastest and easiest way to install TWRP is to use the GooManager app:
Play Store Link
Direct Download
1) Install GooManager from the Play Store
2) Open GooManager and provide root permissions
3) Hit Menu (or the button with the 3 dots on your screen) and then Install OpenRecovery
OR:
You can find more information and download links on our website!
BUGS:
If you have found a bug, please consider posting it to our github issues log. It's pretty much impossible for us to keep up with the more than 40 threads that we have for the devices that we "directly" support. If you have a significant problem that cannot be answered in this thread, your best bet is to PM me directly, contact us via our website, or find us in our IRC channel below. If you see someone that's struggling, feel free to point it out to us. We need your help to help us keep track of all of our devices! Thanks!

answer 1 yes download the zip file and flash it like you do with rom's
answer 2 no if your key its not working you have to be booted and if your rom dont have that option dust search on market(play store) for quick reboot
Thanks for the quick reply...... I guess I will wait till Monday or Tuesday till I get it fixed to flash this recovery....... as I nearly lost use of phone as the last rom I installed didn't boot and the volume down key saved me by working for the very last time.

You can use Droid explorer to reboot into recovery without any volume keys. this is a computer application that is able to read your device in any stage, booting, recovery and even during bootanimation.
Just boot up ur device and connect it to your computer
Launch droid explorer
wait for device to be detected and connected
goto tools and reboot into recovery
Done.
I have one question. Can I flash IMG files through this recovery? For example radio.img file, in HTC Deisre i had some rocovery (i dont remamber name) i could flash radio.img. Sorry for my bad english :|

No, you need to flash it in fastboot. The command to do so is (without the quotes) "fastboot flash recovery *name of recovery.img*"

For the record:
Factory reset wipes both data and cache. Dalvik cache is part of data and cache so there's no need to wipe dalvik if you already did a factory reset. 99% of the time the ROM zip that you install wipes system for you, so you usually don't need to wipe system and doing so is just more wear and tear on your emmc chip along with wasted time.
So, for 99% of cases, a factory reset is all you need.

[TOOL/UTILITY][TWRP][3.0][RECOVERY] TWRP 3.0.0-1 TeamWin Recovery Project 3/28/2016

[RECOVERY] [3/28/16] TWRP 3.0.0-1 - TeamWin Recovery Project
TeamWin is proud to present TWRP 3.0.x for the Motorola Photon Q!
Youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIvWVS_Rkxo
Full TeamWin credits are on the TWRP page on the TeamWin website: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2
Introduction:
Team Win Recovery Project or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. We started from the ground up by taking AOSP recovery and loading it with the standard recovery options, then added a lot of our own features. It's a fully touch driven user interface , no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
Key Features:
Touchscreen driven with real buttons and drag-to-scroll
XML-based GUI that allows full customization of the layout true theming!
Settings are saved to the sdcard and persist through reboots
Ability to choose which partitions to back up and which to restore
Ability to choose to compress backups now with pigz (multi-core processor support for faster compression times)
Onscreen keyboard
Decryption of /data
Easy selection of internal/external storage
See changelog below for new features
In addition to the above new features, TWRP features a scripting engine that allows an app to send commands to the recovery for the recovery to perform during startup. We call this scripting engine OpenRecoveryScript. This engine will be put to use immediately in the GooManager app. GooManager will be able to install recoveries automatically for most supported devices. The app will also let you choose to install multiple zips from within Android, wipe cache & dalvik, and run a backup.
We are looking for other talented developers, themers, and device maintainers if they are interested in helping with a free, open source project.

Buglist
**If you had an old version of TWRP installed before, MAKE SURE you 'Restore Defaults' under 'Settings' in TWRP**
Clock is off. Not sure why, seems unfixable.
Cannot use physical keyboard to type in Recovery...Obviously the on-screen kb works fine.
Directions:
** You must be unlocked in order to do this.**
2 choices after rooting. You can download TWRP Manager from the Play Store, menu, TWRP install & wait... (I do not provide support for this app FYI) or:
1. Reboot into fastboot (adb reboot bootloader, or turn off device, hold power + cam when booting and select 'fastboot')
2. Once in fastboot,
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-2.7.1.2-asanti_c.img
3. Hit power - device turns off. Hold vol up + power, then release power when the screen comes on - continue holding vol up. When you see the moto logo dim a bit, release vol up. You should now be in TWRP!
Works great! I used Goomanager
Edit: Works as in installs and boots. Touchscreen works, I have not tested the actual functions as of yet.
Tried to do a backup to external SD, it seems to have done it but after the loading bar finished I got the initial blue and black logo and couldn't get out of it. Had to 3 button reboot. Can't find the backup.

Hrm. I'll look into that... I think I've only done a backup to internal SD as my external is ridiculously full.
Edit - just did a backup of boot to the external, worked just fine. Perhaps wait a bit? How long did you wait, and what were you backing up?
Edit 2 - ok, perhaps I jumped the gun. "Worked" doesn't quite describe it... I have the TWRP folders for the backup, but there's no backup file in there. Strange... Perhaps because I backed up only boot. I'll try again with less junk on the card and do a full backup...

Hrm. I'll look into that... I think I've only done a backup to internal SD as my external is ridiculously full.
Edit - just did a backup of boot to the external, worked just fine. Perhaps wait a bit? How long did you wait, and what were you backing up?

Just went with the default settings, I didn't wait that long after the progress bar went away it went back to a team logo, I let it sit for about a minute and then reset it. Trying again.
Ran through it again, it took a while backing up /data. (398 megs). The bar filled all the way up though it still said "... Backing up /data" Sitting at the teamwin logo again, it's been on this image for 4 minutes at this point (Went to the logo at 6:09). ( Now it's blinking. And now it reset. These could have been caused by my touching the screen. I think the logo is getting "stuck" ). Is the progress bar based on a timer or events?
Also, it made the TWRP folder on the internal SD regardless of the fact I told it external. I did notice that the backup path during said "/sdcard" and not "/mnt/external1". The folder does not contain a backup.

Indeed.
I am in the same "stuck" situation as you now. For the meantime, it seems backing up to external SD does NOT work... I tested backup and restore, but only to internal SD. I saw that my external didn't have enough space, and wrote it off as enough... Apologies for not thoroughly testing that.

No worries, that's what makes XDA the place that it is ^-^. If I expected perfection I would buy an iPh.... couldn't do it with a straight face.
OK, the issue with external SD should be fixed. However, I don't have the ability to push the changes to GooManager, so you'll have to flash manually until it's updated on GooManager (I'll let you know )
Edit - to be clear, you cannot use GooManager or the official link right now. Please use 'mirror 1' and manually update in order to fix the external SD issue (until it's officially updated).
Alrighty, Dees_Troy said it is officially updated. I can see the update on the official link - but I'm not sure how on GooManager you update - if you just click 'check for updates'? That seems to only check on ROM updates, but I could be wrong.
Please let me know how it goes! If you experience any issues, etc.
Edit - seems you just do the same as when it was initially installed... Menu -> Install OpenRecoveryScript & wait... then reboot to recovery.
Also, if you notice - TWRP is now 2.2.2.2 - yes, a whole lotta 2's... but that last .2 is the Q!! Congrats, we're official!
Aweesssommeee....
2.2.2.2 is finally showing up in goo
New SD path seems to be working. Any idea what driver it tried to install?
Looks like the logo issue is fixed too, grats.

Driver? Not sure what you're talking about... there is ADB in recovery, if that's what you mean...

Hmm, maybe I'm just going crazy, when it booted into recovery I got a dialog box that it was trying to install "asanti" and didn't have the driver, I've got the motorola app installed and adb works normally. Probably just a fluke.

Huh... perhaps when the device was 'in limbo'. I forced mine into limbo a few times messing with the kernel yesterday, and it did indeed create a bunch of new devices in Windows - some installed correctly, but adb didn't exactly work...
Hopefully no more of that on TWRP! I have run thru the gambit and the only outstanding fixable bugs are probably going to be the mass storage and the physical keyboard - which will probably take some time. I don't think the clock issue is fix-able...
Let me know if you guys find anything else broken. So far it has all worked for me!
Anyone know how long it's supposed to take to install thru goomanager?

Same. It was REALLY fast over wifi.
I must be missing something. I sat and watched it say installing recovery for about 15minutes. Had to keep touching the screen to keep it awake... Will try again.
Edit: it just took about 40seconds.. Thanks. It works now.

So I've got 3 thanks on the first post, and I think 2 people have responded that they've installed it (with a third 'approving' of it )... but 60+ downloads? Is it just working that well that everyone forgets this thread exists? Hahahaha!
Well, I hope it is working well for everyone. Enjoy!

[RECOVERY] Official Release of TWRP recovery now available

Sweet!

Anyone test it out and if so, findings?!
Will be trying this when I get home later in a couple hours..
I tried both versions on my g900p and everything works except for writing to the external sdcard. Backups and restores are fine on the internal memory.
Update: Write problem is limited to external SD cards that are formatted in exFAT format. FAT32 formatted cards work fine.
Send from my Sprint SM-G900P
I was able to install the recovery via the dd method without any issues. Havnt tested any features but it does boot into recovery normal and without issues.

I flash the odin version. I was able to make a back up on the internal space. However I got an error when I tried to flash it to the the the external SD card. It said not able to create back up folder.
There was an issue with writing to an exFAT formatted sd card but a new version was released yesterday that fixes that issue.

Yeah that write up description is from years ago. Goo Manager usually is the preferred method of installing it , and probably the easiest. They just still haven't paced it on three severs yet. I'll make a flashable later today. But if your still using the Stock Recovery, or the moment you will have to flash it Via Odin, or download the "img" from there site, then DL "Flashifly" from the PlayStore and your can install it thru that as well

2.7.1.0
Saw this posted yesterday.. anyone know whats new? Thanks!
openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.0-gt-klte
Edit: What's new in 2.7.1.0:
Add GUI option to change or repair file systems on individual partitions. The change is destructive so backup your data including internal sdcard first. This option should make it a little easier to migrate a device from ext4 -> f2fs, for instance. You will find this option under Wipe -> Advanced Wipe, then select only one partition and then press the Repair or Change File System button. If a developer has added f2fs support for your device and we don't have it in TWRP, please contact me via PM to arrange for it to be added.
Various bugfixes to backup and restore
Improvements to USB storage handling
Added a class to search for files to make finding the correct brightness file automatic in most cases
Various other bugfixes and tweaks

Team Win Recovery Project for the LG G Pad X 8.0 (V521, V522, V525)

[RECOVERY] TWRP 2.8.7.0 - TeamWin Recovery Project
TeamWin is proud to present TWRP v3.0.2.0 for the LG G Pad X 8.0 (V521, V522, V525)
Youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIvWVS_Rkxo
Full TeamWin credits are on the TWRP page on the TeamWin website: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2
Introduction:
Team Win Recovery Project or twrp for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind.
We are looking for other talented developers, themers, and device maintainers if they are interested in helping with a free, open source project.

updated the link, same file name fixed internal storage mount and a few other minor issues
8/20/2016 - initial release
Youll need to use flashify to flash the image after rooting. this should work on all b3 models, aka lg v525, v521 etc
For the test version i had of 2.7.8.0 i had to do this, since i have already done it i cant confirm if you need to on 3.0.2.0 or not. ----- data/internal storage wont mount/work until you go to wipe> format data and format without encryption reboot recovery and then do a factory reset. this will wipe your ENTIRE device but allow you to use twrp normally.
Thanks a lot, i'll flash it soon. Any idea if xposed would work on this device?

I dont use or follow xposed development (my last 3 personal phones werent even rooted) i dont see any reason why it wouldnt we have twrp as well as stock kdz so you can mess things up pretty bad and still recover.

IF POSSIBLE, please add your thread to our device ET so we can get a full thread eventually - http://forum.xda-developers.com/t/lg-g-padx
Also, update the version number in the title. I was able to get TWRP working, you do still need to wipe to clear the encryption (it says it does this in red). Then, you can continue using it normally.

i was on that page and clicked new thread, not sure why it didnt work or how exactly you are supposed to do it as that logically made the most sense to me.
i know you need to wipe to clear the encryption, but i wasnt sure if you needed to clear the encryption in order to use twrp properly as i had already done it on an older version. good catch on the version number

I'm not entirely sure about clearing encryption to use TWRP. I know when I did it, TWRP functioned normally.
Ill ask XDA about the ET, maybe it has a second page that isn't showing.

If it could be made as flashable .dz or .tot, that would be excellent.

as previously mentioned, only people who have leaked lg tools can make flashable tots etc. i spent hours researching it, testing out different methods and reflashing stock kdz a bunch of times.
the only way i could streamline this is if i submitted this to be made official so once rooted you could use twrp manager, but the submission process isnt exactly one that is a lot of fun to do. especially considering with flashify you only have to do like 3 clicks anyways.
Got something for you, shabbypenguin.
My intitial partitions-being-unmountable-due-to-unknown-error-150 likely because of faulty .tot file. the 1.4GB one works. of course after flashing 10c
Device still reports as LG V510 via MTP. Not a huge deal.
In TWRP file browser, internal storage is mounted as /emmc ?!
SD Card will not mount, log attached. Complete. /external_sd is not /dev/block/mmcblk0p1. It's /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 I manually mounted it there and it works.
Some errors about /sdcard as well. Probably cant mount /data/media/0 there. is my guess.
OTG does not mount properly as well, in recovery it shows up at /dev/block/sda1, recovery's fstab points at /usb-otg?
Was gonna put the output of mount/df from recovery and android but thought that wouldn't help.

I have flashed TWRP many times in the past on many devices. Yet for the 1st time after using Flashify, it obviously did not install properly as it didn't mount internal storage on this pad. It doesn't even recognize show that there's anything available in internal storage to back up to. Frankly, I don't understand your above instructions on how to property install it.
Typing clear instructions would be greatly appreciated as I can't use it. But do appreciate the time you put into it and will make a donation once this has been fixed.

you need to go to wipe > format data. your devices data is by default encrypted and twrp cant decrypt it. once youve wiped data, reboot recovery and then do a factory reset. your device will boot and function as normal and youll have a fully working twrp
