How do I find mac address of my HTC Touch 3G trying to get connected via my home broadband and router is set up for Mac Address filtering ???? ... Thanks .....
settings->connections-wireless lan->advanced
I have had trouble setting up my tp2 as a adhoc network to connect via either the htc wifi router or the wmwifirouter with wep encrytion enabled with a mac under os x 10.4.11. I googled and searched these various forums and could not find an answer. I discovered on some mac kb article that sometimes in os x in order to access any third party (ie non apple) wireless routers under wep you need to put a $ before the encrytion key. So I input a 10 digit hexidecimal key into wmwifirouter (1234567890) and on my mac I put $1234567890 and it connects now no problems... (for anyone of you who runs into this issue)
Picked up my Desire S today, all seemed well at work playing with the phone menus etc but now I've got it home I'm having a nightmare trying to get it to connect to my wireless network. It can see the network ok and allows me to put in a password. The phone gives no incorrect password message and seems to connect but will then disconnect right away.
I've tried the static ip fix some people mention for wifi issues with this phone but it makes no difference, has this happened to anyone else?
I always forget to disable mac address filter on my access point when trying to connect with a new device.
Yeah I do have mac filtering on but adding the mac address or disabling address filtering altogether had no effect, but thankfully the phone is now working on my wireless network. For some reason it wouldn't connect until the new sim card I was given had become active, which is very odd!
Dear, All
I Flashed all roms in the forum, to have internet working i have to use static ip settings, only one rom works fine with Dynamic which is :
Cognition HD :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1028115
But it's not Gingerbrea............ i don't wanna use it......
My Access Point in the home is : US Robotics
Could any body tell me what to do.
HELP
It is probably in your router configuration.
Sounds like you have dhcp turned off on your router.
Try also resetting the router to stock default settings and go from there.
Sent from my HTC Inspireā¢ 4G using XDA App
I did every thing
I did every thing you can imagine regarding the access point
rest to factory
change radio channel
with / without security
the DHCP working fine
seems that Dynamic setting could not get the Default gateway & DNS , WiFi can get it only with custom rom based on stock rom......
Is it WiFi driver problem , if it is.. how can i fix it?
I am useing now Honeysense 5.0 rom
Help
Any Body??
Possibly an IP conflict too... most likely its the router.. use channel 11 and set security to WEP..
Does ur router let u designate an IP based on connected MAC addresses?

Why would you ever tell anybody to do that?! Either use WPA2 w/ AES encryption (AES only, don't use TKIP) or just don't use security.
On another note, have you tried connecting to any other wifi networks with these other ROMs (i.e. public hotspots or at a friend's house)? Sometimes routers just are overly picky about how IP requests are handled and some devices don't play nicely. We have a client who's Macbook _WILL NOT_ get and IP from their Linksys regardless of the fact that every other device we've ever tried (everything from multiple Windows laptops to a Linux laptop to iPhones, iPods and android phones) works fine with it.
|OP|, try connecting to another Wireless Access Point and get back with us, please.
Try the APN trick listed in the forum. Your router might be set to IPV6 and you need it set to IPV4

Why? Because I had a problem with obtaining an IP on this phone UNTIL I changed WEP. I understand its the lowest security level, but I am not overly concerned with my WiFi getting hacked since 1. My ssid isn't broadcast and 2. If it was you would have to be within 10 ft of my house to even get a signal.
Since changing to WEP on this phone I haven't had a single problem with obtaining an IP

So buying a new router worked?
Hello
Is anyone using VPN L2TP/IPsec PSK connection on his/her Desire S with stock HTC ROM with latest OTA updates, please?
If I define the connection with all required parameters and try to connect to my home VPN gateway, my DS gets completely frozen... Only possibility is to remove and insert battery (dangerous I know, but also power+vol buttons did not help).
In logs on VPN gateway I see that connection has been successfully initiated but anyway the phone gets frozen... :-(
VPN connections works fine from PC with Win7 and also from HTC with Windows Mobile OS. I tried also from another Android phone (ZTE Blade) Android 2.2 version and that phone just reboots during connection... terrible. Searching forums on internet I see I'm not the only to have such issues, I saw also users with SGS2 and other phones reporting reboots/freezing issues with VPN...
Any positive experience with VPNs among DS users?
thanks
