[Q] Stuck in boot animation after updating to L - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, I had the final L 5.0 flashed in my Nexus 5 when suddenly, after a poweroff, it wouldn't come back again, stuck in the flying dots boot animation. After many attemps and leaving it for the night, I tried re-flashing the L (LRX21O) back to it. No luck, still stuck in the flying dots (and yes, I did erase the cache and data partitions). I installed the 4.4.4 image and it booted; however I had some *very* weird problems, like the internal memory not being recognized (camera/gallery/appstore wouldn't open, got error about missing sd card, in the nexus 5). Then tried to update OTA from KitKat to Lollipop and got stuck in the same stage; those damn dots!! Can anyone help me "unbrick" my phone in Lollipop?
Ok, I reinstalled kitkat. While it booted up, i watched the internal storage's contents through windows explorer. I cried in joy when i finally saw the folders get created appropriately (dcim, downloads, etc.). but when I proceeded to select the phone's language, i got the message that the camera and gallery apps had stopped working. As soon as that happened, i fell in great pain as the folders had disappeared from the internal storage, which was again empty. What is going on here????

Nevermind, I solved it. Had to fix (e2fsck) the /persist partition (never heard of it before) and voilá - everything went back to normal

[Q] Internal Storage Corrupt

I installed TWRP to install a different kernel.
It installed and offered to wipe Dalvik Cache, which I thought would be a good idea. It then seemed to get stuck doing this, so eventually I turned off and rebooted.
It rebooted fine, but the internal memory seems to be unreadable and Google Play seems to constantly crash.
I thought the quickest way to start again was to oem lock and unlock again. It then seemed to get stuck booting up.
I got back into TWRP and did a data reset, which is now allowing me to boot again, but I still have no Internal Storage and Google Play still FC's.
I'm currently trying the Nexus 5 Multi Tool to reset back to original state (flash back stock ROM)
It's got 30 minutes to go, downloading the ROM... so I thought I would ask if anyone had any ideas for me?
Thanks.

[Q] P500 - Touchscreen stops working after SD mount.

So, I just installed Wallpaper Changer - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.wallpaperChanger -
and it locked up my phone after a couple changes.
Phone restarted itself, but now whenever the SD card goes to mount(even if I remove the card) the touch locks up, and after awhile the whole phone locks(correction, the phone's still functioning, my Wifisignal is still changing).
Also, nothing from SD is loading properly.
is there any way to remove the app without flashing?
Rooted, Stock everything, flashed with India Rom awhile back due to a CWM recovery semi-brick I did to myself.
Edit - Just crashed and restarted itself while sitting there trying to load everything. 'stuck' on the Android loadscreen.
*Thread Delete Request*
I fixed it, I think.
I was going through CWR to see if there was any options to remove apk's.. and just wiped my Dalvik and rebooted, it worked.
thanks though ^,..,^

[Q] Stuck in Lollipop flying dots,Flash Kitkat gives no external storage & no service
My device is a Nexus 5 32GB.
It was on Kitkat but I updated to Lollipop a couple of months ago, and everything was running with no errors.
This week when restarting the phone, it got stuck on the flying dots boot screen with nothing working to get it going.
I tried wiping Cache, Dalvikcache, Data, Factory reset but no effect.
I reflashed Lollipop original ROM using adb/fastboot but no use.
I flashed Cyanogenmod 12 but it got stuck on its own boot screen.
I flashed Kitkat original ROM and it got past the boot screen and worked, but most applications do not work (example: Camera, Gallery) and give a "No External Storage Error". I also have no Service (no phone, no mobile data), SIM card cannot be detected.
Again I tried wiping Cache, Dalvikcache, Data, Factory reset but no effect.
I downloaded the Lollipop OTA update but it got stuck on flying dots again, so I reflashed Kitkat.
Now I have no service and no external storage detected again.
I am unable to install any apps from the Play Store.
Please help

When you flash back to KK, did you flash userdata and cache ? If no, do so.
What do you call external storage ? N5 only have internal storage.
Then I would say, follow this tutorial if you didn't try it already : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47156078&postcount=2
It's help me when my phone won't boot up after downgrading from L to KK

[Q] Nexus 5 stuck at flying dots. Any pointers where to proceed.

Hi Guys,
I was playing Clash of Clans on my Nexus 5 when my phone ran out of battery. I charged & switched on, from there my phone was stuck at flying dots. What I tried,
Hard Factory Reset
Wipe Cache Partition
Then again re-booted it, still again stuck at flying dots. Then used TWRP recovery, but still it stuck at flying dots.
After this little stint with TWRP, finally flashed Lollipop version5.1.1 (LMY48B), but again it stuck at flying dots.
But this time, I received ./cache partition error. I have used the steps mentioned in this link:
HTML:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701
+ fastboot flash cache cache.img mentioned in here:
HTML:
http://androidforums.com/threads/nexus-5-stuck-in-the-start-up-screen.887612/
Though cache partition error got removed, but still was stuck at the same situation. Finally, roll-backed to KIT-KAT, this time it worked, but Camera, Gallery, Play Store was continuously crashing. When I opened the gallery it showed no SD card, then I downloaded few files + downloaded OTA update, they both got downloaded. So, I think internal memory is my fine, don't know the possible reason of this error. One more thing, my sim card was also not readable.
Few hours later, I again flashed my phone to Lollipop, then again got stuck at flying points.
PS : Apologies for making this post long, but just want to tell the methods I tried.
Resoved the issue using: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/guide
Issue got Resolved. Nexus is Up again.:good:
What did you do to fix it, might help others

A handful of problems after performing a factory reset

Hi.
I installed some dodgy app which required root access to operate (but it didn't even though I allowed it in SuperSu) and this is where my problems started.
First of all, I noticed each and every app I tried to run would immediately crash. That included system apps, such as the Settings app. At that stage I was left with only the launcher working and attempts to uninstall apps would also cause a crash. Even the shutdown menu was broken and the phone hung up so I was forced to reboot it by holding the power button for 10 seconds.
After that, the phone would no longer be able to boot, it was stuck in a boot loop, but recovery still worked (TWRP for that matter) so firstly I wiped the cache partitions (including dalvik cache) but that didn't help, as the phone still wouldn't boot. In this case there was only one thing left for me to try and that was the factory reset capability of TWRP which claimed to not even touch internal storage so I was fine with that and did the wipe.
Thankfully, the phone booted afterwards and it welcomed me with the first startup guide (the language selection dialog was really buggy but that's Huawei's fault) and the phone was seemingly ok, except that the whole internal storage had been wiped out but not only that - the external microsd card was empty as well! Could you believe that? I couldn't. TWRP promised not to touch internal storage and the external memory card wasn't even mentioned but why would it wipe it anyway?
That's for the story behind it, now for the actual problems I'm facing right now:
The stock remote app is gone
The boot animation has changed to a different one (now it's a silver "android" logo instead of the "honor" logo)
Battery usage stats are not available (see: http://i.cubeupload.com/BXCknW.png)
Sound quality from the built-in speaker seems noticeably worse
Hereby, I'm asking you guys to help me out with all of this.
The "remote app missing" problem could be solved by someone sharing their apk file with me, that's probably the simplest one to fix.
As for the boot animation, I have no clue as I don't even know what files are responsible for that.
The same for the battery stats problem, I'm already through a couple of full-charge-to-discharge cycles as well as wiping the cache partition, but the problem remains.
The sound quality probably has to do with the DTS sound enhancer. The config file for that is either "/cust/unicom/cn/xml/dolby_config.xml" or "/cust/unicomelectric/cn/xml/dolby_config.xml" and I'm asking you to upload these files somewhere so I can compare them with mine to see if anything is different.
The device I'm using is the H60-L02 variant running the B532 ROM.
Does the 3 buttons method erase internal storage as well? I've already set up quite some apps and having to do it again wouldn't be the most pleasant surprise. But at least in this case I could make some backups and whatnot...
Also, would it work if I flashed B535 straight away or does the 3 buttons method expect the same version which is already installed, in this case B532?

It will wipe internal storage. You can flash any *full* ROM as long as you're not moving up or down from kitkat-lolipop/marshmallow.

Okay, so I decided I'd do the whole thing today. I downloaded the full B535 ROM on my PC, backed up all the stuff I care about from the phone to the PC as well, and also I downloaded the MultiTool.
Though the MultiTool thread says this in bold red:
VirusPlus said:
EMUI 3.1 WARNING! Update over rooted or system modded in EMUI 3.1 gives a BRICK.
You have to restore system and REMOVE root before every update in EMUI 3.1 for now.

So I also fired up Titanium Backup in order to defrost all the frozen apps, which went fine, and then I wanted to unroot the phone but I've been unable to do so so far.
To unroot, I launch the SuperSU app, navigate to the "Settings" tab and select "Full unroot". The problem being, it just gets stuck on the screen saying "Uninstalling, please wait...". I don't know how long it usually takes to complete, so far I've waited for maybe 10 minutes and nothing seems to change. Should I care about that? Is that warning about updating rooted/modified EMUI 3.1 resulting in a brick still true?
Can I skip this step and just flash the stock recovery followed by the 3 buttons method?
EDIT:
After some trial and error with the multi tool and different recoveries, I was able to finally unroot. Next, I flashed the stock recovery for B532 and attempted to do the 3 buttons method, but it would say "Install failed. The update package does not exist" (could be because I'm doing the update from a USB flash drive as I don't have an micro sd card big enough to fit the package). So I rebooted the phone into system and used the Updater to perfrom a local update where it would let me pick the USB drive. It completed without errors and then rebooted into some kind of updater (black background and some bluish emui colors) where it also took some time to finish thankfully successfully. I can right now see the phone booting and for what it's worth, the boot animation is once again the good old "honor" logo and not that ugly silvery "android" one
And now it's "Optimizing system...". I really hope it finsishes successfully as it's already a bit late here and I wouldn't like the phone to be unusable tomorrow
36% ready...
46% it's kind of fun to watch this, and now 49%
I'd like to thank @pudup once more for helping out, I'm not really that much into flashing recoveries, roms and all that myself. Without your help I would probably be too scared to try doing something on my own :crying:
86%, 89%, 95% and 100%. Aww, what a relief Good old stock lock screen and wallpaper.
