[Q] CyanogenMod 11 Nightlies - HTC Desire S

I have tried builds 20141124 and 20141127 and they seem nice and smooth
The only only problem I am having is that I cannot seem to get mobile data to work with either build.
Any Ideas please?

CM-11-20141129-UNOFFICIAL-saga.zip is quite stable Nightly. However, minor issues remained such as calling microphone which, however, could be fixed by finny mic fix provided. So far, the nightly provides with the basic need for daily usage. I intend to use this nightly for a daily phone and it is my only phone anyway. Thanks to Kylon, Mustaavalkosta and Paulb_nl for their kind commitment.

I've managed to sort out the problem. The APN that I require for my network wasn't there and I had to create it manually, I did get an error on the initial boot about my SIM and I am wondering whether that has something to with the available APN's in the 11 nightlies. There were only three available APN's in 11 opposed to nine APN's listed in the 10.1 build that I was previously running. I have manually created the APN based upon the settings from 10.1 and all is well now.

[Q] Here's a crazy question...

It seems I've erased absolutely everything from my HTC One S. The only thing I have on it is the latest Paranoid Android and related GAPPS.
I was having problems with it before, went to install a new rom - and it wouldn't boot. So I got into the bootloader and.... uh..... kind of did a factory reset. Yeah, so I'm stupid and admit it. Anyway, I then got into TWRP and mounted the SD card, copied the rom and gapps, flashed them and rebooted.
The rom (PA) booted and most everything works except that I think I'm missing some core files or whatever that come with the phone (as opposed to those that a rom would have.) For instance, I show no networks whatsoever on the wifi settings and I can't turn the wifi on... so maybe I'm missing the radio files? Also, the clock won't automatically come to local time, so I'm guessing that's also a radio issue - like maybe I deleted it!?!
So here's some info from About Phone:
Android 4.2.2
Baseband: 1.08ts 50 02 16_10 08e50.04L
Paranoid Android 3.60
I have no idea if the above info helps or not, or what info is needed: but does it sound like I'm missing the radio files or something, and, if so, where do I get them?
Thanks for any help, folks.
Extra info:
Maybe I do still have radio files as it's listed in the bootloader. Here's what is listed:

HBOOT - 1.14.0004
RADIO - 1.08ts.50.02.16

Wifi error

So my wifi doesn't work.
Everytime I try to put it on, it switches off almost immediately . Sometimes I am not even able to switch it on at all. (the switch button becomes grey).
I got this phone from a friend of mine a year ago. The wifi wasn't working either back then (but I believe it had worked at some point in the beginning). When I got the phone it still had the stock rom. Then I flashed some custom roms, mostly CM (gingerbread, ICS). That didn't do any good for my wifi. So I downgraded my hboot and s-offed my phone. Also flashed a new radio, but that didn't help either.
I am slowly beginning to think that it's a hardware issue. But today, ever since a year, my wifi turned on and I was connected for 10 minutes! Then I rebooted my phone to see if it would work again, but unfortunately it didn't.
I read something about flashing a new kernel to fix your wifi, could that do the trick?
Also I read a lot about doing clean rom installs to fix your wifi (so wipe all partitions etc), tried that, didn't work.
Info about my phone:
Android 4.2.2
CyanogenMod 10.1 -20130808 -unofficial-saga
kernel version: 3.0.84-g0263617
radio (baseband version): 20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_m
Hboot:
saga put ship s-off RL
hboot 6.98.1002
radio: 3822.10.08.04_m
I hope there are some things I have overlooked, because it would be so great if wifi could be fixed.
Thanks in advance!
flash the latest kernel by flinny, it should resolve the wifi issue,
Clean install is preferred when u change ROMS.

Just to clear things up. Do you mean the andromadus kernel? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2097379
edit:
I've flashed the andromadus kernel by kylon. Kernel version 3.0.101. Wifi still isn't working.
I can't find the kernel by flinny. Do you have a link?

So on the wifi stuff -- my phone seems to lose / forget all wifi passwords after a reboot, or when flashing a new ROM.
I know someone else mentioned seeing this -- any ideas on how to resolve it? Super annoying.

I have had the same problem with loosing the Wifi password since i have switched from stock to CM11. The sollution for me was to flash a new radio. After i have flashed the 1.15..... radio the problem was gone. I don't understand why, because now it's fine even after returning back to the original 1.11 radio.
Is the last nightly stabile?
Nigthly from 19.10.2014 Works fine for me. No issues yet.
I have problems with the cm updater since several nigthlies (around october 15 and all following nightlies). Can't read any changelog (not available). The updater never shows more than 3 files and crashes frequently.
Flashed kernel (boot.IMG) on nightly October 20, but problem remains. No other problems so far.
is the last nightly from 23 good?
I am on CM11 nightlies since February and I am updating every week. I really had VERY few problems, these guys do a great job. Since two or three months ALL CM11 nightlies are "good"
Hi!
I've been using ViperOneS for a long time (works pefectly) and now I want to try CM 11. I have installed 1.35a radio and elementalx 6.4 kernel (hboot 2.15 / TWRP 2.6.3.0). Should I install other kernel or radio? Which ones are recommended for best stability?
anyone have test the lasts nightly?

I don't understand your repeated question about latest nightlies, if they are "good" etc. What do you want to know exactly? I why don' t you simply try? Make a nandroid backup before and you can easily step back in minutes.
Got a problem with another rom and anyone has helped me so far

NIGHT GUYS,
BEFORE MENTIONING MY PROBLEM, I'D LIKE TO CONGRATULATE YOU ALL FOR THIS FORUM. AFTER A WHILE OF CONCERNING, I'VE FINALLY DECIDED TO SIGN IN TOO, AS IT HASN'T BEEN THE FIRST AND THE LAST TIME YOU'VE HELPED ME A LOT.
THEN, IT'S BEEN A WEEK SINCE I INSTALLED CYANOGENMOD 10.2 VILLE ROM WITH ANDROID 4.3.1 IN MY HTC ONE S. IN GENERAL TERMS IT RUNS REALLY SMOTHLY, ALTHOUGH I ALSO MISS SENSE GESTURES. HOWEVER, I'VE FOUND KIND OF SEVERAL BUGS THOSE MADE ME DO RESEARCH FOR SOME HOURS TODAY, AND HAVEN'T EVEN SOLVED ANYTHING: WHEREAS IT USED TO LAUNCH HARD GAMES (LIKE GAMELOFT OR EA ONES), NOW IT STALLS WHEN LOADING OR JUST REBOOTS. BUT FAR FROM BEING THIS THE WORST COMPLAINT , I NOW FOUND THAT MI WIFI CONNECTIONS ARE MUCH SLOWER THAN BEFORE. IT BOTHERS ME BECAUSE INSTEAD OF ENJOYING 50Mb, JUST CAN REACH 7 OR 8. I KNOW SEVERAL CUSTOM ROMS MAKE TROUBLE WITH INTERNET CONNECTION, AND SO ABOUT THE POLEMIC ON CM11 FOR HTC ONE X, BUT AS MUCH AS I TRY, I JUST GET TO HAVE TO RESTORE A BACKUP.
I'D JUST LIKE YOU TO TELL ME YOUR OPINION, ADVICE, OR SIMPLY EVERYTHING YOU BELIEVE I COULD TRY. I'D REALLY THANK YOU FOR IT!!

I changed the cid now to supercid and installed the original htc stock rom and then i installed every update from htc.
Then i unlock the bootloader, installed trp 2.8.1 and cm-11-20141112-SNAPSHOT.
Now it seems to work...
Does USB OTG work?
Hi everyone.
First of all sorry for my english.
I flashed my One S with CyanogenMod 11-20150105-NIGHTLY-ville.
My question is: does USB OTG work with this kind of ROM?
I tried to plug a flash pen with otg cable and used ASTRO File Manager, but my phone doesn't recognize it. It's due to the rom or it's a "problem" due to hardware?

[Q] Problems Upgrading from CM10.1 to CM10.2, CM11, CM12

This phone has been in my drawer for a while and I had to break it out again last night. It runs like crap, play store it broken (all gapps is broken) and so I went to upgrade it since it haddnt seen the light of day for a while. When I try to flash any rom other then CM 10.1.# It doesnt work. On 10.2 the screen gets "weird" and on CM 11 or cm 12 it just doesnt boot and I have to reboot into recovery. I am able to get back into twrp and reinstall any 10.1.2 10.1.3 or 10.1.3rc2 and it boots and works. Am able to drag and drop files to the phone so I assume the "sd card" isnt messed up but then twrp (from with in CM10.1 says it cannot read it but I can see the files I dropped on it like the other CM images.)
I was wondering if anyone here would be so kind as to give me a step by step guide to what to do to upgrade this phone. Do I have to change the radio or anything and for the love of some god please please please do not just say "use the all in one kit" I do now know where it is or what it is Also please do not just say "Flash the RUU" I am looking for some specific steps if possible. I have googled and there doesnt seem to be a lot out there on this specific problem of upgrading from later CM to newer.
Thanks

I recently rooted my One S, installed Clockwork Recovery, and installed CyanogenMod 10.2-stable. Frankly, it's the best thing I've ever done to this phone. Everything is running great, EXCEPT for the data connection. I am on T-Mobile, and my cellular connection indicator constantly bounces around between no-H, H, H+, and 3G. It's not 'cycling', per se, meaning that it's not rotating in a consistent pattern or at a regular interval...but it's constantly changing modes and I'm always losing network connectivity when it does. It has made it virtually impossible to stream anything. I constantly receive 'network connection lost' messages. Strangely, voice conversations seem to work fine and flawlessely. Whatever the problem is, it seems to only affect data.
I'm looking for any guidance or help to point me in the right direction. Do I need to S-OFF the phone? Does that have anything to do with it? I'm somewhat suspect of the radio. Based on version numbers above...do I need to flash the radio? Anything else?
Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Radio 1.13 is the latest T-MOB radio. For upgrading to a newer radio version e.g. radio 1.20 you need to set your phone S-OFF first. For setting your phone S-OFF best use rumrunner.us . For using rumrunner you'll need a stock or sense based rom and your phone must be rooted and USB debugging must be enabled. Before changing the radio version and so on, you should backup your current android version with CWM and try another custom rom to check if the mobile data problem persists or is just rom related.
Thank you! This is all great information. I agree that it is an excellent idea to try another ROM, for the sake of comparison. My understanding is that discussions on xda developers are not supposed to recommend one ROM or another. Having said that, is there another ROM that you would recommend for the sake of comparison/testing? I'm not very familiar with all of the different custom ROMs out there, and I'd like (if possible) a recommendation for a good ROM to use to test the radio.
Thanks for the reply.

I actually use Candy5 a CM12 based Lollipop rom. For me it runs stable and it probably will be suitable for testing the mobile data connection.
