[Q] Browser Lag, anyone? - Note Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is anyone else getting lag & stuttering while browsing the web? For instance, goto TMobile website and click on a phone to get info, scrolling up/down is choppy? I'm curious if my edge is defective. Can anyone please confirm, thanks in advance.

When the page loads completely ,it's fine for me . I'm using Chrome/the Exynos Note Edge variant.
Cheers~

same
Hey i noticed the same thing.like its even hard to type at times. Love the phone. I wil probably send it back for a new one becausei love the concept. Everything is great but the glitchiness is frustrating. .

The note edge scored a blistering 353 in Sunspider JavaScript Test. Try using a different browser.

Puffin Browser has given me the best browser experience.

The stock browser works great on mine.

[Q] youtube quality

Is it me or does youtube quality sux with the tab? I even made the default play at hq ans it still sux. Is there another setting that I'm missing?
Have you downloaded the latest youtube app?
Over wifi and 3g, or both?
I use Youtube Mate and the quality is fairly good over wifi, if over 3G it sucks yeah, unless if I download the video in hight quality format.

i only use wifi (don't have a 3g plan). i've seen similar threads on this but some people say their youtube hd is great.
im have'n this same issue... over wifi aswell... youtube on my evo looks way better
I am having issues on youtube as well.. But not the app.
When I play youtube using either the browser or dolphin hd,
They both play fine but if I press the full screen on the flash video that is
Playing, it would play in full screen but very stuttery. When I do the same on my evo
4g, it plays the full screen video from the browser just fine. No stuttery.
Both connected to wifi btw.
Any ideas?
it looks better on the evo because the screen on the tab is much higher resolution

but is the stuttering videos on my tab caused by resolution difference as well?
I think the stuttering is more an issue of adobe's flash being resource hungry than anything. I see similar behavior when playing flash video on most netbooks/nettops, some older desktops and even some modern low spec laptops. Adobe flash is just horribly inefficient with resources.
Hopefully with gingerbread there will be more options.
Are you able to try playing it in the browser instead of via the youtube app?
i seems to get better video quality when i go to mobile web site. instead of using the app

Yes i had smooth 720p playback from the youtube mobile site until now as well. But suddenly it opens up the video player instead and now the quality is horrid. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?
Edit: it is still working in the stock browser and xscope, just not in miren.
seriously!
Are you guys totally blind?!...Or hired by samsung/google to cover up this flaw?
Yes, I'm talking to the people that actually can't see the problem.
We are missing out bigtime on video quality as long as this doesn't get sorted. And no living soul wants to be forced over to the stock browser for anything.
Follow 3-step procedure to get enlightened:
1. Go to youtube.com with the stock browser(yes, the stock browser sucks, but it illustrates the problem). You will be directed to a mobile youtube site, search for "720p" or something and find a nice hd video, now play it and watch it for a little while. You will see that it looks great! And it shows that the tab has some nice potential.
2. Open your youtube app(old or new version, problem affects both). Find the exact same video and start playing. Even make sure that you have the high quality setting on.
3. Compare!
Now you should come to this conclusion: stock browser actually wins and youtube app loses
If you can't see the difference you really really need to get glasses. Watching youtube using the stock browser is crispy clear, and the youtube app makes the screen look frosted in comparison.
My theory:
The youtube app is not made for such a high resolution screen just yet. While the stock browser is.It totally sucks and should be fixed asap!
It really truly looks 100% identical to me. Watched Star Trek 720p trailer from stock browser and youtube app. Look the same. Tmobile.

Are you 100% sure? Because it's a major difference on my tab. And I've tried countless videos. I can spot the difference from 2 meters away even
And yes, I'm on a wifi connection (don't really know if 3G is worse)
Unbranded euro tab running JJ3 by the way

Before reading your thread I did the same experiment
Extremely disappointing... One more reason for me to be disappointed by the Tab...
Hopefully gingerbread will solve this
No offence intended to anyone, but if you cant notice the difference its because you dont have attention to detail, or an eye for quality, i cant stand watching stuff in the youtube app, it looks perfect in portrait mode with high quality, problem is its strecthing that resolution across landscape, if someone can some how edit the resolution of the video its downloading that could fix the problem, easier said that done i suppose
I just use jet video, download it and watch it in 720 :/

Chrome browser hanging/crashing after 2.20 OTA

Title says it all. After installing the OTA, chrome browser hangs after about 30-60 seconds. Tabs can't switch and pages don't load. I have tried wiping the phone and the problem persists.
Go to app manager and clear the data and cache for chrome and see if that works if not try uninstalling the app and reinstall again from the play store

Already tried that. I even went into recovery and did a "clear storage" to reset my phone. Same thing, chrome not working.
Does the stock browser work okay? Just trying to narrow down the problem

That is really odd I am running a 2.23 based rom which is pretty much the same as the 2.20 release and I use chrome as my default browser and have no problems. If I think of something else I will post it up

Me too, no issues.
I am stock, and not rooted. I would like to hear from someone else in the same boat. I can't imagine it's just me.
I have the same issue. Sites won't refresh, it will just get stuck at about 20% progress. Opening a new tab doesn't work because it's a blank tab and won't even show my favorites. Lastly, it won't let me close a tab because it's stuck in full screen view rather then backing out to the preview tabs.....

I have always wondered why people like Chrome on Android. Chrome on Widows kicks ass, but on Android I find it lacking. The swiping to change tabs is about the only useful feature it has, but the touch zones at the edges of the screen are too narrow to make it unusable, at least with a TPU case. No reading mode, no full screen either. I also have Chrome installed out of curiosity, but am ready to dump it. The ability to transparently see the same tabs on the desktop and phone is just not enough of a benefit for me.
Chrome was rock solid on 1.85, but on 2.20 it freezes every time I open a second tab, requiring a soft reset.
Same issues as the rest of you all but my stock browser is freezing as well but that may have been due to my wifi
I just tried a fresh install of Chrome on my HOX with 2.2 OTA. Never had it installed before, so, there should be no oddities with old files.
I can confirm that when opening a 2nd tab and trying to go to a site, the browser hangs.
Personally, I use ICS browser. Much faster and sleeker than anything else out there, imo.

Same issues here. Haven't found any solution yet. I did find this though:
https://support.google.com/chrome/bin/static.py?hl=en&page=known_issues.cs
Under "Site display issues" > "Pages are blank, distorted, or flickering on my HTC..."
Their "workaround" doesn't work for me though. Looks like we might just have to wait for a system update...(if you're on stock that is)

Not sure what the issue is, but I dumped Chrome after being enamored with it. Felt like it was slower, using more battery, and constantly refreshing. Oh, and took up huge amount of resources. Switched back to Opera, playing with Firefox Beta. Much smoother.

I came to this board to see if anyone else was experiencing this! Yes, I am experiencing it too and it sucks, chrome is basically unusable. I have cleared the cache, data, uninstalled, etc.
Unfortunately, I am on stock rom/unrooted (just recently bought it and updated before checking the dev boards, whoops! hopefully some awesome dev figures out 2.20 soon). In the brief time I used 1.85, I did not experience this problem, maybe at&t f***ed it up. hopefully chromium gets an update, or better yet, bring on jelly bean, HTC!
The latest Sept 12 chrome update still does not fix this problem. Dolphin beta and stock browser working good.

Give more details please.
Or run, from the playstore:
"My device IDs", version 1.0
It will give
brand
s/n
IMEI
SIM ID
WIFI MAC
My friend had the same issue, it was lagging like hell and super slow. We were about to re-flash when I pinned down, that battery saving was enabled.

Scrolling Problems?

I just ordered an G920i which I will be getting tomorrow. Is it like the Galaxy S5 with lollipop when it comes to the scrolling? I absolutely hate it its hard to explain but example: Scrolling up and down through settings or a website, its not lag its when you scroll really fast it has a jumpy affect or effect where it will scroll the opposite direction. I've seen this on Several Galaxy S5's and the Note 4 when I help someone with there phone. Its annoying. It does not happen on other phones running lollipop except the Xperia Z2 I had.
Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I notice it everywhere on every Lollipop Samsung ive had in my hands. Not sure on the S6 though. I'd hope not that'll certainly be a deal breaker.
Running my g920i now, with Chrome.
Cannot see any lag. Not sure what you are talking about.

Pale Moon browser?

I've been playing with this one lately and it seems to work REALLY well.
Basically it's Firefox without all the garbage ......... and it's free !
I heard about it from a friend of mine and he was right on about it.

Anyone hre try it also ?

why not use Chrome Dev?
I wanted to try something that WASN'T tainted by Google.
They seem to be good at screwing up their O/S's everytime they bring out a new one.
This debloated version of Firefox seems to work really well and it's not Android.
It's nice to have options.
