[Q] is there a way to decrease capacitive buttons delay? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was wondering if anyone is aware of a way to decrease capacitive buttons delay on the opo? Having to wait so long to bring up recent app list or go to Google Now is simply not acceptable for me after coming from N5 where it was instant. I know I can use on screen buttons but I would like to stick using the capacitive ones but with decreased delay. I am running ART so xposed is not an option. I would also like to stay with stock luncher if possible. Please let me know guys, any help will be much appreciated! (BTW, I searched the forums and Google and found nothing, if it is somewhere out there I apologise in advance!)

What shortcut do you use to bring those things up? Long press? Have your tried double tap instead? I use double tap home for recent apps and it's delay isn't as much as long press home for recent apps

[Q] Double tap on home

Does anyone know how to set what double tap on home button should do?
It's not double tap its press and hold I have leedroid Rom and I can set it
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
No, i was referring to double tap. I would rather be able to use double tap rather than long press. Alternatively, a flash or some sore of audible, visual, or tactile notification when i have long pressed as opposed to short press would be sufficient.
But really, what I actually want is double tap, not long press.
Current mod available is
Recent apps become menu key
Tap on home is still the same
2 second press on home is recent apps
Thats it, nothing else.

There is tactile feedback for long press...it vibrates twice.
@smurf: There is only tactile feedback for that if you enable all tactile feedback, of which I wasn't really looking for. Unless you know of a way to enable only that tactile feedback.
@Bigden: I am familiar with current mods. I know that there is the ability on other phones, specificially motoblur phones, that allows you to change the settings somewhere to effect double tap on home. I wanted to know if a similar method has ever been used on sense.

[Q] How to assign hardware key in AOKP 4.2? and how to quick access google now?

This may be a stupid question. I just installed the AOKP 4.2 build 5.
I am wondering how to assign the hardware keys?
I want to use long press home to do voice search, recent button as menu key, and long press recent as recent apps.
Also I miss having swipe up in lock screen to access google now. is there any way to set it?
It looks like I have to enable navigation bar in order to have quick access to google now.
Please help.

disable menu button chrome?

Hi.
In a recent update to chrome there were three dots added to where the tabs button used to be, I find this very annoying and don't need it since the Note 3 already have a button for that next to the home button..
There simply is no reason for it to be there and was wondering if there is a way to disable it?
Also, a while back the refresh button was removed which also was a very bad move in my opinion, I'd much rather have that than this useless menu button.
Thank you in advance.

Google now swipe up not working in Android 6.0

Has anyone else run into this? When I swipe up from the home button anywhere on the device, the shortcut for google now isn't working. I've been seeing this happen since Dev Preview 3 and now in the official release.

If I'm not mistaken "On Tap" has replaced the swipe up motion on Android 6.0. So have to hold the home button

How can I get holding home to get me to google now anywhere?

That isn't an option anymore, you have to launch "On Tap" then you will notice the google logo you can touch that and it will take you to google now
Ron Amadeo pointed it out here: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015/10/android-6-0-marshmallow-thoroughly-reviewed/3/
One of the downsides to Google Now on Tap is that the opening gesture—long pressing the home screen—used to belong to Google Now. There's no way to quickly open Google Now from any screen anymore. You have to go to the home screen and swipe left. The gesture also once allowed you to have a third-party home screen and still easily access Google Now, but you can't do that anymore, either. One option is to disable Now on Tap completely, and then the old Google Now gesture will work.

I hate this new feature, I want "swipe up" back . I used before swipe up to lock phone and hibernate apps (greenify ). Now I need to use again button. So oldscool
Not sure if this is related but when I say "OK Google" from the home screen, Google Now appears instead of the voice input. Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks

And I'm hating every minute of it. I like to read the stories and open hidden apps from the google now and is annoying to do it that way. I guess that in their perfect universe everyone uses the google now launcher and it had no utility...
I'm glad I'm not the only one that hates it

It's also kinda wonky for me because I'm using Nova Launcher. I've compared by switching to the Google Now launcher and the long press home actions act differently. Sometimes on Nova it's smooth but on the home page, it just kinda freaks out and either gives you options or just goes directly to my Google Now cards. I also preferred that swipe up action, seemed easier and made more sense.
I also liked the swipe up gesture for Google Now. I wonder if custom ROM's that allow customization of the swipe up short cuts will still have it in their builds.

I can't get down with the swipe to the left for now and love Nova launcher. For a few minutes after setting it up I was going crazy trying to figure out why swipe up wasn't working.

Best option to long press or double tap to sleep

Hi guys. What do you think is the best option to lock the phone without using physical buttons?
Only renovate ice has a sort of rom control which allow to customize buttons. But that rom development being discontinued, i am searching for an alternative on pie as well
You can use Nova Launcher and easily set a gesture to activate screen lock. In my case, i have set double tap on homescreen to lock.
thank you, it is not the same exact way of locking screen just because you have to be into homescreen in order to do those gestures. Rom control let you lock while you are in apps.
By the way it is useful and better than nothing. Also, there is a an option that uses root to lock directly the screen instead of working around with a black screen and waiting for the system to lock it. Thank you very much!
I use softkey edge, you only have to swipe and press lock.
You can use badlock, one hand operation. There're a lot of options.
