Hi guys,
alright, I've an HTC One Mini M4, to root it i've unlocked the bootloader, installed a custom recovery (TWRP) and rooted using SuperSU by flashing the .zip archive from the recovery... after rooted i got some problems so i decided to return stock completely: on supersu settings i tapped Complete Unroot (or something like that) and i rebooted system, but supersu was still there! so i erased the supersu .zip archive from the storage using es file explorer, tapped on complete unroot and rebooted system, but supersu was still there, so i decided to wipe all the phone data by twrp recovery (including system) because i thought it was a good idea. i was wrong: now i've no os on my phone, i've just custom recovery (twrp) installed and *TAMPERED* and *UNLOCKED* bootloader... unfortunately i didn't backup anything before doing all this things. I also tried to download a ROM and flash it by adb using my pc, but adb doesn't recognize the phone, only HTC sync manager recognize that a phone is plugged...
so i ask you, how can i return factory system, factory recovery, and lock bootloader like it wasn't never unlocked?
Hope you can help me i'm desperate :crying:
PS: sorry for my english, but it isn't my native language.

Well, definitely ****ed up here. Take out the sd card, put it in another phone if possible, and download the stock Rom for your HTC on to the phone you put the sd card in(put the Rom in a place you know where it's at). Put the sd card back into the htc, and flash it through twrp.
@tylerleo you definitely ****ed up there.. M4 doesn't have ext sd card ?
Get rid of htc sync, re-install adb if need be, and adb push rom zip to phone. Failing that get an otg cable/drive. There are posts on this forum already regarding no os that will give you a detailed walkthrough

Thanks I finally got it what I had to do is go into rom manager. Then hit load rom from sd. check wipe data and system. I then had to go back and delete everything from the sd but the img file. Then load zip from sd. Followed other instructions from there. Worked great.
Thanks

um so you were having no issues with your phone but you wanted htc updates? you felt these updates would be better than a custom rom?
anyway are you following THIS GUIDE?
at what point do you need to use clockwork? maybe im reading this wrong but i think the guide you are using maybe the wrong guide
Hey guys new here. I've done a fair amount of searching and cant really find anything that describes my problem. Trying to root my AT&T HOX and failed to put CM10 on the drive before unlocking. Now I have TWRP up right now but when I go to mount and then mount USB storage my PC says that this drive needs to be formatted to work correctly. Honestly not sure what I should do here I tried using HASOON2000's all in one kit but couldn't find the data folder for it. So I started following Cursed4Eva's video tutorial. I have already went to HTC Dev and unlocked it. When I'm in the bootloader menu it says "unlocked" "tampered". Basically Im kinda stuck right now as to what I can do to get CM10 on the one x's drive. Sorry for the super noob questions. Thanks in advance!
Okay so I formatted my drive. I'm able to get into TWRP and Bootloader screen, I get stuck in an infinite loop of the HTC screen with a disclaimer on it if I try to turn my phone on normally. Not sure where to go from here. Do I need to put CM10 in a specific folder and then "install" it from TWRP? Really sorry for the newb questions but I thought that I could handle this and apparently I cant.
Inside of TWRP, there should be a Mount menu button that will allow you to mount your phone to your computer. Simply drop the ROM zip anywhere in that directory, unmount the phone, and choose the Install option on TWRP. Select the ROM zip file and see what happens. If you get errors of "unable to mount drive" or the like, you may have to reflash the factory RUU and start over. Did that my first time trying to flash, it's a little sucky.
You can also do this from the fast boot bootloader menu with adp push.
Well I forgot upload boot.img can I just do that right now and "install" it? Will it just install CM10 and I should be good from there? Not sure what the adb push is. I have a folder with the documents, boot.img, adb, adbwinapi.dll, and fastboot.
Okay update I got CWM-SuperSU-v0.96.zip installed so I have root access. I also have TWRP installed. I dont think that I have a Kernal on my phone or if it is then its not working correctly. In my bootloader screen it says **tampared** and **unlocked**
I might need to reflash the factory RUU (I assume Factory ROM?) and try again I guess.
You should just be able to select the entire zip and install that through TWRP. I've been told that if your hboot version is 1.14, you might have to fastboot the boot.img separately. The ROM/Kernel set I used both took care of that for me via Aroma installer, but it's something to keep in mind.
Well Im far to newb for this so I will try to put my phone back to RUU and try again another day! After doing more research I found some people say that TWRP 2.3 doesnt work for the AT&T 2.20 and that you have to use 2.2 TWRP. Can anyone confirm this? Also learned quite a bit from this failed attempt. Please tell me if Im correct, Need to unlock the phone with HTCDev, upload the boot.img via fastboot, install TWRP, mount the "sdcard" flash the rest of the rom? Does this sound correct?
I'm on 2.2 using twrp 2.3.1.0. From what I've read, different roms tend to recommend different recovery apps/versions.
As for the ordering of the install process, I would install the recovery first thing after rooting because you'll need that to flash superuser. A lot of installers will actually use superuser during the installation, so you'll want to make sure that's squared away first.

So you just load the rom after you have your phone unlocked and the recovery app (TWRP) and SuperSU installed?
I really appreciate the help! Thank you!
Sounds like you got it, hope everything goes well. Good luck!

You can mount your storage as mass storage with twrp.
Your PC will find your phone like a normal mass storage device.

This rooting crap used to be easier man, I swear. I think I literally rooted my Evo through the web browser. Whatever...anyway, it just seemed a lot less riskier back then. I havent had an Android phone since then so I was happy to see my One S come in the mail. Right now though, I'm hoping I didn't waste my money. I'm gonna try to retrace my steps as explicitly as possible so someone can help me easier.
1. Unlocked the bootloader thru HTC Dev
2. Used this to root
3. Install recovery, TWRP.
4. Downloading CM10.2 ROM and Gapps to flash thru TWRP.
5. Cant mount sdCard. The mount screen in TWRP gives you 4 check box options, cant check 'mount sd'
5a. (Can boot phone as normal until now. Was on stock rooted rom with no problems but I hate sense and wanted to switch)
6. Wipe everything; data, cache, dalvik, sd.
7. Cant see SD Card at all now. No OS. Stuck on white HTC startup screen if I dont go to bootloader/recovery.
8. At this point I just tampered around with random solutions from threads I found on google, now I can see my SD card in TWRP file manager but its still not mountable (Even when I could check 'mount sd' windows doesnt see anything).
9. Tried relocking bootloader, running RUU, error code 155.
10. Right now, stuck with tampered unlocked bootloader, s-on, cant install rom because sd card wont mount and cant push ruu because it errors within 2 minutes. This was from last night, and I havent touched it today, and I wont touch it until someone who actually knows what they're doing can tell me whats up.
help
Hi,
I had a similar issue.. I followed a tutorial on YouTube and the guy forgot to mention that the ROM needs to be on the SD before rooting.
And my device was not reconised by my computer (win 7).
I messed around with a few recovery's.. turned out i was using a older version and after flashing about 3 recovery's my computer reconised my device when mounting SD card.
Hope this helps.

Okay First I don't whether you have an S3 version (VilleC2) or an S4 version (Ville).
Understand this, when you format SD card using TWRP recovery, you can't mount it. It is because only the Stock HTC recovery is able to format the SD correctly.
What you ought to do now is:
1. Download stock HTC recovery for your phone version, S3 or S4.
2. flash the recovery through Fastboot using the command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
3. Go to bootloader and select the option to erase Storage; if it's not there, then you will have to select Factory Reset, wiping your data and apps too.
Regards
Just use this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2471151
It will almost do all things for you, Unlock Bootloader, Flash recovery, Root ...
And remember, if abd console says "error: device not found" or when downloading and fail install "HTC MTP drivers" don't worry, it happened to me too.
Remember, you need flashed Recovery, to be able to Gain Root. And Unlocked Bootloader to flash Recovery.
Now I am back to original stock ROM, rooted.
Windows still not recognizing SD card after mount. it gives option to mount internal_sd, but folder that sd is located is called 'sdcard'? I flashed stock recovery, clear storage, then factory reset, then root, then flash twrp.
Even when I put a custom ROM and gapps on the sd through stock ROM, it bootloops after flash. It's like HTC really doesnt want me to appreciate anything other than their crap stock firmware.

Rooting the stock is not necessary flash a custom rom. Most roms that you flash are already rooted and root should be flashed in twrp if you just want a stock rooted rom
Flash the stock recovery, clear storage and factory reset. Then flash TWRP. If that doesn't boot for some reason you may need to flash the stock ruu.
If you chose to keep the stock firmware, you can download the superuser.apk from the playstore. When you run the app it will give you the option to reboot into TWRP to flash the root automatically.

Even after clear storage, factory reset and TWRP flash I still cannot see the SD card in Windows or install a custom rom without white HTC bootloop. Only way I can mount the SD card is on the stock rom.
Also, Win says SD card is 10GB. Does everything else really use up 6GB?

What CID do you have. Have you matched the RUU with the your CID. If the CID's don't match it will give you and error and not flash. If you are SuperCID you can flash any RUU but with a stock CID you need the RUU that matches it.

Is that CWM recovery a modified one that will work with the new firmware that you need for Maximus?
I don't keep up with all the new stuff, but the TWRP provided in the install of Maximus is special. If your CWM is "special" too, then ok.
Now the special TWRP provided with Maximus unfortunately doesn't move files from pc to the phone. I know that sucks.
If you knew all this and your sd card partition has really been corrupted then you will need to install stock recovery. Once that is installed you go into BOOTLOADER and select clear storage.
From there you will need to run an RUU to get back to stock. (so that you can move a ROM from pc to sd card ) then do the whole Maximus install all over again.
if you don't have an RUU that will work you can install the firmware http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2322755
This will bring you back to the old 2.15 hboot and older partitions so you can install the 2.15 roms to get a working phone to do what you want.
Alternatively, you could learn what adb push is and that will allow you to move files from pc to your phone on the "special" recovery.
