Verizon Black Friday - Verizon HTC One (M8)

So Verizon has a deal going on for all new phones other than what they have on special for $100 off. The HTC One M8 is $100 so after the deal it'll make it free basically with a 2 year contract. I am going to ask a Verizon rep either way but thought I'd ask here first to see if anyone's had any experience with their deals.
My contract is up Dec 6th, would they possibly still give me the same deal at that time?

Usually best buy has been having better deals on the m8 than verizon. A couple months ago I got mine online from best buy, I got the single plan unl talk & text & 2 gb's of data for $60 a month and they had the m8 for $49.99 which at that time verizon had the same plan special price but wanted $199.99 for the m8 so bb was $150 less on the phone.

The Vzw M8 is free on Amazon at the moment.

Price?

Well I have read numerous sources saying it will be 199.99 with 2 Year Contract.. Now I am seeing receipts for 149.99 with contract or 299.99 without contract. I truly want this phone and the 50$ wont stop me, but hey it is 50$ more dollars for apps and accessories. Does anyone know if they price was changed or if I should bring in a picture of the receipts to get a 50$ off or will I just end up paying 200$?
AT&T and Samsung posted on their twitter that it is $199 with a contract, and $350 without a contract.
I'm hoping it is $350, cause that's how much money i got for it! haha.
Yah, but how are people getting it for 300 or 150?
I have no idea. I haven't seen any receipts and such.

Now I'm jealous. I hope it is $300 but i'll settle for $350!
haha yah I mean, paying an extra 50 really won't stop me. But hey, thats 50$'s I can use on accessories etc
I guarantee that it's 349.99 without a contract and 199.99 with a 2 year contract.
The people that are getting 50 or 100 dollars off the prices of the phone is because of the AT&T upgrade advantage.

If the primary line on your account is over $100 then that line will be upgrade eligible every year.
I believe they have three ways of paying.
1. upgrade elligable its $199 with a 2 year contract and USE your elligability.
2. Not elligable for an upgrade its $350. with a 2 year extension on your contract but not using your future upgrade.
3. No contract $499.
I just called and thats what two local stores told me.
I was just told 500 off contract from an AT&T store.

Woa, that'd be completely new for att. I've never seen any signs or ads anywhere for previous phones that describe option 2, always just 1 or 3 (renew your contract or just no contract pricing - no inbetween). If I'm wrong, I apologise, but I haven't heard of that before.
I called a store from one of the recepits that people have posted, and they told me that there was no way some of the pricing, nor sales have happened. I was told $500 dollars from a store that was $300.
I was also told $199 from a store that sold one for $149 and that I was reading the receipt wrong and instead of the "samsung i897" like the receipt says, it was really a 3gs 32 gb phone. Basically, I was told that I am an idiot and it wasn't really that price.
what the hell is going on?
Now I'm just more mad than anxious.

I agree. This whole pricing war is becoming insane, not to mention differen't prices for different people is not right.

That makes a lot more sense. So I think that actually clears up everything. Stores don't sell them at different prices, you may just be eligible for an additional discount. But I will still call several places when it is out to try to pick it up for 150$
So since my phone line is $150 a month, but i just upgraded last month, I am able to get this phone for $350 or $500?
wait... I want to get this phone but no data plan... as an att customer already which pricing would fit me

Honestly, I don't think think you are eligible for any of the 50 or 100$ off. Now I still haven't quite found out why some stores are charging 350 or 500 so I would simply suggest calling around.

Well I don't think you can purchase the phone without a data plan. Maybe off contract, but if you want the 2 year agreement price, you HAVE to get a data plan. As for the 50 and 100$ off, you NEED a 2 year agreement and that means you NEED a data plan.

Amazon: $50 Gray HTC One X for upgrades on ANY family plan line

I thought this deal required its own thread. Amazon is selling the HTC One X in gray for $49.99 on ANY family plan line. Unlike the the Radio Shack deal which requires you to be the primary on the line, Amazon does NOT require that.
Here I was, with my $400 saved, thinking this phone was going to be $299 + $55 CA tax + $36 Activation fee... and I end up spending $50 total.
For that price, the Galaxy S3 is not even an afterthought.
Couple of questions -
1. If there are any problems with the phone, do I have to return it to AT&T, Amazon, or HTC?
2. What do I have to do to keep my unlimited plan if I order on Amazon, just call AT&T afterwards?
1. I believe you have to return it to Amazon for the first 14 or 30 days. Afterward, I would assume AT&T.
2. I also have an unlimited plan. The process is as follows:
Call AT&T and let them know you're going to be getting your phone through Amazon which requires a data plan change. If he's a knowledgeable rep, he will annotate your account and will tell you to call them as soon as you receive your equipment so they can revert you back to the unlimited plan. It took me 3 different reps, but the 3rd rep guaranteed me that he will annotate that in my account and verified with his supervisor that its possible to revert back without any issues.
Order through Amazon and choose any data plan, preferably the $30 dollar plan (cheapest one).
everyone i have talked to about ordering through amazon and keeping the unlimited data has said to order OVER THE PHONE. This ensures you keep your data plan instead of them saying "hey you selected this plan and are screwed"

Amazon has absolutely nothing to do with keeping your unlimited data plan. They don't have the power to do anything about that.
I too called Amazon first. And they simply said that's something AT&T will have to take care of.
the only thing that has me curious is about the exchange policy....i really hate getting a new phone and something being wrong with it. I returned my captivate 3 times, and my inspire 4g twice to finally get a "good" one.
Apparently through Amazonwireless, you can't exchange phones, only return it. So, if you get a good one, then you got a good deal.......but if you don't, then you are kinda screwed.
Hmm debating this... but I really wanted the white.
Anyone do a cancel with ATT on the pre-order? I checked my upgrade status and it says 2014 on the line. I would need to cancel... and see how quick they unlock the upgrade...

I cancelled my original Amazon preorder and preordered this gray version immediately afterwards without a problem. Not sure if ATT works the same.
at radioshak the guy said he will price match to online 49.99 so will i be able to get a white one there for that price ?
Worth a try but probably not. This whole thing started w/ radioshack selling the gray HOX for 49.99 on family plan's primary line, and Amazon price-matched radioshack. Hence only the gray HOX is 49.99 while the white remains 149.99.
Given that radioshack is the company that started the low price, I assume they have good reason driven by demand not to lower the cost of the white one.
Does anyone know what I need to do to get Radio shack to match the price on Amazon? I already have a pre order in place. Do I need to print out the AmazonWireless page or something? Thanks!
man.. I really REALLY hope this deal is on until the SGS3 announcement..

placed my order on the 26th of April for $150... I can cancel and re-order with the new price right? I chose grey both times anyway.

So, I want the One lol. I signed a contract with AT&T last year for my XL, does this mean I would get a early termination fee if I bought a One and stuck my sim in it?

Why would you want the one when HTC will release another phone in 5-8 months?Let's be smart here, 2 year contract right? 10 dollars is subtracted a month from Etf so 1 year is 120$ so around 200$ for etf and probably another 200 for the phone.400$ total plus tax.

Why would I need an unlocked one? It wouldn't work if I got one on craigslist or eBay that wasn't unlocked, for AT&T?
you would only pay an early term fee if you bought it from at&t. if you buy it anywhere else you won't.
if you buy one from craigslist or ebay you'll be fine.

Awh yeah. That's what I'm talking about. Now to find a cheap One...
I think paying etf and the phone price would be cheaper, you would be looking at maybe 440$( if the price above remains true, usually good smartphones start from 199$ and mabye more for the expanded memory on the phone)(32,64,etc)depending on the release price of the HTC one.And usually eBay is sketchy. You should look on amazon, alot more safe.no contract prices online are usually hiked up and you would be looking to pay 500$+
As someone who worked for AT&T wireless, mainly tech support, for three years, here is how the breakdown works. First, the contract does NOT mean you cannot use another phone. The whole point of a contract is to allow you to buy a phone a very low price. For example, the HTC One X+ is aorund $400-500 retail. But when you sign a two-year contract, you agree to stay with AT&T for two years, and in return you get a phone at a discounted price. That is ALL the contract is for. If you dropped the $400-500, then you will not sign a contract. The ETF start at $325, and decreases $10 every month. Yes, even in the 23rd month, you will still have to pay $60 to get out of contract.
Now to answer your other question, if you put your sim card into a new phone, it will not do anything wrong to your account. Just like if you put it into an iPhone, it does nothing, but allow you to use certain network features. Can't remember if the One has LTE, but if it does, then data should still work. If not, call AT&T and get re-provisioned for the regular smartphone data plan. Just wanted to clear it up for anyone who wanted to know.

Don't forget activation fees. When all is said and done (ETF, activation fee, subsidized price) it might just make more sense for the OP to just stay on contract, and buy from AT&T at the full retail (unsubsidized price), which they will do. Or like you said, Amazon is a good place to check to, as they often have some very competitive pricing.

And this is today!!!

are you really surprised though? they're already losing money at $199, now its just getting as many people on their networks / extending their contracts. They could give this away for free, but then that would set a precedent for all top-line android devices.
The sale has been going on for about a week now. I got price matched last week, thankfully.
This sale price isn't new for the Verizon variant. Too bad that there is no discount for off contract

They were giving it for free when it launched. $199 buy one get one free and $100 per line bill credit equals free for 2 new lines.
Add in the ISIS activation credit and they were actually paying you to take 2 new HTC One M8 phones out the door at Verizon. I took them up on it and promptly sold one of the new phones for $700 to cover my ETFs.

We have three lines. One for me, my wife, and transferring upgrades.
So, I transferred the upgrade from my unlimited line to my dumb phone line and bought my wife an S5. It's been a few weeks, and I noticed my unlimited line is still eligible for an upgrade. So I transfer the upgrade to the dumb phone line, and order myself the M8 for $99.
Did I just unlock unlimited discounted upgrades?

HTC One M8 at Amazon Wireless - $100 w/contract

Hey everyone - not sure if this is well-known or not (or if this type of thread is appropriate in this section), but Amazon wireless is selling the HTC One M8 (both colors) for Verizon for both new lines and eligible upgrades for $100 with a new contract.
This was a surprise to me (it was $200 direct from VZW) - and their customer service was fantastic. I couldn't find a next day shipping option on the page, but I ended up chatting with their customer care, and they connected me (via phone) to their wireless team, and they intercepted my order and upgrade me to one-day shipping at no charge. (I am a prime member so that may have helped).
Just thought I would share...

Got it...
It was my first experience ordering a phone from Amazon. My last couple of phones have been purchased at the VZW stores on launch day (Galaxy Nexus and then the Note 2). I guess it "pays" to wait a couple months before buying!
Just recently vzw had a deal where you got $100 off any smartphone costing $199 or more, so I got my M8 through Verizon directly for $99. Not sure if that's still going on or not. Either way, Amazon is pretty much a better deal for almost any purchase you make, haha. Phone or not
