Manual system update instructions (taken from HTC website):
If you are outside of Sprint/Wi-Fi coverage, or the update is not found, you may perform a manual system update. This process requires that you download and install HTC Sync Manager first in order to get the proper drivers. If you do not have HTC Sync Manager installed already, you may download the software from http://www.htc.com/www/software/htc-sync-manager/ .
WARNING: Performing the system update manually will delete all information from the device. Ensure all information is backed up before proceeding. See the Help & How To section of this website for more information on backing up your device contents.
Performing the ROM Update:
1. Download and save the HTC One™ for Sprint ROM update to your PC.
2. Connect your device to your PC via the supplied USB cable.
3. If the device is not recognized by the PC, ensure you have HTC Sync Manager installed and then disconnect and reconnect the device from the USB cable.
4. Once the device is properly recognized on the PC, locate the HTC One™ for Sprint ROM Update that you downloaded. Double-click on the file to launch the system update wizard.
5. Follow all of the system update wizard instructions shown on your PC.
6. Once the update is complete, click Finish in the Wizard and the device will reboot.
7. Once the device reboots, the initial setup wizard will appear.
8. Once the initial setup process is complete, the device is ready for use.
Note : If the ROM update wizard fails to recognize the device, close the wizard and then follow the steps below:
· From a powered off state, hold VOLUME DOWN while powering on the device.
· Use the volume buttons to scroll to FASTBOOT and then press the POWER button to select it.
· Connect the device to the PC while in this state and attempt the ROM update again.
To exit FASTBOOT manually, use the volume keys to navigate to REBOOT and press the POWER button to select it.

-it will scan your ext_sd card, then ask if you want to start the update
-press volume up & let it do it's thing...
Flash Firmware via fastboot, no ext sd card needed....
-rename firmware to firmware.zip
-copy firmware.zip to your sdk folder
-boot into bootloader

good question, according to this thread the Sprint version does not show the model...it appears Sprint is the only US carrier using the E8

well I know @briankariu was able to get s-off, maybe he can elaborate what he did, more specifically what hboot & OS he was on at the time...I know you need to be pretty much stock + rooted....what I usually tell ppl to do is, from a pure stock ROM, unlock, flash twrp, then the supersu zip....that should be enough for the s-off tool
the sprint E8 is almost identical to the sprint M8

S-off is only possible using sunshine. Found here

@briankariu may still have a previous backup, but you wont be able to downgrade your firmware, so not sure downgrading OS only will do it for you
I see there's a new sunshine version, 2.7...https://twitter.com/TeamAndIRC/status/539619420830564352
or maybe you'll have to wait for 3.0...https://twitter.com/TeamAndIRC/status/539515938471555072

[HOW-TO] Upgrade matching Radio for new ROM base

Please use this new guide to flash a new radio
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1684477
We are glad we have our unlocked devices and can happily flash Custom ROM`s, backup and restore nandroids or flash mods. Nevertheless there are still some restrictions, since we still have no S-Off. This week the latest 1.78 OTA update arrived and devs are working hard to upgrade their ROM`s to the new One S ROM base.
BUT...
assuming you already use a Custom ROM and you want to flash latest stuff, in any of these ROM`s built on latest base you will still use your old Radio, which was shipped initially. Since 1.78 OTA brought a new Radio (baseband), with S-Off it would be painless to flash it via fastboot or recovery, but we still aren`t there.
BUT...
there is a way to use latest ROM base with latest Radio. You just need to be willing to go that extra route.
What`s the benefit of upgrading a Radio?
The baseband is responsible for:
Signal quality
WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity
GPS / aGPS
Can improve battery due to improved signal quality
Can even improve camera
and more...
Who needs this?
Everyone who flashed first Custom Rom BEFORE OTA 1.78 arrived and wants to enjoy latest Baseband. Please check first, whether OTA for your region / provider is already available.
This is how you can upgrade your RADIO without S-Off
Step 1:
Make an nandroid in recovery
Step 2:
Download my stock 1.53 nandroid (maybe someone can upload to a faster mirror), unzip it and copy the folder in sdcard/clockworkmod/backup folder
http://minus.com/mquC9WDG6/4
Dropbox mirror - thx @ angelsanges
https://www.dropbox.com/s/av1w0aip9a...3_original.rar
Step 3:
Restore my Stock153Clean.zip nandroid in recovery
Step 4:
Download my fastboot folder (in case you haven`t installed SDK) and copy stock recovery image and clockwork recovery image in the unpacked fastboot folder
Fastboot folder: http://minus.com/mIA3OFkYq/3
Stock recovery: http://minus.com/mIA3OFkYq/18
Clockwork Recovery (or use another CWM version, whatever you prefer): http://minus.com/mIA3OFkYq/4
Step 5:
Boot in Bootloader (with adb reboot bootloader or Power and Vol. down) and connect your device. Navigate in cmd to your fastboot folder and flash stock recovery with:
fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed.img
Step 6:
Reboot and check for system updates in settings info (that can last a while, sometimes you need to try several times), download and install when prompted. Wait a few minutes for your device to install the update and reboot.
Step 7:
Boot in Bootloader and connect your device. Navigate in cmd to your fastboot folder and flash Clockwork recovery with:
fastboot flash recovery r2-modaco-recovery-clockwork-touch-ville.img
Step 8:
Restore your own nandroid (which does not backup and restore radio images) and now you have upgraded your Radio
Screenshot from my device running Virtuous ROM with latest Radio from 1.78 OTA Update

Thanks

he_stheone64, I guess I am out of luck again and this won't work with CID T-MOB101?
any one got a mirror for the 1.53 nandroid ? got a estimated time of 5 hours left !!, also, couldnt i just use a 1.53 rom ?? its clean, untouched stock, from RUU, no root or nothing...
will i also get this update with vodafone UK CID ? VODAP100 i think it is
EDIT, The update isnt even available !! yet according to my provider it is !
i have stock ROM and stock recovery ! still no bloody update
nice, probably this will fix the umts<>hspa toggling problem i am experiencing ...
since the download of the nandroid backup takes hours i tried restoring my own backup of stock 1.53. only difference is root. the update was detected immediately after i rebooted from cwr. sadly the update process did not succeed. the progress bar stopped after ~25% and then i just got a red triangle with an exclamation mark in it. after 1-2 minutes the phone rebooted and it's still stock 1.53 with old radio. any ideas what could be missing?
i did revert to stock recovery and there was ~2gb of space left on /sdcard/
probably root?!
//edit: found the problem. i changed 3 lines in build.prop which gets patched in the update process ... removed changes (and unrooted) and now the update works.
link for the stock rom is very very slow

As fas a I now, T-Mobile hasn`t released an update yet, so in that case you still need to be patient.

As mentioned in the OP, check FIRST whether your provider already delivers an update. If you have a matching RUU for your device, you can flash back also with the RUU. This certainly requires some extra steps, but does the job.

Thanks. Well I flashed the genuine ROM 1.53 over the stock Tmobile bloatware ROM. The OTA will work anyways when Tmo releases it? Because I've read that OTA doesn't work if the system partition has been modified...

This is info I got from the guy who posted the OTA zip:
Need stock recovery to install. And you may loose root.
Root Keeper from market is said to work for keeping root. The "one click-tool" here in the development section can easily flash stock recovery for you. You can always re-flash CWM after update is installed.
And this is how you would install OTA zip file for sensation, guess it works the same way. You can give it a try, I can't since I don't have matching CID (the list of supported CIDs is in the OTA zip file in firmware.zip): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16862231&postcount=1

* How To Root, Update Firmware, & Flash A Custom ROM
By: Mkinney88 (UnKnown_ROMS)
--> Unlock your device
Step1. download and use this program to unlock your bootloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604677
Step2. SuperCID your phone so you can S-OFF and so you can also write the T-MOB010 CID if you are on a different carrier and want to run this ROM. You will need to be CID T-MOB010 if you want to run the firmware.zip Follow this to SuperCID http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26516911#post26516911
Step3. After you have sucessfully unlocked your bootloader and SuperCID you can either S-OFF your phone or Not, it is up to you. I would recommend you achieve S-OFF so you can flash radios, kernels, and boot.img's. Follow this to achieve S-OFF http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2155135
If everything went well you should be able to reboot into bootloader using the All In One Tool and in the top left your bootloader should say Unlocked, S-OFF, CID-1111111
--> Writing T-MOB010 CID
If you did everything right then your all set. Next you will want to run the fastboot command " fastboot oem writecid T-MOB010 " and reboot into bootloader again. Now in the top left it should say CID-T-MOB010. If you have made it this far you are doing great. Now we are going to run the firmware.zip package to ensure everything works without a problem.
--> Flashing the firmware.zip
Now if you are coming from STOCK OEM LOCKED T-MOBILE PHONE that already has Andorid 4.1.1 Jelly Bean on it then you do not need to do this step. You must be CID T-MOB010 to flash this or S-OFF CID 11111111
1. fastboot oem lock
2. fastboot erase cache
3. fastboot oem rebootRUU
4. fastboot flash zip firmware.zip, and you might get an error
5. fastboot flash zip firmware.zip again and it should pass and install a bunch of files should take about 2 minutes.
6. the phone does NOT reboot on its own so #7
7. fastboot reboot or fastboot reboot-bootloader
--> UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER AGAIN
Now we need to unlock the bootloader again so just do step 1 again but you will already have the Unlock_code.bin from the first time you unlocked you phone so no need to get another one from HTC but if for some funny reason it doesn't work you will need to just resubmit for a new one.
--> CUSTOM RECOVERY
After doing all the above steps you will need to install the custom recover. You will need to use TWRP 2.3.3 to insure no problems. Here is the link to download it http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/ville/openrecovery-twrp-2.3.3.0-ville.img after you download it go to the DIR where you have the HTC One S All-In-One Toolkit v3.5 extracted. example: C:\Users\yourusername\Downloads\One_S_All-In-One_Kit_v3.5\One_S_All-In-One_Kit_v3.5\Data\Recoveries and in the Recoveries folder rename the downloaded twrp2.3.3.img to TWRPS4.img and replace the one that is in the folder and then proceed to install the recovery.
--> Intermission
Your current phone status
Bootloader = Unlocked
S-OFF
HBOOT = 2.15
CID = T-MOB010
Custom Recovery = TWRP 2.3.3
You are now ready to flash any Jelly bean ROM / OR my ROM

I have received the jelly bean update from t-mobile this morning. This is only the OTA.zip pulled from my phone. I know it is Android 4.1.1 I am currently working on this as a flash-able rooted room but i figured i would upload the OTA.zip for everyone else. I am currently uploading now so it might be a few minutes before you can download it. I am uploading as of 1:40pm EST.

Thanks for working on this! This is exactly what I was hoping someone would do. I really don't want the hassle of re-locking, flashing stock recovery, etc. just to get the OTA.
I'm currently running CM 10.1 but I've always had some weird GPS issues with CM on my One S and miss the Sense camera quality.
I'm backing up everything now and happen to be free most of the evening tonight so if you get it assembled as a flash-able rooted ROM let me know and I'd be happy to try it and/or help test it.

I didn't have to re-lock my bootloader. I just changed my CID back to tmobile and ran a RUU. After the RUU and also the OTA update im still S-off and unlocked, it just flashed the stock android recovery back. FYI

Good to know in case I get impatient. Haven't taken the time to get S-off but I've been unlocked, rooted and custom recovery since about day 5 of owning my One S.
I'm at work for a few more hours so I figured I can be patient and hold off and be available to test flashing a ROM if you end up doing one because if that's an option I'm guessing a lot of people will go that route rather then doing the CID change, RUU and wait for the OTA to download and install.
I've got a fresh titanium backup and nandroid done so I'll wait patiently to see where you go with this.

I will hopefully have a rooted deodexed and odexed version of this tonight unless i run into a problem. If I don't run into any problems expect a ROM around 10:30pm EST. It will only be rooted and stock I wont have anytime tonight to do modifications.
I am s-on, locked bootloader and on the ics version of the pacman rom....what steps do i need to take to flash the update?

Perfect. Exactly what I'm looking for. I'd like to try the stock experience again with JB just to see what it's like if nothing else. My usage habits have changed recently and JB stock may well be good enough for me. I really want the really good camera back just with buttery goodnewss and Google Now.

What ROM were you on? Curious as I would like to have stock jellybean (not rooted) on my One S.
I'm s-off and supercid. Just wondering what the steps would be if I wanted to try this.

This is a full update just flash stock recovery and then flash ota I think that should work. Please leave feedback and let us know.
So I'm guessing the are the steps.
1. Save update.zip to my sd
2. Flash stock recovery (I need to find this)
3. Boot into recovery (the stock recovery should
4. Stock recovery should flash the update
Do I need to change my CID back to T mobile? I've heard of bricks when flashing OTA with super cid.

Are you rooted now ? ...You should just flash stock recovery in fastboot, relock your bootloader, flash the latest RUU...then let the phone OTA ...Stock JB not rooted will be the result.

Yes - rooted now. I have Trickdroid 9.0. Would love stock JB for work. Using stock Galaxy Nexus now, as I need stock setup, no root for work.
I tried going to the dropbox link, but had the "too much traffic" message.
If I want, could I flash stock recovery, flash RUU, then do a system update to try to get the JB update?
Only thing that makes me nervous is the SuperCID. I'll look for a link to change back to TMOB CID. I'm guessing it's not too difficult.

[GUIDE] Unlocking Bootloader, Rooting, and Wiretrick-Free S-OFF for Beginners

Hi all..I'm here with a noob/newbie friendly all-in-one (AIO) guide for HTC Sensation/SensationXE/Sensation 4G. These 3 brothers are identical in looks and in hardware so everything in this guide is a cross-device applicable procedure. When i was a noob i also used this method of rooting and now that i am more experienced in the Senny messing around and am an admin for an FB group for Sensation owners, so i also have made this guide for them and most people have tried and tested this. So you need not worry.
But, as in all guides, the standard disclaimer applies.
WARNING:
Your warranty is now void! I am not responsible for what you do to your device, for your SD cards gone wild, you getting fired by your boss coz the alarm app failed, thermonuclear wars, your device running away from you, scared of being bricked, or your gf/wife breaking up/divorcing with you coz you got obsessed with your seny. You are going to perform these operations at your own risk, as i also did these steps at my own risk as well before making this guide, and nothing bad happened to me following these steps.
PREREQUISITES:
Must register and sign in to htcdev.com.
Download the HTC Sensation 4G all-in-one Toolkit from here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6reUIyJc-MRVUtpQ1l6cFk4eGc/edit?usp=sharing
(Optional, for those who rooted using CWM recovery.) Download 4Ext Recovery Updater.apk from here: http://4ext.net/ and place it on your SD card. For quick access, make a folder named APKs on your SD card and put all required APKs in it.
Backup all files on internal storage of your phone like contacts, messages as unlocking bootloader will factory reset your phone. Titanium Backup and similar programs are not recommended to use as this app requires root access, which we will be trying to obtain with this guide. backup your messages in message settings > backup, and your phonebook you can also backup locally in phonebook settings or you can sync them with your Gmail for auto retrieval after signing in back to your gmail.
Enable USB Debugging on your phone: Settings > Developer Options > tick USB Debugging.
Disable Fast Boot on your phone: Settings > Power/Battery > uncheck Fast Boot if you have it checked.
Take note of your phone’s Software version. If you haven’t updated your Sensation/XE/4G to ICS 4.0.3, then you should have an Hboot version of 1.18 and 1.17. Hboots 1.27 and 1.29 are on ICS 4.0.3 firmware.
Also take note whether you are S-ON or S-OFF. You can do so by booting into bootloader by pressing volume down while turning on your phone.
For S-ON devices with Gingerbread Hboot (1.17 and 1.18), you can skip the Unlocking Bootloader procedure and go over to Revolutionary.io to get your beta key and obtain S-OFF (If Revolutionary will ask you whether you want to flash recovery after obtaining S-OFF, select NO. You can flash 4ext recovery via the toolkit afterwards.
For S-OFF devices which are on Gingerbread, download this Universal Firmware from here: http://d-h.st/SuC. You will need to upgrade your firmware to 3.32/33 before you can flash any rom with a base higher than Gingerbread.
Part 1a: UNLOCKING THE BOOTLOADER (FOR S-ON USERS WHO ARE UPDATED TO ICS STOCK FIRMWARE)
NOTE:
Users who are on Gingerbread and are S-ON can skip UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER and just go over to revolutionary.io to get their beta key to obtain S-OFF then proceed to FLASH A RECOVERY on the toolkit. For those who are on GB and S-OFF by default, you can also skip this step and go on immediately to flash your recovery. (4Ext recommended).
Follow the steps on the toolkit in order, and obviously, install HTC Drivers via the toolkit before beginning any operation. This will ensure your phone will be detected by your computer.
It is not necessary to repeat the steps beginning from installing HTC drivers or anywhere. If you left off on a procedure, you can resume where you left off.

WARNING:
This method of rooting has been tried and tested! There are even YouTube video tutorials on how to use this toolkit and i have used this method as well back when i was still a noob looking for an easy and painless way of rooting. But whatever you do wrong I take no responsibility for bricked devices whatsoever. But I assure you that this is a noob proof way. Just follow the procedures and you should be rooted in less than 15 minutes if all goes well.
LET'S BEGIN!
Extract the Sensation 4G toolkit you downloaded. Place it on your desktop temporarily (but make a copy on your local disk.)
Open the toolkit. You should be greeted by this screen:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Follow the steps starting from the left box. As you can see, it says install HTC Drivers. You need it so that your PC will recognize your phone. Obviously, you need to Install HTC Drivers first (step 1).
After the installation, if you have already registered and logged on to your HTCDev account, proceed to get your Token ID in step 3. If you did things right, you should see a CMD screen like this:
As shown on the picture, highlight / mark the block of text following this format.
NOTE:
When copying your token ID, start with this line: <<<< Identifier Token Start >>>>
And end with this line: <<<<< Identifier Token End >>>>>
[*]After this, go to “Submit Token ID” on step 4 of the toolkit. You should see the submission screen and paste the token code you copied like this:
then click 'submit'.
[*]Then go to step 5 of the toolkit to finally unlock your bootloader.
[*]After you submit your Token ID, you should receive an email containing your unlock token bin file. Go to your email account associated with your HTCDev account then download the Unlock Token bin file and place it inside the Data folder of your toolkit.
[*]Now go back to your toolkit and finally hit step 5, unlock bootloader. This is very self-explanatory and the toolkit will guide you to the final process. When you click the Unlock bootloader, your device will light up and prompt you to confirm unlock of your bootloader. Select between YES and NO using the volume keys and press power to confirm.
[*]After you confirm unlock of your bootloader, your device will be on the set up screen. Set it up and afterwards, go to your settings again to enable USB Debugging and disable Fast Boot for the rooting process.

HOORAY! YOU HAVE UNLOCKED YOUR BOOTLOADER! TIME TO ROOT YOUR DEVICE!
PART 1b:
OBTAINING S-OFF VIA REVOLUTIONARY (FOR DEVICES CURRENTLY ON GINGERBREAD FIRMWARE AND IS S-ON WITH HBOOT 1.17-18):
Head over to revolutionary.io
Once you are at the portal, read through all the interesting stuff and scroll down to Downloads Section.
Now click on Download for Windows, Revolutionary Zip file will start downloading and a menu headed with “Beta Key” will appear, as in the picture:
Now select your operating system, device and HBOOT version. To know your HBOOT version, you must boot into bootloader by holding down volume down key while turning on your phone.
Once the download is complete, extract the zip file contents to a location on your PC of your choice. Make sure that all files are in the same folder.
Install HTC Drivers to your PC. Easiest way to obtain it is through the Sensation 4G all in one Toolkit. There is an option there to “install HTC Drivers.” You can also install HTC Sync and setup your device and then uninstall it without uninstalling the drivers.
After this, connect your phone to the computer, make sure USB debugging is ON (Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging.)
Now double click to execute Revolutionary on your computer. You should be able to see a terminal window that will be in process of identifying serial key of your device.
Once the serial key is displayed, copy and paste it in the Serial field on the form at Revolutionary.io.
Now click on Generate Key and paste this key at the relevant position in terminal. Better type it out to avoid errors or confusions.
Now sit back and relax while your phone gains S-OFF and an unlocked rewritable NAND.
After the process is complete, Revolutionary will ask you if you want to flash recovery. Answer it with NO as we are going to use 4ext and you can flash it via the Sensation toolkit.
.
HOORAY! NOW YOU ARE S-OFF! TIME TO FLASH A RECOVERY.
Part 2: FLASH A CUSTOM RECOVERY AND ROOT YOUR DEVICE:
Make sure your device is connected to PC and USB Debugging enabled. Also, on the Connection type when prompted, select ‘Charge Only’ mode.
On the Toolkit, go to the right box labeled Flash a recovery. Use 4Ext recovery. If this will fail to flash, use ‘Your Own Recovery’. If you did right, it should open up a windows explorer. Go and find your CWM.zip folder and select it. The toolkit will then flash the CWM Touch recovery. After flashing your recovery, your phone should boot up. Do not disconnect it from your pc yet. After it has settled down, on your toolkit, go to the Extras box on the bottom right and select Perm Root. Nothing special here. It will just push/send the superuser app to your phone’s SD card which we will be flashing later.
After the process is done, reboot your phone while holding the volume down button. If done correctly, when the phone turns back on, you should immediately be on a white screen like this:
•Take note of whether your phone is S-ON or OFF by default. It matters. You should see it on the top of your bootloader screen, like in the picture above.
On the bootloader menu, scroll using volume button up or down, confirm action (OK) using power. Navigate to RECOVERY and hit power. You should then be booted up to your 4Ext / CWM Recovery Touch. You should see a screen like this:
for 4Ext
for CWM recovery.
On that menu, select ‘Install zip (from SD card)’ then navigate your way and locate the superuser.zip we pushed earlier, then select it to flash it. After flashing, go back to your recovery main menu and select Reboot Phone or Reboot Now. Once your phone has booted and settled down, open your app drawer and look for Superuser app. If it’s there, then you are finally rooted!
Follow these steps if you flashed CWM and used it to flash Superuser (this is to change your recovery from CWM to 4Ext:
Now it’s time to change your recovery to 4Ext Recovery Touch. Locate your 4Ext Recovery Updater.apk on your SDcard and install it. Make sure you have an internet connection.
Open your app.
On the 4Ext Recovery Updater/Control screen, select ‘Online Install / Upgrade. It will then take you to the 4Ext.net and the 4Ext Recovery download. In some point, the app will tell you that it is detecting HTC Sensation . If it is correct, tap YES. Then it will take you to a list of versions for the 4Ext Recovery Touch. Of course, select the latest version available ( version 1.0.0.6 RC1). Once selected, download will begin immediately depending on your internet speed. Once it has downloaded the recovery, it will automatically flash it for you. No worries!
After flashing your new custom recovery, the app will ask you a question, “Is your device S-ON? Select Yes if unsure. If you are S-ON and you told the app that you are, it will automatically enable the 4Ext SmartFlash so when you install a custom rom, you won’t have to worry about flashing the kernel/boot image. It will do it for you like you were actually S-OFF.
You are now fully rooted and using the most awesome recovery for Sensation users. Take note, most custom roms require this as a recovery so do not change! And as a reminder, do a Nandroid Backup of your Stock/Current rom before trying out other roms. also, if you want to donate to the devs of this recovery, you may want to consider buying the full version of this app (4Ext Recovery Control) at the playstore. it has additional features, like the ability to flash boot image even when not connected to PC via ADB.
TO MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP:
1.Go to your recovery, select Backup / Restore > Backup (if you want to backup or restore if you want to restore a nandroid backup
REMINDER / RULE OF THUMB:
Before flashing any rom or restoring a backed up ROM, always perform full wipe to ensure a clean install/ restore. On your recovery, go to WIPE / FORMAT and select FORMAT ALL PARTITIONS EXCEPT SD CARD.

the official HTC Universal rumrunner package, downloadable from http://rumrunner.us/downloads-2/
the PG58IMG.zip file containing the 3.33 Universal firmware package (including HBOOT patched by revolutionary) downloadable from http://d-h.st/SuC
Preparation
Make sure HTC Sync is uninstalled on your PC. Install the HTC drivers that you downloaded before.
Disable all security such as antivirus and firewall (re-enable them after the operation), auto-shutdown or auto-hibernate modes on your PC.
Make sure no applications which have access to USB ports are installed on your PC, e.g. MyPhoneExplorer, ODIN, PDAnet, etc.
Unzip the rumrunner and, if needed, the temproot package.
Take the SIM card out of your phone. Backup all content of your SD card to your PC and then format your SD card to FAT32, or if you have a spare SD card, you can use it during the process to save you some time backing up the contents of the SD card you are currently using.
Enable USB debugging in the developer options of your device.
Disable the fast boot option (if you use a stock or Sense-based ROM) in the device options.
Deactivate the SIM PIN prompt.
Deactivate all kinds of password locks, such as FaceLock, unlock pattern etc.
Reboot your phone, connect it to your PC and set “charge only” as the connection type (for stock rom users).
Let’s go for S-OFF
If your phone is on STOCK ICS and ***LOCKED***, execute temp_root.bat from the extracted temproot folder. Your HTC Sensation will restart a few times and the Sense interface will not be shown anymore. Looks like a soft brick, but is not (don’t panic!). After some time, the tool will report temproot success.
If your phone is ***UNLOCKED***, this step must not be performed.
Execute soju.exe from the rumrunner folder. Confirm the security questions and let the tool operate. Your phone must be on standby/booted to your rom, as the tool will try to detect your current ROM. Do not, under any circumstances, move or even touch your phone!
Your phone may reboot a few times while the operation is on going. Don't panic. pay attention to when your phone reboots. If you finally see a black screen with the green HTC Logo during booting up, that means you are S-OFF and the tool is on the final phase of the operation. Wait patiently. After the rumrunner tool has completed the operation, you can now unplug your device.
OPTIONAL;
if you ever encounter problems, you can try flashing the universal firmware i provided in this guide to patch your Hboot version.
After S-OFF has been achieved successfully, move the downloaded PG58IMG.zip to the root directory of your SD card (that means, not into any folder!).
Boot into bootloader. When you’re asked if you want to flash the new firmware, confirm. After that, reboot your phone and delete the ZIP file from your SD card.
Congratulations! You have R/W permissions on all substantial partitions (including /radio, /splash1 etc.). You can now set the SuperCID or flash a new RADIO if you want. It is highly recommended to re-flash 4EXT recovery and to disable SmartFlash.

oh..sorry bro. i know i have violated xda rules as apps outside playstore are considered warez here. the only reason i posted that is because as i believe, you cannot update to the latest version of the recovery if you use the free version. but ok..i will revise the link.
EDIT: i searched at the playstore. the free version of 4ext is no longer there.
EDIT 2: found it on the 4Ext site.

just a sample..coz i had trouble looking for seny bootloader screens on google. will try to change that.: as i said on my note, this guide still needs to be updated as i will include guide for rumrunner S-OFF. we all know there is already an existing guide for it, but i felt the need to make one for Seny users as not so many know this yet and i want to share some side notes. thanks for the feedback.
Very well written guide, thanks al lot!
Nice guide. Thanks for giving me a lot of useful info on just a few printed pages.
Hey ichigo, I tried to use this guide on my friend's Sensation XE with HBOOT 1.29 and Locked. First of all, the all in one toolkit included is not working. I had to download it from another link. Then at the end when using rumrunner, I got an error saying that I have to upgrade my kernel to jb one. Now, I am in progress of downloading viper rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2531054). Will update if it works.

you need to use first the temproot bat.file and then use the rumrunner tool
some other user succeeded with ics kernel

Yes it is already.said that for ***LOCKED*** devices tempront is required. Somehow many are having trouble with doing the rumrunner on.stock and locked..i did mine on viperS5.1.0 so i never ran into.problems.
Edit: i didn't write that part in.rumrunner guide. That was written by a (former) fellow admin on my htc seny fb group. i had complete trust coz he was very knowlegeable. So.i never revised his part. If i knew this was gonna happen.i'd.have.suggested to unlock device first..sorry.bro.

no i am just telling that one user succeded using rumrunner in completely stock situation
that's why i post the link too
the only thing you have to do is run the temproot.bat file first
edit: no you didn't forget to mention temproot for locked devices
Yeah after flashing Viper rom, my device is s-off without hassle. Also, in the last step, why should one use the PG58IMG.zip?? The included zip is not working and I am using my device without flashing it..

Yes probably stock and unlocked still needs the temproot i suppose since executing the rumrunner requires you to be rooted. So temproot does that for us. Well thanks for the tips guys. I will do some minor revisions to.part 3. As i said earlier i didn't write that part based on my own experience.
EDIT: perhaps i should atleast include the step for doing the temproot correctly from the Joupunutbear thread.
EDIT 2: @sixline: you say that the toolkit on my drive didn't work? I will check on it when i get to my laptop at the office today. If it is indead a corrupted upload then i will reupload it.

Method 1 was discovered by a noob - Dav22. Dazweeja came up with a simple ADB command. Skygear for working it in Terminal Emulator
Method 2 was discovered by sieempi (Links at the bottom), STRING: NOT FOUND workaround found by jackmonter5
Big thanks to xplod4202. Risked his Sensation to see if Methd 2 was safe for us all.
And The simple guide : xl Viper lx : I am simply doing what i do best. getting you a noobproof guide and also simplifying the adb/terminal code
All of us will take credit for the collaborating and making of this thread to help everyone unlock with no cost. What???.....Yes thats right......We broke the FTSE index by providing free unlocks! lol
Also 9 people who voted no in the poll, ad voted before we found method 2 which unlocks every sensation
METHOD 1 - USE THIS FIRST
The SIM-Unlock code location for some sensation's (NOT ALL) has been found and confirmed to work for the few users who tested it. Use method 1 below to find your unlock code
(Method 1 ADB guide in post 2 if you don't want to use Terminal Emulator or you just want to use ADB)
Requirements:
-Rooted simlocked Sensation - Enable USB debugging in Settings > Application ->Development
-Terminal Emulator (Download free from the market) or click here to download and install into your phone
Your IMEI Number (Dial "*#06#" in phone keypad to get it)
GUIDE - Method 1
1. Download Terminal Emulator from the market if you havent already done so and Run it. This should bring you a blue screen. Full screen.
2. enter the command "SU".
3. Click allow when Super user pop up appears to give it root access. (If your keyboard disappears, keep hold of menu button to bring it back up)
4. enter the command "strings -n 8 /dev/block/mmcblk0p6"
5. This should give Output a bunch of numbers like in the screenshot! IF IT SAYS STRING: NOT FOUND MOVE TO POST 2 AND USE ADB!
6. The 8 digit number above your IMEI number is your unlock code. See post 2 on how to enter it.

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
IF it only brings you a date above your IMEI. Then the unlock code is not present in your device. Move to Method 2
GUIDE - Method 2 - USE IF METHOD 1 FAILED!
Revolutionary achieved radio S-OFF for Sensation (among other devices) which means you can practically do whatever you want with your phone (like actually owning it). This means it makes it vulnerable to all sorts of schemes including sim-unlock. The following method is quite efficient and easy to do and can be done with the need for a computer!
Requirements:
-Rooted simlocked Sensation!
-Clockwork Recovery or Revolutionary Recovery - NEEDED FOR NANDROID BACKUP
-Titanium Backup (Download from the market if you don't have it) - YOU ONLY NEED THIS IF YOU DONT WANT TO OR CAN'T NANDROID BACKUP
WARNING!!!
Backup all your settings/apps/sms/network/APN/Data etc.
Using this method to unlock will wipe your data and apps too! (Factory Resets in other words)
But it's this method that actually resets some other things including your sim-lock status.
Guide - Method 2
1. MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP USING RECOVERY - (Completely switch off your phone, Press Volume down + Power button to get into bootloader, Volume down to recovery then press power button to get into Recovery. Volume down to "Backup and Restore" in recovery. Press Power to backup and your done!
(Make a backup in Titanium backup if you don't want to or can't nandroid backup. Menu > BAtch >Backup systems data + Apps with data)
2. Download PG58DIAG for the Sensation HERE or FROM MULTIUPLOAD
3. Copy the PG58DIAG file into the Root folder of your SD card (The main Folder of your Memory Card)
4. Turn off your phone Fully and reboot into the Bootloader/HBOOT screen (see post 2 on how to get to bootloader screen)
5. Press Volume Down to Enter DIAG - Place the phone horizontally when it asks you too. (Flat)
6. Press power button to select "Clean S58 Data
7. Press power again to "clean S58 Data".
8. POW - your unlocked! Try a SIM card from a different provider!
9. Delete the file from your SD Card (Delete PG58DIAG) and REBOOT!!
Your phone Will set up for the first time, go through it all till you get to your home screen
10. Go back into recovery and restore nandroid backup. same method as step 1 above. but instead of backup, you use restore feature
(Use Titanium Backup to restore if you used it to backup instead of Nandroid backup)(Menu > Batch > Restore System Data + Apps with user data)
Now you’re free to go! Bear in mind, though, in certain circumstances you will lose your data connectivity or network signal. You’ll just need to check your APN, network type etc. and re-enter them; Just run the nandroid restore to get everything back
Thanks to Dav22. for discovery of method 1
Dazweeja for his simple Code to find the unlock
sieempi for Method 2.
Thanks to Team Revolutionary for PG58DIAG and S-off

[GUIDE][HUAWEI TAG-Lxx] P8 lite smart/GR3/Enjoy 5S Modding (unlock, root ecc...)

INFO
This device have different names in different countried (TAG-L01/L03/L13/L21/L22/L23 ecc..), but they are the same, everything writed in this post work on every TAG-Lxx device.
DISCLAIMER FOR ANDROID 6.0
A lot of people asked me to port android 6 or 7, so i answer once and for all:
I have alredy tryed but kernel needs some changes, the problem is that kernel source code they provided is simply incomplete! Compiled kernel without any mods don't boot at all
I've checked and i found that the first problem that cause this is missing/wrong lcd driver(this is the first but i think there are a lot of other driver missing)
So this are the options:
-fix it myself and add drivers from other device(already tried, risked to damage my device, i won't do anymore)
-ask huawei for correct source(i will try)
-find a way to bypass this changing android source(if kernel is not compatible by android, i can make android compatible with kernel), but its not easy
STOCK ROM
Single sim version(system dump of TAG-L01)
I can't find it on internet, so i have created a flashable zip that contains system and boot dumped from my device(using TAG-L22 offical one, because this is the only firmware i have found)
update.zip
if something goes wrong place it into your sdcard, reboot into recovery and flash it, your device is now fully working
-build: TAG-L01C212B123
-brand:TIM
-rooted:yes
this is my dump:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591000424961455
This zip contains boot recovery and system image of my device.
Dual sim version(offical TAG-L22, work on every dual sim variant)
official download link
UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER
Unlock bootloader is the same for all huawei devices:
-enable developer options(7 tap on build number)
-enable "oem unlock"
-go into http://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin.php?id=hwdownload and register an account
-select chinese language (is important, otherwise you can't access bootloader unlock page)
-click on the green lock and select first choice
-accept
-you are now into bootloader unlock page

-serial number can be found in settings/about phone/state
-IMEI have to be in the phone box
-product id can be found writing *#*#1357946#*#* in phone dialer
-solve captcha and click on the blue button
-you have bootloader unlock code
-MAKE A BACKUP, BECAUSE WHEN YOU UNLOCK YOUR DEVICE WILL BE FACTORY RESET
-put your indevice in bootloader mode(by using "adb reboot bootloader" or by volume up+power and selecting fastboot mode)
-type "fastboot oem unlock yourcode" (i suggest to write code letter by letter, copy-paste has not worker for me)
-type "fastboot oem get-bootinfo" and you have to see unlocked:yes
-type "fastboot reboot" to reboot into android
ROOT
recommender method(need an unlocked bootloader):
-Install twrp(look under for the link)
-download supersu
-reboot into recovery and flash it
phone can be rooted also without unlocking bootloader, but if something goes wrong to fix you need an unlocked bootloader, and i'm receveing a lot of report of people who have bricked, so i won't show how to do it anymore.
Restore huawei bootlogo(for branded devices)
Thanks a lot @ervius !
download
simply run logo_huawei.bat (or, if you are on linux read that and run all commands inside)
If SIM card is not recognised:
Sometimes, if you wipe data or change rom you will face this problem, fix is easy(but need root):
-go into / and delete nvdata folder(you will see a "read-only filesystem" message, ignore it)
-reboot(not soft reboot, normal reboot)

Good
Now you can also install xposed and other mods, i'm uploading a zip that fully re-stock this device, so if something goes wrong you can easily restore (some kind of "official firmware" but based on my dump, because official does not exist)
edit: ah ok, you have a TAG-L13, so probably with this firmware your sim wont work
what about tag l21

This guide will work and TWRP also, TAG-L01 and TAG-L21 are identical, the only problem is dual sim(so if i will succed compiling cyanogenmod, you probably can't use your sim)

Cyanogenmod would be wonderful! I have major push notification problems while on WiFi and would love to move away from EMUI. Would it work on different versions though (on any TAG-LXX)?

There is only a stock rom on internet and is android 5.0(for TAG-L22), so for now no 6.0
My goal is compiling cyanogenmod 13(whitch is based on android 6), but it will take a lot of time.

I'm absolutely new to this kind of things, but would it be theoretically possible to cook the huawei rom for the Honor 5X (also known as GR5) that is Android 6, adding the drivers of the official Android 5 huawei rom of the GR3 or TAG-L01 ?

Hang on boot and adb driver problem
Dear friends, I made a little mess and I need your help.
I followed the guide by mac12m99, but I did some mistakes. A little recap:
1) I became developer (7 taps on build) -> OK
2) I enabled ADB debug, OEM unlock -> OK
3) Connected the phone while OS was running and did "adb reboot bootloader" -> OK
the phone booted in "fastboot mode". Now I had a problem: I cannot connect the phone anymore: if I tried "adb devices" no device was found. I think this is a driver related problem (I use Win 7 64bit). I googled a lot, but I wasn't able to find a working driver to solve this issue.
And now I made my BIG mistake! Since I couldn't connect the phone correctly to unlock the bootloader, I tried Kingroot -> success. But I don't like Kingroot much, due to many permissions requested. So I switched Kingroot with superSU using a guide from another forum (sorry I cannot post links).
During the process superSU asked for upgrading and I did -> success, but... after reboot the phone hung on boot.
Panic! tried to factory reset it, but after boot still hung.
Now I don't know how to proceed.
So I need your help:
1) Where can I find the correct driver to connect Win7 64 bit to the phone in fastboot mode ?
2) How could I revive the phone ? I thought if I successfully connect the phone in fastboot mode, maybe I could unlock the bootloader and see if the boot proceeds.
Thank you for your help, and sorry form my English and my ignorance.

INFO
...
I can't find it on internet, so i have created a flashable zip that contains system and boot dumped from my device(using TAG-L22 offical one, because this is the only firmware i have found)
[ mediafire URL ]
if something goes wrong place it into your sdcard, reboot into recovery and flash it, your device is now fully working
-build: TAG-L01C212B123
-brand:TIM
-rooted:yes

Hang on boot and adb driver problem - update
OK I solved the first problem: it was a driver related problem as suspected. I succeeded to flash recovery and from there superSU, but after reboot still hang. So I need the stock image to revert the situation. I didn't understand well which image I should use: the first one from Mediafire (not available) or the second one: dumped from your device ? If I should use the second one: what is the procedure? Thank you

Did you unlocked the bootloader?(i guess yes, because twrp booted)
If yes, you have done a factory reset, so it needs 3-4 minutes to re-create cache and then will be working

They have blocked it
If waiting don't work, for now do this:
-go here
-search for gr3
-download firmware
-flash it using twrp
If you have a TAG-L01 SIM will not work, but device is usable.
If you use the second one you can only flash stock recovery, because system partition is refused by bootloader , but i think you can flash it using adb and twrp(an advanced method, i you want i can explain )

Since I'm using TAG-L01 TIM branded, I think I should use your dump. Please explain me how to do. Meanwhile I'm downloading your image.
What do you mean that the SIM won't work? I cannot use it as a telephone anymore???!!!
Thank you.

-boot into twrp
-place system.img in internal sdcard
-type this:
Code:
adb shell
dd of=/sdcard/system.img if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p22
-flash boot.img using the recovery method(install-install image ecc..)
-reboot and wait 3-4 minutes
But if my firmware wasn't deleted, you can restore by easily flash the zip

Because my firmware was deleted, i've linked to you the only "official firmware", that is for the TAG-L22, i've tested it on TAG-L01 and everything work but SIM not(this firmware is not branded), it means that using this will not work, but if you install another that work, SIM will work

Waited for about 15 min. but still hang.
In the file image "zt...G-L01_stock.gz", there is only 1 file "HUAWEI TAG-L01 stock" about 3.8Gb uncompressed. There is no "system.img " file.
I cannot restore a different ROM, I need to use the phone. Please could you send me the correct file? I sent you a private message with my direct contacts.
[SOLVED] hang at boot after Kingroot to superSU switch
After 2 days of test, and with the essential help of mac12m99 :highfive:,
I succeeded to revive my phone. It was necessary to flash the "update.zip" from the first post (but unavailable in the last days) and my phone was back, then I started again from scratch.
A suggestion: DO NOT try to switch from Kingroot to superSU using "superSUME", because you'll end in soft brick as I did.
If you gained root access through Kingroot and you want to switch to superSU, you should do the following:
1) Be sure that Kingroot is installed and working
2) Disable root from Kingroot itself, and uninstall Kingroot (you can do everything within Kingroot's options)
3) reboot in recovery (TWRP)
4) install superSU from TWRP
5) reboot: you are rooted again but with superSU and the phone is still working :good:
So, a big THANK YOU to mac12m99, for his precious help and patience and happy modding to everyone.
