I have the LG g3 on T-Mobile. Is the one plus one worth buying right now? I know the specs are almost similar, would there be an advantage?
In my opinion, no advantage, especially since aosp ROMs are now launching on the g3.

Why do you have until the end of the day? I would stick with the G3 if your contemplating swapping the two, it's most likely better built. Unless you want/ need another phone like the One. It's certainly a nice phone for a real good price.
The email said the invite is only available for 24hrs. But yeah the development thread for the G3 is on fire right now. It's tempting though.

I switched from the ATT lg g3 and I haven't looked back. I dunno if I had a bunk g3 or wht but I had touchscreen issues even without a screen protector. And yes there is more development now but no where near as much as the one has. Also the ATT lg g3 forum had lots of people that were rude (not all of them, don't get me wrong) and just not as helpful as people here.
Now IMO the G3 definitely had a better camera..
Both great phones but for me I love the one and I love the One forum

Messed a bit with a g3 yesterday. I'll be honest, my one plus feels a lot faster. I would get the one plus, if nothing else because the battery is a beast.

I have a HTC One already, but for some unexplainable reason I have this insane urge to buy the Nexus 5.
Have the money required to go out and.buy it but common sense is stopping me.
It's not for showing off reasons, on the contrary, people would criticize me for having 2 phones (even though I do love phones.)
My dad has the Nexus 5 and so I had the chance to play around with it a lot and I have to say, it's a great device.
Is having 2 phones just unnecessary or is it okay?
Also I don't have enough reasons to buy other than I do a fair amount of media consumption and I like to have a backup phone.

They're both great phones. I don't know why you would want to carry around both but it's your dollars. If all you're looking for is some stranger on the internet to tell you it's okay to have 2 phones...

It's OK to have 3 phones. Hell if you keep it up long enough you could start a phone museum in ten or so years. Although I'm sure there's folks who have a huge head start on that. It's your money so it's your call.

It is a major dilemma for me indeed...
I'd love to have an HTC One, but got the N5. Had the choice of going with the One but I just love the Nexus devices that I got the 5. I still have my N4 and still play around with it. You can have your One and N5 and switch them out depending on your mood when going out. Have the One for work and the N5 for going out or something

Honestly, having had both phones, it isn't much of an upgrade in my opinion. Plus, the HTC One is Sexy and doesn't look like cheap plastic build.
yeah, stick with HTC.
no point getting another similar phone.
What floats your boat
If one phone is for personal use and the other for business is definitely ok. If both are for personal use then it could be too much.
I was on the exact situation as you and I having actually gone through with the purchase, I say stick with the htc.
It's definitely a side grade.

Nexus 5 Stock 4.4.1 (AT&T)

Am I the only one sticking with a GSII still?
Moto G is a better backup phone
Why not get a N7 ? Cheaper than a N5, better battery life and as far as media consumption goes it's better tailored.
I can understand.... I have a Note 3 at the moment.. And ordered a Nexus 5 too with the intention of keeping both phones. Damn the urge.
I have an extra line just so I can keep my Nexus One as a second phone. I certainly don't need it, but I really like grabbing it on my way out instead of my N5 from time to time.

Once upon a time I asked if Sense 6 porting was possible, and was overall greeted with a big "no". Now, given that it was totally possible what with ports via Liberty, do any developers think a Vanilla Lollipop port may be possible for our hardware in the near future?

I wish I was a more seasoned dev so I could port it for you guys. When Paranoid Android does their rendition of L our device will hopefully still be supported by the PA maintainer here (he said he'd still support the device after he upgraded) so that'll be you guys' best bet. That will probably be a while though so I'd just get comfy on KitKat until then.
Scozzar said:
I considered the N5 for a while, but the only thing holding me back is the price. My parents won't pay 300 for a phone, which I understand, so I have to pay for it myself. The problem with that is I get paid every other week, and it's not a whole lot ($150 every two weeks. It's an on-campus job). I could save 2 entire paychecks and buy one, OR I could get a similar experience with the Moto X which is 50 which is something I could pay for. Every flagship phone has there pros and cons.
Another issue I am having is the development. I've been flashing since 2012 and I really like the flexibility it brings. Moving to a new device, M8, Galaxy S5, Moto X etc, the development is definitely not as strong. I despise Touchwiz, and the plastic construction Samsung uses. The M8 is really, REALLY nice, but AT&T charges 200 for it which is a ripoff since Verizon has the M8 for 30 dollars (i know what I said). The Moto X is my favorite because the bang for your buck (and near STOCK ANDROID ), but the battery, I've heard, isn't the greatest, along with the camera, and no external sd or removable battery. It's like the HOXL right now, but if I'm upgrading, I want more features.
TL;DR: If I had the money, I would buy the N5 in a heartbeat, but there is more to it than just buying a phone...

I thought about getting the M8 when it was $389 for a refurb unlocked. I was one click away but decided not to. I like the Moto X's design better & a couple issues with the Moto X should be resolved with L. Already at their Google+ community people are reporting up to 6 hours on screen time which is pretty damn good and will get better with L. The camera can also take some gorgeous shots -- if you're in a well lit area. The camera is inconsistent but hopefully Google's new camera APIs will alleviate some of that too.
I'm a college kid like you so I know exactly what empty pockets feels like. If I were you I'd save up and buy it outright refurbished if you're dead set on the M8...
You guys need to buy the OnePlus One, awesome phone. Specs are killer, dudes are getting 8 hours screen on time, plus all the other goodies.

The G3 does look nice spec wise and software, to a point, will probably still root and flash a custom recovery if available. I plan on purchasing a phone through Swappa, again, which is where I got my S4 on MDK so I could get rid of touchwiz. The Turbo looks great but idk seems a bit expensive to purchase used or outright. S4 has decent HW and with no more touchwiz is much more usable. I would recommend Swappa to anyone looking to purchase a used phone or off contract phone.

I'd recommend both the LG G3 and the Moto G. Both in your price range, but still high-end-ish, with plenty of ROMs, support, and modding here on XDA.

I'd wait. You've got a OnePlus One, and I can't imagine you (or anyone) being dissatisfied with its performance and requiring something that's "more". If you just want something new/different to play with, grab an LG G2; they're unbelievably cheap now, and still one hell of a phone. Or a 2013 Moto X, for when you don't want a big ol' slab flopping around in your pocket.

Hello, eefo.
XDA-Developers is a good place, to get help to buy a phone, but there's a famous thread, where there's a high chance, to get help from some members.
Here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/slow-motion-phones-device-how-to-imo-t2998500
EDIT: Nookie has already mentioned the thread... Sorry, haven't seen your post.
But what your phone you want, depends on your preferences.
Features
Screen Size
Design
Price
User Interface
Specifications
anything else
What are your preferences?
I got the V10 in today for review and did a quick unboxing and first look if anyone is interested. Let me know if you have specific questions about it or if there is something you think I should have in the full review.

Will the G4 battery fit in the v10?
Is it wireless charging ready? If not does it appear to have a set of pins on the back of the phone to connect to a potential coil in the battery cover?

I don't think it will. Looking at pictures of the G4 and V10 with their backs removed (comparing by relative sizes of the phones and their batteries), the G4 battery looks like it's smaller by width and thicker. The V10 battery looks a little wider, but thinner. Will be disappointing if this is the case since I have my G4 battery and cradle already... but I am betting that is the case.

Plus if you look at the left top corner of the V10 battery it has a small notch in it, where as the G4 does not and is flat across the top.

would love to.. but I won't be buying one. I'd have to sell previous phones to come up with the money... something I've never done (still have every phone I've ever used since 1998!).
been pestering LG to send us (Codefire) a phone or three.. but seems they only send devices out to youtubers.
maybe if enough people get their attention that could change... but it's not looking hopeful.

Help you get a device so you can hold root hostage until we help you get the money you desire? G4 all over again.
I retweeted.. I'm the opposite though. I bought my first high end device(G2) outright after the price dropped just a bit. I then sold it to afford to buy the G3 and then sold that tp buy the G4. That is now paid off and I'll be selling it to afford the V10. Then sell that to get the G5 and probably get the V whatever after that. I try to take extreme care of my devices so when it comes time for resale they are top notch plus I include the batteries and cases for that device too.
Any how I hope you guys are able to get one even if it's the way y'all did on the G4.. Y'all are about our only shot at root for Lg devices. I'm sure the Tmo version will have unlock and if we can just get the kdz and modify the boot and push it through to get twrp, we should be able to just flash su.. As for other variants???....

Lets keep it diplomatic.. No need for all that, especially when the device isn't even out yet. Plus don't you have root on the G4? Did you HAVE to pay. I didn't see anyone else getting us root.. The dude from Vietnam never even posted his method because it was the same way codefire obtained it. Yeah it took a while and everyone can speculate, but in the end we all got root and xposed.. So I'm happy..
