[FIX][Oversharpening][All Variants] Stock kernel with oversharpening fix. - AT&T LG G3

Many of you know exactly what "oversharpening" is... for those who not, just google "g3 oversharpening" or check this article.
After hours spent trying almost everything i finally managed to remove that. Check in the 2nd thread to see the difference.
Here you go... just flash the kernel in recovery but remember to make a backup of the boot partition before, just in case it will not works.
Remember... the only weird thing is that you have to turn off the screen and then on again to make it works. Just the 1st time after the boot.

tnx to @Tectas for the kernel source

I'll be giving this a run later. Want to elaborate on exactly what the issue was and the fix ?

I have down loaded and applied seems to work fine will run some more testing later... It does cause the phone to "hang" at the LG Splash screen for a few moments longer then normal. Just a heads up for other people that flash this.
:good:

I posted in the original G3 Development thread but also posting here to say, yes it does work. I was one who noticed and didn't like the effect. May be unnecessary for some but those who had complained about the sharpening will definitely appreciate this.

Check the commit on my source... If you cant understand i will explain better i can

YES!!! Thank you!!!
I applied this patch using another method. I grabbed my current boot.img, opened with a hex editor and replaced 16 occurrences of 39010000000004F2010040 with 39010000000004F2010000. Wrote the image back, rebooted and... Ahhh, no more halo, no more ghosts, no more fuzziness. Nothing but crystal clear text!

Can anyone verify this? Will this method work on the cm12 kernel?

I'm not sure I see a difference .. My eyes are probably just used to the display.

Can I use this on the cm12 rom? The sharpening really kills the device for me.

Shigga pls read the title of the thread

I'm pretty sure these kernels ate stock only ... Correct me if I'm wrong op
2SHAYNEZ

This definitely has gotten rid of the over-sharpening so excellent job in that respect. I've had two random hot boots so far since I flashed this and also noticed that the phone hangs at the LG boot screen for about 30 seconds before the LED starts cycling through the colors and the AT&T splash screen comes up after shutting off the phone. Any ideas on either?

Downgrading from the ota update to test this! I'll love the phone if this does indeed work.
And it works +1. I love you main.
Donation will be coming. You just made this nearly the perfect phone for me.

Waiting for cm12 support. Hopefully soon

I wonder if the last OTA fixed this. I honestly haven't noticed anything like the article showed.

Not even 5 minutes after posting this... I pulled up a website with a black background and white text... Saw this issue.

pulling up websites with a black text/white background and hitting the url bar was the easiest way to reproduce for me. This forced the background to go grey and every letter on the page would show the white halos from the oversharpening.

This is one of the bug with ICS rom, also vibration is toooo low, it's another bug.
There are going to be a lot of bugs, the rom is in a pre-alpha stage. He just released it so we can enjoy what work has been done and show that there is work being done. If the rom gets more functional with data/camera/ect.. I'm sure the bugs will start being worked out. But don't hope for any bugs to be worked out anytime soon

jt has opened an official thread on rootzwiki and it's specifically listed as a known issue.
hm.. can't seem to get wifi to work on mine. Posted in the other thread juanzr1 (Link to screenshot) shows a screenshot of his baseband showing V.EP4 whereas mine is V.ED1. Not sure if that has anything to do with it as I'm still relatively new. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Your version is way outdated. I don't why you have that, but I suggest you should Odin back to GB EP4, verify the version then flash the JT's latest rom. This should solve your Wifi issue.

If you look in the github, he implemented a "dirty hack" to enable vibration. Don't know if that has anything to do with it.

[Q] [FIXED] Camera sound Nexus 5 horrible after update 4.4.3

Hi there,
Recently i've updated my Nexus 5 to Android 4.4.3. (from stock 4.4.2 rooted)
Every time after updating to 4.4.3 my camera sound is horrible (like it's recording underwater).
I've used zip files (after wiping) to flash without any succes.
When i used my backup of 4.4.2 the problem was gone again. So the hardware isn't broken or anything.
Now i've sideloaded the official factory image (4.4.3) after a full wipe and still the problem exists.
How is this even possible? Is there any way to fix this?
Thanks for helping in advance
PS: i've contacted Google but their e-mail in bad translation didn't help me. They told me to do a factory reset lol

Thanks for your reply man! I really thought i screwed up my phone somehow without knowing it.
Do you know by any chance if there is a way to fix this? This topic was hard to google/search since I only got stuff about the previous camera bug. Or maybe my "tech English" isn't sufficient.
The issue is ongoing. We thought 4.4.3 was going to fix it but evidently not. There are no other real fixes

I never had this issue on previous android versions and I've had my Nexus shortly after the release. I honestly think this is a new bug but I could be wrong.
If there are no fixes I need a new phone or my money back.

The noise cancellation bug has been around since day 1, when I got my N5. Not everyone notices because it acts differently depending on the environment the videos are recording in. It also effects calls.
There's no fix right now. Try and get your money back if you like.

Yes, this is new bug, no discussion. I've made more than thousand vids with my N5 so I'm familiar with "old" sound bug, but this new one wich came with 4.4.3 is much worse than issue from previous one and make my Nexus completly useless as camera.. It sounds like underwater.

It's the same bug alright. I have no doubt. Perhaps it sounds different to you on your phone because they made it worse.
I can say with a strong degree of certainty that it is the same bug though, because the "old" bug you refer to was due to a poor noise cancellation issue. This bug went away for me when I fitted a slickwraps skin that covers my noise cancellation mic. ...and after upgrading to 4.4.3, I still don't have any issues whilst that secondary microphone is covered. My videos are as expected.

It's much worse that it was.. As I said, my Nexus is now useless as digital camera.. Or it was useless, because I've flashed 4.4.2 again.

So this bug is there since the beginning? How is it possible that multiple users experience the same problem after updating to 4.4.3?
I think it's a similar bug, but new.
Going to flash 4.4.2 again cause I need my camera.
I've sent another email to Google. I'll put the reply here.

I am a music producer. I always use my phone to film my latest creations to send them to friends via whatsapp. Never had any issues. First was good, now it's absolutely useless. I film exactly from the same spot in my studio. There should be a way around to get the sound back from 4.4.2 right? Some custom rom or whatever?

jcase has already stated that 3.0 is not intended to support Moto phones. I think it's for the HTC phones only. Not to say the Moto phones may unintentionally benefit from the update, nor that there isn't a "version 4.0" coming later on, so I agree with you on waiting to take any updates whatsoever. Please do post all over every Turbo forum thread if 3.0 works when it's released. I mean, borderline spam the entire forum to let people know, lol.
I was planning to wait to get the phone until an exploit is found, but with updates coming out-of-the-box it may not be long before the stock of phones at 21.21.12 are gone and stores start stocking the phone with 21.21.15 already installed, so I'll be getting a 64 GB tomorrow afternoon.
I find it very odd that there is no information online as far as what the .15 update affects (supposedly not the VoLTE update).

I rocked .12 for the first 8 hours, then finally updated to .15 - right after updating to .15 a number of updates not available previously in Play became available for the Camera app, looked to be darn near every Verizon app, and a few other tid-bits... only thing of real note was the Motorola Camera app getting an update that didn't exist prior.
The camera also showed better performance with the update, especially in the neighborhood of noise in shadows. As well, battery life seemed better, but that could be the phone getting a proper charge / battery level reading.
The 15 update fixed my IMS issues I was having. On 12 my IMS wouldn't register but on 15 it works flawlessly.

The main reason I need IMS is at Badger football games at camp Randall, the legacy spectrum is over saturated and won't allow me to send SMS without IMS. The LTE network can handle it however.

Post Lollipop issues

Hello
I updated from Kitkat yesterday to Lollipop and I'm having a few issues.
Any Google based application won't load. It'll sometimes show the little loading circle, but won't actually do anything. Or it'll just show a white screen.
(I have tried clearing the data and cache and uninstalled the updates for the Play Store to no avail).
Some stock applications won't update, (Notebook, Video Editor, Voice mate, Etc) They'll look like they're downloading their respective updates, but no progress will actually happen.
I waited around 10 or so minutes before giving up.
I'm not really sure what the issues are being caused by, and I haven't been to lucky in finding any fixes or even people with the same problems as me.
If someone can help me out, that would be great. Factory reset is my last resort.
I am on stock LG G2. D800.
Thanks in advance!

I had similar issues, I just rebooted a few times and that seemed to fix it.
I would say if it doesn't work after rebooting, you may need to FR.
Mine was having trouble updating(was getting errors) so I ended up going back to stock 4.4, updating to 20Y, factory resetting, then updating to 30, and I had that issue with the play store, but rebooting after that fixed it for me.

Thanks for your reply.
I sideloaded the Play Store and Play Services and just rebooted my phone, and the Play store is working somewhat. App updates don't seem to want to update.
I then downgraded from the sideloaded Playstore and Play Services, and the Playstore is still working, but it doesn't want to download the updated version of the Playstore, even though I get the notice of a new version being available. So now I'm not sure if I should wait for something to happen, or what.

Alright. Cool. I've done the whole thing up to the download mode part, and it won't install the drivers, though. Not sure what to do.

Is that just a matter of plugging the phone in?
Edit: I think I have it now.

I'm having the exact same issue. I also had an issue with notification sounds but that worked itself out with a few reboots.
I've read on other forums where users were having LED issues with non-native app notifications ...but my LED is not functioning at all since the update. If anyone has a suggestion, it would be greatly appreciated.
Any root methods for Lollipop stock ?
I have the same issue. Wondering if it's rom's problem.

I do know that the behavior of the notification led has changed. On Kitkat the led would blink about 1 per sec. With Lollipop it will blink twice then a 10 sec pause then 2 quick blinks, then 10 sec pause, etc. Also the notification led will only work with screen off or on lock screen. I hope this helps.
Edit: I did notice the pattern changes with
the app.

No brightness/volume control option in notification bar like it was in Kitkat?

Are you on Lollipop? I even did a factory reset, but the problem still there. I do have root on my phone though. Don't know if that causes the problem.

Lg V20 review/modding guide mid 2019

This is my review of the lg v20 in 2019. It has received positive feedback on Telegram and Reddit, so I decided to post it here as well. I'm going to try to keep updating this as I go with my current mods.
The article will hopefully be updated again next week addressing the current constructive criticism I have received.
Hope this helps someone out.
Updates 5/21/19
5/21/19
Clarified thermal test run in airplane mode

Complete new section regarding Model Variants Kernels
removed universal gms doze due to crashing android VM
removed WhatsApp extensions Xposed module due to issues
Added modded libraries comparison from imgur
clarified which libs my shots were with
Hi, nice post. Just what I was looking for as I am about to acquire a V20, a Korean version and I'm looking to mod it like my G5 with everything possible . First question - your article has a link to something to mod the secondary screen but the link is dead. Could you say what was the mod and is it still available?

That paid app, BoredSigns, has been discontinued and taken off the Play store since the developer no longer owns a V20. Its weather widget has been broken for a while, so don't expect that part to work. I have attached a screenshot of the developer's message on the Play store listing which you can only see if you already had the app installed earlier. You can still build the app yourself from its source on GitHub if interested.
I just bought a F800 model on ebay for very little which has a cracked screen and other minor problems. I'm not sure if it's F800 L or K or S yet and I won't know until I receive it. In any case I'm in europe and I'm hoping to do the works, root it, twrp it etc and maybe put a european software version on it. I'm not sure in what order I should go about this, would you have an opinion.? Should I root and twrp it first or should I kdz a different firmware first and then root it? As I write this I suppose it's logical to root it first, it couldn't make changing firmware version more difficult I suppose. Any thoughts appreciated. I'm totally new the phone so not sure what's possible.

I'm not familiar with the Korean variants, but I think this general thread on the F800 models should help you get started. The later pages in there will give you an idea of other users' recent activities.
Ok gonna have time to update my article next week.
What do you want me to talk about or clarified.
Thank you very much for this, it is very helpful to have it all together. In the light of this, I believe that it would be helpful if you advice people a bit about rooting, not the very basic, but what one need to be aware of, possible pitfalls in the process.
Partly because of your nice recommendations I have now rooted my V20 and installed most of your recommendations. Until now everything is fine
I tried the moded camera files but it renders the camera unsusable i have ro reflash the rom. Even if i flash back to stock files it dosent work.

I have nougat but i have other camera issues withouth these drivers my h915 converted to us996 deodexed nougat my right rear camera (when looking at the back of the phone ) is not working since the conversion. I want to try and flash back a h915 rom to see if its the camera config files that are the issue .

I just changed test settings from 15 min to 10. I left everything else as it is. (number of threads: 20)
It also surprised me, because I've had this phone for two whole years.
Made the test with airplane mode on. Maybe there's something wrong with the settings?
Also maybe it is because I am currently in a sort of cold room? (about 20°c)
Edit: Re-running test for 15 min. Moved to a slightly hotter area of the same room.
Re-edit: Changed thermal paste anyways. I'm going to check if it's better for me.
I have a new refrub and I got 85K. Defiantly let it run for over 10 minutes. I didn't see any red lines in the graph. I didn't play with any settings. I'm kinda disappointed which is ridiculous because I bought the paste in advance and I have a copper shim I was thinking of putting on it as well. I don't see any need to do it now so I'll leave it for the time being.
Are you guys looking at the max reading or the average? I got just shy of 100k when I was using the electrically conductive pad but average was still only in the 80s. The 2nd pic was the new one I replaced it with after I found out it was electrically conductive.

I still recommend the clang version of the kernel its still better than the other MK variants.
AKT Ghostpepper is now recommended get it here
Please donate to a new kernel https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/bounty-kernel-h990ds-stock-oreo-t3952667
Nothing else new for now, Stay Tuned.
