Running Codename Android, and as the title says, sometimes the media playback controls show up on my lock screen and sometimes they don't. I haven't been able to figure out what causes them to show up.
Apps: Google Play Music, BeyondPod
BeyondPod uses the stock controls of google play, or appears to. When playing podcasts, the lock screen controls are there about 80% of the time (so far). Is this a common issue? Is there any fix? Or alternatively, is there any free solution which puts universal media controls on the lock screen?
I have looked around and found widget locker, etc but I prefer not to use that.
So I have been using widget locker to create lock screen music controls on beans ROM. Its kinda wonky and caused issues with other apps.
I'm wondering if anyone uses other apps to get lock screen controls on TW based ROMs.

PowerAmp works great for lockscreen music controls..Now I wish that JB wouldn't have broken the skip feature of the headphones - now long pressing the middle button turns on voice search instead of skipping to the next song
Just got my nexus 5 yesterday and am loving it so far! Weird quirk with it is although I have enabled widgets in the Security Settings, the lock screen controls when I use Google Play Music don't appear on the lock screen. Sometimes it flashes for a second with the album art then disappears back to the regular clock. Is there some setting that I should check to make sure the music controls aren't being overridden? I have the lock screen set on slide to unlock, not sure what else I need to check. Any help would be appreciated Thanks!

Lockscreen music controls no longer show up for some reason. Tried playerpro, google music, and pandora.
Mine works correctly on slide lock. I was just admiring it earlier. Huge improvement
I have the same problem using mtv music app. It seems my nexus "forgets" it is playing music even while it's playing music in the background. Randomly the music controls in the notification bar disappears, and even with it the lockscreen controls. I think it is a kind of strange power saving bug in 4.4.. Maybe it is possible to raise the music players priority. Any ideas are appreciated

Edit: tested a little bit and it seems this bug only comes while streaming via Bluetooth. Had it with my bt headset and while streaming music at the dvr.
Maybe you can confirm that you discovered the bug while streaming via bluetooth, too.

Same issue here but not only for Bluetooth. My lockscreen is secured by a PIN because I encrypted my phone. Maybe this is the problem?!

I came across the same bug on my Nexus 4, too.
Tried the following: wiped cache, wiped play music data, fiddled around with lockscreen security settings. No luck.
Then, managed to fix it.
I had this one app, called JAYS Headset Control, that allowed to assign functions to headset button clicks. I simply uninstalled that **** and now s'all good.
So beautiful lockscreen with album art & all: https://db.tt/HfD6m3ds
Too bad I now have to re-download my 3GB music library, d'oh.
So if you have any similar apps, be aware that they might cause trouble. Ditch them.

I had Smart Key, uninstalled it got my album art back on lockscreen. But I want to use this app, is there any settings which will prevent this app to change lockscreen??

I had the same issue but when turned off the IDLE profile on Smartkey, music control and album art on the lock screen returned...
Is there any way to get lockscreen music controls that are always there? Everything I've tested only shows the music controls while I'm playing music or for a short amount of time afterwards.
I'm looking for an app or widget, not anything that requires root or an unlocked bootloader (such as a new rom).
Does anyone know how to keep the music album cover art from displaying when the screen is locked.
Without losing the play/pause and next buttons on the lock screen?
I really do not want a image popping up when I turn on my phone, that I have no control over.
So far I know Play music and Rhapsody both show the cover art when music is playing
spotify does not seem to download cover art, so it works

Spotify has downloaded cover art for me and does cover my lockscreen, in fact. The only work around i've found, I added a widget to my lockscreen (by enabling widgets on lockscreen, stock feature) and flipping to that app while I have music playing. That way I can switch back and forth when I want to skip track/pause.
I don't think we'll do exactly what we want here without switching ROMs.
Curious as to why you wouldn't want them to show? I thought this was a great addition.
Yeah I actually love the addition of showing the album artwork when music is playing. Doubletwist does it too, but randomly it'll I guess glitch out and then it won't show the controls or the artwork even though music is playing.
Anyone find a way to fix this problem?
