Question Regarding Roms and Features - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, after a while of browsing the forums i feel like i miss something on my oneplus, something other phones (atleast some) offer..and i just wanted to know if there are any custom roms that offer those features or if there is any port of those roms, like i've seen yunOS and iunia and so on
so i used a very stable cm12 build now jsut to see how L looks like and while i love it actually i'm more into a more basic and functional design ~

here for example that onehanded use and multiwindow feature ~
is there any like port of the nubia thingy or something like emotionui? ~
i found miui ports and yunOS, iunia and so on, why is it that there is no emotionui3 or nubia? ~ are those roms so.. unpopular?

[Q] Android port to the Pre 3

Hello everybody,
I was wondering something... If Android can be put on the touchpad, can it be also ported to the Pre 3 which is running WebOS too ?
Actually, I miss a GPS navigation app on WebOS like the one I used to have on my previous Android phone.
Thank you for your answers,
Simon.
It probably can (i think i heard somewhere that the bootloader was unlocked too, like the touchpad)
I have got HD2 since 20 months now, I am thinking about changing it to Pre3, because I like design of the phone, also WebOS looks sleek and decent, however I will miss android functionality. I would like to see Port similar to HD2 android then It would be PERFECT phone to me.
It would be nice to see ICS ported to the Pre 3. Since the Nexus Prime doesn't require hardware buttons it would share a similar layout as the Pre 3, same with the notification light.
In a dream world it would be nice to utilize the gesture area in the Pre 3 in Android as well.
What would be needed to start something like this? Create a bootloader? I'd imagine people would like to dual boot similar to the touchpad but idk if we would be able to use mboot on the Pre 3 as well as the TP.
Tim
I, too, an interested in this and will test anything when i have the time for any devs working on it
I was wondering this too. webOS is generally the same all around. I dont see why it couldnt. That would be awesome to have a phone that dual boots webOS and Android.
how about alien dalvik port, now that webos may live on.

Can someone give a review of Lineage 7x on the SM-P900

I like my Note Pro. I use the pen and have quite a few pen apps.
Can someone who uses the tablet give a quick review og how it works, what's great and what's not so great?
I'll then be better prepared to decide if I want to flash the ROM
I'm particularly interested in how the SPEN works and if it's any different to the stock rom. I know I'll be missing the Samsung apps. Just want to see if the pen works the same way in 3rd party apps.
How fast/Slow is the ROM?
Thanks
I JUST flashed my tablet yesterday with OS 14.1 on my P900. It really runs great. Still haven't most things but I made a nandroid backup of my stock rom in TWRP and I can flash back any time I want.
It's fast and so far stable.
Maybe I just got really used to stock-based ROMs, but I'm not a fan of how Lineage runs on the P900. I mean..It's stable...Everything I need works. I use Lineage on other devices, and pretty much all of my old devices have CM on them. I just can't explain why I don't like it on this.
(I am currently using it on this...Probably going on two months)
I've been using it for 1 month and it works quite well. All the features are great and the system runs really fast. The problem is that some of the old features (floating windows, specific software for s-pen and quick access) are not available in Lineage OS 14 for sm-p900... so I ended up missing some of them. I will try the Touchwiz adapted to sm-p900 (based on android 6.0 marshmallow) which is still an upgrade for what I had at the beginning... I'll tell you about this when I try it.
PD: I've been using CM-Spen Add-on as a substitute for SPen software, but it doesen't feel the same.

That review would be really good thank you.
I have a few questions if anyone knows....
I assume the Nougat Split screen works OK - I don't really use floating windows much
And palm rejection when using the stylus? Is that a hardware feature and still working OK?
Is the stylus lag more or less noticeable?
I'm using MS OneNote for it's syncing features, and it's really quite good these days. Does this work do you know?
Does the stylus need to be calibrated? Or does it match what you touch on the screen 100%
Is there a continuous dot on screen, when the stylus is very close to the screen or touching?
Is the battery drain better or worse than touchwiz?
Thank you

[REQUEST][9.0][Pixel Experience for Polaris]

Hey there fellow Polaris users!
As the development is pretty slow or nearly not existent for this device, I wanted to know, if there´s any devs out there that can make a working Android Pie Pixel Experience rom for our device?
I and I guess many others would be willing to donate for the effort. I`m using the Pie GSI for now that works pretty good, but there are some issues that need to be fixed.
bluetooth hands free - no sound from the cars speakers so it´s pretty much useless
Camera - I use the BSG Mod by now and many features are working fine and the picture quality is decent, but there´s no 4k video and no slow motion video. I can live without this for now, but if the device supports it, it would sure be nice if it would work
some more minor flaws that we could work out in the process of making this really happen
Would be really nice to see this happening. The base is already there so maybe this device specific issues can be adressed fairly easy. I´m no dev by the way, otherwise I´d do it myself. But I´m ready to support you in any way possible. Even if its with some money for a pizza and some cold drinks!
All the best

PE rom
Could you tell me how to find PE rom for Polaris,Please!
You can access slowmotion with Manual Camera DSLR app
Just use the PE GSI Rom with latest global dev baserom ? Bluetooth can be fixed if you change the config xml and there are no other bugs ?

Less custom ROMS nowadays?

I have always used custom roms since my Xperia X10. The current phone I am running is a Samsung S8 but I have had several Sony's and always there has been choice in roms. I especially used to like modified stock roms for Sony's. I am looking at a new phone and am interested in the Xperia 5 II. To my surprise there are no custom roms, but the phone hasn't been on the market for that long. So I decided to see what custom roms are available for the Xperia 1 II. By coincidence, today a version of LineageOS has been released for the 1 II but before yesterday there was nothing...Not even anything about rooting. Then I went on to look at what is available for the Galaxy S20 only to find there is relatively little to choose from compared to a few years ago for the then latest or previous flagship model. So what's happened? Is there just a lot less want for custom roms? Have other ways been found to reach the same goals? For me, one of the most important things is that I want Xprivacy Lua installed. Besides that the Xposed repo had some nice modules, for which EdXposed should be used now. Also, I liked choosing a rom with nice custom functionality added and all bull**** stripped. Are there any ways to achieve these things? Or am I simply not able to find the information because of the new board?

Lack of device trees for the new devices.
Developers have to own the device to create them.
New file structures and layouts(?)
Maybe other stuff..
Plus Android/OEM Stock OS includes about every feature, setting, options you could need....
Yeah but for example there were overclocks, choices in odexed or deodexed, debloated roms with installer etc. And now that's all gone?
I also travelled the whole custom ROM journey by Sony (Ericsson) Xperia devices. Starting with X8 and ending with XZ1 compact. And it was fun to choose between different features, custom layouts, rooting and even go the overclocking route.
At the beginning of Android era features like overclocking have been essential on non flagship phones to get decent performance. Also there have been mods like fake multitouch for single-touch Xperia X8.
But nowadays with mature Android most of this stuff is not required any longer. My XZ1c was still rooted through Magisk but the only proper use for it was AdAway. Today there are even non-root DNS ad blockers, so that is not an argument for me anymore.
Regarding custom ROMs I think it's getting more complex with every new stock android feature to maintain compatibility. Also with the introduction of SafetyNet many of the modern phones are useless with regard to safety critical apps like banking ones as soon as you switch to inoffical builds.
In my opinion the interest might have decreased for these reasons. I don't want to spend hours on getting my phone SafetyNet compliant after rooting just to enable a feature thats available without rooting (ad block in my case). Neither do I want to loose certificates for DRM stuff (which got erased in Sony devices while unlocking BL). Finally I am happy with stock ROMs by now. And for R&D purposes I still have old phones lying around which are easier to maintain with regard to SafetyNet because the hardware does not support deep attestation.
Personally I switched to Samsung S10e because Sony decided to ditch compact phones and rather releases strange 9000:1 aspect ratio devices.

Android 12 GSI Recommendations

I'm kind of new to all this, but I understand that the entire concept of a GSI is for it to be usable by everyone, exceptall the ones I've found like Broject Blaze are sorted by phone brands and mostly MIUI phones too.
I would love if I could get some guidelines for choosing them in the future and hopefully some recommendations too.
I use a Tecno pouvoir 3+ (Tecno LB8a)
I'd also love some custom ROMs too anyone knows of any so I could have choices
Thanks!
