[Completed] [Q] Root help? (SM-G357F) - XDA Assist

So I just got a Samsung Galaxy Ace LTE Style and want to root it. The problem is, it's fairly new and I haven't been able to find any guide on it.
SO, should I try to now? or do I have to wait a few weeks?
I tried using Towelroot but it didn't work
I waited for about an hour and a half but the screen stayed inactive and I freaked out and did a hard reset. Should I try it again? I'm a little scared to.
Here are the details:
Android 4.4.4
Model Number: SM-G357FZ
Kernel Version: 3.10.28.-130114

Hi I cannot find any confirmed guides at this point. I also do not recommend trying anything that is not confirmed on xda. And by confirmed I don't mean 1 random post by some member claiming to have found root.
Your best bet is to be patient and check back every so often until a confirmed method is posted. That way you can enjoy your "functioning" albeit unroofed device.

I have a problem with my ace. Every time I call someone it gives me a slot. Then double tap to unlock. Can't find the settings to change it. Please help. It's so annoying

What is the best current way to root & unlock VZW S3?

Guys, I have spent hours rooting and unlocking my S3. Reason it has taken so long is either I don't know what I'm doing or there are so many ways to do it, some may be outdated or something. I'll side with the first reason. But, I do have experience in rooting...kept my OG Droid rooted/overclocked/customized. Did the same with my Thunderbolt. Also rooted my S3 a few months ago after the VZW update that crapped out the radio. When they released the fix, I removed root and installed it. Got the urge for some new stuff and here I am...
Here is what I'm doing:
- Using CausalR795b. Seems quick and easy. Definitely provides root, but I'm not sure about unlocking the bootloader. What is the insecure aboot? Says it's ready to install it, but I can't find out what this is?
- Trying to install TWRP recovery. What is the easiest way to do this? The last time I did it with Goomanager, I got the Verizon Unauthorized Software message at boot.
- Trying to install the latest Hyperdrive ROM. Got it installed once and on reboot, got the VZW Unauthorized message again,
- Using ODIN 3.07 to flash a stock ROM after getting the error message.
Can anyone tell me a link with good directions, start to finish? Or, give me some advice? To me, at least, seems like VZW has made customizing the S3 unnecessarily complicated,
Thanks in advance.
Insecure aboot is the unlocked bootloader. Once you install that you will no longer get the VZW Unauthorized message.
First welcome to the community.
second, this is the wrong section.
third, you have to use D2VZW-CASUAL-R634b release to fully unlock bootloader

My bad...I did post in the wrong place. Wasn't even thinking about it. Had just spent so long in this subforum trying to find answers, must have lost my bearing.
I really appreciate your help! The older Causal did everything in one try with no hiccups whatsoever. Why isn't anything posted about this noted in the newer Causal thread? It might be in there somewhere and if I would have seen it, hours would have been saved.
Now rocking the newest Hyperdrive and probably going to try a few more ROM's. Thanks again!

[Q] What way should I go about this?

Ideally, I want to be running the latest TouchWiz, and it would be great to get rid of some bloatware.
Before you even read this, please understand that I am a little frustrated with this entire situation and that I have spent hours upon hours of my life trying to figure this all out. I traded an iPhone 5 mid-September of 2013 for a pristine S4 - the owner of which used it in a few videos on his channel in YouTube. He said that it was rooted, but mentioned absolutely nothing about it having an unlocked bootloader. I vaguely remember him mentioning something about resetting it (keep in mind that however he went about this reset his very unusual porn collection was unscathed). From the day I got this phone the goodies in the About device section have remained exactly the same.
Model: Samsung-SGH-I337
Android version: 4.2.2
Baseband version: I337UCUAMF3 (bleeeehhhh)
Kernel version: 3.4.0-812098/ [email protected] #1/ Wed Jun 5 15:45 (forward slash represents a line break)
Build number: JDDQ39.I337UCUAMF3 (once again... bleeehhhhh)
As far as the root goes, I don't think it is really there. I have used a few apps to check it, and it isn't being detected. I can't update to a newer firmware on my phone. FML!
Should I go ahead and follow the stickied guide here or do I need to take some alternate route? I just want to be able to run the latest firmware, and if I can work some nifty rooting magic after that to flash a TW rom to get rid of the bloatware? To my understanding MF3 means I can't use custom roms, which is fine with me, I like TW.
Looking forward to the replies.
EDIT:
Could I just root it on the current version it's on and load a more recent rom?

Had a look @ this tutorial already ?
I ended up downloading ODIN to flash the .tar files here. I lost root, but that's fine. Now I can follow the other guide to revert and root, except I will be able to run the 4.4.2 instead of 4.2.2.
To anyone in the same situation, download Odinv1.85, put phone in download mode, and use the picture in his guide to determine where to put the .tar files. The guide to re-root on 4.4.2 is pretty much self explanitory. If not, refer to YouTube for a video tutorial of Note 3 users following the exact same method.
My little black heart is so happy right now!

[Q] Bricked (Not sure if Soft or Hard)?

Hey Guys,
So I'm an idiot. I rooted a tablet 2 years ago and thought that made me the bees knees. Now I can't get past a "system software not authorized by verizon wireless has been found on your phone" screen.
What I did:
-Got Root with TowelRoot
-Downloaded Clockwork Rom Manager
-From that, downloaded CWM recovery for my device (from their app's UI)
It was at this point that I thought things were going to be easy. I'd be able to root and run my own rom without struggling for 3 days like I did with my tablet.
Unfortunately, I think I failed to unlock my bootloader. I can't figure out a way to get passed this screen.
I've downloaded Odin in hopes of being able to fix it , but the phone won't even show up on my PC now.
I started going through this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2581166 thread, but I was curious if I'm even trying to solve the right problem.
Does anyone know if someone has already helped someone through this same issue in a thread? I'm at a loss and wish I hadn't touched anything on my phone.
I would really appreciate any pushes in the right direction. I'm kind of scared. Thanks!
Hmmm, around the 30th time trying to boot it, it gave me an option to cancel and started up the stock OS.
If anyone can point me towards getting around this jail cell, that would be fantastic. I've seen a bit about SafeStrap, but can't find any recent threads on it.

You soft bricked it. Sadly your on the locked bootloader 4.4.2 NE1 and you can't run a custom recovery like cwm, twrp or so on. Your only option is safestrap. I forget off hand what you have to do. I'll do some quick research

Thanks man! I struggled through most of the night and I think I figured everything out. Installed a slim rom via safestrap. Just moved that to the stock partition/slot because I noticed my battery was dropping like crazy.
Do we know if Verizon will be locking all bootloaders going forward, or if there will be any development towards roms that can work with it?
I wasn't sure how to close this thread either

For the most part they will of course try to lock down most phones, the most current phones that have been unlocked are the M8 and the G3 thanks to the development team over on there respected forums. The nexus 6 should also come with an unlocked bootloader but verizon will mess with that one as well somehow

In Need of Help!.. (Status: Confused and @ A Loss!) Model: SCH-I535, Android: 4.3

Hi there, My names K.C. and ive been having trouble (more then i thought id have) trying to root and in learning how too root my Samsung Galaxy SIII, and other devices I own. but its been one headache after another with this device, currently I own three of these little buggers and of all the three ive settled down with my Verizon SIII Model: SCH-I535, Android: 4.3, Baseband: I535VRUCML1, Kernel: 3.0.31 [email protected] #1, Build: JSS15J.I535VRUCML1, SE: Permissive, Hardware: I535.10
Now I've tried to gain root a number of ways, and to no success in any of them, For the longest time I was trying no too use a computer, or anything other then my device and still nothing yet. I have tried kingroot, kingoroot, towelroot, and many others all say the same thing, "Your Device is Now Rooted" "Root Gained" "Made it Rain" so on and so forth, I am currently still in need of Root, but I have gained some root, and I have tried too boot into a custom recovery to no avail. I have downloaded so many files, programs, and have tried everything I can think of though I havent much experience with linex, IOS, or Android, and have very limited experience with any OS as is but I joined XDA with hopes of finding good help, that wont confuse me with a long list of details that doesnt even play a factor into wat i am doing. Cause everytime I search for something about my phone or any device, theres always a million and one posts about every other verient of the device and maybe one or three of the one im currently using so please i beg you all, if theres anything you know or may have too share please I ask you to share and help an ignorent dum dum like me too learn. thank you all for your time and efforts ahead of time, it is greatly appreciated

Yes sir I surely did, it did nothing but asked me too donate to his cause, but still was met with the same message in apps as any other non-computerized root method, but to my surprize I got it to work with kingroot, the second time around, and then something went wrong while the kingroot apk was taking root and now my phone does nothing but enter download mode and nothing else no recovery, no regular boot nothing at all just download

I'm not sure what to tell you then. I know there were 3 versions of towelroot. You just may be out of luck then

Is your phone still stuck in download mode or did you recover from that? Honestly, since you can get into download you can still fix your device I believe. Have you used Odin yet?
