[ROM OVERVIEW - i9500]

The purpose of this thread is to provide the list of ROM's available for the i9500. The ROM's have not been developed by me, so please give the credit for this to the developers..
All I have done is spent a little time compiling the ROM's and put them in one place to help members decide what ROM to flash... To give a brief/ outline of the ROM's function and how they differ.
Video review soon to follow...

Description:
Size of Kernel: 6.31 Mb
Details:
-Sound control
Fixed volume on notifications while on headphones. The headphones volume controls now affect only media playback, and keep the default system values for anything else (Notifications, calls, VOIP).
Hardware equalizer support. This is a 5-band on-chip digital equalizer. Controls are exposed in STweaks. Band frequency control will be implemented in the next iteration.
Includes volume controls for headphone, earpiece and speaker.
-CPUIdle patches to the menu governor to allow for higher residency times in deep C states.
Enabled multi-core aware scheduling.
Added ROW io scheduler and made as the default setting.
Read-ahead for internal and SD increased to 256kB respectively 1024kB.
mDNIe colour and effect controls
-Screen calibration for the master profile: Detailed Calibration Report. Credits go to Slimer777 for the good work.
I removed all non-essential screen controls from STweaks. Frankly, nobody seems to care or use them.
Reverted a change that caused random reboots for some people.
-Clean kernel glued together upon Samsung's last public branch of android-exynos-3.4 with sources provided by the OSRC releases. The OSRC release has been stripped clean of all non-i9500 related code and sourced, as much as possible through the original patches.
exFat working.
WFI residency down to 5 from 1000µS.
Wifi drivers modified to allow only unicast and mDNS traffic through, this should fix battery draining on dirty networks.
Variety of hotfix patches from upstream updated to their final forms.
NFS (in-kernel), CIFS, NTFS (as modules) supported.
Auto-rooting kernel.

You're on the wrong device, then. If there's ever an AOSP rom, it'll be packed to the brim with bugs and many unfixable things. Teamhacksung spent two years on exynos 4 and it's still just barely working.

Yeah I have to agree. Unfortunately Samsung have not been the greatest with releasing code...
If you want a clean google feel to your S4 then buy the google edition that comes out...
I've toyed with many ROM's and love the clean-ness that asop offers... however I always keep going back to samsung and touchWiz... just really like their features...
otherwise i would have probably gone for the HTC one...

Yes you can go back to any ROM. You may want to try changing the modem if its just a wifi issue.
Nice thread for I9500 ROMs
Performance oriented classifications
Very good list and well maintained... Maybe you can help the users better by classifying the ROM's based on which gives more battery, more performance, more stock feel, more customization... etc... just a thought

yeah the problem with that is that its very subjective. Each ROM is pretty much the same battery performance (+/- 5%), and it really depends on which baseband they are using.. (Obviously AOSP is better)
But i do try and stipulate what the ROM feels like as in the launcher, and features... will add customization though, as some ROM's do feature that.

Hi,
first many thanks ... :highfive: Am very happy to see this rom here.
Did a clean flash, your (DHO) gapps ... everything fine until now.
A small (optical) thing. The on/off buttons are not visible in the settings.
But only in landscape... Screenshots attached
Once again, many thanks. Looking forward .... :highfive:
And the Updater in the QS -> jumps to the status bar, but I think you know this.
edit: dual panel mode is ok ...
Will continue testing tomorrow.....

I am trying to fix this now,... been a long time since I touched this part of the theme, so it is slow tracking it down,.. I need to curbside a themer
Compiled with Grimlock's for tonight. Seems smooth so far.
Using my own kernel based upon Grimlocks
Raises quadrant 1500
raised antutu score 1000
Nebulous scores aside it is very much noticeably faster
Nice & thank you for bringing us a new ROM. Do you support f2fs in the kernel? I've flashed mine with it an it makes this thing smooth, just wondering if I have to revert back to try vanir.
Thanks again
###Edit####
Looks like next grimlock kernel version will support f2fs right away. I may have to wait a day or 2 to see how this progresses. Thanks again

Hey @DHO I'm going to finally unlock my bootloader for your ROM as it's probably the best on the tf700. Just wondering if it was compatible with F2FS or whether you plan to integrate it. Also are there plans for pie?

Vanir + the kernel is fully F2FS compliant, but I have not tried implementing it on tf700... mainly b/c I do not have the time to backup and properly test. If you want to guinea pig I can whip out a build.
Or users can make a few tweaks to enable it (since the system is okay with it)

Sure, I'll guinea pig it . I don't want to use the other switch method in the forum method because I want to keep the stock commotio kernel because it's probably the best on the tf700.

I saw some commits in the changelog? Does it have F2FS-all already built in now?

Thanks for the heads up take all the time you need. So just to confirm, there's no way of keeping the commotio kernel whilst f2fs?
What's the most recent stable version?

THE NEW
For most of us, the love for custom ROMs and building had it's foundation in Slim.
We love Slim. Period.
There is no amount of thanks we can extend to the Slim Team, not just for their work but for the open-hearted nature to help anyone.
If it were not for them, in all probability SBC would never have existed.
Shout out in the loudest voice to Kufi, dankoman, jubakuba, josue, Griffin amongst the others for everything over the years.
Change is the only Constant in life & we have reached a junction where it is time to spread the wings some more.
We understand the need for folks to learn & use other popular 'brands' of builds.
In our eyes, it would be disrespectful to the Slim team to have other ROMs posted in a section that was intended only for Slim.
This had been in the works for a few weeks now & Garry has been belting out some cool banners.
So everyone say hello to a newer and more mature - A B C
Slim Builders Collective is now Android Builders Collective.
And we have a new home.
We have moved one level in the forum, and now reside alongside Slim in the root of the Custom Roms forum.
The move was thought out, as we did not want to move where there would be tons of new folks jumping in and derailing the essence of this thread.
This was intended to & will always remain a place for people to learn building, cooking, having fun etc.
We thank all the senior guys here for maintaining the same culture that we started off with.
This will still remain the same. Everyone is welcome, but we do not want this to turn into the other gazillion mud slinging, disrespectful threads that XDA unfortunately has a lot of.
That being said, we still love Slim. And always will.
Ultra SlimRom
The purpose of my build is to have a "naked" version for bacon. Once my base build has been completed only a very few features will be added ensuring the rom is as close to naked as possible with stability and performance having priority....plug in and enjoy...

Hello Everyone. This post will contain my builds.
A little about me. I've been a member of XDA since 2008(as you can see on the left) Started with a HTC Touch and released a few things for the phone before moving to android. I've been with android since the I9000 and have built custom roms/kernels since then(not really original work just modifying for my needs). In general i love everything about technology and am starting to look more at android app development. So here is my build.
I build for the Nexus 6P. Builds now based on PureNexus. I will try to post at least a build a week maybe more as time permits.
Builds will be here:

ABC rom Oreo build for Nexus 6P:
ABC rom 8.0.x
Download latest release and read changelog for Angler: http://kantjer.com/
Installation and kernel:
- Get the latest bootloader, radio and vendor.img from 8.x factory images.
- If you come from another rom do a factory reset and wipe system/caches. If you come from the previous build, a dirty flash should be enough.
- After flashing the rom zip in twrp, flash gapps (Beans Gapps mini are recommended), then reboot and enjoy.
- Recommended kernel: the built-in one or Flash Kernel by @nathanchance:

Thanks to @eng.stk , @Cl3Kener , @flar2 , @franciscofranco and many others for the kernel work they do. Please stop by and give them the thanks they truly
deserve.
What I'll post here will be basically the Slim stock with some cherry-picks of features I like and that are not (maybe yet) merged into the rom itself, plus as many optimizations as I can - as long they do not harm the rom stability in any way. Features and stability, i.e like the original one.
Thanks to the rom's developers for this wonderful rom, to commit's authors for sharing their work with the community, to @Garrykd for the beautiful logos, to @ralpheboyo and to the Builders Collective, especially to @ezio84 who first introduced me to the intricacies of git, for giving me the opportunity to share my fun with others. Kudos to all of them!!!

Hello all! Just let me give a big thanks to the community :highfive:
I currently only build for the Nexus 7 2013 (Flo)
About my builds: My builds are essentially PureNexus with a little bit of Slim thrown in.
Current Builds : Based on PureNexus with mods courtesy of @ezio84. See changes here

And to any of those looking to get into this whole building thing, let me just say if you can flash a ROM you can build one.
For me it started out not wanting to wait for the new weeklies. And I've slowly learned to add a few things here and there.
Slim has an awesome community ready to help out, just like they did for me. :good:

How to read Github as a changelog:
1. Go to the organization or profile page of the ROM you want to see the commits of.
2. Click on one of the repositories (lots of cool features happen in the frameworks_base and packages_apps_Settings repos).
3. Click on the Commits tab in the lefthand corner of the window.
4. Find the date of the last build and start reading backwards (from bottom to top). The title and description of the commit is usually pretty detailed and should tell you what it does.
If you have any questions about a commit or feature, fell free to ask

78490af Merge remote-tracking branch 'nicholaschum/master'
fc81a8b Add appropriate license for our use-case
Main differences against the official Krexus build:
OMS Compatible
Added masquerade app
Removed some stuff that don't have a point existing on an unofficial rom
Hammerhead and Flo are built on dr1.6 branch
Removed layers backup script from Hammerhead and Flo cause Substratum handles that now
Default lcd density is lower for all devices. Angler (480), Bullhead (380), Hammerhead (380), Flo (280).
Installation and kernel:
- Get the latest bootloader, radio and vendor if needed from 6.x factory images.
- If you come from another rom do a factory reset and wipe system/caches. If you come from the previous build, a dirty flash should be enough.
- After flashing the rom zip in twrp, flash latest opengapps and SuperSU if you want root, then reboot and enjoy.
- Recommended kernels: ElementalX for all, blu_spark for Hammerhead
At this point I want to thank first and above all the Krexus ROM developer @KreAch3R who is one of my best friends, awesome guy, excellent developer, a true mentor for me and has always been there to help me.
Also I must thank specifically:
@ezio84 for being always there, giving me advice for android and Linux
@daveyannihilation, @Natakranta and @ralpheboyo cause they are top mates
And of course the rest of the guys in here like @kantjer, @Garrykd which I won't keep mentioning cause I'll forget someone and I don't want to.
Now ***VERY IMPORTANT***, this is an UNOFFICIAL Krexus build, by NO WAY these builds must be confused with official Krexus build just because I'm a moderator in Krexus G+ community. So I don't want to see any comments about this on the official G+ community, official Krexus xda threads or to learn that ppl are asking @KreAch3R about these builds. If that happens I'll stop releasing builds asap because for me official Krexus will always be more important, these builds are just my training ground. Whatever you guys want contact me.
And yes, I've kanged @ezio84's release posts.
Hello all! My name is Dan, and I'm a Slim guy at heart. I started in with maintaining the Skyrocket in the early KitKat days... and picked up the Hercules as a favor in response to many inquiries. I've been tagging along ever since, now a lead dev of CandyRoms, and maintaining the OnePlus One, OnePlus3/3T, OnePlus5 and OnePlus5T. I do this as a hobby, which those who are near and dear to me would say is more of a part-time job... Have fun and we'll see you around! Cheers!

The Skyrocket and Hercules devices have a unified Virtually Partitioned Celox family build they share. This gives them new life, with a 2GB /system partition and a ~12GB /data partition for apps and files. These devices have an ExternalSD slot, with up to 64GB MicroSD cards tested working. The Skyrocket originally shipped with Android Gingerbread v2.3.6, so Marshmallow 6.0.1 makes for the 6th major version of Android to run on these devices, with all functions working!

We need to replace the ramdisk from CM11.
Can you do that, please? I have CM11 and battery charging last about 5h ( stock 3h), and drain faster than stock, 7% for night for example (stock 1%).

Let me just say this is an ALPHA (advanced alpha)
Not for daily use, but for test purposes..
The 6752 will be hopefully in the same state as the aosp N for the plus variant soon
Maybe if I have time I'll release alpha 2 tomorrow with couple things fixed
Cheers
Will there be an AICP, too?

There's no even N Aicp yet [emoji14]
And wow, almost everything was fixed on Plus variant, that is impressively fast. Know our will receive it soon.
Well @superdragonpt I had to do a big "gambiarra" to test it without USB port, but managed haha [emoji14]

Another bug I don't know if I am only me that have it. I have good signal I can make calls but I can't receive calls
Damn MAD Team, i was so happy with Aicp11v2 until you announced N for mtk6752. I had absolutely no problems with Aicp, even the modem is the best one i ever had on S3. I deactivate every frequencies with the help of the site http://willmyphonework.net/ , posted by a user here in forum.
Un-f-u-c-k-in-believable.
Just don't abandon MM like it was with LP. :good:
N looks nice. I know its an advanced alpha, bu i post the bugs i found in my short testing, hope that is appreciated by devs:
- twrp3.0.2 from Derteufel gives 2 unknown command error but installed anyway
- Google play services keeps on crashing (gapps related)
- Setup assistant keeps on crashing (maybe gapps related too)
- could not connect to wifi with wpa enterprise encryption; i entered username and password but the connect button remains grey (unhitable)

This work is sensational. I never thought I could have Nougat in my Jiayu S3. Thank you for this version and the Alpha Beta next and perhaps final and stable version someday
Had a wifi connection but could not go on opening account.
It looks like that it was not possible to make a connection
