Help Install BusyBox/SafeStrap Mount Issue? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I cant get safestrap to make a backup... when i open safestrap and try to make a backup i notice that the log says e: unable to mount /system and some other unable to mound errors about /systemorg and /system. i went to mount and looked at what was mounted and it shows me Data xxx.mb cache xx.mb and system 0mb the box is unchecked next to system when i try and click it nothing happens...
i can not figure out y safestrap cant see my system safestrap thinks that there is no OS on my device, when i boot to system from safestrap it says no OS are you shure you want to continue and if i continue my phone restarts and boots fine.. y is safestrap not seeing my system partition??? my phone is rooted with towelroot.
another thing is that the requirements for safestrap is to have busybox. well i got the installer for busybox and it says it may take up to 300mb on system storage to install, busybox installer says that there is only 28mb in my system available. i went to titanium backup to view my available space and it says system rom 1.54GB (28.8mb free), internal+media 13.1 GB (7.19 GB free), Ext.SD card 7.93 free (1.83 GB free).
i clicked install on the busybox installer and it started and after it was done there was a box that told me The version of busybox installed now is the same as the version of busybox installed before the installation. so i closed it and tryed again this time it told me not enough space try another location. i tryed /bin and /xbin. i tryed a third time and it acted like it installed but idk if it did because before i clicked install it says only Free space in /system 28.0 and when i first opend busybox it informed me it would take around 300mb so idk how it could have installed. so to check if it was installed i looked at titanium backup and clicked on root and it says "Root Access Ok (BusyBox 1.19.4-Titanium From App)" this is odd to me because the version of busybox that was suppose to be installed was 1.21.1 so to double check i opend terminal emulator and typed "su" and then "busybox" and a list of commands came up and it says "BusyBox V1.21.1 - stericson" i also downloaded root check and it says version 1.21.1 but TI says 1.19.4?? so im confused idk if busybox eaven installed all the way because of storage space and im unshure of what version i have installed if any... im woundering if my Safestrap is not working right because maby busybox is not fully installed correctly. i just want to make a backup so i can start messing with custom roms but safestrap is unable to read/mount my system partition...
At the veryleast can someone explain to me how to safely uninstall busybox so i can try and reinstall it correctly to see if safestrap will recognize/mount my /system partition
How to free up enough space in /system to install busybox?

NOTE: One day i was messing with apps after rooting phone and i installed rom manager and when i opend it had a popup that says you need to have a custom recovery like ClockworkMod, we can begin by helping you install CWM recovery on your device" and there was a ok button i got scared because i read that CWM would brick my i535 on 4.4.2 so i immediately exited because i thought it was auto installing CWM and dident wunt brick. well anyway my phone rebooted oneday after battery died and my phone started up and says samsung unlock with a padlock and i found this odd so i researched it and im still not shure but i think that comes up when ur bootloader unlocked witch myne is not, and i am under the inpression a custom recovery will brick my device i535 4.4.2 ne1. anyway idk what happend but my phone no longer has the unlock samsung screen and idk y, idk how it got there to beginw ith... i went into a filemanager and seen a folder called ClockWorkMod and it had 2 files in it.. but i never installed clockwork..
PS: Sorry for my grammer and spelling im at work and am in a hurry to type. thank you for any help i do really appreciate it!

[Q] Showcase- cant root after installing CM7

would have just asked in :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1142872&page=67
but i don't have enough posts, and don't want to spam a bunch of useless "cool" posts to get my count up.
Anyways,I did every thing in that topic and have CM7 running fine on my Cell South Showcase. But, i don't seem to have root access superuser is there but seems to do nothing. i tried checking via the terminal with just a "su" command and got nothing. Tried Superoneclick (my go to rooter for awhile) and it just hangs at "looking for device" . and, Z4 seems to not work with 2.3.4 phones.
So is there any fix to this, or have i just hit some crazy bug?
I have seen some people allude to changing the kernel, but the last time i tried to upgrade/change the kernel on this phone i had to save it via odin
Don't you HAVE to be rooted in order to run cm7?
i know, it breaks all logic
i just know i cant grant superuser to anything, busybox installer says it isnt rooted, and Titanium cant do anything

Clear data on superuser app and/or uninstall/reinstall it.
Ah,I see.. yes, try above. If no. Maybe wipe and reflash?
ok cleared the data, did nothing
can you ever uninstall/reinstall superuser?

Yup just an app
Also:
i have already flashed via Odin back to stock once and did the whole CM7 flash again from a fully clean rom
ok, Flashed Superuser 3.0 beta 3
no go, says my SU binary is out of date, and the app crashes when it tries to update it
checked my bin and xbin, both have a "SU" file in them
in terminal when i CD in to both folders and try to run "SU" i get an error that looks like it is trying to relocate a library and failing to do so
Can i just download the new SU binary my self and manual drop it in to the folders?
well that didnt work, cant modify anything in the system folder so i cant delete that old "SU" and replace it with the one from the superuser 3.0 apk
LOL
well i got it to let me replace the SU in /bin but not in /xbin
so now i got some half confused phone, i can grate Superuser "superuser" but when it tries to update or do any thing the log says "gaining root access....fail"
i still dont know how i have have a CM7 phone that by it very nature is rooted that thinks it is not rooted
ok for anyone who cares, i just gave up flashed via odin back to stock and tried the MIUI port, worked great once i fangled MMS in to working again
I had a similar problem, at which point I grabbed stericson's busybox app from the market which allowed me to flash a working busybox which after a reboot or two and running the installer again fixed me up..there is an app called root checker that can give info on su, superuser.apk, and busybox installs
I am almost positive that when I used jrummys busybox installer our killed root access on my phone. I had superuser.apk but without busybox it was rather useless as no apps could get root. the fix was flashing busybox 1.19.0 and leaving it in xbin and letting the app do its thing once I had rebooted.. then I rebooted again and everything was fine! after bring rooted for so long I don't think I could function without it!
for others out there, my experience has been this: stay weary of the jrummy busybox installer...its never given me anything but problems...and honestly unless busybox is borked, or ya have a damn good reason to upgrade or downgrade my suggestion is to leave it! the potential problems that can arise (for me every time, using jrummy's version..3 times) can be a pain!
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
i had the same issue but dont recall if it was CM7 that did it or not but i think it was.
i had to completely blow out the phone and start from scratch.
if i recall, CM7 uses a different version of SuperUser and it just want bonkers on me but completely blowing everything out reformatting and everything seemed to work.
If you're on CM7 already, you should be rooted. If not, try SuperOneClick (Google).

[Q] Superuser help -- Samsung Vibrant

I'm at my wits end because after 6 hours of trying to make sure my Samsung Vibrant is rooted and that I can use Superuser Elite (which I've had for a while) I get conflicting information from the "Root Check Pro" which states I have root access and busybox installed. However, when I click on busybox it tells me I don't have root access to install it. Furthermore, my list of apps in Superuser is blank and there is no option to add apps to it.
I went to adroidsu.com for help with Superuser but it actually was no help as there were no instructions on how to use it, install it or troubleshoot it.
I'm running Froyo 2.2 (T-Mobile). My end desire is simply to update my ROM to 2.3 Gingerbread.
I have the premium version of ROM Manager installed but nothing happens when I click on "Reboot into Recovery". Same thing for "Backup Current ROM". It will prompt me if I want to reboot. When I click "Yes" nothing happens.
I attempted to use both the update.zip method (putting it on the internal SD card) and going into recovery mode at bootup to root the phone and also tried the latest version of SuperOneClick. Both 'SEEMED' to work but now I'm having my doubts.
I have no idea where to go next to resolve this. Help!

Zeepad comes rooted already, at least mine did...install superuser from market and any app that needs root permission, if your able to grant such permissions your rooted. Sorry i cant remember the command for adb or terminal emulator to get this answer quicker...

My daughter just got one of these devices for Christmas, as well. I saw this post as well and thought "Great, I don't have to do the part" so, I installed SuperUser, when I went to update the su binary, which was shown as "Legacy" it got all the way to where it needs to remount the / file system as rw, and to my surprise, it wont remount. Another thing I noticed was that even though it does have su installed, I can't get to the point to where the app even asks for root permission. I tried to update Busybox, as well, and it wouldn't let me even do that... The version which is installed to the tablet appears to be 1.18, but when SuperUser goes to update the su binary it reports back as being the same as the installed version, which I know for a fact that it is not. So while I do in fact have root, it seems to only be a partial root. Anyone willing to throw around some ideas as to where I can go from here to A) get the / file system to remount rw, and B) get SuperUser, an updated su binary and an updated Busybox installed so that I can a full root going and get down to business to installing CWM and CM10 installed and running on here for her.
Any help would be appreciated,
Matt

all zeepads come prerooted and shouldnt block u from updating or to have root access (download root checker) from market
Ur Binarys Should Still Update And Say Current If U Download New Binary Just Wont Show Up Till Reboot
If u Want To Stop This Error While Not Having To Reboot Everytime
Ya This IS Annoying to Do Everytime But Simple solution
THis Proplem IS Do To The Tablet Having A Stock Kernel That Doesnt Allow System Read/Write Access
This Is Why SuperUser Fails Cause It Needs Write Access To The Devices File System...(system/xbin/su)
Which means to Remount system after updating to take Affect And Most Stock Devices Do Not Allow This
so if u updated and it said current version ur ok this is to prevent anymore errors in the future
superuser can have different error witch mean different things just cuz u get one doesnt mean
they didnt take affect but remount of system is the most common error check superuser faq
1.Download Mount System R/W App From PlayStore And Install And Open.
2 .Allow Root Access To The App Then Select Mount System R/W Button
3. Press Home Button And Navigate To SuperUser App And Then Try Updating Binary
This Method Should Work For You
Hope This Works For You
As for cwm and cm9/cm10 it depends if u have a8 or a10 device a13 are not yet supported

Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but I got the a13 and was wondering if anyone was making a cm9/cm10 rom for it as well. I have the a13. I tried to Google and can't find any info about any custom roms for this device.
I used kingRoot version 4.1 Any newer version would not root it.

Help with Samsung s5 root!

Hello everyone!
I would like to ask you something and i REALLY HOPE someone will be able to help me out.
I have a samsung s5 sm-g900f with Android 6.0.1 and i'm trying to root it.
Actually it was supposed to be rooted when i got it -it's my bf's phone. And...aaam i don't know if it's called "rooted" when it just have custom recovery and rom? I just call it that way-. Yesterday i installed root checker and Super SU and the Super SU keeps saying that "There is no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it" and that if i have Android 5 i should re root manually and stuff.
I have tried like everything i have found on the net since yesterday, flashing with Odin, changing recovery from twrp to cwm, and all the time the steps are made by letter, all seems fine, i see the red pirate android after the recovery reboot and all that, have tried to install the UPDATE-zip and the BETA-zip and all i could find. I tried to install Kingroot but i couldn't figure out how. My recovery nor Odin can see the file to install it and then i try to do it manually, like all apps, it says could not be installed. :crying:
I got really tired and i cave in to ask for help here. I hope the post is in the right place and if it's not please move it where it should be!
Thank you in advance!

Since you can flash custom recovery then your bootloader is already unlocked so....
Do a search for "flashing SuperSU.zip Galaxy S5" or you might need to search for "flashing SuperSU.zip in systemless mode galaxy s5". Flashing one of those should give you root and su binaries, after flashing, boot the device and open the SuperSU app and update the su binaries then reboot the device. Then after rebooting, you need to go to system settings>developer options>root access and set it to "apps and adb", then install a file manager that has a root explorer such as ES File Explorer, then open it, tap the menu button, go to the "TOOLS" tab, find "Root Explorer" and turn it on, then when you see the next menu, tap "Mount R/W", then set all listed partitions to "rw".
If you can access your SELinux profile, make sure it's set to "permissive" mode.
If you can get all of that set then you'll have access to modify and control pretty much anything you want about the device.
I DO NOT PROVIDE HELP IN PERSONAL MESSAGE, I DO NOT TAKE REQUESTS IN PERSONAL MESSAGE, YOU WILL BE IGNORED. KEEP IT IN THE THREADS WHERE EVERYONE CAN SHARE
thank you!!!
i wont be able to try it for a few days but i'll try it as soon as i can and give you feedback on this!
So i'm trying to follow your instructions right now. I guess it's ok if i install recovery upon recovery and SU upon SU without first removing the "faulty" one?
Cause i have done the first steps a lot these days
edit: i flashed again aaaaaand nothing new happened. The SU binary is nowhere to be found :/
some say it could be a problem of the cable or the computer?
Should i try from a different pc and cable? I do not really understand it but i'll give it a try later
edit 2: i retried from another pc and another usb cable, the same happens. Does not install the SU through the recovery
I installed the SuperSU (actually enebled it again and updated it) from playstore and opened it and it says the sme thing again. Can't find su binaries and stuff.
What should i do? Is format a solution or can avoid it?

Rooted - Nougat - Cant Remove System Apps

Hi Guys
as above. Honor 8 - rooted - custom rom (Tastynoogat) but i cant remove system apps with Tib Backup.
I cant figure out why. Comes up saying System app cant be found.
Any ideas?
you absolutely positive you're rooted? if yes, 99% of time its busybox issue. try pushing the one from this rar to system/xbin.
Yep triple checked. Ive rooted hundreds of devices and it all checks out.
Installed the above and still cant remove apps.
I know root works because adway and quick reboot work fine.
Busybox was already installed in the correct place, Ive reinstalled it there and still cant remove system apps.
cant be 100%, since i didnt use TB to cleanup N, but huawei moved some apps to diff location on N, and TB doesnt recognize those properly (same issue with AdAway). you could try and remove them manually with RE, thats what i did. most of them are on /data partition, so start there
