Is CM12 planned to be ported to the Atrix 2? - Motorola Atrix 2

Well, the title basically explains it all. I love Android L, but I can't get it onto any of my devices as CM12 is only available on the popular devices, like the S4 and S5. When will it be ported to the A2? Thanks!

Officially I doubt it, despite Motorola recently been into updating their older phone line-ups. The dual core phones are showing their age. To be honest, the custom CM12 roms for this device would be more beneficial than an official update. I've got it on my LG G2 and it's very good, it'll be interesting to see if the speed improvements translate over to this model of phone as good as it has for this device.

Yeah, custom ROMs would be the way for this device. But yeah, I doubt anyone's gonna port CM12 to this device. It's old already..

Bump.
No android L for me then.

Android 5.0 Lollipop for Xperia M2

Hello guys. Do you know if Android 5.0 will be released Lollipop for our device?
It won't.

Why wouldn't it?
I don't know if Android 5.0 Lollipop is going out for our Xperia M2, but, as far I know, there's a limit to a 18 months for develop a new Android Operative System, so, it'll be slow, but, I'm sure that it'll be Android 5.0 (It isn't a bad device, it has great specs, not like a Xperia Z2, but still, it's the same as Moto G and its device is going to get Android 5.0 (Clean AOSP, but, either way, there's no possibilities for no Android 5.0)).
I'd say it will be. the M2 is a 2014 device, pretty recent, plus qualcomm should be updating binaries for the M2 (it has the same chipset as the Moto G with LTE which IS getting the upgrade)

No forget that Moto G has clean AOSP so, it's natural for them get the updates too much soon than us xD. Moto G users doesn't even need to wait too much. We must wait for Sony "develop" the new UI and also other things based on compatibility, which takes more time and can even deny the deveolpment for Xperia M2.
But, either way, I think is coming, there's no much difference between other phones that it has Android Lollipop updates
probably cyanogenmod will be the fastest way to get 5.0
m2 will not be getting the L update
just had this from sony themselves so its official the m2 will not be getting the update cant say as im happy think ill be unlocking bootloader and rooting now stuff the warranty....

Dear Adrian,
Thank you for contacting the Sony Xperia support centre, regarding the latest version of Android coming to the Xperia M2.

Nonsense.... This is the only thing I'm gonna say to Sony after reading that message. They're just trying force us to buy a Xperia Z series, just to get Android 5.0?
That's just the first list. Wait!!

The guy of the Sony chat responded to me (in Dutch) he thinks Android L will be released for our phone! He's not sure, but he supposes so.
Well good news ^^

maybe they would surprise. because same chipset as Moto G, 2014 phone, and got 1GB RAM. not much reason why not update to Lollipop. however, its Sony's final decision to allocate for the development of this, or simply just say cannot and you guys just upgrade to Z series.
Why would yous need official lollipop lads? If I could, I would make custom lollipop and I would depend on them, but I'm not that good with developing for android yet :/

And that is most likely the reason why people want the official lollipop. They are not experienced developers including myself and who knows if and when an unofficial custom ROM arrives... And an official release actually speeds up the development of custom Roms especially with released sources.

[Q] Updating to Lollipop

Hey guys
My friend just bought a new Huawei Mate 7 Gold yesterday and I checked the Android version and it says 4.4.2 Kit-Kat. He'd like to update it to Lollipop and since I have been doing such things for years on Samsung and HTC devices I thought I should help him out by checking the forum first. I found a helpful article about updating it to Lollipop OTA, however it is in German and the translation is terrible, so can anyone point me in the right direction?
As I said, the device is brand new and still has 4.4.2 unmodified Kit-Kat on it.
This is the article I am talking about: http://www.huaweiblog.de/huawei/huawei-mate-7-lollipop-update-download/
Thanks guys!
There's a thread dedicated to this in the general section
Thanks for you reply and for pointing me out to the right thread. From what I've read, it seems as though the Lollipop update is quite unstable nowadays and I should hold off till it's official, correct? I don't want my friend to go through a hassle because of it since he is not very tech-savvy.

I have installed lollipop 5.1.1 beta and its quite good but there's still many bugs. Maybe it is better to wait the official release.
I agree. If your friend is not tech savvy, hold first and wait for official release
It's usable as a daily driver, but no, not as stable as 4.4.2.
Generic overview:
-random reboots, not extremely frequent but they happen.
-some memory issues compared to 4.4.2
-a bit less battery
-some options not present
Hi, someone knows when will be release the official version of lollipop? No betas

I second that. While material design is nice to look at, the memory leak and battery drain are causing issues in some lollipop phones

So it is Xperia U and it's getting even Marshmallow thanks to @AGONTUK.
Well, almost everyone that has got this phone seems not to have been interested in modding its ROM, that's why it's not getting any Android newer than 4.4.2 KitKat, I guess.
Is you can upload device tree to github I can make cm12,also I have CWM.I broked this phone, but i will still try to make cm12

lol... Your inexperience is showing here. The Moto X getting Nougat has nothing to do with Android O, we will get it within the next few months but it will likely be our last upgrade.
Other newer Moto devices will get O, probably towards the end of the year or early next year.
If you want consistent, regular updates and constantly be on the latest and greatest then buy a Pixel. End of story, nothing else will get you better.

What are you talking about? There are literally dozens of Nougat ROMs in the forums. I am currently running Resurrection Remix and their ROM is pretty stable on 7.1.1. I haven't had any issues with it and it's super smooth and fast. Try it!

I somewhat agree with you. Am on latest Lineage build with boot.img fix and everything is working fine.
But you can't argue against, "Stock Moto is best Moto."
Moto's stock ROM usually have best performance and battery life.
P.S: They improved battery life in Soak Test. There's very little battery drain when phone is idle. Also the phone doesn't get heat up much when multitasking.
Unified reply:
The third party ROM does not have Moto's unique features, power consumption and instability.

For someone that's a small issues but I rather stay on MM and wait for stock ROM.

FYI, Yes. I can change Call volume without any problem. Also Audio and Mic are working perfectly fine.
"wave over the screen to wake the phone" - I guess, you meant AMBIENT DISPLAY.
Well, in your words, Yes, I can wave over the screen to wake the phone.
Am currently on Lineage 03/20 build with fixed boot.img from the dev.
and before that I was on 02/13 build which was just as stable as stock ROM.
Maybe you should look around in forum a bit more.
use custom rom or have patience

Yeah I'll admit the battery life isn't the greatest but it's also not that bad. At least there's the option for Nougat if one desires it
Moto X Pure/Style will not get Android O - ever. It's doubtful whether it will get anything other than 7.0 to be honest .

Oh, it will get Android O, and probably P, maybe even Q too... But not officially or from Moto. Look at the Moto G (original one) it is 3 or close to 4 years old, and it is still supported by developers, you can get Nougat on it and will likely get O as well.
And why should Moto continue to support it? This phone is a getting close to 2 years old, there is no logical reason for Moto to continue supporting a platform that is getting beyond it's normal life cycle.

Keep dreaming if you think that'll happen. 7.1.1 is already out for many devices not to mention O aka Oreo for Nexus devices. Lenovo/Motorola is garbage and we all know this. That's why we all stop supporting these two garbage companies so they can go out of business.

Custom Rom
You know what I think Lenovo is never going the moto x android N in non US countries it is apparently out in Latin America
But If you want the rom just install Lineage OS they have a decent battery life for a custom and the device runs perfectly fine no bugs no lag nothing
A perfect Android N rom for almost all Motorola devices
I am trying my first custom ROM so please help.
I have Moto x Pure Edition XT 1575 on Android 6.0. I have not done anything to my phone yet and this is the first time I am trying. Would you please let me know the exact steps to root, flash and install custom ROM on my phone?

No need to root the stock rom if you're just going to wipe it and flash a custom rom. The steps you need to follow are:
1) Unlock bootloader if not already done (note unlocking will automatically wipe the device, so backup files appropriately first)
2) Use fastboot to flash TWRP
3) Make a full backup in TWRP (don't skip this step as it can save you a lot of trouble if things go wrong)
4) Wipe and flash your custom rom. Flash gapps before booting in to the new rom too if you want Play store, etc.
5) Some roms aren't pre-rooted any more. If you want root, I recommend Magisk.
Details on how to do all this are spelled out step by step in Heisenberg's guide. Just do not root using the method in there. As I mentioned above, you don't have to root the stock rom just to replace it with a custom. However, if you feel the need to root the stock rom just flash Magisk. Don't flash that custom boot image it links to; that was a hack from the early days of systemless root that we no longer need.
Back when i was messing around with my Moto X Pure...i tried all the Mm roms at the time. Always found stock rom the smoothest and best battery life and most to my liking. A year or so later....it still has amazing battery life and nearly 2 days of standby time. It even outperforms my LG V10 even after replacing the battery.
And Android 8.0 is Octopus...apparently... not Oreo.....the dev preview build that is out has an Octopus logo thing in it now.
