Why would anyone have any use for it over here? It doesn't do anything we can't already do.
Plus, Safestrap is extremely device-specific.
Really I'm not sure if I. Want to unlock bootloader as of yet. And coming from the og photon with locked boot loader I have no experience with any other recovery method.
Could i unlock after rooting by the exploit method.

Unlocking helps you to root, so you cant unlock AFTER rooting. You also need to be rooted to flash custom recoveries

Ohh well in that case, no, just unlock the bootloader directly
My mistake, its just that the only root methods for the Photon that I've seen so far unlock your bootloader at the same time
So just ignore what I said and unlock directly

[Q] Root TF300 w JB?

I just purchased a TF300 today (Black Friday WOOOHOO!) and it came with JB pre installed. Can it be rooted/downgraded? Btw updated to 10.4.2.17 firmware
I too purchased 1 at Best Buy on Black Friday. I've been looking around and I found this video on YouTube which links to XDA and a thread in this section. The video was done before the JB recovery was added but I think it should work. Just use the JB recovery in the place of the ICS one. Here's the link to the video. Once you check the link that accompanies the video, you'll see what I mean. I'm thinking about rooting mine today. The only thing that has stopped me from doing so is the fact that there is no work around the voiding of the warranty.
Here's the vid I was talking about.

Just purchased mine today too from best buy. What is the first step to root.

Went ahead got the TF300T 32gb today.
Installed TWRP with fastboot and flashed Paranoid Android ROM. Works great so far.
The link I posted above was only helpful because it gave the correct information to get SDK. CWM was working but would not make backups properly and the root zip that is in the video would not allow my tablet root. It installed SuperUser but I still didn't have root.
I went ahead and flashed TWRP and I'm glad that I did because the UI is much better. Once TWRP was installed, all I did was flash a custom "rooted" ROM. PROFIT!
This is TWRP for the TF300T. Make sure that you read it completely because the blob file will need to be renamed to twrp.blob in order to be used. It tells you the cmd's that will need to be used also. Like I mentioned above, I used fastboot and it was easy as could be.

ParanoidAndroid- Nice ROM.

In the command mode in window trying install recovery_jb.img. There is an error message. Should I be using ics recovery instead?

Yep. That's the only thing I didn't like about flashing and rooting...... the bootloader has to be unlocked 1st and that voids the warranty. From what I understand, it only voids the software, not the hardware warranty. I entertained the thought about keeping it stock but after a little debating, decided to modify. I'm glad I did.

Difference between software + hardware warranty?

Difference between software + hardware warranty? Like accidental damage?

Anyone Flashed Stock Recovery? 12.15.15

Just curious what would happen if this were done on a rooted upgraded device?

You can't. Fastboot won't allow the version downgrade.
I am not talking about downgrading.
What I am talking about pulling the 12.15.15 recovery from the OTA to flash.
Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
I believe that is fine to do. It would just allow you to enter recovery again. It wouldn't necessarily allow you to take an ota successfully, I don't think. Some changes are made to /system after you root.

So why couldn't be flash the system.img to return to stock unrooted?
From my understanding the KK update completely formats the partitions during install.
