Does the Nexus Controller work with the nvidia shield?

I am looking to pick up a shield android tv my main concern is how well does kodi work on this compared to an amazon fire stick? I currently have a fire stick and it streams all my local media pretty well. Is there going to be any difference in kodi running on the shield?

I bought this on amazon, gamepad itself is working on Nexus 5 but does not work on x play.

The Gamesir G3S is a very good budget controller. It resembles the Dualshock 4 design and is very comfortable.
You could also look at the Gamesir GS4, its a newer controller and has a similar design to the Xbox Controllers.
Sorry but I just don't want to let this go yet.
So my setup involves MS Wireless Display Adapter v2, which I think is the best device for mirroring so far.
I like this over Chromecast because I don't want to involve our WiFi.
Now people here said that Shield losing its mirroring feature, even if you add that line in build.prop to expose the toggle for wireless display, has something to do with it being on Android Nougat. Basically, Android N renders direct wireless mirroring useless.
I have both Redmi Note 4 (Android M) and Redmi Note 4x (Android N) - both can mirror using MS Wireless Display.
So my question is how is that possible? Both Redmis and the Shield Tablet have the hardware for it. So why can't SHIELD TABLET have direct wireless mirroring???
I wish someone could help. Thanks.

Well if it's true mirroring, I'd gladly buy the shield TV.
I just hate Chromecast.
Thanks.
