a lot of times roms do not have a google play apk but now here is what you can do .YOU can search the web ,and install google play 4.0.25 its the new one and it is downloadable as an apk file.JUST tipe downloadandroidrom in your browser and go to apk and then go to market, click on com.android.vending .If you have any problems installing it ,try use a file explorer.

First off, we dont support piracy on xda.
To solve your problem, download a play store in apk format from sites like androidpolice etc. and push it to /system/app with permissions of rw-r-r. You are done.

Ok. Install the app directly. Download another app called link2sd. Grant superuser access. Then open app window. Click on google play. Click on actions button. see options and click "make system app". It will make it system app automatically. Then reboot your phone. If it still FC, use fix permissions option from cwm recovery.

make sure that you also have GoogleServicesFramework.apk and GoogleLoginService.APK. AFAIK you need these two as well to get the play store app to work.
superuser says my binary is outdated. when i go to update it, it crashes saying it has stopped unexpectly. on link2sd all the options under actions is launch manage reinstall unistall. i tried manage and it just took me to application settings. i hope i didnt screw up my phone rooting it last night because i cant do anything on it. google play has got to where i can go in install an app but soon as i hit accept and download it crashes. i did a factory reset last night so poot and superuser are gone. i tried to redownload superuser just now and thats when it said my binary was outdated and when i try to update it, it crashes. is this fixable or is my phone screwed up lol. i really appreciate you helping me!!!

You can disable notifications from superuser app. Also you won't loose root if you factory reset your phone. Superuser app is set as system app when you root it. Also follow what justmpm said above.

You must install the Goggle play compatible with your Android version and your phone.
Please provide the phone model, Android version and if you have a custom recovery or not,
If you are still unable to install playstore apk, i will recommend downloading gapps for your phone model. Flash them from custom recovery using install zip. This should install your playstore. No clue if it can override the pre exisiting apps. Still learning on xda.

I don't think he has a curtom recovery set up. Flashing Gapps would overwrite existing ones, but most gapps packages are configured to abort the installation if some gapps already exist.
Try this app as an alternative
Have u tried downloading 1 mobile apk its like Google play store try it

He is already on root, and perhaps if there's nowhere the solution, ome simply can't live without playstore. I will advise full system wipe with data and installing a newer custom recovery and then new rom with new gapps.

Any proper solution for this? Running on CM12.1.
Brother sorry we couldn't help you in this case because we don't know how to fix it . One thing you can do is that Google it and you will found some better response for sure
Dude, that is the easiest thing to fix, but if the OP doesn't tell us the phone model and version i wont even bother trying to fix it. OP is inactive anyways...
Hi. I'm experiencing a weird issue with my nexus 5 (stock ROM, root). When I try to install any application, at the permissions screen, I just cannot tap the "Install" button. It's like the touchscreen didn't work (but it works). The "cancel" button works fine, and the "install" button isn't grayed out or something. I've already tried rebooting or switching to landscape. Any suggestion? Thank you

I'd clear the cache and data from the Play Store and reboot and retry. If that doesn't work, then I''d clear the Google Play Services and Google Services Framework and reboot and retry. Might open up weird the first time or 2 after clearing all of them, but should get back to normal once everything logs in and resyncs.

Well, always want to eliminate the potential easy fixes first. Are you on Dalvik or ART? Do you have a custom recovery? Are these all apps or just ones that you have downloaded / used before? Are you able to uninstall an app you already have loaded and reinstall or just update one?

Ate you trying to install only apps from the play store or do you have an apk you're trying to install?
Duh, I just automatically read into the OP that it was the Play Store, not thinking of sideloading or other avenues.
OP: Do you have any type of screen adjustment apps for like brightness control? Lux, and Xposed mod, or something of the like? This can also create this issue. That or your package installer is messed up.

The problem happens to any the apk. I'm sure I could install them before. It does not happen when I download an app from Play Store, but that's because the permissions screen is different. I can successfully uninstall apps, but not reinstall or update them.
You're going to have to manually install them. Are they legal apps?

Ok then. First thing is the screen changing type apps. Screen brightness, etc. Uninstall any of those, reboot and try again. If there are no issues there, then clear the cache and data from your package installer (are you using the regular Package Installer or the Google Verify and Install one)? Once you do that, would reboot to CWM and clear cache/dalvik and fix permissions (if possible, haven't used CWM in awhile) and reboot. If all that fails, try another package installer.

Awesome! I just happened to have stumbled across this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2048457 that seemed like the same boat you were in. So thanks to them, and Google. I'm just the messenger.
Hello,
So, I've recently bumped into this situation I would download an app's apk online but it won't install. I'm on CM 12S YNG1TAS17L. Downloading the apk is perfectly fine, but when I install the app, it just goes to a "app not installed" screen where I can only press on the "done" button. The 2 specific apps are SnapColors, an xposed module, and Mango, a manga app. I have no idea why these apps won't install all of a sudden. I would greatly appreciate any help given. These apps have worked perfectly fine before until an update came, and now, all apks not from the Google Play Store do no install.

Are you on Pure Nexus, by chance? I know you're not stock since you mentioned 7.1.2. If you're using that ROM, in the download section underneath the ROM and gapps, there's a camera fix zip and you need to flash that as well. @GizmoTheGreen

So, this is my first time rooting a phone, and once I managed to get it to work, I started playing around to see what capabilities I had now.
In doing this, I uninstalled the play store. I've tried multiple methods to reinstall it, but none have worked so far.
I've tried installing a new play store apk and used systemize to turn it into a system app, but that didn't work (the app crashed on launch)
I've also tried using link2sd but the app wouldn't let me convert to system app.
If anyone else has any tips for me I'd be grateful.

Copy it from another device using ApkExport then transfer the installable copy over to the victim device and install.
I haven't tried it with Playstore but it works on other apks even if the donor device is on a different Android OS version.

sadly the only other device i have is a samsung galaxy S2 that is barely functional. I doubt that'll work.
Before you do anything I'd make sure you have a good backup of your device. Copy text messages, contacts, photos, etc all to external storage.
My first thought was just download install APK, but I see you've done that.
Someone else may have a better suggestion, but, if nothing else works, I'd try installing pico GApps to restore Playstore functionality.

Pico PackageThis package is designed for users who want the absolute minimum GApps installation available. In this package you will find the core Google System Base, Google Android Shared Library, Google Play Store, Google Calendar Sync, Dialer Framework and the following Play Store applications:

Yeah it's a system app on my Note 10+, can't be uninstalled*.
Normally it doesn't crash although it's common for it to not connect to Playstore. It does that if Google play Services is disable but even then it doesn't crash.
* I think, it has a disable option but to find out if there's an uninstall I would need to revert to the factory load first... which isn't something I want. It appears to be as I originally stated.

there is no uninstall option. I uninstalled it through other means as my phone is rooted. Now I'm having issues re-installing it and getting it to work.
My last 2 cents here:
Per definition only apps that are needed by Android OS to work are called system apps and are stored in /system/apps. Other apps - called 3rd-party apps like Google Play Store - may be stored in /system/priv-apps.
BTW:
If you manually install Google Play Store APK then it installs to /data/app directory - as expected.
