Heya,
I've been using my OPO for 2 months now and suddently it started charging slowly. I'm on stock (everything) with original cable. I've tried other cables as well (to power outlet & USB). Charging the phone whilst having it off doesn't seem to improve the speed of charging.
During the night, it charged 6%. Impressive stuff. Anyone with ideas?
Seems like its for sure a problem. You're sure that the cable isn't getting loose and is not charging right? Check about phone, does it say Charging (AC)?
Yes, it shows the charging symbol... I'ma shut it down for a couple of minutes and hope it heals itself. Plan B will be to put it in the fridge overnight.
You're using the original charger as well? Have you tried any other chargers that are 1.8 A?

Also if you can try your OnePlus charger and cable in another phone.
Why put it in the fridge?

Yes it's the original. I've tried 1.8A micro USB charger from my Blackberry and 2.0A from SGS5 as well with no result. But I got it working (explanation below).

The charger worked fine with my Blackberry and SGS5.
The fridge thing was just a joke
However, the solution was really unexpected. Everything was stock, so I decided to root it and try a custom rom/kernel. I switched to Mahdi and AK and then it started working again. 10% in 30 minutes. So I reverted to stock and everything is working now. Now I'm just puzzled to why this happened in the first place, and if it will happen again...

10% 30 minutes doesn't sound right, mine charges 35% in 30 minutes.
Your batterystats.bin file was most likely bugged.
Should you experience this problem again, delete it. It's located in /data/system/ or use the app battery calibration from the Play store.
Hm.. same problems now again.. 2% in 4 hours. Will delete batterystats.bin and hope for the best.
God damn it.
Yeah, it's a common bug on some OPO. Mine is quite good for charge but my friend's opo got a some problem and one of this is the slow recharge.
Do a full wipe and flash a new ROM or older 11S

Yes, sorry, 38R.
I'm thinking of installing a custom ROM - but I like stock a lot. But this battery bug is preventing me to keep the phone up to date.
I'm relative new to this phone and I don't know all the ROMs. Any advice would be appreciated.

LiquidSmooth is best custom for the OPO.
Or try CM stock and not CM 11 OS (also called CM11S

Thanks a bunch man. Will try LiquidSmooth :good:
Install any ROM except the ones based on Omni.. (like the SlimROMs) and flash boeffla kernel. Keep the AC Charging Current up to 2200A. It says it may damage the USB Cable or charger but nothing ever happened to my Galaxy S3 (on the same kernel) or OPO. It charges extremely fast with the original USB cable and charger. Try it! Worked for all my friends!

i am having same issue.
rooted, runnning Sultanxda's cm12.1 . stock charger and cable, charging at around 500ma :crying:
any1 can help ?
I have bought the OPO 1 year back but started facing the slow charging problem since last couple of months. I think it has to do something with recent CM updates. When phone is on, it charges 3% in 45 mins but when we switch it off and keep for charging it charges 25% in just 30 mins. Strange.

Hi there,
I have a huge problem with my chuwi, I really don't know what happened.. Yesterday I charged it normally while sleeping and found it 100 % this morning. Later I went to buy a new charger (because mine sometimes produces sparkles when connected to a plug) but when we (me and the salesman) plugged in this new charger nothing happened. Black screen and no response at all.
So we tried to use the older one, but the results were the same.
So I wander.. What happened during the night?! This morning it worked perfectly and I really don't wanna think it was this new charger 's fault.
If so, I'm gonna ask for refund in some way.
PS.: when I brought it to the store and we tried the stuff mentioned above, is was turned off. So the only clue about it being okay this morning was the battery icon that was entirely green showing full charge when I unplugged it.
PS2: the new charger I asked for was 5v 2.5a as the old one.
Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance.

My phone was working fine before I feel asleep a few hours ago. When I woke up my phone was about to die. So I grabbed it and was gonna plug it in but then I nodded back off. When I woke up 25min later it was dead. So I plugged it in. And it turned on.
Figured everything was good to go. Well its been an hour or so now and I noticed it is not saying its charging even tho I have it plugged in. It says the battery is at 0%. So I unplugged it thinking it was just a glitch. But as soon as I unplug it from the charger. It shuts off.
I am currently using multirom to run stock rooted and Omnirom. I've been in Omnirom most of the day, so I tried booting into my stock ROM and I have the same problem. Except at least on stock it shows the charging symbol in the battery. Even tho it still says its not charging and is at 0%.
Not quite sure what the problem is. I charged it earlier this afternoon and it was working fine. I haven't made any system changes today. Only did some theme work using UCCW and zip themer. Other then that tho no changes have been made since the last time it was charging perfectly fine.
Only thing I can think of doing Now booting up into fastboot and flashing stock factory images and starting over fresh, since I've already tried rebooting, tried both ROMs, and tried multiple chargers/outlets, including my wireless charger. All to no avail.
EDIT - forgot to mention I am running the latest Franco Kernel on stock side and the latest version of Faux kernel on Omnirom.

Its not charging at all. This is what my screen shows. If you look at the top widget it shows the battery as 2/3 full but says 0%

So to confirm 100%... if you turn the phone off for 30 minutes whilst connected to USB power then unplug it, it will not power up at all? If so, sounds like a hardware fault.
Isn't there a common bug where 2nd roms sometimes wont charge at all using multirom?
Have you try using PC usb to charge it? Just to rule out the phone charger unit defective here..

It takes a while on the charger to resurrect a dead phone (or even for it to look like it's being resurrected).

he said multiple chargers multiple outlets.
I'd get rid of the multiROM and see if that fixes it.
I am using multirom + omni, and I noticed when I drain the battery to zero and charge the phone the battery stays at zero, until I shut the phone down and replug the phone then boot it back up, then the battery returns to normal. Not sure if this is what happens to you too, have you tried?
I have xposed partially installed (no root since I'm too busy to get supersu for now) and I multiboot Firefox and beanstalk if that matters

I did not read all the post in detail but the N5 has wireless charging. Do you have Qi charger? Personally that is what I use less wear and tear on your port. Also you said that it showed it was charging but it wasn't not sure what you meant by that.

When trying to plug my verizon s3 galaxy into usb cable to charge, the charging indicator comes on... but I don't think it's actually charging because there is usually an animation indicator in the top bar that shows it's charging. It's been 3 hours and I'm at 0%. I can power my phone on long enough to see it's still on but it will power off because it's still not really charging (or charging at all?). Unplugged, phone won't power on of course. Plugged in, I just have power on for about a few minutes. I've had this when it was released, so since 2012 I have not have to replace any batteries or cable.
I've tried using a seperate usb cable charger, and same thing. What could be the issue? I want the usb port repair to be the last resort so please help! So here's my plan so far:
-contact cleaner/gas duster (is there a difference between the two?)
-replace batteries.
Any troubleshooting/diagnosis I could do myself to find out the problem? Anything else I should do?
I'm not the most tech-savvy person so please be nice and thorough. Lol.
-----update------
I don't want to do factory reset because I don't want to lose my personal data. My phone now says 8% but drains right away the moment I use it. My laptop won't read it to allow me to transfer pics, vids, other data. I installed a battery current widget witch reads:
3.22V (which is good since the battery is 3.8V)
103.3F internal temperature
and 0mA ----> So this is the root of my problem. Why is it reading 0mA? But very slowly charging to around 8% when powered off?
Try Factory reset. If that doesn't work, it could be the charging port has come lose from the solder/logic board.

Could be one of two things, either the battery itself or its the charging port. I've seen it on my gfs S3 which is up to the latest NE1 ota and she has had it replaced by verizon 3 times already and it's weird because it works fine on a charger in the house but in the car or a portable charger won't work

Haven't tried my car charger.. but doubt it would work since I already tried two different usb chargers. Going to try to do a cleaning with some aerosol duster and alcohol now...
I read something about clearing the cache partition at bootup ... but it doesn't sound like I have a 'software' malfunction, does it?
Thanks for the response. So your gf's was a broken charger port?

No, VZW never really figured out what it was. They just assume it's the phone. But it's been the same issue with each one. It's the OTA update that's causing issues I have a feeling, if only big red knew what the heck they were doing it probably wouldn't even do that at all. You could clean the cache partition. Not sure if it would work, trial and error there I guess

Let's see.... buy decent non OEM battery, $30 and up.
Fix charger port AT LEAST $70 - $150.
Wireless charging kit plus the convenience of wireless charging For $10-$15. I'm definitely gonna do it. Lol.
I've read a gazillion threads on this problem and none have suggested what I mentioned. Hope people will find this thread handy.
Man I love technology. Maybe I SHOULD make effort to understand it better.

My unlearned belief is that it is MM related, however I'm now back on LP and getting skewed charging also.
Here's some MM charging info:
https://www.androidpit.com/android-marshmallow-problems-and-how-to-fix-them#charging
http://www.tomsguide.com/faq/id-3050564/fix-charging-issues-android-marshmallow.html
In my case, something might've happened when I tried to clean my phone's micro-usb contacts--maybe I still had 50% alcohol (that means it contins 50% water, which is conductive) in the phone when I plugged in to charge, for example.

I have not found a sure fix, and will update if I do. The prognosis is not good.
Just went back to stock CM11S, after a harrowing hard brick in which I thought I'd lost the phone, by misusing someone's tool.
Found an unbrick tool that saved my phone and my day:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/tool-oneplusrecovery-tool-v1-0-restore-t2991851
So the phone is now on CM11S, and I don't see anything different charging-wise--I thought it would return to normal, but it hasn't--is slow.
The charge light doesn't come on when the phone is off and charging, but I don't remember if that's normal or not.
Will see how it goes, and post.
Now back on the latest SultanXDA unofficial CM13, with charging acting up as it has been with other roms.

I went back to cm11s stock. Then upgraded to official cm13.1 for firmware. Then installed sultanxda's unofficial cm13.0. Completely charged and drained the battery. Restarted the phone to be sure the battery was completely drained until the phone would not restart. Then I immediately repeated the charge/discharge cycle, twice. Then recharged the phone fully. I believe the charging works properly, that is at the proper speed up to 100%, and the charging status is accurate.
There is one other thing though--at home I use the phone for tethering, which I haven't been doing at my friend's house. I'll see it that matters.
The way I discharged the phone quickly was by leaving a movie running full-time screen at full brightness, but there are prolly other methods.
I'll see how it goes.

This morning like all the morning I wake up and turn on the phone, nothing. No vibration, no charging led. Already tried to press all the possible combination of buttons
I can't tell if last night it was successfully in charge.
Yesterday I used it like normal without during something unusual, no update, no custom fw etc.
I contacted HTC UK, very bad support. At beginning they said to send it back and have full refund, now just repair. Pre ordered on 23 of may, arrived end of June, died beginning of August.
Any helps ?

This isn't the first U12+ nor the first U11 where such a thing happens. Didn't check regarding other devices, but checked with someone at HTC. According to my source there's still some weird bug in an Android core component leading to devices just hanging up, seemingly with no way to restore them to working order. They don't even show a charging light if that very thing happens. But after some time they wake up again, mostly at 0% charge as yours, and start working normally again.

It got to 0% cause it was hanging, and thus discharged. You won't be able to do anything against it as well.
