New firmware certified for Xperia M2 (18.3.1.C.0.21 and 18.3.1.A.0.21) and Xperia M2 Dual (18.3.1.B.0.18)
New software builds have been certified by the PTCRB for the Xperia M2, Xperia M2 Aqua and Xperia M2 Dual. The LTE versions of the Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Aqua have seen build number 18.3.1.C.0.21 certified (versus 18.3.C.0.40 currently), whilst the HSPA+ Xperia M2 (D2305) has seen build number 18.3.1.A.0.21 certified (versus 18.3.A.0.31 currently).
The Xperia M2 Dual has seen build number 18.3.1.B.0.18 certified (versus 18.3.B.0.32 currently). Judging by the change in build number, there is a good chance that these new firmware builds bring Android 4.4.3 or even Android 4.4.4 to these handsets. We’ll confirm once the software starts rolling.

Man, you got two answers above, so answer is that it is very unlikely to happen.
Following other Xperia models and lines, even older Sony Ericsson phones, that are not flagships like Xperia Z series you get one major upgrade to higher version (in our case Jelly Bean to Kitkat), and that's it.
It is not just Sony. Galaxy S3 is stuck at 4.3 even it was flagship, but Sony seemed really slowest comparing to competition, when it comes to software updates. We still have 4.4.2 and LG's midrange G2 Mini was launched with Kitkat and M2 with Jelly Bean, same year.
Now is November 23.??

Mine is the xperia m2 d2305 and i am on the 18.3.A.0.31 global version and still waiting for the supposed OTA 18.3.1.A.0.21 , it's been a few weeks already , shouldn't i already have the OTA ? can i download it from somewhere ?

Don't even try to port, it is veryyy hardd, it needs a lot of android policy modding, I already tried that and failed milion times

I think there to do xperia z lockscreen have shortcuts like LG or samsung lockscreen. widget, I think not much need for android 4.0

Hope I don't have to mess with bootloader to taste kitkat... But that's likely going to be needed, the only way to get kitkat working with stock kernel is that Sony releases kitkat officially for XL, which is not going to happen (soon), right?

Yes, absolutely. Sony will not release KITKAT for Xperia L mostly. So you better unlock your bootloader & get ready to test CM11 as soon as it is released...:good:

I'm from CM and this info just isn't true.
WE DO NOT ANNOUNCE SUPPORT FOR DEVICES UNTIL THEY ARE IN THE TREES.
It's a PLACEHOLDER.
None of the Sony developers inside CM even have a Xperia L handset.
Can we get a mod to deal with this thread.

Great news, a new update has been certified for the Xperia L (C2105) but not C2104 as of now. Could be a minor bug fix or alternatively a region/network specific update. Only time will tell. I still haven't got the previous update and this new one is certified .

From the .26 to .27 update there was an increment of 1, but for the newly certified build it is an increment of 2-meaning more changes made e.g. bug fixes?

When installing on 290 auto brightness wasn't working anymore. Brightness stayed at max all the time. Just so you know this.
