UK 3 network splash screen - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, I'm from UK and got my Z3 yesterday. Lovely phone, however I'm stuck with the ugly 3 splash screen upon boot. Is there any way to get rid of this? Is there another firmware I can flash which will work with my phone? Thanks for your help.

Go in the the general section and there is a sticky thread (at the top) all you have to do is use flashtool and flash one of the unbranded firmwares for your model. This is what I did with my O2 phone. Hope this helps

Hi thanks mate. Brilliant we haven't got to unlock bootloader or be rooted. Do I flash the UK generic ftf file? Does generic refer to network unbranded? Kind regards.

I'm a different mate , but yes, "generic" means "unbranded". To be more specific, flash "Customized UK 23.0.A.2.105 / R9B" and you have the latest without any carrier branding.

Just to confirm, I won't lose my DRM keys, and the camera won't be affected if I flash an FTF file? This only occurs if I root/unlock bootloader, correct? Thanks very much for help

Newbie - debranding Z5

Hi everyone
I have just purchased my first Sony phone, the Z5.
It is on Vodafone UK but has been officially unlocked. I wish to debrand and put on stock Sony android software so remove the network branding. Can someone pleas ehlpe as I have never done this before. I have just downloaded flashtool.
My second question - If I use flashtool to change to stock software, will I still receive OTA updates for future software updates rather than having to use flashtool all the time?
Thanks in advance.
Yes, with official firmware everything will be fine.

Hi to all, sorry if I port afloat this old thread.
I have a Z5 with a MM branded firmware (TIM Italy). I already know how to debrand it flashing another compatible firmware.
My question is: is it necessary wipe all data, also if I flash another MM firmware?
By what I read, I understood that if I stay on the same major update (in this case MM) I shouldn't meet any kind of problem also if I didn't wipe all. Is it right?
Thanks to all

Downgrade E6653 from MM to LP?

Hello everyone! Seems we're going to get root soon on locked bootloader in lollipop, so we can backup the TA partition before unlocking. The question is, can we downgrade from MM to LP without unlocking the bootloader?
You know how google, do you? You can, download the Firmware and flash it via Flashtool.

Yes, I did google. Saw a couple of post about the Z5P, but I'm comming from motorola and they are a little bit special when it comes to downgrade, because of the bootloader. So I want to be sure because I have almost zero exprecience with sony.
Anyway, no need to be rude. Thanks!
You can downgrade with no problems bootloader locked or not as the above poster said flashtool and xperifirm is your friend. I don't have access to links atm

I'm new to this forum so please forgive me. When I bought my Z5 from Vodafone UK, it was running Lollipop 5.1.1 and ran all the apps I wanted flawlessly. Since the update to Marshmallow, ACR and NetVu ObserVer now do not, the developer of ACR cannot work around this so I need to back date the firmware. I have downloaded XperiFirm and Flashtool but can only find 32.0.A.6.200 for EE. I would have preferred the stock Vodafone firmware, but will the EE one do?
any firmware will do as long as those apps work. some branded firmwares have differnt splash screens. thats pretty much the only difference
Thanks for your reply, I'm not bothered about any splash screen but something I noticed is a file named simlock. As EE lock their phones to their network only I take it this file needs omitting?
Regards, John.

Will the US variant of XZ Premium have fingerprint sensor hardware?

I understand that the US variant will not have fingerprint sensor, but does it have the underlying hardware that we can activate via flashing official UK tools/Rom? It was possible with the XZ, so just wondering. Thank you.
Yes, just flash non-us fw and it works again.

Note that Chinese Mainland (CN) FW doesn't have Google Framework, you may try HK or TW version.
The flash tool for XZP is still on developing, keep an eye on https://forum.xda-developers.com/cr...gress-newflasher-xperia-command-line-t3619426

Ok, that makes sense, but she won't be able to access google from mainland China without using VPN access. I'll use the HK version instead, since when comes here next year from Shanghai she'll be able to access google. Will the US firmware have the Chinese language on it, thats what I am really worried about.
Help please

Can you please help me or share a link to where it explains how to flash the proper firmware? I have an xz premium, and I understand your saying the xz flashable firmware will work? It would be nice if I could get the fingerprint sensor working tho. Thanks for your help.

All you have to do is download fw via flashtool, download this, drop the files inside the zip into the fw folder, connect your phone in flashmode and start newflash.exe, it will then flash.
I think that the hardware is there. It's just disabled for patent issues in the US.

[Help needed][OPPO Find X2 Pro] Firmware Downgrade on CPH2025

Guys, I need your help, please.
I bought an Oppo Find X2 Pro, unfortunately the device has a Vodavone Provider Firmware (CPH2025VF_11_A.20) installed, which I would like to change to the current global firmware (CPH2025_11_A.15).
Can I simply flash the CPH2025_11_A.15 firmware over the CPH2025VF_11_A.20 without unlocking the boot loader?
How exactly do I have to proceed?
Any help is warmly welcome!
regards

Where did you buy it with branded firmware?
You can try this firmware (currently the latest available)
https://oppo-uk.custhelp.com/app/software_update_detail/p_name/Find+X2+Pro
Download it to your device's internal memory (download folder, for example) then power off. Power+vol down button until the device boot into recovery mode (or whatever is it called) choose install firmware, locate the downloaded folder. Don't worry, if your device is locked to Vodafone (not sure if possible) then you won't be able to install it.

Sorry mate- no: a Firmware downgrade isnt possible with hunhool´s solution.
We have to find another way to get rid off that damn bloaty provider firmware.
I also wonder if the debranding might cause problems with volte and wificalling?
Can anyone comment on this? :good:
Regards
You could try to make a VPN to Switzerland and check if you get the A.22 by OTA. Don't think so but it's worth a try.

I believe the Japan carrier branded phones have the bootloader locked and unable to to unlocked. As such the only thing you may be able to do is flash firmware from another phone model. Please be warned that some of the carrier branded phones have different hardware features and may not work with other firmware models.
