[APP][5.0+][ROOT] Toggle Network Type 5.0 (2G, 3G, LTE) (xda-exclusive free version) - Android Apps and Games

Hi,
I've developed a widget to toggle (preferred) network types, e.g., 2G, 3G, 2G/3G, LTE, on Android 5.0/5.1 (Lollipop), Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), and Android 7.0/7.1 (Nougat). It requires root.
This is an xda-exclusive free version! If you want to support me, please consider getting the paid version on Google Play or check out my other apps.
Please note: Redistribution of this app is not allowed!
New: Support for dual SIM/multi SIM devices on Android 6.0 and later.
Paid version on Google Play (same functionality): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cygery.togglenetworktype
Device compatibility: second post
Features:
Widget (cycle through configurable list of network types)
Locale/Tasker plugin (set specific network type or toggle to next)
Shortcut (set specific network type or toggle to next)
Custom names for network types (text shown on the widget)
Custom background image or color
Configure text size and color
Dual SIM/multi SIM support on Android 6.0 and later
Device Support
Device support depends on a variety of factors, including your specific device model, Android version, installed (custom) ROM, used root provider (su binary), and SELinux configuration. This app includes options to deal with different configurations of some of those factors. Please let me know if this app does not work on your device.
Notes
The widget is passive. Thus, it has to request root every time it is refreshed. Although the battery impact is negligible, this usually results in frequent (Toast) messages indicating that the app was granted root rights. Please refer to your superuser management app if you'd like to disable those messages specifically for this app.
This app includes a (static) shortcut and a (dynamic) widget. Usually, both shortcut and widget are shown in the same list which is used to add them to your homescreen although this list is commonly just labeled "Widgets". For reference, the screenshots in this post show the widget. The shortcut looks like the app icon and has rounded corners. Please note: sometimes the widget is not shown immediately after installing this app. This is likely a bug in the launcher/homescreen app. Please reboot your device in that case.
Known issues:
Android 6/7: When the network type is changed via this app and then the cell radio system settings are opened, the network type is reset to the one set there. Similarly, the previous issue might happen after a reboot or when airplane mode is toggled on and off.
Android 6/7: Some devices/(beta) ROMs don't work with this app (currently). Please search the thread for more details/user reports.
Network type specific: Depending on your device and carrier when using certain modes, e.g., LTE only, you might be unable to send or receive calls, SMS, etc. This is a technical limitation and has nothing to do with this app. Please keep this limitation in mind in case you are not sure whether you are affected by it or not.
Network type specific: Depending on your device/Android version/(custom) ROM/etc. some network types might be unavailable, don't work, or, when trying to select them, result in a different one being activated instead. Please search the thread for more details/user reports. This is outside of this app's control.
Custom ROMs: On some custom ROMs, the default toggle mechanism does not work. There exists a "custom ROM mode" which uses a different method that works on (most) CyanogenMod ROMs and other custom ROMs based on it. However, some network types are not supported by the custom ROM mode. When trying to set them, e.g., the app freezes. Please disable any such unsupported types via the app settings. Additionally, depending on the device/ROM, setting the preferred network type might work, e.g., via the Locale/Tasker plugin or shortcut, but this app might be unable to retrieve the currently set preferred network type. In such cases, toggling to the "next" preferred network type doesn't work since this app doesn't know the current preferred network type.
Other issues: When reporting any issues please include the following info in your post: Device, ROM and ROM version, exact version number of this app you use (don't just write "latest"), superuser management app (e.g., SuperSU) and version, content of any shown error messages. Describe in detail what you tried to do, what you expected to happen, and what happened instead. Include screenshots/screencasts where possible and useful to show the issue.
Cheers,
cygery

Wonderful. Initial testing seems to work, the network mode in settings change when pressed.
Will this go into the Play Store? Would love to support your effort.

@cygery I recall seeing some hesitation to post Play Store links in one of your other threads. I'm pretty certain that you'd be fine to do so, as long as a free version is included as well (see: BetterBatteryStats).
That said, y'all should definitely pick this one up. On sale as we speak!

Strange.....was looking/refreshing dev's list of apps and this never appeared.
Bought!

Thanks a lot, works fantastic.
If I want to use that with other apps than Locale or Tasker (in my case Lama), what is the Intend I need to use to set the network mode? What is the syntax?
Great job.

Well done - Works like charm - Tasker intergration like a champ ^^ Chipped in by getting it from the playstore. Keep it up ! Cheerz!

PowerToggles
Works great as a PowerToggles custom toggle. I only wish its icon would update to show you what mode it's in right now.
Right now I have to also have the built-in "Data Network Toggle" added, which tells you what mode it's in after you click on it.

Thanks! Google Play indeed behaves strange, it (sometimes?) takes several hours until an app is shown on the developer page although it's already visible on its own page. Now everything seems to be there.
The method I used in this app doesn't work on KitKat or earlier, it was introduced in Android 5.0. Although I'm still checking for another way I don't have much hope because many others have searched and I haven't seen that anyone found a method.

Yes, I suggest that, too. If you really want to do it manually, check Locale's documentation.

The widget does this when you click it or when the connectivity changes. As far as I know, it's not possible to update the shortcut icon. Anyway, I abstained from polling the selected network type in case of external changes - it's just a waste of battery.

Small update (1.0.3.0) which shouldn't affect anyone who downloaded the app from this thread. This update just removed the requirement for telephony hardware from the AndroidManifest. Thus, the app is now visible via Google Play on devices without phone hardware, e.g., tablets with a data modem.

Will wait for this version to appear on Store.
However running the previous version from this thread on my Shield tablet LTE, none of the network options can be selected i.e. greyed out. Is that a problem?
Edit : installed the latest version, all the options are still greyed out. So didn't work on Shield tablet LTE for now.

The defragmentation on boot remove void spaces in the databases in /data/, thus they size is reduced, but the boot time will increase.

Can be inserted a sort of live chat (IRC) that can allow to ppl that using Revolver Part to comunicate in real time for problems or other? lol but also StarTrek Technology was exaggerated years ago ^^ i suggest to insert a plug that allow Revolver's user to communicate to each other in a sub-community reserved for Revolver ROM in this case ppl that have simple problem can ask on chat without re-write same things in the main topic on XDA
directories for downloads for a mod be in /ClockWorkMod/mod/file.zip , them- /ClockWorkMod/theme/file.zip
also these should be configurable and delete the all zips on sd or a selective one in the clockworkmod folder

a market selection, honeycomb market, or stock...
screen calibration
Being able to download the full flash able rom within the app would be nice. Along with downloading updates, I always make sure I have a full version on hand in case something goes wrong.
But because of the "download failed" bug, downloading the flash able full from is all but impossible from my tablet.
If the Galaxy Tab 10.1 ebook reader gets ported over and added to other you will officially be the best person ever gnufabio
Feature Request:
While Its easy to do in CM thanks to the CM tools, I have had to manually change the device name!
Ill be asking this of roach for his Prime rom (come on, I love jumping from release to release checking out the hot-spots before returning ) "Prime Tweaks" as well!
What I currently have to do:
$ su
# getprop net.hostname Android_A100001B6A55CA
# setprop net.hostname RevolverPoweredTF101
In terminal, maybe you could add this somewhere in Revolver parts so I can easily change it from there instead of terminal or some other 3rd party software
market crashes
my market keeps crashin after i open my apps
[edit] fixed by unistalling markte v3.1.5 and installing v3.3.11
i have revolver parts installed but why is my sub-category empty, like for example when i click Mods - their is nothing listed, is that normal? pictures show that their is number of items....
Thanks to anyone for their suggestions, I will keep them present

Its the device's DNS hostname (like the computer name setting in Windows). CM7 has the option to change this on the Settings > Applications > Development page. I agree that this would be handy to include in Revolver Parts.
gnufabio said:

That string is exactly what it says its for the HOSTNAME... thought that was a given
But seriously however, the hostname is the name the device presents to other devices on a network! IE If I go to the network area on my WinBlows PC it shows me the PC's on my network and the names associated with them, IE I see Desktop, Craptop, NetCrap, DorimanxPoweredHD2 and RevolverPoweredTF101
You can also see the hostnames (easier IMHO) if you go to your routers status or lan status page (I use DD-WRT so I see it on the SYS-INFO page), IE I see HOSTNAME : IP : MAC : LEASE TIME
The hostname is a commonly used identifier for devices on a network making them human identifiable (and with 5 Android devices in this household, seeing Android_435knl324hn5l324hnln5l32 a few times with just a different following string each time is annoying as piss... hell you could even make a default host name for when people flash your ROM and only the most picky (*me+some others) would notice... or want to change it to something else
Needless to say, if you decided to come up with a default HostName to use on your ROM's Id support it 100%, BUT make sure you have the option in Revolver Parts to rename it to something else incase someone has more then one or is anal (me) about naming schemes!
Thanks again!
Maybe would be nice a sub-category under Themes called "Battery Skins", or something like that, where to put different skins for the awesome battery-with-percentage mod.
Another new feature that you could add is a simple way to let users share their mods to the community, maybe after a compatibility check etc...
Last but non least you could add a "tips & tricks" section with some usefuls mods, like "change screen resolution" "font size" or as said before to set a custom Hostname and other cool stuff....
Thanks for your great work Gnufabio!

[APP][4.0.3+] SuperBeam | Easy & Fast File Sharing with WiFi-Direct | NFC/QR Pairing

[APP][4.0.3+] SuperBeam | Easy & Fast File Sharing with WiFi-Direct | NFC/QR Pairing
Quick update on 4.0: we've released a new version (4.0) on Google Play. I'll update the thread with features later on. Just a quick note on compatibility: we've dropped support for Gingerbread because it is becoming a huge obstacle towards developing the app. Apologies for inconvenience.
Quick update #2: If the QR scanner is not working for you after the new update, please DM me as soon as possible. I can see error reports on Crashlytics but no one reached to cooperate in resolving the issue.
SuperBeam is the easiest and fastest way to share files between Android devices using WiFi Direct (or tethering mode for older devices). Devices can be paired using QR Code scanning (with the included scanner) or NFC if available (just like Samsung's proprietary S-Beam).
Features:
Share files between devices using NFC or QR code scanning.
Blazing fast transfer speeds using WiFi direct.
Switches to hotspot mode automatically for devices that doesn't support WiFi direct.
Can use existing WiFi network connection between devices.
Share single or multiple files of any type (photos, videos, zip files, APK's... You name it!)
Share with devices that do not have SuperBeam using web interface.
Works with all 3rd party file managers and photo galleries.
Light and dark color themes.
Google Play link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.majedev.superbeam
Get more, upgrade to PRO:
Get rid of ads.
Change the default saving location to any directory on any available storage (like external SD card).
Send and receive files to/from your computer through SuperBeam app for PC, using QR code or manual sharing key (get it from http://superbe.am) *
Send entire folders and preserve their hierarchy.
Pair devices using manual sharing key. This is particularly useful for devices that do not have a camera nor NFC (like Android TV's).
Share files with more than one device at the same time.
Send unlimited number of files through web interface, with the ability to download them all as a zip archive (with folders too!).
Share SuperBeam APK for those situations where there is no internet connection around. Makes life easier for your friends!
Automatically disable mobile data (3G/4G) connection while sharing with other devices, to prevent them from eating through your data plan.
Be SuperAwesome and support the future development of SuperBeam. This is just the beginning, and we have much more to surprise you with!
* Currently, SuperBeam for PC does not support WiFi Direct. Hence, both your computer and your Android device must be connected to the same WiFi network in order to share files.

A note about WiFi direct
SuperBeam creates an access point using Android's WiFi direct API's. This essentially works like hotspot mode in old devices, but it is guaranteed to work on newer devices like Nexus 7. Moreover, this mode allows older devices to connect and receive files without having to support WiFi direct's peer-to-peer connections and, more importantly, it gets rid of the annoying "accept connection" prompt.
Also, please note that this mode is currently supported by Android versions 4.1 and greater. On older versions, SuperBeam will fallback to the older hotspot mode.
If sending fails
Sometimes, WiFi direct doesn't play well when sending from some devices (especially those that have custom ROMs). Please follow these steps to switch to hotspot (tethering) mode if WiFi direct is causing you issues (on the sending device):
Open SuperBeam scanner.
Tap options > settings.
Tap Advanced settings > Preferred direct method.
Choose Hotspot.
Close SuperBeam and try sharing again.

Seems to work well so far.
Transferred a gallery album in quickpic from n4 to n7 that included a large video. Worked perfect.
See how often I use it. Thanks

Thanks for reporting back. I'll update the first post with N4 compatibility.
This is a new release that supports devices which do not have NFC. I've updated the original post with new info.
Any chance to get a version without ads? (pro version, donation, etc)
I`m sick of those ads.....to annoying.

I can't sell paid apps due to regional restrictions (I'm based in middle east). I will add an option to disable ads in the next release though, and it will be available to everyone
Update:
I partnered with a friend in the US to handle payments. Now there is a paid PRO option available on Google Play. All users who disabled ads will not see them even after the new update.
Hi, I actually liked the way the app was showing that help screen before you added QR code support, kind of a reminder on how to use it.

For new users, a dialog is displayed when the QR scanner is launched showing exactly that. I didn't want to annoy old users with this dialog, that's why it won't be displayed for those who updated the app (coming from versions < 2.0).
However, many users thought that the QR scanner has to be opened on the receiving device when they are using NFC. So I'm releasing a new update today that will show this dialog for everyone when QR code scanner is opened for the first time.
Just found this app right now. Looks promising, thanks for your work.

I've tried between two Nexus 4, both running 4.2.2 roms (aokp and cyanogen). Both got wifi bugged after a successful shared file with wifi direct. We had to reboot to get wifi working again, otherwise wifi went off every few seconds.
Don't know if that's a wifi direct bug on android or the app because is the first time i use it.

Many users reported that SuperBeam works very well with N4.
WiFi direct doesn't play well with custom roms though. I tested it on GNexus ParanoidAndroid rom and it didn't work at all, while it worked very well on XenonHD. Same goes for my Asus Transformer: it worked flawlessly on stock, but caused reboots on Team EOS rom (aosp based).
Could you try using a different kernel, that might help?
Thank you for your feedback.

Note: How to use Battery Doctor on Android 4.4 KitKat
Android 4.4_r1 removed the possibility for apps to request for the BATTERY_INFO permission, This is the commit https://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base/+/3714141d287c965ea3451831dd5167f63f8db87b%5E%21/
The reason (issue mentioned) for the commit is unknown.
This permission and the access to batterystats - formerly known as batteryinfo - service is vital for use cases (and apps) dealing with analysing awake and wakeup causes (battery drainers) as this services gives access to partial wakelocks and alarms.
I would like to request a rollback of the mentioned commit. See issue 61975
Here is a Solution from XDA forum by Xposed and download Version 6.2.0, Android 4.3 or older is well, you can flash older ROM

Hi
Everybody. Please give me a feedback!
I have installed the latest version and as soon as I activated One power guard my phone was rendered useless. The phone instantly rebooted and reboots as soon as I try to do anything. I can't even uninstall the app because as soon as I touch the screen I get a reboot again. I really wanted this to work as it's plain to see the developer has put a great deal of time and hard work into developing this. It may be that I am getting these issues because I am using it on a pretty dated device (Galaxy S i9000) I hope that these issues can be sorted and it proves to live up to it's promise.
Works fine for me, a lot better than Green Power which I used before. No issues so far.
CM 10.2 based ROM on a Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE
Wishlist:
- plugin for Locale or Tasker to support automatic change of profiles based on certain conditions
- more in-app information about settings ( http://www.twofortyfouram.com/developer)
- better localization
- allow for I/O-settings, Ril, vm, ... - not just saying that it does something, but tell what exactly does it do. Maybe in settings screen, not the toast message

I think 3072K is the best in most of the ROM, Here is an app that it can test sdcard speed https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ales.veluscek.sdtools
I usually set to 3072K.
In General, It is easy to consume battery if The speed rate is set smaller.

Do you mean to make a plugin that Tasker can change profiles of OPG? if so. I think this is a good idea.
Some in-app information is writed by blog, Because a lot of information.
Yes. it is very important. This needs some help from enthusiastic users.
OK. I will open some settings source.
I've been using this from the beginning and have always found it a great help. For me, one of the best things about it is that you don't have to be an expect to use it and can learn as you go along. Good to see a pro version out now. I have a question and a suggestion
Firstly, my license file is backed up but when I upgrade my device, is it easily transferable or is it device specific?
My suggestion; I should like to be able to set the app to change profiles at set times automatically, without having to use an external app; is this something you would consider?

1. the license file can be used when you upgrade your device, but they can't be used by other devices. the license files can not be shared.
2. I see. OPG Pro will support as quickly as possible, I was going to release this feature on the 5.0.0 version, but Spend a lot of time in the development of other functions.

but when it comes to cm and aosp....man I have to say your app is mindblowing...
Yes people if you want to boost your battery stand by time.....this is the app!!
5 STARS
Brilliant ! I'll give it a try ! :good:
It appears the app is not saving the settings on stock Xperia Z1 .257 rom... I hope this can be fixed?
But... still loving the app and decided to support it
Keep up the good work!
Hi onexuan,
Bought your app to support your development!
However immediately found some bugs in it v5.0.3:
1. if I set "nothing" in floating window, it will still show on desktop
2. Optimize SDCard in each configuration always minus a few Kb upon saved, eg. in Daily Mode, I saved it at 2072 K (not sure why I can't scroll to 2048, very unfriendly scroll method....) and then saved. The next time I go into Daily Mode, I will find the value to be 2030 K and saved again, the next time I get 2000 K and so on.
3. Why it's always "Not Configured" in other modes (not the one I applied), since I already configured and saved the config. I prefer you have it labeled as "Saved" and the current config to be "Applied". Does this make more sense?
4. When I exit (by keep pressing back), seems like your app won't exit properly, is the foreground app should be close and the "service" should be running in background instead? Just my 2cent.
5. After I upgraded, The "Upgrade" wording still on the left panel, my suggestion is to remove/hide it from paid user, what do you think?
6. Can it auto detect my governor, as I'm using Devil's kernel which does not have say Powersave Gorvernor then I do not know which one I use, can I simply use the default governor of Devil's kernel? Does it have same effect (Powersave, Daily Mode, etc) if not using the recommended Governor?
FYI I'm using it on my Note 2 (N7100) with Supreme ROM v4.0 (JB 4.3 TouchWiz based, deodexed)
Hope my info helps! Thanks in advance! :good:
ESET .. I ignore this
Looks like after the second click I do, anywhere on this app, after setting a mode, the app crashes and freezes the phone, making it reboot.
I9505, FoxHound 3.4, Android 4.3, KT Kernel.

_
Important Information
A nandroid/Ti backup is recommended before trying the app.
Some devices/ROMs face a soft reboot when density is changed. There's a test in the app to check this. If density change indeed causes reboot, density is ignored in per-app profiles.
If your screen becomes unusable after setting a resolution, wait for ~15 seconds. It should revert to your default resolution.
If that does not work, reboot -> wait for 2 min (for the service to start) -> reboot again -> wait for service to start.
If that too does not work (I certainly hope that you won't have to do this), issue the following commands in adb shell (using a pc):
For JB 4.3 and above:
Code:
wm size reset
wm density reset
wm overscan reset
Below JB 4.3:
Code:
am display-size reset
am display-density reset
Also please note that uninstalling the app won't restore default display settings. So please switch the service off first, if you want to uninstall. Also tell me why you uninstalled it.

Thank you all for the amazing response! 10000 downloads at the end of 1 week! (XDA + bitly link)
Thanks to XDA Portal and Phone Arena, and other tech blogs, for featuring the app. It means a lot, to get this kind of exposure for one of the first apps of mine.
A bit of background
I have a Nexus 4, and it's display started to develop problems a few months back. The nav bar area stopped registering touches at all (though ghost-touches were experienced quite frequently). I managed with pie controls and similar apps for a while. But more recently, this area began to increase, and almost 50% of my screen doesn't respond to touch now. I was looking for a software solution to make the phone usable till I can replace the digitizer and screen of my phone. Then I stumbled upon an adb shell command, wm, which could do a temporary fix for my touch screen issues. I thought I'd make a GUI for the functionality offered by the wm command, and the end result is what you see in this thread.
What Next?
I'm planning to implement per-app profiles, and automatic density calculation for the next major version of the app.
Suggestions are welcome.

It should work with M too. I don't have a device to check that right now. Maybe I'll test it out in M emulator as soon as possible.

forgive my ignorance but is this just an easy way to change the (or what was) "ro.sf.lcd_density=XX" in the build.prop or is there something special to this? I realize there's more to it vs the build.prop edit, but it does kinda/sorta the same type of thing? not discrediting the feature...Just curious Thanks again!

Actually, it's an easy way to issue the adb command wm (or am before JB 4.3).
Check this SO question for more details on wm command: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18500611/android-how-to-use-adb-shell-wm-to-simulate-other-devices.
I started building this app because parts of my screen stopped working, actually. Then I thought, it could be useful more generally.

Just switch the service off using the switch in action bar. If your display has somehow become unusable, follow instructions in OP, under the heading "Important Information". If you have uninstalled the app, resetting can be done using the adb commands mentioned there.
First of all, Avast Mobile Security detects your app as suspicious and advises uninstalling it immediately. I hope there are no malwares
Btw, about the app, as soon as I gave it root access, my device hot-rebooted and got stuck in a bootloop. Then I switched it off and restarted it, device started optimizing all the apps (just like after fresh rom install). Everytime I open the app my device reboots

Um that's bad. Well, you are free to examine the source if there's any doubt. It could be because app requests root, or permission to get to know call state changes, so that when a call comes, display can be adjusted to default resolution (this behavior can be configured in settings).
As for the hot-reboot, I wonder what the problem is... Can you uninstall the app and try issuing these commands directly using adb, and see whether reboot happens then?
Code:
wm size WIDTHxHEIGHT
wm overscan LEFT,TOP,RIGHT,BOTTOM
wm density DENSITY
Replace the Upper caps words with required values.

Hey thanks for that! I'll definitely add this. Meanwhile, there are still some hard-coded strings in the app (like button texts etc), which I'll move to strings.xml, and update the project soon. Will it be asking too much to provide translations for those as well?

Introduction:
AdClear is a non-root ad blocker for Android devices. There's only one version of the app, and it's free. We released it at the end of December and are looking for feedback and help in making AdClear the best it can be.
Features:
Blocks encrypted ads
Works with Wi-Fi and cell data
Blocks ads in apps
Selective app filtering
Support for multiple browsers
Non-root
Log of blocked ads
Saves bandwidth and battery
Increases loading speeds online
How Does It Work?
AdClear is non-root, but it works on rooted phones just the same. AdClear creates a VPN on your device to filter out ad traffic before it reaches you on the web or in apps. The SSL certificate gets in the way of encrypted ads and filters them in the same way. This means the ad blocker can run in the background while you browse in whatever browser or app you want to use.
Who Are We?
SEVEN Networks actually has a pretty storied history on the mobile market--just in the background. We became pioneers in mobile messaging by inventing push-notified e-mail in the early '00s. We sold this feature to carriers and companies like Blackberry to put on their phones. In the same vein, we deployed e-mail to more than 550 devices in a time when OS platforms varied from phone to phone. As Android and iOS became the two primary platforms, we switched gears by creating Open Channel, which improved mobile network traffic by eliminating the need for constant syncing. We sold this technology to multiple carriers and even released a version on the Play store.
Recently, we've obviously taken sight of the developing market for ad blockers, and we realized we have some unique tools to bring to the table. Open Channel's fantastic resources gave us the ability to block encrypted ads and a huge data pool with which to build AdClear. We released AdClear on December 28, 2015, and we've been updating and upgrading it ever since.
"How Do You Make Money?"
The truth is, we don't right now. What we are doing is creating a source of analytics from our users in order to fix bugs and improve the app. This includes your device, android version, battery life, and app usage. You are assigned a UUID that completely separates you from your device and data, and there is no feasible way for us to personally identify you. If you'd like, uninstalling and reinstalling the app will give you a completely new UUID that cannot be connected to the previous one. We only use this to rapidly analyze and change our product.
In the future we may sell anonymized data to carriers, but that's one idea of many. That's part of what we want to know from you. This is a unique business plan for the ad blocking market. Would you be more inclined toward an acceptable ads or freemium model (premium being opting out of analytics)? Our main priority is to provide a high quality experience based on user suggestions to YOU at a high development pace. After a post we made on reddit got a bit of traction, we added a log, selectable app filter, and on/off switch based off of suggestions within the next few days. We want to get that type of feedback, that help, from XDA, and we're excited about the DEVDB platform. We've included the feature request and bug report sections and we hope that they are used! Either way, we're excited to have address these things with you in the comments.

Ok, I have installed and uninstalled this three times. Each time, I get that it is installed properly. But, I keep getting a triangle warning in my status bar that says "network may be monitored by an unknown third party" . I have checked the ok to have it as a trusted credential. But, I don't think it is showing up in the trusted credentials in my security setting.
I don't see the C O credential. Why is it not installing the credentials? The ad blocking does seem to be working.
I am rooted, with Verizon's xt1254 phone using resurrection remix rom right now.
I also use the "mother of all adblocking" script (right word?).

The credential should be in the user tab under your security credentials. The third party notification is something we can't fix unfortunately. I believe it has something to do with the VPN being on. As far as your ROM, we have no real testing done on how we work with ROMs, so that may be an issue. That's something we want to have enough info on in the future to address. Please let us know to what extent the app is working and we'll see what we can do.

What issue were you having with the download? In any case it should be working from any download source. Could you give us your phone model, os version, and AdClear version (if you install again)?

That's awesome to hear! We welcome any feedback you may have!
On screen off, vpn disconnects and doesn't reconnect on screen on. Adguard works fine though.
I have this on my Huawei P8 and I also get the occasional notification that vpn disconnected when screen is off. No mention of reconnecting but ads are still being blocked after this happened so I guess it's still working.
Is this apps work like adaway?

Hello, thanks for installing.
The notification is, at this time, normal because of the way Android handles the certs. It can be removed with root optionally but we can not do it on our end.

Thanks for the feedback,
I am very interested in this and have not seen this behavior before. We have attempted to replicate the issue but are unable. We currently do not have a Huawei P8 to test on but any more info on the phone would be greatly appreciated as well as steps to replicate. Replying with Android version, phone model, network you used (wifi or 4g, etc.) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the question,
If by like AdAway you mean both block ads then yes we are similar.
Where we differ is we do not require root to block the ads. This means we can not modify host files like AdAway does. Instead we block with and on-device VPN than filters all traffic through it and removes the ads before they are in your apps and browsers.

EDIT: seems my colleague got to it first!
There's no steps to replicate. I installed the app through Amazone app store.
I just put the phone down and after some time I notice a notification which states that vpn is disconnected. I can see this notification on my laptop as I have Airdroid installed which mirrors all android notifications to the laptop. So far all notifications came in while on home wifi.
Huawei P8 GRA-L09 android 5.0.1 on wifi. Haven't seen it happen yet while using 4g.
Vpn disconnects with screen off. And I meant adguard which uses the same vpn principle as adclear but their vpn doesn't keep shutting down. Which is why I've reverted to using it instead of adclear.

Our ticketing server is down right now, but we do know we've had issues with a Huawei phone running on 5.0.1 and its being worked on. We could possibly have a fix in our next update. I'll update you further when that server comes back online.

We understand why that would make you switch back. If you don't mind, could you provide us your phone model, os version, and connection (wifi/data) that this happened on? Thank you.

Well it's a relatively obscure Amazon fire phone with kit Kat, using Wi-Fi. So I can see why I might be having issues.

That's unfortunate. Could you give us your os version?
One thing you can try is to uninstall adclear and delete the certificate (if you installed it), then reboot and install again. I'm not sure if you tried to install multiple times, but that sometimes causes issues with the VPN.
Edit: Also, did this happen on wifi or lte/4g?
