Hi
I was using Swiftkey in the past and I got used to the keyboard layout for Arabic. However, it have gotten slow over the past months. So I decided to switch to Google keyboard.
So, I was wondering if it is possible to create a custom layout for Google keyboard based on that one (I am interested mostly in the location of the letters)?
If it is possible, I would appreciate it if you can direct me to a guide or give me a step-by-step solution?
Thanks,

Hi,
I have read several old threads about this topic, but in non was a satisfing answer. So I decided to pose the Question more direct.
Under Cyanogen 4.2.2 it makes no difference what so ever what I select as system language the Keyboard is always qwerty and the wordsuggestions "english".
So is there a way to change it, that I don't get, without loading and Market Keyboard.

Well, I had the same problem. I just installed TouchPal which is a free, great default keyboard replacement.

Hi All, I've tried the new CM but it was too unstable for me, however, I would love to be able to install the keyboard that comes with it on my stock nexus-s...
Is that possible?
can somebody post the apk (or an update.zip with the relevant apk and libraries)?
Thank you!
Search the Market for Gingerbread Keyboard
Thanks but I already have the nexus s with the gingerbread keyboard, the keyboard in the mod is slightly better since it supports hebrew and allows to move between languages by swiping the spacebar button...
that's the functionality i'm looking for
My friend recommended https://market.android.com/details?id=com.klye.ime.latin , I think that is what I needed
So I've tried Android Keyboard as well as Samsung's and GO keyboard, but I like Android Keyboard the best. Is there a way to hit a single button (or a button and a choose from a pop-up, either way a "simple method") to use other languages with Android Keyboard? I've been googling this for days and everything I've found was people saying "yeah this works but it's meh." So if anyone knows a language input for Android Keyboard more like what I described above, let me know
I'm looking for Chinese and Japanese in particular.
You try sogou input method
I use slide it. You use the swipe method or touch. I use a dvorak layout for my keyboard which is basically another language. There is a dedicated button for switching back and forth between whichever languages you have installed.
Sogou was 100% in Japanese/Chinese so I have no idea how to use it and the pics didn't look like a keyboard plugin
Swipe is awful imo :/ I prefer to just type. If anyone knows any good swype keyboard that's actually really good, I'll try that too but I just want a Japanese and/or Chinese (Simplified) plugin for Android keyboard
is there any korean too?

Well, there are hands of Chinese/English keyboard developed by Chinese company. Unfortunately few of them offer enough downloading/handling support.
Basically looking to use dvorak on the hardware dock keyboard. Any suggestions on how to do this? Not a huge issue... but I certainly type faster on that layout.
Seems like there isn't anything "out-of-the-box" available
However, I did find this that supposedly allows for altering the onscreen and physical keyboards to allow for alternative layouts.
Additionally, it seems that its for the original Transformer and for one to make the appropriate changes, they would need to know the proper mappings. I myself am still looking for a different keyboard layout (specifically English International) that doesn't come on the software. Maybe, eventually, the community could put together a repo of alternative keyboard layouts.
It seems that Jelly Bean supports changing the keymaps for external keyboards, and Dvorak is already included. I cannot post links, but you can easily find the webpage searching for "user-installable keymaps".
Let's hope that it works with the dock when the update comes out.
Posted a thread in the dev forum regarding my findings of the current way keyboard layouts are done along with a hacky way to change to Dvorak if you want to try it.
I'm glad that JB is going to kill this entire fiasco mercilessly.
I haven't ordered the dock yet (the few I've seen tip over when opened the whole way and were labeled TF201) so I haven't tested this. But the post by guildencrantz in the following thread seems to make sense. Just needs a rooted machine.
Please report back.
Trying to get dvorak keyboard as default on asus tf700
I have as asus tf700 and the docking station. I need a dvorak keyboard. If I have to use qwerty, I will take them both back to the store, unopened. I have heard of apps that do this, but do they make like dvorak is the default? I would like this to work with both the screen, and the docking station.
I also read that asus has started to have android 4.1 jelly bean available for this and that it has dvorak. I went to the store and updated one of the tf700s with android 4.1, went to settings and then language, but could not find dvorak, only a few other languages.
Does anyone know how to do this?
Hello,
I am planning to buy an Asus Transformer Infinity, and as an Armenian language user, I simply do not imagine my life without Multiling Keyboard . But I'm not sure whether this keyboard will work with the dock or not. Will I have the same typing experience with the physical keyboard of the Asus Transformer as I have on-screen (layout etc.)? Has anyone tested it (not exactly the Armenian layout, but just the app with the dock)?
Most importantly, I want to make sure that I will be able to switch between English and a second (Armenian) with the keys combination, as in the case of the default Asus keyboard. Even if this is not a supported feature by default, maybe there are some solutions/fixes for this? I'm ready to root my device or tweak some system files and settings, if it will help.
The question is, there is no other app that supports Armenian input language even half as well as Miltiling Keyboard, that's why I would like to ask the Multiling users here to share your experience with me.
Thank you in advance.
I have been using multiling with the dock without major issue, but with English UK. The only problem I find is that the " ? ! etc characters will not be in the same place. However, you may be able to learn the new positions easily? I'm sorry that I'm not familiar with Armenian to know if there are other critical special characters you will need.
I keep meaning to investigate if it's possible to remap the characters on multiling. I believe it is a better soft keyboard than the Asus one, or the default android 4.1 keyboard which is also installed by default. I'm looking forward to trying the android 4.2 default keyboard.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply, Gudders . Have you tried to switch languages while you use Multiling with the dock, or you use only Engilsh UK? If it is not too difficult, can you please check the Armenian language in the Multiling settings in order to have two selected languages, and try to switch them with the dock (keys combinations, spacebar...), or at last just try to type something Armenian with the dock?
Thanks!
I have been trying to figure out the same but for Spanish. So far I haven't been able to get special characters to work from the dock keyboard. I haven't been able to get things like alt-134 to work for writing a ñ. I waited for 3 months for Asus to release a latin keyboard and they keep saying it is coming soon but it still is not available. I finally just bought an English version but so far haven't been able to figure this stuff out.

I am happy to try for you. I can download and install Armenian. You can switch using shift and spacebar in search, chrome, kingsoft office, gmail and some others. I tried to get a screenshot, but I can't seem to upload it to XDA (browser issue I think). The only problem I had was with the stock browser. I couldn't get it to switch, or type Armenian characters. It may just need a restart. It does type the charactes and switch using the search bar in the stock browser, but on google page or XDA reply box it wouldn't.
Hope that helps.
