Ok, usually you have to completely power off the device. Either long-press/hold the Power key till the display is (ans stays) black, or remove the battery for a few seconds.
If it does not help, please post your question in the Samsung Galaxy Mega > Galaxy Mega Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > Help thread.
It's originally not exactly for your device, but as it's very similar, you may get help there too.

[Completed] Needing help with Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360

Model: Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360
Running Custom: Hyperion 9 GM Final Build Final Rev + Update-01
Situation: So I've successfully flashed the new ROM a week ago. It was great, I must say, I really loved it. But yesterday, when I was on my way home, I found out that the phone wasn't starting up, even after I held the power button for more than 10 seconds.
I assumed that maybe the battery got drained, so I charged it as soon as I got home. The problem is, it's not charging. I even left it overnight to charge only to discover that it didn't.
I tried three different chargers and I even tried charging it by connecting it to my laptop but none of it worked.
I tried pressing the Volume Up+Menu Key+Power Button but to no avail. I can't even access the Download mode.
I can't open nor charge my phone and the buttons give no response at all.
So, any idea what the problem might be?
P.S.: I just joined today so if I broke some rule/s, kindly inform me so I could apologize and fix my mistake.

Hmm ... deleting the custom ROM is not enough.
You have to flash back the stock firmware.
Here is a thread about it: [How To] Reset your phone in order to return to Verizon(Updated 12/11/2012) .
In case it doesn't work and your phone is bricked, you can try the following: [GUIDE] Debrick your bricked SCH-I535! [BOOTLOADER/HARDBRICK].
If nothing helps, you should register on xda and post in the Verizon Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum.
Good luck !
Thank you. Thread closed.

Hello, and welcome to XDA!
If you are wondering what happened, Samsung blocked root on stock kernels.
The solution is a work in progress (bubbled up today), but if you register for an account, and go/subscribe to this thread:
> Android Development and Hacking > Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > How to root Samsung Galaxy J2 : SM-J200G
...you will get the up-and-up and hopefully a solution soon. You may even want to say hi, and mention you also have this problem.
Hope this helps, and good luck!
well..I culdnt wait much out of tension. so I did revert back to stock recovery by updating the firmware with Samsung kies.
