[Completed] [Q] [ROOT] Galaxy Fit GT-S5670L Gingerbread 2.3.5 - XDA Assist

Hello! I'm Mary and a noob. I own a Samsung Galaxy Fit GT-S5670L with stock rom Gingerbread 2.3.5. I bought it in Argentina (I live here) so the phone is Latin America region. I want to root it. Problem comes when I follow this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1606380
I get this error (status 7):
Code:
getprop("ro.product.roduct") == "GT-B7510
Then installation aborted.
There isn't any application on the phone except Titanium Backup, which I can't use since I'm not root and I've installed Superuser.apk but uninstalled again since the root process will install it again.
I want to root the phone because I need to erase all the gargabe apps that come with it, like Claro apps (cellphone service provider, I think it belongs to Telmex) and other old unuseful apps.
I've searched here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1300413 Not my GB version and the thread ends no where.
Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1453325 Not my phone nor my GB version.
Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756825 Again not my phone or my GB version.
For more information:
My Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-perf-CL700532
[email protected] #1
Extact number of compilation: GINGERBREAD.UBKPF
Base band version: S5670LUBKPF
Android version: 2.3.5
Model number: GT-S5670L
Can you guys point me to the right direction?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

Here is a similar thread about rooting your device: How to root Galaxy Fit S5670L GB 2.3.6?.
It's just about a slightly different GB version.
You have alrady found the correct device specific forum.
Please post your question in the rooting thread, or in the Samsung Galaxy Fit GT 5670 > Galaxy Fit GT 5670 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum.
P.S.: The error (status 7) indicates that you either have a wrong device name in your build.prop file, or you are trying to flash something which is intended for another device (GT-B7510).
If you are sure that the files you want to flash work on your device, you can manually modify the updater script file in the zip file you are trying to flash to skip the device name check.

Thank you, thank you!! I'm root!
I've already asked at Samsung Galaxy Fit GT 5670 forum, should I erase that question? Or maybe reply myself with the link to the thread you just provided me?
About the error (status 7) probably I was trying to flash something that is intended to another device. The problem for me was the letter L in Galaxy Fit GT-S5670L. I opened the update script and there wasn't a Samsung Galaxy Fit GT-S5670L on the list of devices. I never thought that a single letter could complicated so much this rooting process.
I thought about adding my device to that list but then re-think about it. I don't want to brick my phone.
I'm happy!! I'm root! FINALLY.
Again, THANK YOU!

There is this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1484547
but for now, there isn't a 'rooted kernel' for the more recent updates that you got OTA or via Kies.. so check my comment .
about reverting to the older stock rom. You might want to wait for ICS and a rooted kernel before going through the trouble of rooting.
WIth E120K, have you tried using the LTE service already? I am really wondering whether the LTE service work outside of Korea, especially in Australia. thanks
LTE on it works great. Does anyone know if there is a kernel for 4.0.4 for the E120K. I have searched all over the place to no avail.

There you will find all you need including links to Tegrak's recovery and kernel builds for UF29 firmware.
There's no kernel and recovery for the latest -- UK08 firmware (it isn't JB There are a few requests on Tegrak's blog for a kernel and recovery for the UK08 firmware so I doubt we will wait long - Tegrak is always on the ball

[Q] root for dummies - Samsung Galaxy S GT-19000

Hi, I have scoured the web for information but several hours later I am none the wiser.
I would like to root my device in order to optimize its performance. I am super confused about: cf-root, mobile/pc odin, android version, etc. I still have no idea what is appropriate for my device. :crying: Please point me in the right direction.
I have found may threads out there with very detailed instructions, but I can't figure out if that's what I need. I'm apparently on Gingerbread, but what do I need now? The Icecream, the other one?
Reason for rooting: phone too slow with so many apps loading themselves in the background. I want to be able to prevent all these [expletive deleted] apps from loading themselves automatically. I also want to remove the stock apps I don't need (but can't now remove). I'm tired of factory resetting every other week to improve performance.
Ultimate purpose: phone, sms, whatsapp, news. That's it. I don't need 3d porn or anything. My needs are extremely minimal.
Thanks for any pointers! :good:

Thanks Sewrizer. I'd rather brick the phone than pay for the service. I already have a more recent phone, so this is more of a second device. It's just that I like the typing better so I haven't completely stopped using it. I guess I'm sort of relishing the idea of an experiment with it as well.
Do you have a link to instructions for the above? If it works for your friend, it's good enough for me.
Unless I hear something back, I'm getting ready to try this:

thanks a lot.
which cf-root?
Thanks Sewrizer. As it happens these are the instructions I started with, and from which a lot of confusion arose (I can't post urls yet).
The first link is to Odin3 v1.85, but I have found Odin3 v1.87. Not sure if there is a later version. It says somewhere that the latest version is best.
The second link is to a series of posts with many download links. Somewhere down the page it states that if you're confused, then:
First, go to Settings -> About phone -> Build number. It should say something like FROYO.xxJPy. It's primarily the JPy that we are interested in. Try to match that with a download link available in this (and the next few) posts. Some of the downloads dont just have JPy file name format, but are called xx_xxx_JPy.
Let me explain that. Samsung isn't always very precise in naming/marking their different (leaked) firmwares. CF-Root's are modified kernels, the filenames explain in more detail which exact firmware ROM the base kernel was taken from, for those experts who understand.
If you are not one of those people, go back to the JPy thing. The "y" in JPy is 0-9, A-Z. If they run out of numbers, they use letters. So A would be 10 (9 + 1), while Z would be 35 (9 + 26). Find the one that is closest to yours, if yours is not present, and flash that one.

Well, my build number is of the form GINGERBREAD.zsjv6, which doesn't fit the pattern described (I don't see any JPy, I see jv6), so which version of CF-Root should I download?
GT-19000. Firmware Version: 2.3.3. Baseband Version: I9000ZSJV6. Kernel Version:2.6.35.7. Build number: GINGERBREAD.zsjv6
Thanks!

Looks like that tutorial was only good for stock froyo users. Since you have gingerbread you must have updated your phone. I think you may have to downgrade from 2.3 to 2.2.

Reinstall Rom etc

hi
I am a total newbie in the android field. I have a Samsung grand 2 which I got rooted with cynagen mod which had pre-root installed . the baseband version is G7102DDUANE2 & kernel version is 3.4.0-2575608 se,[email protected] #1 Tue Mar 4 09:41:59 KST 2014
and build number is Gen.NxtG7102ZTUANC1. this version is not working well and one or the other app is always " unfortunately stopped working"
I would request that if some one can suggest some other good rom for this phone and the process to flash the same. Need to keep the phone rooted as need to install some apps later. also any way I can remove this previous rom and do clean install type of thing ( as we do for computers) . I would just like to delete the whole thing and install a totally new rom and work on that.
thank you.

I don't have any direct experience with your phone, so I would just be guessing.
Usually, you just have to try them out and see what one works best for your uses.
Some ROMs will work good for some and not others, I don't know why. That's why its difficult to say what one is better than another.

[Completed] Adding additional system language to Samssung Galaxy 5 with the official ATT ROM

Hi
My mom has a new Samsung Galaxy S5 phone bought from Amazon. It came unlocked with the ATT ROM.
The problem is that it comes with a handful of languages none of which is Russian which is what she needs.
So now i am trying to add Russian as an additional system language.
There are a number of apps that claim to do that - MoreLocale2, MoreLangs and Locale & Language to name a few.
For non-rooted phones all require to grant them CHANGE_CONFIGURATION permission through adb.
All also work in the same partial way - some of the menus change to Russian but most don't.
At this point i started considering installing another stock ROM that natively supports more languages but since i never did it, i'm afraid to try that without being sure how to find the correct ROM and that this is indeed the correct step. Needless to say, my mother will not do anything to update the OS so i want something that supports automatic updates.
So my questions are:
1. Is it possible to add another system language in the existing ROM? so it will truly replace everything. If so - what is it?
2. If not - what (extremely preferable stock) ROM should I install?
Thanks a lot for your help!
Phone details:

Android: 5.0
Baseband: G900AUCU4BOF3
