...So there are unlisted games in the play store... - Nexus Player General

It may have just been me, but I had no idea there were unlisted games in the play store. I accidentally do a search in there and up pops 3 to 5 games that aren't among the regular dozen. They're seemingly not android tv optimized, but they're there none the less.
Downloading deer hunter 2014 now, gonna see how it goes.

You can install any app that otherwise wouldn't be blocked due to lack of a feature (such as touchscreen)
All the tv store does is not give an easy way to navigate to an app not whitelisted on the tv store.
Just go to the web site, and tell it to install chrome, it should install but it doesnt actually work with the remote (i've tested this on my ADT1, the NP should be no different)

Yeah i've already got chrome and side loaded a few apps. I was still just surprised to find hidden apps. I would buy modern combat 5 but mc4 controls lag.

Where to get EA Games like Worms and NBA Jam?

I got Worms from the Google Play store, but it doesn't seem to have gotten me the Xperia Play optimized version - there is an optimized version, right? Where do I get it?
I'm also interested in NBA Jam, but want to know where I should get it in order to get the proper version. I'd prefer the Play store though, if there is a way to get it to give me the proper version. I'm on an r800at, unlocked bootloader, running Gin2Jellybean - and I was able to get the proper version of the Lara Croft game from teh Play store.
I also tried picking NBA Jam from the game launcher which took me to the flexionmobile/gstore, and I found a copy of Worms on there, but it doesn't seem to be the optimized version either.
Thanks,
~Troop
NBA JAM sounds broken according to all of the R800x reviews https://play.google.com/store/apps/...SwxLDEsImNvbS5lYW1vYmlsZS5uYmFqYW1fbmFfd2YiXQ
but they do mention the buttons working
NBA Jam from the play store works fine on my R800x... unless some update killed it... I haven't played it in like 2 weeks...
NBA Jam works fine on my Play, purchased it in Play store, I did have Worms which I purchased from the Xperia game store and it was optimised, but I have since reinstalled my OS and lost the APK. Not actually thought to try and redownload it. Should imagine it would work fine though once logged into EA.
I got NBA Jam from the Play market and it works great. Shows up in the launcher and the controls work! ^_^
Now, if only the same were true of worms, guess I'll pester EA! >_>
~Troop
i wanna got the idea 2, but is there anyone who can give an answer?
I don't think there is an optimised version of Worms.
NBA Jam from Google Play works great.

I haven't tracked down an optimized version yet either, can anyone verify that an optimized version exists? or does not exist?
Also, what's the best way to contact EA to ask about this? Their site didn't seem that helpful in providing an easy e-mail support link.
~Troop
I bought my EA Games from their own Store called Flexion Store. But i´m a R800i user, don´t know if it works for R800at, R800a, R800x users.
I can also confirm that NBA jam is working fine on my r800x.
As far as Worms, I think I had stumbled upon this, but hadn't really watched this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpdiT20g9AY
It does appear that the controls work (though the video is poorly lit), though that is a foreign version of the game.
Still don't know where to find it optimized though...

[Q] Gameloft Games Not Compatible?

Don’t know much about how compatibility is determined on the play store weather it’s up to the developer to say a device isn’t compatible. But I noticed on launch day nothing was really blocked due to compatibility but yesterday most of Gameloft’s library disappeared for me was curious if anyone was able to try Dungeon Hunter 4 & Order and Chaos on the shield.
Anyone have insight on why certain apps are being blocked?
It's a new device and normally will have to wait for game updates before certain company's list the Shield as compatible (its the game developers that enable compatibility lists on their Google dev accounts).
I do know Modern Combat 4 will work with controls on Sheild as its recently been updated with HID support but whether it's available to download is another story.
For now your probably better off sideloading games from another droid you own (if you do).

App developers can change their games compatibility. Gameloft, in general, doesn't support controller on many games, so I wouldn't be surprised if they started marking them as incompatible.
Do you happen to have a rooted phone or tablet? If you do you can download the games to that device and back them up with titanium backup. Then you can export the backup and import it to your shield if you have rooted your shield. You might be able to just pull the apk out of the titanium backup and sideload it on the shield if you have not or don't want to root the shield.
I did this exact thing with the game Avadon to get it on my Kindle Fire when I had that. It isn't pirating since you own the game and a lot of the time games will work on unsupported devices this way. Once you have them installed they typically show up in the market but will still say unsupported and not allow you to update them.
I would imagine without controller support those games would need an app like Gamekeyboard and root to emulate touch controls with the physical buttons. I am currently using that app to play Final Fantasy Dimensions with the Shield. The only thing I cannot do with the physical controls is browse the inventory out of combat. In combat and walking around I can use the physical controls fully. It's pretty awesome.
Evo_shift, how did you root the Shield? Thanks!
Edit: nvm, saw the thread.
Yeah, I was wondering why I couldn't find Modern Combat 4!

Don't need root to sideload from one phone to another (or tablet or shield).
ES File Explorer supports backing up apps to .apk without root permissions. From there you just copy the APK onto the shield, launch it in a file browser and android will install. No root required.
As for final fantasy. I guess no out of combat inventory is annoying, but at least you do have native touch.
My brother had a kindle fire, we used the ES file explorer method and since then have rooted the device, added the play store and a custom launcher. Shame that you have to do those mods but once you have its definitely a bargain. Missing bluetooth and camera etc, but its cheap and runs most things pretty well we've found.

Wow, cool. I had no idea something like that wouldn't require root.
The lack of bluetooth is why I ended up selling the Fire when the Nexus 7 was released. It did everything I wanted it to do just fine and I got it during one of Amazon's big refurbished sales and was my first tablet so I didn't want to spend a lot because I wasn't sure I would use it. Finding out I wasn't able to use a bluetooth gamepad was a real bummer to me. Now, my kids have basically taken over the Nexus (and they are only 4 and 2 years old but there are nice educational apps). The shield is my new toy that they will not have access to and basically replaces my Nexus 7 since I only used it for gaming
I contacted Gameloft and all they said there's nothing in the works, but when there is they will announce it. Lame

Not all games allow apk back up without root. There will be a little lock icon for the ones that are protected. I think all Gameloft games allow sideload, since the game checks your Google account during the first time opened to validate. Most games released in the past year (at least) still check the device if compatible, so even sideloading does not mean the game will actually work when you open it.
For modern combat, turn off mouse control via quick settings and the game works great.
im still waiting for my shield, does wild blood or nfs most wanted work?
I can map the keys through game keyboard if they can run on the shield

NFS Most Wanted works (touch only).
Throwing this out there. If you like racing games, be sure to check out Asphalt 8. It works and is compatible with the Shield controller.
I install the dungeon hunter 4 and use the tincore keymapper to map the screen button and work like champ.

Are you able to set the graphics on very high on DH4?
Asphalt 8 is the first one im going to play when my shield gets here tomorrow.
i heard tegra 3 games should work/ these work on htc one x
so if anyone has:
Dungeon Hunter 2
9mm HD
would like to know the results.
Gangstar vegas works with touchscreen + high graphics mod from xda plays awsome
Im going to try mapping keys to it.

Google Play Games freezes or won't login on some games but not others...

I have several sideloaded games that support Google Play Games online saving and achievements. Some games work fine while others don't. If it doesn't work it either gets stuck after you select the email for the Play Games account... OR it will look like it's loading fine and the game begins, but the option to log in is still the same.
Games that work fine:
Lara Croft GO
FRAMED
Geometry Dash
The Room 2
Dark Echo
Games that won't work:
Monument Valley
God of Light HD
Prune
Badlands
Republique
Leo's Fortune
Trials Frontier
It's a crap shoot of which games will work. It's not my connection because I can connect to uPlay in Trials Frontier, but the Play Games account will check for permission to login, get it granted and then not log in.
I don't know what the issue is but if someone could help me that would be great. I don't really care all that much about achievements, but those cloud saves are great because I travel globally for my job so I have two phones (LG v10 for work and Nexus 6p is my daily while I'm in the states). Those cloud saves (when they work) are extremely helpful because my work phone is the Verizon LG v10 so I can't backup app data without it being a huge pain in the ass since the Verizon version hasn't unlocked yet (and may not ever be).
I've thought about patching with Lucky Patcher, but I don't know what I'd patch.
Suggestions welcome....

Google Play White Box

Hey,
I'm absolutely loving this phone but I've been having one issue lately, I never played games on phones before I got this beauty but I'm becoming addicted to them now, when I try to sign into a game using Google play I just receive a white box with a loading animation and I can't sign in, the two games I'm having issues with are shadowgun legends and ark, exact same issue but you can't play ark at all without connecting it to Google play, I've tried everything I can think of;
Updated Google play services
Updated google play
Flashed latest zip from OP
Tried beta Google play services
My phone is rooted with twrp and I've ran out of ideas the problem either started at some point or it only effects certain games because I have managed to sign into some games but I believe it stopped working at some point rather than effecting certain games

Adding to any app to Game enhancer

So I'm wondering if anyone has any idea on how to add games and apps. not shown to the game enhancer. Not every app is able to be under it and I'm not sure of the restrictions.
It seems to function similar to the Samsung game tools app. Which on my s9 I had to keep below a certain version in order to keep certain apps added.
Is there an older version of this app. Or a way to edit it to get non supported apps on it

HAve u found out how to add any app to the game enhancer????
I would also like to know how the game amp app works???? Just as far as I know, it only works on single-player games with a storyline. If you play competitive games, then this is equivalent to a cheat. I've been playing LOL for a long time now, and I couldn't develop in this game in any way. So I decided to start playing against more vigorous opponents at higher ranks. Then I bought a highly rated account here https://www.lolfinity.com/ . After two months, I noticed how I began to play better for a higher-level game. Now I have my own team, and we sometimes perform in tournaments.
