I cracked my screen on my nexus and I need to get a replacement screen. Looking around, the price seems to be $120+
Can anyone recommend a good source at a better price?
so i dropped my phone from a height of less than 1m and the screen is shattered. anyways, i dont want to explain what happened but i need your advice.
now the lcd and touch are working but the glass at front is shattered
I searched online and nexus 5 has a fused lcd with glass and something like that so i cant buy the front glass seperately. ebay has replacements for about 180-200$.
is there any cheaper way to fix the screen? no warranty btw
I think there wont be any cheaper way. You don't have waranty¿

There a cell repair shop in my city advertising N5 screen replaced for $220.N4 for $170.
Not saying use them, just that for that cost, it should include installation.

Even if it is the right screen, it most likely isn't oem quality.
Easy to think you don't need a case. Until you drop a nice phone then you become a believer after that.
I just went through the same thing. Found a new oem frame with LCD and digitizer on eBay $148 shipped. Installed it today in 30 minutes and its as good as new! Thing is I have a case on it 95% of the time and the ONE day i take it off for a break it gets dropped.... Ugh!! It is what it is...

perhaps in the Nexus 6 google will add a bezel to absorb some of that shock from a flat face down drop
Like in the Note 3 here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXX_35xy8Rc
the iPhone 5s has the same FLAT design on the screen without a bezel like the Nexus 5 which gives all the impact to the glass itself
Adding a case of course adds a bezel from the case itself witch takes the shock instead of the glass itself.
See the Note 3 Drop test face down no case 100% naked above in the video @ 3:12

Did you have this in a case? If so, which one?
One could always get a warranty from Square Trade, for about $125. But then there's also a $75 deductible on all claims, so you end up having to cough up $200 total for any damages. Makes more sense to just do it yourself. On a side note I'm surprised Google doesn't offer any kind of extended warranty when purchasing this phone.
I cracked the screen on my N5 and planning replace the LCD and digitizer together. The LCD is fine but I've read separating the two is very difficult so I'm just going to suck it up and buy the whole fused unit. My question being is their a noticeable difference in quality in the replacement units? I have found the from $88 up to $150. If they are all the same I just go with the best price.
Example: this one on ebay says its OEM for $88 http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-LCD-Dis...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item3a899bddcf
Amazon has an OEM for $145

Just looking for anyone with experience buying a replacement screen and how the quality was.
I would buy the one from the bottom because it comes with the frame and i think it's legit because read the reviews. It is also the white screen version of the nexus they have. Read the reviews

Hello, I smashed my N5 screen and needed a new screen + frame to replace it , there are many retailers on-line that sell them but was not sure about their quality so was wondering if anyone out there could recommend me one.
Price is not that much of an issue I just want one that is official or as good as the official.
PS: I live in the UK.

Just pick a seller on Amazon with a 95% + rating
Having bought one from amazon and one from eBay, I'd say its not worth it. Both were about $120. One had severe bleed and later got washed out, the other had glossy black sides and no adhesive. Ended up sending to LG and it came back like new for about $150.
Etradesupply.com best for replacement parts
I'm the first owner of a brand new Nexus 5 and have had the phone for quite some time now however it has only been used for a good month so instead of it sitting in my cupboard gathering dust, I thought it would be a good idea to move it on.
What's the resale value like on these?
It has the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and there are no faults whatsoever. All buttons work, screen is perfect with a screen protector and comes with a genuine Nexus 5 Bumper Case and all original packaging and accessories. No scratches, marks or scrapes and I am located in Sydney, Australia.
I've had a look at eBay but prices and value fluctuate quite a bit so it's hard to get an accurate figure. Is it worthwhile selling or should I keep it as a backup phone?
Your best option would be to look at Swappa.com. You can use your XDA login there.

You won't get a whole lot for it. A 32gb N5 can be found for around $160 new. If yours is a 32, then it's probably worth around $130 since it was used for a month. A red model will get a lot more.
Mine is a 32GB Nexus 5. I honestly thought it would fetch a bit more than that but thank you for letting me know. I am going to be posting it up on eBay and possibly on Swappa as crachel has recommended. If I can't get close enough to that price then I may just end up storing it as a backup phone.

Great! Thank you for the link. I might have a go and post it up on eBay too.
