Just download the factory image and unpack the bootloader image. If it re-locks, which it shouldn't, but if it does, just unlock it again as you did when you first unlocked it.
To flash the image, use command prompt (Windows) and cd into the folder that the image is in, then do "fastboot flash bootloader bootloader_file_name.IMG"

Problem is that I don't think anyone has made a flashable version because flashing with fastboot is really easy...

Ummmm....please learn how to read, and don't troll my thread. It is wholly unappreciated, and extremely unacceptable....

I would also be interested in this. I am fully aware and capable of using fastboot and adb commands, however I travel for a living and I only have my phone and tablet with me, so a no computer solution would be nice for some people.

You would need a flashable zip of the bootloader to use Flashify.

Flashify can flash .IMG files. Pretty sure it doesn't do bootloaders though.

Yeah, figured it couldn't flash a BL, not sure it can be done as it needs to go Into boot loader mode over recovery. Recovery has it's own kernel to boot up, as for boot loader I think it's a different method that boots into that particular option. Saying that, I could be wrong, never really had any need to look into it in all honesty.

If you absolutely need the update bootloader, you could try flashing the image in recovery, but I feel like that will brick your device.

I would be interested in this as well.

What exactly is the point/advantage of having the latest boot loader? I'm on lollipop 5.0 rooted, Franco kernel, and latest radio running the same unlocked boot loader that came with the phone. Would it benefit me in anyway to fastboot flash the latest boot loader?

You, cant flash anything without custom recovery or root, and most importantly the USB and Computer. Anyways, to flash bootloader HHZ12D, which is the newest one you have to download the factory image from the Google Dev website, which is 556mb, once you extract it the file will be there named bootloader-hammerhead-hhz12d

Can anyone answer my question about the advantage to updating the boot loader?

Listen,
if stars are lit
it means - there is someone who needs it.
It means - someone wants them to be,
that someone deems those specks of spit
magnificent.
And overwrought,
in the swirls of afternoon dust,
he bursts in on God,
afraid he might be already late.
In tears,
he kisses God's sinewy hand
and begs him to guarantee
that there will definitely be a star.
He swears
he won't be able to stand that starless ordeal.
Later,
He wanders around, worried,
but outwardly calm.
And to everyone else, he says:
'Now,
it's all right.
You are no longer afraid,
are you?'
Listen,
if stars are lit,
it means - there is someone who needs it.
It means it is essential
that every evening
at least one star should ascend
over the crest of the building.

Useless.
Back on topic, forget about updating bootloader through a recovery or flashify. When you get access to a PC, then update the bootloader.

all i know, is its needed to flash CM12 unofficial at this point, so there's one reason

I know you can flash a .img directly in TWRP, but I haven't tried for the bootloader.
Also, flashing CM will usually flash the bootloader + radio and maybe even the recovery anyways?

Ok I am pretty busy this weekend, how ever below is a few files for you guys. I know some doesn't belong here but since I nabbed them I figured I would throw them in the post also. Now since I am not familiar with the process of flash recovery with the htc unlock. If someone would be kind enough to post the commands, it would save me some time. How ever be warned this does not have the wimax stuff in it. As it has been a good while since I played with a shift 4g. In turn I almost forgot all about the wimax stuff.
Any way here goes.
Stock Recovery: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24065431/Kindom_Stock.img
Cwm Recovery ( Not sure of the version right off but synced sometime last week): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24065431/kingdom-testing_recovery.img
Stock Radio (Not sure of version, but is from the ruu for you guys): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24065431/radio.img
Then for kicks h-boot 1.22:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24065431/hboot_1.22.0000.img
I have no idea if it will work, but don't see why it won't at least boot. Since I don't know what issues you guys had to begin with. Not sure what the recovery may have issue wise. Let me know if it boots and if keys are mapped correct. Functions you can test though be warned to do so at your own risk.

[Q] Is there a way to completely wipe HTC One XL?

Ok... so, I'll admit it, I messed up my One X. Was trying to put CM10 on it, got stuck on the blue, circular boot screen. Tried several fixes from the forums, but nothing worked. One attempted fix even ended up writing over TWRP. Now all I can get is HTC boot screen (complete with red wording beneath) and occasionally the CM10 screen. The fastboot screen says "tampered" and "unlocked".
Here's my situation. AT&T is sending another phone. I have to send this one back to them, and I just want to make sure that they can't figure out I was trying to install a third-party ROM. Is there a way to completely wipe the device altogether so that I just won't even try to boot?
If not, I'll just take my chances that they don't know what to look for besides water/physical damage and won't charge me full price for the replacement.
Any help is appreciated.
Your device is in a completely fixable state but ok...if u want to make it so your device doesn't turn on at all flash a Rom called ice cold jelly ...if youother wise the best you can do is have it say relocked and they would know you unlocked the bootloader...
don't flash ICJ, just relock bootloader and ruu.
if you have no physical damage why are you getting a replacement phone?
Did you flash boot.img?
And how about you not ask how to defraud att because you don't know how to flash and fix a botched flash.

I did flash boot.img. It just never moved past the CM10 starting animation. And honestly, not super familiar with fastboot three days ago... fairly familiar at this point. But nothing seems to get this thing to work. Please tell me what to do!
(BTW - I only called warranty at the advice of an AT&T employee in the store. I'd love to just fix my phone)
Twrp 2.3.1.0, wipe everything, flash boot.img in fastboot, and flash cm10 and gapps in twrp.

Ok, great. I've downloaded the TWRP recovery image and the Goo Manager APK... now how do I use Goo Manager on a device that won't boot up?
You can't BC its an app.. Download tarp off the official site, a quick Google search brings it up first shot... Once downloaded, drop the recovery img into your adb and fastboot folder.. Enter fastboot USB on your phone. Now right click on your adb/fastboot folder and choose "open command prompt here"
Once cmd is running, type fastboot flash recovery <---- type in the name of the twrp img you dropped in

Exactly right! If you screw up your phone, take responsibility for it! Don't make somebody else pay for your failure.
Do you even read before you flash rom's? clear red letters. This could brick your phone or even worst if you dont know what you're doing
Research very much before doing anything, that's how I started

Completely agreed. The notion astounds me (and disappoints me also) that the OP was going to send the phone in for a warranty replacement simply because they didn't do the proper research and learning before modding the phone. And when the condition was completely and easily reversible. If the screen comes on with this phone, it can be recovered.

CWM

What is the best way to install CWM on my TF300T, I am on the 4.2 bootloader, and I tried to put the CORRECT JB 4.2 version of TWRP 2.5.0 and it is like a split screen and will not function. Some time before that it asked for a password when I booted the recovery. I just want to start fresh with Clockwork Mod I guess.
Please point me in the correct direction.

If you searched you would have seen all your questions are answered in the stickies. Also you would have seen twrp is recommended over cwm due to cwm bricking devices. I'm sure you would prefer that not to happen.

Update to the most recent boot loader. I'm trying to tell you. You have to use twrp. Cwm bricks the tf300t while flashing ROMs. Everyone advises not to use it. I don't even think there's a guide here for it since its too much of a liability. If your getting a split screen you are doing something wrong. Reading everything and doing everything exactly right is the name of the game here. The tf300 is way to easy to brick. If your having problems just installing a custom recovery your best to just stay away from flashing on this device. You have to pay attention to boot loader version and firmware version or you are going to get errors. Your lucky you haven't hard bricked yet.
I know what I'm talking about. I didn't just fall off the turnip truck.

This is defiantly one of the most sensitive device to do everything on. Asus wasn't to friendly. Its like they want you to brick. And my bad about the rudeness extreme lack of sleep has made me very irritable.

Indeed flashing cwm is another way to brick the TF300. Lucky you didn't flash it.
The problem is that the latest bootloader changes the partition table on the TF300 - it makes /system larger in order to accommodate the larger Asus ROM. The issue is most of the legacy recoveries including the non 4.2 twrp and cwm don't understand this and thus the device becomes bricked as the partition table is now messed up.

Rooting my nexus 5 (questions)

So I am waiting for my nexus 5 to arrive (hopefully by end of this week or early next week) and I am pretty sure I want to root it. Coming from a rooted s3, there are just way too many advantages of Rooting that I cannot give up. So I have a few questions:
1) how easy it is to relock the bootloader for warranty purposes? Has anyone had to send back their rooted phone to Google and been successful?
2) has anyone here unrooted their phone successfully and sent it back to Google for warranty?
3) if I root but do not flash a custom rom, will I still be able to do Ota updates?
4) will simply uprooting the device (with stock rom) cause any unstability issues?
Thanks!

generally, if its a hardware issue with your device, google will accept rooted devices to fix/replace. if its a software issue, theyll just send it back. ive sent a nexus phone and tablet in for replacement last year, both were still rooted, both still had custom recoveries, custom animations, custom roms, and custom kernels. they gave me no issues about the exchange.
Oh that's great to hear. Then why is known that unlocking your bootloader voids your warranty?
That's my biggest fear. If I unlock the bootloader and then have a hardware issue and cannot relock the bootloader, Will Google refuse to fix it?
Thanks for all the replies! I will check out those topics and videos.

generally, if its a hardware issue with your device, google will accept rooted devices to fix/replace. if its a software issue, theyll just send it back. ive sent a nexus phone and tablet in for replacement last year, both were still rooted, both still had custom recoveries, custom animations, custom roms, and custom kernels. they gave me no issues about the exchange.

LG will not procede the same way in country`s where you can`t buy the N5 i`am afraid and will say your warranty is voided because of rooting the phone.

Fear tactic for the unfortunate contract phone buyers.

That's my biggest fear. If I unlock the bootloader and then have a hardware issue and cannot relock the bootloader, Will Google refuse to fix it?
Thanks for all the replies! I will check out those topics and videos.

if you buy the phone from somewhere else, it will void the warranty, but its easily locked with "fastboot oem lock". but through google, as long as its a hardware issue, they will take care of you.
I ordered the phone from the play store (in canada) so I assume all will be good.
Also to the link to an app to the play store, how exactly does that work? It seems like the perfect solution so why don't more people use it?

Bootunlocker works great. More people don't use it. because they don't know about it. It's also not an app you're going to use everyday

Additionally, it only covers a few phones (Nexi).

That makes sense.
Can't wait to get my nexus! It said that it will ship by 21st...so I should be getting it the week after. I will probably root it right away before I start installing all my apps

May aswell. Just make sure you read all the sticky threads first and stay away from toolkits

If I do not install a custom recovery, can I still root?
Im thinking of just using this as I only want root access and do not need all the features from a custom recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2507211

You can using CF-AutoRoot, but it's all a bit one-click which removes your learning curve and invariably ends with you bricking your device, so lets go the custom recovery route please

Yup, download the latest TWRP recovery, plave it i the fastboot folder and rename it to twrp.img. Place the superSU.zip file on the phones `s sdcard.
Boot into bootlader and type in cmd: fastboot boot twrp.img, twrp will boot (not install) and you can flash the superSU.zip file and reboot.

Unroot

I'm RMA my nexus so I tried to flash stock thru wugfresh kit but it gets stuck and won't do it . so I remember I did a back up as soon as I rooted my phone so I restored that . I unrooted thru the superuser app its self , I went thru advance options on the root kit and flashed stock recovery and then relocked my phone.
My question is if that's enough to send it back? Will they be able to tell I rooted ? After I relocked it it said it reset the flag as well so I guess that's good .
The reason I use tool kits because its easier and I'm nervous to try it without a tool kit.
Thanks

Not sure why it would t let me edit...
Also can I use my back up that I did with the new phone that's coming in?

If you're on stock rom, kernel, recovery with a locked bootloader and "false" tamper flag, you're good to go!
Can't help you out with the toolkit problem as I don't use them and I feel it does more bad then good! :silly: You yourself aren't able to make out what part went wrong with wug's toolkit whereas if you have downloaded the stock factory images and did it manually, we could help you out with the error on that particular step!

Yes, you can but make sure you don't restore the EFS.. If you do. Then your new phone is SCREWED! That's why I never recommend anyone restoring backups of different phones!

I went I to recovery and it's the little android with the triangle so I'm sure that's stock correct ? And here's a pic of the phone info ,im thinking its stock also
OK I'll won't restore it just to be sure. Thanks for the help .
And yes it said something about resetting tamper flag when I relocked boot loader and now it won't show a lock when I boot up so its locked now.

Yes, everything looks peachy!
If you're not sure whether the tamper flag is reset or not.. Head over to bootloader and use this command : fastboot oem device-info
If the tamper flag is set to "true" then you haven't reset it correctly. If it's "false" then it's all good!
BTW, why are you RMA'ing the device?

Hey bro in the near future try not to use tookits for toying around for with these phones!! "Nexus" It's a lot easier to figure things out the fastboot way and cmds. As the other user stated they do more harm than good:silly: Good luck with ur RMA:good:

Trust me when you learn this way it's a lot fun.. And in the process you come to know a lot about your phone:good: It's fun flashing things! But you need to know what your flashing and what it's doing on your phone..
