I recently bought Xiaomi mi4, I was having issues installing MIUI v6 version and rooting it, only to find that its a China Unicom 3G version of mi4. The problems I have:
1) It does not have MIUI recovery
2) No menu in updater to load a new ROM. Everytime I try to load a ROM or CWM recovery via the android recovery it gives be an errror: "Error: not a valid OTA package, missing scatter." I have also tried adb but of no avail.
3) and the biggest f***up is its just 1 GB for apps in internal storage. The total is still 16GB but the partition for app is so small.
Is there anyway to unlock the device so that I can install a dev version of MIUI?
Thanks!!
from where you bought the phone?

I bought it from a local shop. I did test it on "http://order.mi.com/service/imei" and the website shows being purchased on august as China Unicom 3G version of Mi4. I have test it with Antutu, CpuZ, and miui anti fake check all says its not fake.
i just orderd my 16GB china unicom 3g from china, but i will take around 1 month until i will get it.
I hope i wont have the same problem.
did you try miflash?

With no MIUI recovery, no MIUI updater utility, and the blatant lack of storage space I'll have to agree you got a replica device. Take some screenshots and post them up of these;
Notification drawer
Settings
Apps installed
About phone
Android easter egg (tap on android version)
Tap on internal memory 5 times, if it doesn't bring you to a menu it's another sign it is a replica.
Thanks!

Also if you have a suction cup and camera, take the plastic back off and a picture of the inside of both the phone and plastic backing.

for "Android easter egg (tap on android version)": it just says, nothing to do here, you are already a developer.
for "Tap on internal memory 5 times, if it doesn't bring you to a menu it's another sign it is a replica." : nothing happened.

I tried it but the phone says the package is invalid, so re-downloaded and got the same.... and here is the interesting part when Android Emulator runs it fine. :crying:
Hmmm, and what happens when you hit the update button there at the bottom of the about phone page? Scary part number one is no MIUI recovery, big sign. If it isn't MIUI or Clockwork I'd be skeptic.
Also, did you have a suction cup handy?
can you take off the back cover?

When I hit the update button, it now says it I have the latest update, but I did get an update last Saturday and was able to update from build 21 to now 34. I don't have suction cup right now, but I did open it a while back and its different since there is no black plastic thing on the back. I will post the picture late today.
It sounds fake, but might be running a version of MIUI, maybe. Let's keep hoping it isn't fake though, be optimistic about it. Worst case let's hope a return/refund is possible.
I got another idea:
Settings->about phone-> update
hit option button and select " reboot to recovery"
or
download the latest MIUI rom and copy it to your phone.
then Settings->about phone-> update
hit option button and select " select installation pack" and choose the new rom.(at your own risk of course - i did it a lot of times)

There is no option menu in Settings->about phone-> update or updater app. I downloaded "Mi Su Updater app" form Mi Market, but that does not have a "elect installation pack" option as well. So I installed Quick Reboot and from there rebooted to recovery tried installing few MIUI ROMS v5 and v6 but I get an error: "Error Installation failed, not a valid OTA package, missing scatter"
Can you post photo from recovery?
Try download latest developer rom from http://en.miui.com/download-240.html , rename to update.zip, put it to root of internal memory, reboot to recovery and try update.

Well, depending on where you live and how many people might want that phone if you can't get your refund/return done you might be able to make some money back selling it. Hell, I'd probably by a device like that just for kicks xD fool my girl and drop it in front of her xD she'd die

Quadrant scores in v2.0(Screen Capture in original Chinese post.
Basic Info:
Android Version:2.2.1
Baseband Version:ZHKB4
Kernel Version:2.6.32.9
Firmware:ZCKC1
ROM Features:
Preinstalled:
Gmail
Android Market
TouchWiz 4 (or 4.5 in v2.1)
Other Features:
No Camera Sound (Just mute system volume to do it)
Deodexed
Zipalign
Rooted
Ext4 (Only in v2.0 or higher)
Advanced power menu (Including Reboot, Reboot to Recovery and Reboot to Download Mode)
Replace your CWM with an internal SD version
Filp to mute sound
Pick up phone to decrescando
Added Data on-off option on status bar (Up to 6 controls)
Numeric Battery
Bugs:
Can't charge your phone when your phone is shut down. (Happened in v2.0 or higher.)
You will get bootloop if you install v2.0 of this ROM directly if you are using the external sd version of CWM (I believe most of you have installed this version). So install v1.2 first. Please refer to installation guide.
A few users of this ROM said once they installed v2.0 and reboot, all contacts stored in their SIM card were all erased! But I had never face this problem.
Complete installation guide: (Highly recommended to follow 100%)
Please make sure CWM is installed!
Download v1.2 first and put into /sdcard (If you installed external sd version of CWM, put into your real sd card, it does't matter if you have already swap your internal sd and external sd card, just put into your real external sd card)
Boot into your Clockwork Mod Recovery
Choose install zip from sdcard ==》 choose zip from sdcard ==》Then select Catro_ZCKC1_V1.2_CWM.zip to install. (Notice that if you want to select anything, please use MENU button but not HOME button!)
After the installation is complete, reboot and you will now have the Catro ROM v1.2.
If you want to continue to install v2.0, just keep on follow me.
Because v2.0 used ext4 file system, converting to ext4 used to format all user data (sd card is not included), if you want to keep your own data, please follow my steps: (If you don't want to keep your user data, please skip.)
Go to CWM and choose backup, PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH SPACE IN YOUR INTERNAL SD CARD. (Once you installed Catro ROM v1.2, your CWM will automatically replaced with the internal sd version.)
Download v2.0 and put into your internal sd card.
Before you flash your v2.0 ROM, please take out your External sd card from your phone first. (Because I experienced that if you choose "wipe" option from CWM internal sd version, your external sd will also get wiped! Better to take out your external sd before you choose wipe from CWM)
Flash v2.0 in your phone via CWM (This time will be a bit longer for CWM to install, be patient.)
After v2.0 was installed, go back to CWM and choose "restore" from previous backup.
Then Flash the update package (Catro_ZCKC1_V1.x-V2.0.zip) to regain Numeric battery function.
Installation of Catro is now complete, you can download the attachment and update to v2.1 as well, but the TWlauncher 4.5 in v2.1 was written in Chinese, so I suggest you'd better to install the English one by your self.
Remarks: Because it is a ROM based on Asia Firmware ZCKC1, although there are English provided, but the addictive options in advanced power menu (Reboot, Recovery and Download Mode) were in Chinese. This could make you guys a bit inconvenient, but just remember their order is okay. Reboot option is right after Power off, followed by Recovery, Download Mode is the last one.
Download:
Catro_ZCKC1_v1.2.zip
Catro_ZCKC1_v2.0.zip
Catro_ZCKC1_v1.x-v2.0.zip

Well, there are already 3 different ROMs released in China. This Catro was the last one (but also the best) The others are not quite popular in China either. So I think the first custom ROM for i9003 actually is in China.
Chinese are fast... But rest of World never know what's going on there due to language and political policy problems. For example if you search custom rom on google then you will never find Chinese search result but they will tell you xda only.
Google is patriotic baised US company. But time now changing.

Actually China is way advanced. Korea and HK have had android since the Huwawei latest model's kicked in, Tbh? The Huwawei model's are really epic, They're responsible for most 3G USB Modem's that major telecom services use. Also the Huwawei android version is very stable and with tons of epic features, Have you seen their contact transfer system? It's like Bump, But way more epic.

UPDATE: The phone is good, but after i rooted i forgot to set permission for something and i stuck it in a bootloop.
It got fixed. A few months after i broke the charging part and it was fixed, but for some reason it still didn't chare. It got fixed after a few weeks and I got it back. The phone is in great condition.
The time it was kinda broke i used a Nokia Lumia 520 and a Huawei Ideos X1.
It's great to have a Dual Sim phone.
Sounds good to me. I've just ordered one as a cheap backup phone. I was't too sure what to make of their custom Android, but can't see any reason not to mess around with 'official' versions.
just place order.
next week i'll work on it for recovery cwm and root
just received yesterday ..
put under test and "personalized" with root, cwm recovery, Nova launcher alternative is icon pack lollipop and miui.
I also expanded the partition dedicated to app 1Gb original to 2.5GB (the maximum allowed) so as not to have problems even for heavy app.
also put Xposed framework and gravity box JB to customize interface, awakening through volume buttons, notifications etc ..
I have the rom 4.2.9 (4.2.2 renamed in a simple prop to build doogee) of October 2014, I also have a Nandroid backup but do not know how to post for the benefit of others, as to create a flashable zip, mo need a file that is not in the default package, but only in custom rom (I owe creareeeeee ...).
I was pleasantly surprised:
- Brightness and color screen
- Soft touch keys backlit
- General fluidity
- Battery, looks great and durable (to be tested)
- Power Options
negative notes:
- Touch to only two touches
- Various junk (immediately removed with root).
For the root, is simplicity disarmanete .. just download the app from xda framaroot 1.9.3, launch it and choose the last item ... restart and you supersu ..

Installing Apps on SD card
How have you guys been using the SD card? The phone storage is just 2 GB which vanishes in no time. I have setup the Default Write under Storage to be SD card. I even went through the process of installing the Android SDK and changing the install location to 2 using adb, but nothing seems to be working. It continues to complain that there is no storage available when I try to install any new app, while there is 14 GB sitting there in my SD card getting wasted.
Please help.
New ROM 20150104
Hi,
Has anyone tried the ROM dated 20150104? On the Doogee Service site it says improved rear camera, is there indeed an improvement?
Anyone else happen to have this phone? The device runs on an MT6572 with 1GB, er, 512MB RAM, a 960x540 display, and comes with a swiveling camera (which is why some vendors would pass it off as an "Oppo" model). Android version is reported to be 4.4.2 Kitkat, API verison 19, but afaik the SOC used tops out at Jellybean, so can anyone confirm this, or is there an app to expose it as a fake?

TWRP image (works on the "Oppo" variants. Should also work on other X-BO V5 ROMs from what I can attest):
Code:
http://d-h.st/6C3j
I did a dump of it just recently (even though there's already ROM images for it; had to do mine as I couldn't seem to find any "Oppo"-branded ones yet). I might do a CWM or TWRP recovery for this in case you guys are interested in customising the device in some way, or perhaps even port the ColorOS UI to it for maximum lulz.
EDIT: I couldn't find any hidden settings applets to toggle between device spec options (i.e. fake 4G/RAM/boot logo, etc) other than a "flash select" menu to change the reported internal storage size, but the following properties are confirmed to work:
Code:
persist.sys.changeain (use numbers 1 to 7 to cycle between animations)
persist.sys.signaltype (setting this to "normal" sans quotes displays the actual cellular radio type instead of forcing the UI to display either 3G or 4G)
persist.sys.devicememory (yep, it's for faking the internal memory size. Couldn't force it to display the real capacity for some reason [EDIT: Set it to "true" sans quotes for the phone to report the real capacity])
Hi I bought same mobile in Bangkok...let me know how to insert sim and in which slots??? when i insert sim mobile was detecting service provide and displaying as 4G beside signal bar and unable to make calls etc

Have you tried checking the IMEIs on the phone? I could send you an NVRAM bin backup if that one's hosed i.e. you're getting invalid serial numbers.
Seems like some variants appear to be infected with com.android.ys.services or the ZZPush trojan. In my case it's embedded in /system/priv-app. Not sure if it's the only gremlin residing or if the manufacturer was making a fool of themselves by further infecting the firmware by integrating it deeply into the boot partition as what I attested with a friend's Allwinner tablet:
https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/...e805058f3d85381d215ca778/analysis/1458692140/
Sorry for the triple-post, but thought I might ask if anyone knows how to force the gradient status bar on later firmware revisions. I'd like to use the "S9_72KK_KK_3G_EMMC_32_4_XX_V36_ZXMD 20160116-153508 – yuanda72_cwet_kk-user 4.4.2 KOT49H" build as it has the option to show the actual RAM and /sdcard capacities, yet for some reason the gradient-style status bar doesn't show up whenever I use a third-party launcher.
Trebuchet on stock ROM:
Apex/Trebuchet/whatever on later builds:
Oh and I've also attached a small utility to change the faked device settings to their real values - special thanks to @hrk for the code I used to issue setprop and a bunch of other commands.

Strange, it worked on my end and I was able to change the faked storage and cellular modem values to their real equivalents on my phone. Can you give me your phone's firmware build number? Also, if it's running off a later build, can you try updating SuperSU and the su binary to see if my utility works?

Can you tell us your phone's firmware version? Try deleting android_service_800000_0923_outsea.apk,the default launcher and the theme app (forgot the name of that one, let me look for it in a bit) off /system/priv-app then restart your phone. I don't have the phone with me unfortunately.

Have you tried using a different charger on it? If it still doesn't budge it's either the battery or the phone itself then.

Yeah, but can you tell me what's wrong with your device? Simply asking for assistance without describing your problem wouldn't be of any help.

You can try flashing a stock firmware image to it. It shouldn't be that hard to do so, and there are links to said ROM on NeedROM too.
hello . anyone can teach me how to flash stock rom , custom recovery and also root this devices using adb fastboot ?
CURRENT FIRMWARE --> S9_72KK_KK_3G_EMMC_32_4_XX_ZXMD 20150729 213***
root
how can i root my xbo?
android 4.4.2
model v5
In all Galaxy family there is this code to see the firmware version of the camera
*#34971539#
When you enter it, this screen appears:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

You can see that the "phone to cam" options are darker and you can´t select them.
When you click on the first option, the "version check" you can see that it isn´t updated
The phone versions are newer than the ones written on the Camera.
Other versiones just need to add a small file called 1q2w3e4r.key to the main memory and then the options to write the new version can be selected without root or any mod, but with this one doesn´t work this way.
Anyone know a way to do it?
I have the same data.
Maybe there is a rom that let you write the firmware... some kind of developer rom
Any idea?
I also have this problem with my S6 but I couldn't do anything until now ..maybe some clever guys can help us
I have (still) not rooted or modified my phone and my camera fw is like yours not the same like the phone fw. i dont think its a bug...

Hope so!
With my old s5 it only works with one ROM and a file, but I don't find any for this
I upgraded the firmware and now I have a newer firmware on the phone but the camera still with the original one..
Any idea on this?
Pay attention to LOAD. That's the one that the phone's camera is using. Days of updating camera firmware are over, for the past few years. No need anymore.

So why isn't the same?
On the S3 and S5 it was exactly the same and when you added the correct files and you updated it appears the same on Cam ver. Load ver. and Phone ver.

Also when I add to the phone memory this small file I talked about this is what is happens...
It says: "Update firmware" and the option now appears in dark grey like the others.
The problem is that I don't have the files on the same folder so I can't select the other options and when I say yes to this popup I have to wait few minutes and any update appears.
I think I have the camera firmware files found.
The files are probably stored in:
/system/vendor/firmware
or
/vendor/firmware
In Samsung Stock ROM's.
When I copy the files (include key file) into the root of the internal SD, but they are not recognized.
The both firmware write menus remain dark gray.
Probably the sensor matching files must be identified and renamed.
Sorry for my bad English.
Greetings bart.a

Great!! I think they are the firmware files too!!
I tried but happens the same, maybe we need other rom or a rooted phone.
Hope someone else try it and works to tell us how to do it.
We are in progress!
In older GALAXY models you had to rename the firmware file accordingly.
Only then they were recognized by the system.
One must also choose the correct matching built for the sensor.

Back when these phones were released, you had only cam version and phone version. Which is why we were all on neverending quest to make them same.
Subsequently they have added the load section which compares cam firmware, phone firmware (which is deposited by latest system firmware update) and decides to use latest one.
I guess they did not want users flashing different camera firmwares, from different modules, so they beefed up security on later models, as well removed the need for it, in one fell swoop.
Which is why I said for the past few years in my previous comment.

A track can be :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/help/camera-firmware-thread-t2832384
It works the same way that in S5 or S6 if I rename them but when I push the update option after 2 minutes updating it still the same.
I think I don't have the correct files..
Same Problem here, but how did you unlock Default FW Write etc.?
They are greyed out (S6 Edge) and if i use the apk´s from MrFhenix the Camera Test wont work at all.
Could maybe someone Save his apk´s - i think it´s because of incompatibility of Kitkat and MM (i´m on 6.0.1)

You can ungrey it by doing the following
Rename "yoursensor modexxx.bin" to CamFW_Main.bin
Rename "yoursensor modelxxx.bin" to CamFW_Companion.bin
You also have to add an empty file called 1q2w3e4r.key
You can create it with a pc, just create a text file name it like that and add .key to the name, it doesnt need to have anything inside.
Just letting you guys know this Nougat update just appeared.
This will update your P2 to Android 7.0. So far I havent noticed any major changes except obviously
the changes Google made to Android itself. Very satisfied with the small toggles.
Head over to Settings > About Phone > System Update and happy updating!

head over to https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/P2-P2a...onsive-after-hiding-the-navi-bar/td-p/3583234
as per say by Motorola Admin
It's working as designed. This is what happens even if the nav bar isn't hidden, as soon as you overlap the nav bar and the screen, the screen won't respond. With the nav bar hidden -- even in apps that do it automatically -- I can still swipe left or right at the bottom of the screen, but up or down is likely to bring up the nav bar.

Well that's sad.. At least give us the option to completely disable the software keys instead of a swipe up.

UPDATE: see this thread for flashable zip and instructions!

original message:

You can use this guide by manos78
Warning - Own Risk!
requirements:
- systemless root
- unlocked bootloader
- TWRP
After downloading the update from Lenovo, the update is stored in the /data/data/com/lenovo.ota folder on your phone.
go to shell in adb and request su priviliges to copy the OTA update to your sdcard folder.
Download zip file and edit the updater-script file found in META-INF\com\google\android folder
Look for line 6
Code:
getprop("ro.product.device") == "[B]P[/B]2a42" || abort("E3004: This package is for \"P2a42\" devices; this is a \"" + getprop("ro.product.device") + "\".");
change P2a42 to p2a42
save and copy updater-script back into the META-INF\com\google\android folder of update.
rename zip file to OTA-TWRP or whatever you prefer and in adb push the update to your sdcard.
reboot to recovery and disable zip verification in options menu and flash OTA-TWRP. Some red errors show. after flashing wipe cache and reboot.
Your are now on android 7.0
Recovery is replaced by stock lenovo recovery. Root is also gone.
I am now fastbooting TWRP in order to backup boot and system and flash SuperSu.
update: Backup worked, TWRP is installed and device is rooted with newest SuperSu app. root verifier says i'm not rooted.
i have 25% cpu usage in hardware tab. Its normal?
